I love Indian food but my husband does not. I was staying at the hotel next door so I decided to give this a try. It is waiter service so I decided to get my food to go. The interior of the restaurant is trying to be fancy but it should be more of a casual restaurant. I ordered my usual Chicken Tikka Masala but for the first time I have had to order rice separately for an $18 entree. I'm used to ordering the naan separately but not the rice. When I picked up my order, there were no utensils and when I asked I got spoons only. Taste wise it was more creamy than full of spices. Food was plenty for one person! I visited Gateway to India, the name drew me in but the location and lack of customer should have given me away. The service was okay. It's located in an older plaza 5 blocks from Disneyland. The parking spaces are fainted so I feel some cars were parked in non-spaces. The interior of the restaurant is nice with lights coming in from the large windows. The visit didn't get off to a great start since they opened about half an hour later than the posted time, which was a bit inconvenient as I was planning to order to go -- wanted to leave before the lunch crowd that did t show up...no one came in that half hour I was waiting. The curry I tried was decent--flavorful enough but very oily and watery. Unfortunately, the fried vegetable pakora was overcooked and mostly batter, with very few veggies ingredients inside, so I'm a bit disappointed placing two orders. 5 stars for the amazing man in the front! I didn't like the menu missing Chicken tadoori, The setting was quite beautiful -- tidy, organized, and well-kept, especially in the evening. However, the buffet priced at $23.99 was disappointing, with limited options -- mostly rice and no chicken tandoori. A broader menu with more variety would definitely elevate the experience. That said, the server was incredibly kind! When I mentioned that I couldn't eat there because of the limited selection, he kindly offered to make Chicken Tandoori even though it wasn't on the menu. Ordered saag and lamb curry and naan and roti. The saag was good the naan was ok but the lamb had weird texture and the curry was sour. I did not enjoy. Was worried about lamb being too tough but instead it was like crumbly and weird texture. Like mushy. I did enjoy the saag paneer though I tried the masalacraft for delivery which I'm assuming is a ghost kitchen of theirs. There's another masalacraft on Chapman ave which I don't think is them. Having lived in the area for the better part of last 30 years, it still never ceases to amaze me just how many quiet, family owned places like this go unnoticed. All credit to the young man who was at the front who also happened to serve as both host, and waiter... and as it turns out, also the Chef for my dining experience. I didn't get a name unfortunately, but what I can tell you, is the food that he prepared was delicious and made from scratch. So yes, in reference to the other reviews, saying that it takes a little bit of time, I would agree, and that is to be expected with food that is prepared by hand, and not premade. I don't know about the rest of you, but I would much prefer waiting a little bit longer, knowing that the food that is being presented to me is both fresh, and expertly cooked. I enjoyed the chicken tikka masala, with the shrimp biryani, and of course, the garlic naan to sop up all of the delicious masala. What I can say is this is one of the better Indian places in the neighborhood, and again I would reiterate the praises for that young man who helped me who was just so darling. This was my first time trying Indian food and this was amazing! It was so flavorful, creamy, and just so much going on. It was so so wonderful, I highly recommend eating here if you're craving some good butter chicken as well! We also wanted to try something different and got the mango chicken, which was also very yummy. Perfect amount of spice level as well. The service was amazing, and we were always serviced, despite being shortstaffed. We were always being refilled with water, and checked in. Usually this place has pretty good food but tonight they sent me the worst samosas I've ever had in my life.

Food was expensive and not worth it. Ordered the lamb biriyani, app sampler and mango lassi. Out of all three items I liked the lassi the best. The lamb biriyani was spiced up but it lacked depth of flavor and not enough salt. The apps were also meh and so greasy. The pieces of chicken from the sampler were also overcooked and not seasoned. You would think with so many spices they would also include salt but it was lacking in depth and kind of one note. The lamb was tender and juicy so I'll give them that. The sauces that came with it were also lack luster and one note. Really wanted to love the food but now I have a huge thing of left overs that I don't even want to eat. The 'problems' started when our server appeared to struggle understanding anything we said, then far more worryingly denied the restaurant served any of the liquor on the menu stating "Only wine and beer". So much for that gin one of us wanted! The biggest problem was a watery, bland chicken and lamb vindaloos we ordered. The garlic naan bread was ok. My house white zinfandel was also ok, but such a limited wine selection to pick from. I'm eaten vindaloo in many countries, the UK is hard to beat, but I', judging this one against others here in the USA ...I've had way better. I went to my usual place Masala Craft for dinner & the owner let me know their dining area was closed for dining due to a plumbing issue. He then referred us to this location called Gateway to India (which is only about a mile ways down the road from the masala craft location) for dinner since he let us know that they now own this place too. Which is great since every time I drove by this place, it was empty. The food was great and he brought a couple of the cooks from the other location and everything is just as good as I expected! The prices are great. Not sure if the name & menu will be changing to that of Masala Craft because of the new management. The owner let us know. This is definitely a more upscale restaurant. They have a big water fountain against the wall in the & nice table settings. Very kind service from all of the servers. Everything is super affordable is cooked to order and has a great flavor. If you're craving Indian food near Disneyland, this is the place to be! I stopped by on a Sunday night for dinner with my boyfriend and we were definitely satisfied with the food and service. The restaurant is located in a pretty quiet plaza so it didn't seem like they had much foot traffic - we were practically the only other table who were dining in on that night. For the food, we ordered the coconut chicken curry, garlic naan, lamb biryani, fries and a rose lassi. The curry was pretty good with a hint of spice. The garlic naan was absolutely incredible - super buttery and garlicky at the same time! The lamb biryani was good, but not my favorite since I don't prefer the gaminess of the meat itself. The fries were pretty average but with some seasoning on top. The rose lassi was definitely different.. although I prefer the taste of the mango version. The lunch buffet was $21.99. Had a few dishes saucey creamy dishes, fried fish, and for carbs they had rice and freshly made garlic naan. They had fruit and veggies in the salad bar on the side. It just felt like it was lacking something. A la carte food: chili chicken was spicy and good. Manchurian cauliflower was savory and filling. All the curries were solid. I had my expectations for a lunch buffet. Taste is normally catered to the masses so there's either none or very little spiciness. This place surprised me. The tikka masala was very good and buttery. The saag paneer was creamy. The tandoori which normally ima buffet is a little dry, this one was well cooked and moist. The price for the lunch buffet in my opinion is approximately priced for the Disney resort area at$19.99. The only hiccup I had was that my server had a phone issue and chose to go look for his phone that left me waiting for my soda refill for a long time and never got it. I ended up just walking up to the cashier and paid for my meal since I had to rush back for a meeting. But I would definitely be back here. I had the worst experience a few months ago that I have to update. I went out of my way to catch the buffet but when I arrived I was told that only two dishes were vegetarian and one was just a few burnt pieces of veg even though they'd just opened. I was excited that a non-chain restaurant ended up being semi-close to the hotel that we were staying during our Disney vacation. The restaurant resides in a small plaza with parking available, making it easy to get to if you have a car. We came for dinner and immediately got excited by the smells upon entering. The table setting felt lavish with higher-end dishes and silverware, so they pay attention to the details to make your dining experience feel that much better. Started with their Gobi Manchuria, one of my favorite spicy, cauliflower dishes. Their take on it was very good and spicier than anticipated. Portion size was smaller than we've had at other Indian restaurants but still good for two people. Then came the real treat with their Navratan Korma (vegan), and WOW, I was blown away by how creamy and delicious their take on the dish was. The spices and seasonings were fragrant and the quality of the curry was top notch. Pairing that with their basmati rice and paratha made the perfect meal. We literally ate every last bite on our table. If we had more time in Anaheim, we would definitely check out their lunch buffet since it seems to get great reviews.
