Not sure where to start on this one. My family and I were traveling back to Chicago from Michigan and wanted to stop for a non-fast-food bite to eat on our way home. After surfing Yelp, we decided to give this place a try. Our initial impression was good. Cute divey atmosphere and a very friendly greeting at the door followed by prompt delivery of drinks and quick to take our order. Unfortunately then the bottom dropped out. After 40 min with no food, our server finally came to say we were next up. A full 5 min later, she deposited 3 burgers and a pair of fish tacos on our table. That's when it really got bad. I ordered a mushroom burger that sounded amazing on the menu. I can barely describe the disgusting mess that was on my plate. On top of my burger was a huge blob of barely warm brown goo topped with a slice of barely melted swiss cheese. Not kidding, the "mushroom stout sauce" looked like my dog had diarrhea and they scooped it onto my burger. Not being afraid of food and trusting that they earned their rating on Yelp, I decided to be brave and go in for a bite. UGH. Not a good choice. I was hunger enough that I thought maybe if I scraped that off and just ate the burger patty, it would be OK, but no. At the same time, my husband takes a big bite out of his burger - and gets a nice big piece of cheese wrapper in his mouth. Apparently the kitchen thought including some packaging as a bonus with his dinner might make up for the extra wait? So by this time, we were done. A very nice gentleman, who may have been the owner was very apologetic and clearly embarrased. He did his best to make it up to us by comping our dinner, but by that time we had neither the patience or interest in waiting on new food. My son was so afraid of his burger after seeing ours that he lost his appetite and the fish tacos my daughter ordered were edible, but just barely. So we lost an hour of our lives Saturday evening and never did get dinner. Thought I'd better post this and warn other unsuspecting Yelpers who may fall into the same trap. read more

This place is not only just a bar anymore. There is a family section. My son and I love the Amy Burger. My wife had the flatbread which she was was pretty good. I have only had the food here for some reason so I can't comment on the beer selection. read more

I love their jalepeno burger! It is very nice since the remodel! Most of the food is fried here, so there are not too many healthy options for food. Tater tots are a must with you burger, even though they do not give you as many as Northside Diner. The owner is very nice! read more

Great service, good burger concepts, but one huge problem - THE KITCHEN DOESNT KNOW HOW TO COOK A BURGER. We went last weekend, ordered 3 burgers, all medium rare. One came medium, the other 2 were well done, dry, & awful. A burger joint is useless if the cooks dont even know how to cook a burger, which is the case here. Awful from beginning to end. Trivia night, so SUPER loud. Although there seemed to be plenty of servers, it took more than an hour to get two burgers and a flatbread. The server apologized, but no offer of anything. The "handcrafted" burgers were frozen GFS patties because we could see into the kitchen. Which would explain why the medium rare we ordered were actually well done. The table was filthy and the place was overrun with fruit flies, which might have made the terrible food have some kind of flavor if one had had the misfortune of landing on our plate.What a terrible waste of $59. I've been here a few times. The first time was great! Came on a week night and it was just two of us. Great food and great service! Second time though, came at dinner with a party of 8. Sat outside on their beautiful new patio. It was my second time here, and my experience left something to be desired. When we arrived, it took entirely too long to get our beers. Unfortunately, the bartender was overwhelmed with indoor and outdoor tables. It would have been helpful if the owner had staffed the restaurant more efficiently. When a business is understaffed, who is responsible? The owner. In addition, I did not receive the sandwich I ordered. The sandwich I ordered was fine, but not what I wanted. He entered the order correctly, but the kitchen made a totally different sandwich. I asked the bartender/server, and he adjusted the price of the sandwich. I'm not a difficult customer, but I don't understand how a person can read an order and then make it incorrectly. I would caution people who are interested in eating here to have low expectations when heading here. A friend and I stopped in here with our kids after a long day at the beach. We didn't know what to expect, but we were so happy we chose this place! I had the Classic Pub Burger, which was absolutely amazing!!! I would 100% order a burger if you are trying this place for the first time. The fries were fantastic, they had a great seasoning. We decided to stop here on Saturday 9/26, based upon the reviews as well as their craft beer menu. We were told to seat ourselves, so we grabbed a table outside on the patio. We sat for almost 20 minutes before a server finally came outside to drop off a menu. She informed us that she was the only server for the entire restaurant. We asked her for some water, and her response was, "I will see what I can do." We initially felt bad for her as it was clearly no fault of her own that she was the only person working. My husband and I decided what we wanted for dinner, and I choose to go back inside to the bar to place our order in the hopes of helping our server, and getting our beers/food faster. The bartender told me I could not place my order with him, because outdoor seating had to go through the waitress. I told the bartender I was trying to do them a favor, seeing as though we had been there almost a half hour now with no service and couldn't even get a glass of water. He told me if I wanted to wait, he could try to get me a drink. There was no apology for the wait, no offer to try and keep our service, nothing at all. After the amount of time we already waited, I was certainly not going to continue to wait for nothing but maybes. This was the worst, most humiliating experience I have ever had at any establishment in my entire life. Was treated extremely rude by the bartender Mike, out of nowhere. It was as if he had something against a female paying patron, dining alone. Had one beer and was told that I needed to leave immediately. When I brought it up to the owners, I was belittled and it was as if they condoned this treatment of a customer because he was an employee. If I could give it zero stars I would. From other reviews, it seems as though this bartender has a reputation for treating customers in a terrible and disrespectful way. Keep a rude bartender who is giving your establishment a bad energy and name, or keep a paying customer who has previously enjoyed coming to your establishment? Friday night we went to a local restaurant called Gastro 49 Pub and Eatery in Chesterton, In. When we got there they were fairly busy but not so much that they couldnt keep up in my opinion. We sat at a table that hadnt been cleaned off yet and patiently waited for someone to come and greet us. 10 minutes went by. Finally the girl came and cleaned off our table and told us our server would be with us shortly. 5 more minutes went by so I decided to go to the bar and order myself and my wife a beer. The server (who i later found out is an owner) came up, asked us for a drink order. I said "I got it, I see you are busy". He brought us our beers and took our order. We had been there for about 20 minutes by this time and finally had drinks, but no worries. 20 more minutes go by.......Waiter comes fairly close to our table, wife flags him down and asks about our appetizer. He says "I'll check" comes back another 5 minutes later and says "Kitchen is backed up, its gonna be another hour before you get your food"...... I said "are you kidding me? You could have disclosed that when we got her, we've been here for 45 freaking minutes already" He says "You can leave! Leave now or Im calling the cops" I was dumbfounded. After a few choice words we left. I cant believe we were kicked out of a restaurant for being upset about what transpired. Totally unprofessional! read more

Could have been a dirty glass or the green food coloring?
