They've a waterfront location with the most lush environs and sumptuous atmosphere. Dark & tranquil with a hint of sexy and the bay views - come on now. The menu is so fresh and bursting with Asian flavors, and nothing was too heavy. Do try the hoisin ribs - so tender - and the chicken wraps, which were so bright; the burger was also a hit. For the table, the Buddha Rice - hearty and perfect to split. Their staff was all fantastic and it starts at the top. Manager Joe brings a genuine touch to every guest encounter -- he's rich for conversation, so grab him when he makes his rounds and allow him to suggest a fantastic wine pairing. Beautiful service all around. Also worth noting: while they're perfect for enjoying date night, they can easily accommodate larger groups as well. First off, I want to say the manager and the receptionist was outstanding, best service I've had in a while, and our server was awesome, they were friendly, genuinely nice and they really enjoy their job, very attentive, efficient and courteous. Ambiance is nice, very romantic by the water, you can see the sunset while enjoying cocktails or a glass of wine. Food was good, I had the miso glazed mahi-mahi, I would prefer a side of salad instead of 2 cups of mashed potato, sauce was a little on the sweet side for my taste. My husband had the Scottish salmon, and he cleaned his plate, the sweet potato hash w/ pancetta was yummy.. it enhanced the taste of the salmon. My sister in-law had the pan seared scallops, I also think that the side should be optional instead of rice and there was only a few pieces of the scallops. My brother his friend had the Wasabi crusted filet mignon, which they've enjoyed but also should have options for the sides, not everyone like mashed potato, the mushrooms was a bit salty, maybe better with shitake & asparagus. We have the calamari and warm fried brie which were delicious :) Maybe they can add the fried tofu as an appetizer instead of brussels, just a suggestion. If my experience ended there, this would have easily been a five star visit. Unfortunately things went downhill. We've received a writer who had the most nonchalant cold demeanor I've encountered by White staff in a long time. I feel like he would be a better fit at a more high-end pretentious restaurant. He definitely didn't make me feel comfortable or valued. The food was good but not impressive, I'm afraid. It didn't taste authentic or unique. We ordered the ceviche, Miso caramelized mahi-mahi, and yakiniku calamari. The ladder was easily the best dish of the bunch, but it also reminds me of orange chicken squid. I love the flavor and the texture though! I plan to return for happy hour to see if I can appreciate the food more when I don't have to pay full price. I have been to Tantalum in LBC many times, but its been a while. I can't believe I haven't reviewed it until now. The most recent visit was to meet some biz associates to enjoy entrees & apps. We shared calamari ($24), mussels ($23), fried rice ($30), fries ($7), and a couple of 18 oz bone-in ribeyes ($68/each) [sorry, not all items puctured]. My crew of five (including me), liked the calamari and steak & fries. The calamari was tender, the steaks were grilled medium rare, and the fries were GBD. However, the shrimp in the rice and the mussels were not fresh. Luckily, no one got sick later. Regarding the ambiance, its spacious in here. However, the amount of people seemed light on a Fri night around 6-7 pm. Our waiter Jason and the rest of the team were super nice & attentive. We received fresh plates and steak knives (we ordered a second steak later during the meal). I'd return for a good time w/ a large group. As a long time patron, I had to give them another chance after the bloodbath of mothers day. It was a Monday, so probably not a fair comparison, but service was excellent and so was most of the food. We overtipped, to probably compensate for our last visit. However, the new kitchen manager has clearly changed the calamari (10/10 before, 3/10 now, to the point I felt embarrassed that I'd waxed poetic about it to my out of town guests, who didn't have more than a few pieces, and the ones I ate were just to kind of toe a line), and this is pedantic, but sesame buns for the sliders was a weird choice. So they're no longer on my shitlist, but I do think I'm going to need to try different go-tos. I'm almost scared to try the tuna tartare (my other go to) after the change in the calamari and sliders. I really so desperately urge management to bring back the former chef, because the current one really seems to expending the least effort possible. Honestly this place gets 5 stars for location and music alone. And there food is really very tastey. From oysters to Buddha rice, the reviews are proof that it's all savory. I've been coming here for years and the establishment is starting to falter due to service. The tips must be good judging by the average cost per table, so I'm not sure why the service is becoming soo bad. It is slow, no bussing, and not very inviting. Basically a bunch of young workers stand around while you try to grab there attention. I will continue to dine here as it has an amazing date night ambience, great food, water front location, and decent drinks. For food, we started with the beef & chips and the calamari. The calamari comes glazed topped with sesame seeds and toasted cashews. Very good. The beef and chips is short rib sitting on a bed of duck fat fries with a white truffle cheddar sauce. You can never go wrong with duck fat fries and the short rib was cooked well. For entrees, we tried a few items. The scallops were decent though they did seen slightly overcooked. The Ulu Watu is udon noodles with sliced filet. Meat was cooked well but it felt like something was missing with the dish to really bring it all together. The bearded sorry rub was cooked well and it comes with two eggs cooked the style of your coffee. The Kobe brunch Burger is loaded with apple bacon, avocado, egg, fontina cheese and garlic aioli. The ambience in the dining area leading out to outside seating is aesthetically pleasing. we were seated immediately. Our waitress came up right away and we placed our orders. Beautiful restaurant with amazing staff, and delicious food. We had a dinner reservation and our group was seated right away. We got the hummus & Brie as appetizers, both were so good. I got the Kobe burger (cooked at medium) with herbed fries and it was so good! My friend got the fried tofu dish which I tasted and that was also delicious. Nothing beats a great lunch with a view choosing this spot was absolutely a great choice from the food to the customer service to the ambience. Everything was 10 out of 10 my waitress was so sweet so nice and very helpful when it came to choosing what to pick off the menu with this being my first time I ordered their half dozen of oysters, which I believe was about $24 a little bit on the pricey side, but definitely worth it. The oysters was a nice size and very fresh tasting definitely will order them again then I also got their chicken lettuce wraps, which was too absolutely die for the crunchy with the savory taste was just everything and lately I've been in my lemon drop era so I asked him if they were able to make a pair lemon drop and it came out absolutely amazing. So it's my mom's favorite restaurant (she loves the mai tai & the steak with mushrooms and mashers). She wanted to celebrate her bday and have a dinner here with about 20-25 people. I feel like that was him taking advantage of the included gratuity. The ambiance was less impressive than I thought. This was one of my friend's favorite restaurants and so we decided to come here for lunch I was in charge of ordering appetizers for the entire group so we had lots of great options to choose from. Luckily most of us were pretty starving so we had a great option to choose from. We ordered the calamari, the brussels sprouts, the hummus, the beef and chips , and the chicken wraps. Enjoyed everything so much that we ordered extra of the chicken wraps in the calamari. For my meal, I ended up getting the ribeye sandwich, which was amazing. And then for dessert, we end up getting the press monkey, their banana pudding, and there's a last side of that was really good as well pyramid y'all are very full and The team was very nice and very hospitable. We arrived for an early sunset dinner and waited about 15 minutes for a table. We were seated outside facing the marina as requested, which was perfect. We ordered a few appetizers to share along with a cucumber drink with crushed, muddled pineapple and vodka. The food was so good and there was plenty to share. The tuna tartare was perfection, especially with the crispy wonton chips. The Kobe sliders were juicy and delicious, and the chicken wraps were another home run. Ahhh!!! This place is amazing especially in December! We had dinner outside and loved watching all the lit up and decorated boats pass by. It was only a little chilly out but they had plenty of heaters to keep you nice and warm. Service was great with the wait staff coming by every few passes to make sure that we were doing ok. My girls love Tatalum. They're teens, w/ no money of their own, large IG followings and many tik toks to film. Me not so much. While I can say I love the entry way, that's generally where my excitement wears off- every single time. Now as I wrap this review up to revisit my bathroom on day 4 after my visit, I regret not yielding to my better judgement. The tuna tar tar has done me in. I'm not doctor diagnosed, but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck I bet all the fish in that contaminated marina outside the establishment that I have food poisoning. I ordered the tantalum Benedict which was lacking flavor and would have benefited from sauce to make the components less dry and work together. No knock on service and ambiance, both were great. The restaurant sits on the water and you can enjoy the view of the bay. I hope to come back for lunch or dinner, as I've heard good things, and I hope to leave a better review!
