You could smell the food from this place half a block away! I ordered the chicken gyro with garlic fries. The chicken had a spicy bite to it, which was a pleasant surprise. They filled up the gyro fairly well, it was filling. The garlic fries were fresh and piping hot with just the right amount of garlic. They have about five tables and its not well ventilated. 4 stars because the staff members I interacted with didn't speak the greatest English and we miscommunicated a couple of times on my order. Spent $10 and was full. read more

Horrible customer service so rude. I ordered take out about 35 minutes after my order was placed they call to tell me they are out of the combination kebab. I asked if they have any lamb or chicken dishes, the response I get from the worker is no they don't have any lamb or chicken dishes they were to busy during the day so don't have it. If you don't have lamb or chicken dishes what the hell are you doing open? And I ask what they do have and the response is "Do you know what you want? Or should we refund your order" Will never be going here again horrible customer service lack of respect for customers not helpful at all. read more

Worst med in fremont. The rice had oil smell, the chicken wrapped in coats of spices, dolma sour. Not worth the prices they charge.

The guys at Gaters are fun and friendly! We make a point to either eat in at or get takeout from this place two or three times a month. My boyfriend is obsessed with the chicken shwarma, which they make "extra-extra-EXTRA hot" just for him. He started his Gaters love affair years before we met. I like to get something different every time, because everything they make is so delicious, I know I'll be pleased. Whenever I eat there, I feel like close family friends are cooking for me in their home. If we ever move from the area, I know we'll make our way back every now and then just to eat at Gaters. read more

This place is one of my favorite places to grab a bite. The prices aren't bad and the service is always quick. My favorite thing to get is the wraps. I highly recommend the Mediterranean Chicken wrap, and the combo plate is a hit as well. My girlfriend and I also love to finish out a meal with some of their delicious home made Baklava. It's true that seating inside is limited but you can always eat outside if it's packed. The owner, Maha, is a great host and always offers suggestions for things to try. I notice that some people get offended by this, but it's all part of business. They are simply suggestions. If you don't want to try something else dont be sour, just simply say "No thank you". read more

Coming from the UK the reviews were great so I'd thought I would give it a try. Maybe it's me or maybe it's USA but this place is not authentic middle eastern cuisine. The portions are small and even though the kebabs are marinated, they have no taste whatsoever and the meat is undercooked. The naan bread is not fresh, just a small piece from the supermarket and the sauces have no taste. Please avoid the fries as they are worse than McDonald's The plastic plates and cutlery make it another unpleasant experience. Maybe it's what the Bay Area people are used to but for me is a definite no-no. Service was good and staff very helpful. read more

Hi All, So this is one of my favorite spots for brunch, lunch, or dinner. It's a quick in quick out type of place. they have a nice friendly staff, very welcoming and will listen when you frikin say "PLS MAKE IT SPICY OR WELL DONE" most places dont fuckin listen!! so yeh............. They have a BIG menu but its basically a choice between SANDWICH, PLATTER OR PITA WRAP. They have bakhlava dessert but I've never had so I don't know. The food is good, well cooked and has a good flavor. They cook the food right in front of you so you know they're not scratching their ass or anything. (LOL) Quantity on the food: I've had the platter (chicken and also mix I think ive had) - I think they can add more food for the price. They meat is much less for the price for sure. Platter comes in a 3 sectional plate. One side rice, one is salad and one is hummus. The kabab on the skewers on top. Like2 skewers of 4 small pieces of chicken. They can def put more meat. Seems like a lot, really isn't. The wraps: I LOVE THE WRAPS. They the choice of meat, salad, some sauces (not much sauce) and wrap it up and put it on the grill for 2 mins for last min touch. I love the wrap instead of the pita gyro. I feel we can make gyro at home so I never tried that. I love the wrap. Ive had the comb (chicken beef) wrap with the hub this last time and it was good. I had it with the fries. The fries are w.e, normal w.e fries, nothing that I should be paying 2.5 extra for. I feel the quantity should be more. The hummus: I LOVE THE HUMMUS. THEY SHOULD GIVE HUMMUS WITH EVEYRTHING. LIKE EVERYTHING!! ITS SO PERFECT. I always get it on the side. Service: THE LADY IN THE FRONT..... LMFAOO SHES HILARIOUS!! Like you order and go to pay and SHE TRIES TO SELL YOU MORE.. like no lady I spent about $15 bucks for this lunch im good and her famous response is "AH OK" she says it sooo quickly its HILARIOUS!! She's much better than a lot of other places. So, no complaints really. Ambience: it's a quick in quick out eat place. They have inside and out door seating. They are in like a shopping plaza type of place so I mean its safe and all. The inside is kind of crowded, I hate eating inside. You can always sit out side. It's a feel good environment. Overall: I've been to this place about 8ish times within the year I moved to cali and will def go back for brunch, lunch or dinner. Friendly staff. I feel they ARE a bit pricey for the quantity but they are located in a shopping plaza area so they have bills to pay. Def go and try out the wrap or the platter. Platter comes with hummus! enjoy! I've been coming here for years (since 2008). I just moved back to east bay. I think this is different owners than from when I used to come here. I'm not sure what happened today with my food. The portions were really skimpy. I ordered a lamb gyro. There was more bread than filling. The flavor was not the WOW factor that I accustomed to here the last three times I've come here. Wish I could give this place 0 stars. Food is fine but the lady that owns this place seriously needs an attitude adjustment. I walked in with my family and she was berating her employees. It was disgusting. I thought she'd stop when we walked in, but she just kept going and yelling at the guy cutting the meat. Then she yelled so rudely at the cashier, again degrading and putting down all the employees for not taking my order (even though they DID already ask me twice). I repeatedly told the employees that it was ok, I just needed a couple of minutes to look at the menu but the owner kept yelling at them in front of me and they clearly looked ashamed and not one of them said a word back. I had my 2 kids with me and I didn't want them to be in that environment so we left to go to Chaat Cafe a few stores down instead because the employees actually look like they're taken care of. We've always come to Gaters but this was just ridiculous and I feel really bad for the employees. Don't support this business. Hey lady- your employees are PEOPLE too. How about not degrading them baselessly and so rudely in front of customers and talking to them like they are your slaves. You are lousy! To the kind cashier lady: thanks for asking me for my order twice while getting publicly embarrassed. I hope you find a better work environment in the near future because you deserve one! read more

Felix really loves this place. He always gets the "orange colored chicken" with basmati rice. I get the chicken wrap. Both are really really good. The place is fast and clean; although, fairly small inside so you might have to eat on the outside tables. A great To Go place. We go there all the time. One of my past favorite places to go. Tonight I would give this place 4 out of 10. The inside of the building was very hot, employees could not understand English, the lady behind the counter could not take an order correctly if she tried. I say this with great joy! The explosive flavors I get in my lamb gyro plate reminds me of being back home in Chicago. I want to give Gaters 5 stars but unfortunately I can only give it a 4. Let me start by saying the food is a 5. All I've had is the spicy lamb gyro and the vegetarian plate, but both are amazing. The lamb gyro is a generous portion and the lamb in the gyro is juicy and perfectly seasoned. The falafels are perfectly moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The only caveat is that sometimes they get overwhelmed by online ordering. On those days your order can take up to 45 minutes. But as long as you catch them on a slow day, they are awesome. read more

I have been going to this place for 3-4 years. This has been always a hit or miss. You never know the quality of food you will get. Sometimes its fresh and delicious, other times it's bland and stale. But recently the food has been consistently bad. Humus is bad, chicken is dry and tasteless, pita bread is stale and rice is chewy. I still go to this when I need something to eat quickly. But now I try to avoid gaters as much as possible. It's been a few years since I last ate here and it hasn't changed one bit. The food is still great! There's not much seating here so I ended up ordering takeout (lamb gyro, steak gyro, chicken gyro, fries, hot sauce on the side (beware that the sauce costs extra), and hummus for checking in on Yelp). The lamb gyro was just as I remembered it, well marinated with the right blend of spices and not gamey at all as one might expect with lamb. The steak gyro was essentially ground up marinated beef, had a similar taste to the lamb from a spice perspective, and was succulent and juicy. Finally, the chicken gyro was tender and moist and the amount of meat given was very generous. I didn't have a chance to try the hummus (way too full from my own gyro), but I would definitely stay away from the fries (they were overcooked, well done, and dry). All in all, my family enjoyed our dinner this evening and had a wonderful gastronomic experience! read more

I have been going here since moving to Fremont and I always get the same thing, the falafel wrap. I know there are so many other things on the menu, but I am a creature of habit and I think it's really good. The place is very small, two small tables, two large tables, and a few places to sit outside. I guess it can be considered a hole in the wall type place that is very clean and very friendly. The guy that makes the falafel will always ask me how my meal taste which is nice. I would rather go there than a fast food restaurant. It is more of a quick lunch place than a long lunch date type of meal. read more
