we came here on a Saturday for dinner and cocktails. we ordered the special branzino and it was really fresh and you can taste the smokiness from the grill. we also had falafel and baba ghanoush which were good as well. we also ordered a mixture of seafoods which came out hot and fresh. their cocktails are just ok. there was nothing that stood out for me when it comes to their alcoholic beverages. the staff were nice and fun though. the place looks a little old which mean it has stood the test of time. I was in the mood for some good Mediterranean dinner and finally stopped by this restaurant after walking by many times. and the dinner was amazing! we were seated fast, there are outside and indoors tables, we got a free appetizer on our table right away, the waters were refilled fast and they were in nice glasses too. the prices for the portions are definitely worth it, and the food was delicious. the meat was grilled very well, the rice was delicious, and the customer service was great. We took a train to Mountain view station for the German Christmas market and stopped at Cafe Baklava afterwards for dinner. Stopped by Cafe Baklava as friend wanted a place with vegetarian options and the other wanted Middle Eastern flavors... Cafe Baklava was less than a mile away from where we were taking a class: Mountain View Candle Company and had an hour to wait. Downtown Mountain View has plenty of dining options and within walking distance so it was pretty convenient. The food ordered was flavorful with aromatics and only complaint was the accompanying vegetable of zucchini, carrots and cauliflower didn't seem cooked and a bit crunchy...could've used another 3-5 mins to be perfect Kebabs, lamb shank, complimentary, warmed housemade pita bread with tomato, garlic-olive oil dip was wonderful. Nice ambiance with outdoor and indoor seating. Welcoming, friendly staff and service was quick and efficient and we were finished in an hour. Came here on a Friday for lunch and were seated really quickly in their spacious outdoor area on Castro street. The service is quick, friendly and attentive, and we got complimentary pita that was super tasty almost immediately after sitting down. Whatever that dip that came with the pita too was so yummy! The rest of the food we got were the chicken mozzarella bake special and the lamb kebab. Both portion sizes were super generous and we had plenty to take home too. The chicken was cooked well and it was juicy and cheesy, just as I'd wanted it to be. It came with sides of veggies and seasoned rice too. The lamb kebab came on a bed of the same seasoned rice and included grilled veggies as well. Overall very balanced and flavorful food in a nice environment - I would go back again! read more

Cafe Baklava has been a favorite of mine for years. At lunch-time, the wraps are particularly good. The Salmon wrap is my favorite. At dinner, I usually opt for the kabobs. Service good. So I figured we can combine the cycling with an evening meal stop at the CAFE BAKLAVA (341 Castro Street, Mountain ViewCA 94041 USA; 650.969.3835; cafebaklava.online), which I had been wanting to go to ever since lapswiming at the El Camino YMCA, where I read about this eatery in the free Daily Post (local advert/newspaper for the Silicone Valley communities). It was lovely to cycle most of the way, walking only in the prohibited zone on Castro. Our timing was pretty good; there were few patrons out at (18:00), we easily settled in at the sidewalk chairs and were quickly served. I should say, we were brought menus/ice water/bread & dip; it took me a bit longer to figure out which specific dish might tamp down my hunger faster--all appeared to be equally delicious. I finally settled for shrimp , my wife enjoyed Pancar & Mediterranean Mezze, and we both washed the fine food down with ice water. It was a bit pricy, as are all eateries along this section of pedestrianized Castro street, but did "dog-box" probably a third of the meals; no point in letting such tasty morsels go to waste! The climate was a bit warm; many people were relaxed/enjoying the setting Sun and enjoyed this outside patio area. We had an excellent meal with some leftover--another days luncheon? Stunning lunch today! Greeted right as we entered. They explained the specials and branzino fish arrived this morning! An entire branzino with fresh salad for $38 is perfect for 2 people. They also asked if we wanted to sub the salad for grilled veggies or rice. The pita bread comes so warm - when you pull it apart you can see the steam! The red pepper tomato oil is delicious. Came here for a team lunch event - they were able to accommodate 13 of us at a long table inside (reservation was made beforehand) As an appetizer, they provide complementary warm, fresh pita with a sauce - it was simple, but very tasty! We ordered the Mezze Appetizer which features a variety of dips, spreads and mediterranean delicacies. I really enjoyed trying everything! For the entree, I ordered the Chicken Shish - this was really tasty! Now for the dessert: I wasn't really blown away by the baklava (despite it being in the restaurant name) - it was slightly dry, but still a nice end to the meal! Everything at Cafe Baklava was just fine. Nothing special, nothing horrible. The food was pretty ho-hum. I had chicken kebabs which came with rice pilaf and mixed vegetables. The chicken was tasty, but the rice didn't have much flavor and the mixed vegetables turned out to be two overcooked slices of zucchini and a large unseasoned piece of cauliflower. My husband had lamb, which he said was disappointing. I also had one of their cocktail specials, the ocean mojito, which seemed to be very light on the rum. I definitely do not recommend this. The restaurant itself was very dark, so I had to use my phone light to read the menu. The bench seat at our table was covered with some kind of blanket that bunches up when you scoot in, so it wasn't comfortable and I had to keep trying to get the wrinkles out from under my butt. Cafe baklava was great! Their Kunefe was fantastic, and their mint tea was wonderful. Baklava was okay, but I make my own at home so it's hard to eat it out.
