So I can't confirm it, but Halpatter Brewing Co. seems to be at the heart of all the happenings in Lake City FL. There are so many great things going on here. Especially, the abundance of free parking in downtown Lake City. The Friday night I was there, there was music bingo and a live band. They have live music every Friday and Saturday at the outside stage. Monday is game night. Tuesday is Trivia. Wednesday they have line dancing, including classes for like $5. Thursday is Karaoke!!!! They have a "Culture of Generosity" where you can buy a beer forward. I actually got to be the recipient of one of those free beers. And of course, I paid it forward. The BEER: Seymour-Finnegan's Irish Red Ale 5.7%... smooth slightly sweet great tasting all day crushable goodness Hop Culture IPA 6.5% ABV... looks like a hazy, tastes like a west coast, definitely high in IBUs, has fruity pine nose, good if you love your IPAs extra piney, so very hop forward Pickle Sour 4.5% ABV... oh he11 yummm, I absolutely love this pickle sour. Soooo very good! Rum soaked oak barrel aged Big Hal 7% ABV... there was something I really liked about this. It is a brown ale with a whole bunch of personality Don't have the words though. Big Hal brown ale 6 8% ABV... now I know what I liked about the Rum Soaked Barrel Aged Big Hal this is an all day drinkable brown ale. LOVED IT! Brewery #390 Cool old, repurposed government building of some sort. Post office maybe? IDK. Anyway. Halpatter's is a brewery, but they only had 6 of their own beers. They had several guest beers and a couple of vodka sodas on tap. I got my standard flight and wanted to try their beers, so I got a red ale, a wit bier, a pumpkin style and a hazy IPA. Nothing was bad but nothing stood out either. Everything was solid. We didn't eat here but the menu looked solid. They had a Mississippi pot roast (Similiar to an Italian beef) wrap that sounded great. If I were a local, I'd definitely come back to try out the food. read more

I stopped by Halpatter's because I wanted to try out their beer. Halpatter's has a large outdoor area, and one this night, a band was playing classic rock and yoy just wanted to sit out there and sing along. They had 3 beers that they made themselves: hefeweizen, brown ale, and red ale. I tried all 3. I liked the hefeweizen the best. The bar area was small, so you needed to get your drink and move on to one of the tables, or outside where the music was being played. Not bad but sadly they updated their menu so no more KBBQ burger. Their food is and tastes like bar food. Some bars have good food, this one is definitely just a bar with food. It's chill, not bad and cool lake location. The kids chicken bites were small and alright. I could probably ID the exact frozen French fries at Publix that they buy though. read more

Halpatter Brewing is in this amazing, old building (looks almost like an old Library). It was all decorated for Christmas and had such a charming vibe. Downtown Lake City is very small, but Halpatter noted that they served the only Sunday brunch in town! The food looked yummy, but we were just stopping to try their beers. The beers were great, their outdoor sitting area was fantastic, and they were next to De Soto Lake, so we took our dogs for a nice stroll after our stop. The bartender was great and the service was quick! We'd love to stop by again if we're in the area. read more

Very cool find during an overnight stay in Lake City! The brewery is housed in a historic building with an upstairs tap room and other rooms for hanging out. Downstairs is another tap room and outdoor seating with a fire pit. It wasn't very busy on a Wednesday night, but there was a good sized crowd for their weekly line dancing lessons. Unfortunately, an early morning meeting limited me to only one beer (Seymour & Finnegan's, an Irish Red Ale), but it was VERY good. The food menu offers a variety of choices. I had a small but filling meal of beans and rice, and kettle chips. If you find yourself close to Lake City, this is well worth a stop. I see the potential here and am jealous I live too far away to make this a regular stop. read more

Great beers and atmosphere at Halpatter Brewing. I came with my dad, brother and nieces for some beer and ping pong. I decided to have the beer sampler which came with 4 samples size glasses. I tried the brown ale, strawberry flavor, ipa, and the blonde ale and all were tasty and delish. My nieces had root beer of course lol. We also tried the smores cheesecake for dessert. Today was a day of driving and visiting rest areas, or at least it seems that way. It's time for an evening of people watching, review writing and beer drinking. I found Halpatter in downtown Lake City after nailing a parallel parking spot with people watching. Hooray for my rearview camera! Inside, lots of stools and tables, I managed to secure a spot that was not only against the wall, which meant I had something to lean against, but there was also a power outlet so I could Yelp for a while. A friendly sort of watering hole, the folks drinking beers and having a good time were grownups. No kids running about, it was a social place and it was nice to chat with a local about what's going on in Lake City, i.e., not much. I stayed for three delicious beers (my limit) over more than two hours before heading back to the RV and on to wherever I would be spending the night. We had the opportunity to check out Halpatter Brewing during our overnight pit stop in Lake City. The food and beer selection were great. We also tried an Old Fashioned made with moonshine that didn't disappoint. Aaron and Nate were more than hospitable, as they were very welcoming and made us feel like regulars. My date and I stepped into Halpatter Brewing, after walking around the Main Street area. It was a cool and refreshing pitstop with both cider and Ale. The inside rooms were large and comfortable, with high ceilings. We enjoyed our drinks and chatted with a few other fooks before leaving. At first glance, it doesn't look like a bar at all. The brewery is in an old government building and they did an amazing job adapting it. When we entered it, there was a short line to get our drinks. I chose the "Halpatter - Cross Creek Wheat", which was delicious at $6.50. My husband chose the "Monshine Apple flavor", which he thought was really good at $8.50. We explored the space and found a room with a ping pong table, a space with couches and a party room, and downstairs there was another bar and a huge open space with a stage. The atmosphere downstairs was really cool and it's super family and animal friendly too. Our second drink choice was the "Halpatter - Seymour Finnegan," which I didn't like very much but was good, and my husband chose the "Monshine Blueberry flavor", which he liked better than the other. They have a selection of burgers and chicken wings, which we didn't eat, but all the dishes I saw looked delicious. We visited Halpatter on a Friday around 6pm for beer and a light meal. The staff were friendly and helpful. My husband enjoyed two flights of beers (4-3 oz pours per flight) stating the Brown Ale and the Cream Ale were particularly good. We each had the Al Pastor bowl and shared an order of fries. The fries were fresh and hot and the bowls were tasty filled with pulled pork, black beans, rice and salsa/sauce. I never take the time to post reviews but I feel compelled to let people know. My wife and I are from out of town visiting and usually visit local brew pubs. So I order two beer the bartender poured two 12 oz glasses from a tap attached to the wall. I paid with a credit card and to my shock I see I just paid $25.00 for two small beers. My first indication of the gouging should have been we were the only ones in there. Pass up this brew pub at at all cost, the beer not that good! read more

A cool brewery located in Lake City. This brewery is pretty big with multiple floors. I love how many spaces they have to enjoy with family or friends inside and out. They even have a outside area with a fire pit. Located in the heart of Lake City it really is the cool spot. They have a lot of fun events and live music. The best part is the variety of different beers and small eats. We ordered a cider, beer and a graze board. We weren't blown away by our drinks but we would love to come back and try different beers. I will say the graze board was so delicious we loved the chicken salad the most. The only negative thing I will mention is there was no handicap access to the second floor. It was a bit challanging with a stroller. However we look super forward to coming back and doing brunch one day. read more

The easiest meal, a burger and chips. Here, it was made with perfection! I've had a lot of burgers in my 54 years and this was definitely in my top 3! The restaurant is set in a former DOT building with a cleverly decorated rustic ambience. Two dining rooms and outdoor seating on the deck or the yard below provided ample room to spread out. Another little gem I located in Lake City while on a work contract. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the bartender who was super nice. I wish I could remember his name but he made sure I sampled a couple of their drafts. I'd like to say that I am not a beer drinker however they had a few that my pallet enjoyed all recommended by my wonderful bartender that night. They also serve a couple of wines and ciders. Some of the drinks are seasonal so you'll want to pay attention to that. They do have food and on certain nights out of the week they have different activities such as trivia and Taco Tuesdays. I tried the burger and fries which I didn't get a picture of but the fries were definitely the highlight. Stopped in while traveling through the area. Based on their website, I didn't expect them to have food. But they do have a small menu of items. I chose the original smash burger and French fries....either I was really hungry OR these were maybe the best fries I've had in my life...so good!! They are natural cut, skin on and have some sort of seasoning...I dunno, but I could have eaten my body weight in them! The burger was perfect also - flavorful and juicy.. it was just a regular bun, but they toasted it which was a nice touch. They have a really cool outdoor space which was perfect this early evening. For a Saturday evening, they were surprisingly dead. The beer was solid...I especially liked the hefe - it paired really well with the warm evening and the burger/fries. Their cream ale has apparently won numerous awards...it was okay...I've had better. The Mexican lager was solid. I also tried the hazy IPA (even though I generally don't like IPAs)...it was decent (if you like IPAs you'll likely like this very much). Their outdoor space has bags, a couple of fire pits (for those cool Florida evenings??), a small performance space and a deck overlooking it all. I would definitely come back! read more

I so wish we had a brewery like this when I lived here years ago! We traveled back for family and just had to stop at this local place and the Southern laid back vibe was exactly what I was looking for and more! The bartender was helpful and when we asked for extra gravy for the poutine, he gladly brought some out to us! They have a pretty good bar-food menu of delicious pretzel, poutine, burgers and sandwiches. The Reuben was packed full of meat and the Mexican burger got a hearty nod of approval. Ok, so now for the beer. No matter what, whatever your preference is, they do it right! If you like IPA, they rock it. If you like Red, amazing. If you like Hefeweizen, on point. And then there was my favorite, the Porter which was oh so chocolatey rich goodness. This will be a must stop anytime we come back for a visit. Such a nice gem in a small town. Family friendly place for brunch on Sunday and a really nice, comfortable place to eat. The food is good too but the atmosphere is where it's at. We sat outside and ate a delicious brunch and had a great time! They had a fire pit and nice seating outside with a stage for when they have live music. Inside was also bustling with people as they had multiple places to sit and mingle around. The brunch was a buffet of eggs, ham, bacon, fruit, grits, charcuterie boards, and many other things. This may be one of my absolute favorite breweries I've visited. I just cannot say enough about how great this place is! First, the beer is so so so good and there are tons of choices. The staff is friendly and incredibly helpful. They serve food and it's all great! The brewery itself is really large and impeccably clean. There a plenty of rooms and tables inside with patio and lawn seating outside. There is a bar inside and one downstairs. This place is huge and the set up is so well thought out. I didn't get to see the main part of the tap room because they had it closed for a wedding Saturday afternoon. They do have a smaller tap room at the ground level with a fenced yard which made it nice for the dogs that were there. The staff was great. Very friendly and helpful. I asked to see the brew house, and the guy working there brought me down to see it. Nice Blickmann equipment. I had a flight of 4. Three were there own beers, one was a guest. There beer was much better than the guest stout. My favorite was their brown ale. Very toasty and nutty. So good that I had to get another pint. Our favorite brewery!! Located in historic Lake City. First time there enjoyed the unique location with live music. This time we went downstairs and watched the Jaguar game with other local fans. Do not leave without ordering a cheese board! Eat like a native, the petite serves 2-4 and only $12! The pimento cheese and chicken salad is my favorite on the board. Pretiola-serves 2-4,$15. Very very large portion! The pretzel is soft, salty, and delicious. Dip in either the Bavarian mustard or queso. You won't be disappointed with either. Mustard is my favorite and I was surprised!
