For me, better than the two Brazilian places in town. Meats all excellent, grilled shrimp was great. Cheese bread was very good. Their salad bar also was excellent. I think the sides that they put on the table at the other restaurants in town were a little bit better and more substantial but at a place like this you really don't go for the sides anyway. Think For Valentine's Day they raise the price by $10 per person. And generally they may be between eight to $10 higher than the two other similar places in town but in my opinion, worth it for the quality and not having to make the drive. For Valentine's Day, they served dessert, we had chocolate cake and tres leches, which both were excellent. Not sure if they do that during the regular menu. Would definitely go back. read more

Ok, I've been an avid and frequent guest at Fogo de Chao's and was convinced I would never find a better Brazilian Steakhouse than them. After my first visit to Gouchos do Sul, I am now 100% a convert. From the moment we walked in, to being seated, and served, the service was the best I've ever had. Our first waiter Susan was such a delight. She did such a great job explaining everything about the place and she and her fellow waiters and servers were all very welcoming, very professional, and precise on never letting us run out of what we were drinking and constantly checking to see if we had by special requests. As far as Brazilian Steakhouses go, this one is one of the best. Compared to Fogo de Chao, Texas de Brazil, and Guri du Sol, the taste and options are more vast. This was the last place we ate before moving away from Texas permanently. It was a great send off. To begin, my favorite meat, medium-rare sirloin, was tender, savory, and juicy. The picanha, the restaurants signature meat choice, was cooked to perfection. Anything wrapped in bacon tasted excellent and I was able to request lamb chops as often as I wanted. One of the few things that other Brazilian steakhouses don't offer is the cinnamon-sprinkled pineapple. Each slice complements the meats well and it serves as a palate cleanser before your next meat cut. For those interested, the salad bar is huge and their are tables for larger families. The service is very friendly and it is definitely the first place I'm returning to when I return to Texas. read more

Our family usually goes to Chama Gaucha on Westheimer but stopped going after Covid because they cut down their meat selection and raised their prices. Their meats were also too salty. Gauchos Do Sol caught me surprised because the meats were good and not overly salty. It was seasoned perfectly. The hot/cold food bar could use a little more variety and their lobster bisque soup or whatever it is could use more lobster because it literally taste just like cheese and not that concentrated. My husband and I went on a Saturday for a date night. It was a great Brazilian steak house experience. I want to say the place is probably a little smaller than other Brazilian steak houses in Houston, but the service and meat quality is great. We went at 6:30pm and it was getting busy but they were able to seat us right away. The lobster bisque and grilled pineapple were very good. They will offer another slice of pineapple, take it! You'll want it. We really liked the service and they remembered how we liked our steak and the drinks we ordered. This is the first time my husband liked everything from the ribeye, filet, and sirloin to the sausage and even the chicken. He basically liked everything and he is a picky eater. They offer a slightly smaller meat selection but include desert for about $20 less per person than the normal menu. This seems like a great deal, and a good reason to try a new spot. But, when the bill arrives, all of a sudden "The menu for tonight (8/4) does NOT feature the HRW pricing". Classic bait and switch. The desserts that the menu says are included are now an upcharge, an additional $20 per person is added to the bill. Not insignificant for a party of 10. I will not be returning due to the shady price manipulation, and poor business ethics. Honestly, these practices should be criminal. I left feeling like I'd been robbed. read more

First of all, let's talk the salad bar, I love the fact that there were so many options, from the cheeses, shrimp cocktail, veggies, etc. you can get full off of that so leave room for the meats.... Went there thrice within few weeks in December, twice at River oaks and once at Vintage Park. Salad bar had good options and in meat we are only lamb eaters, but it was fresh and delicious! My younger daughter came home from school for vacation & we took her there but that day it was chaotic. Too many people. Wish they had not taken reservations when they were handling a huge private Christmas party, that had DJ, dancer for of over 100 people. This place looked completely different that day. And very noisy for an enjoyable dinner. Attention was missing, meat served had blood dripping, despite requesting well done. For obvious reason place was over busy, but this could be avoided if they had not accepted bookings for more people than they could handle. So to give it another try we reserved on New Year's Eve at Vintage Park, as river oaks, though closer for us, was full. It was definitely good pick. Place seems bigger and can accommodate more people. Very attentive servers and lamb was delicious. Salad bar too had fresh options, especially shrimp cocktail, mushrooms and wedge salad. I work in the area and have dined here frequently from anniversary dinners, work Christmas parties, Valentine's Day Dinner to name a few. Service is always excellent. Servers are highly attentive to your needs. I've noticed the meats were more saltier than before. Also I was concerned about hygiene. We had a fly and fruit flies around our table. I ordered the wine and twice fruit flies flew in it. I sent it back and they gave me a new glass of wine and same thing happened again. They tried to bill us twice for the wine. Visit was February 23, 2020 for dinner. We had a reservation through Open Table. The restaurant is located in Vintage Park which would tell you that there is plenty of parking available. Compared to some of the main Brazilian BBQ places in Houston I would rate this restaurant lower than the famous ones on Westheimer Road. Due to the fact it's "All you can eat" you always feel that the restaurant tries to rush you out as fast as possible. The meat was ok, the server explained what they have to offer and usually we were able to get "Medium" cooked meat. One major downside was that we ordered 2 bottles of red wine and when the guy tried to open the second bottle he broke the cork. He thought I didn't see it and therefore he gave me the cork from the first bottle when he brought the bottle to the table. read more

I don't normally seek out these places, because I'm good enough at stuffing myself like a tick without going someplace expressly designed to do that. However, had a work lunch here recently. Gauchos has a nice atmosphere, and the service was quite good throughout our event. Salad bar is really more of an "everything we can serve you that's not meat" -- some salad, but also breads, cheeses, various vegetables. I enjoyed the items I sampled. The dinner rolls, clearly designed to trick you into filling up on carbs, were tasty as well. As for the meat -- I don't mean this as a knock on the beef, but my two favorite items were the bacon-wrapped chicken and the grilled shrimp. Very tasty and moist. The beef items were generally good as well, though there wasn't a single one that reached the level of what I would label a good restaurant steak. Some were what I would call underseasoned, and things in general leaned a little more rare than I expected. Nevertheless, given the level of service, Gauchos offers a good value for a Brazilian steakhouse, particularly at lunch. 1. Service - great service from the host. He helped with pouring my wine and giving us the bill. I wonder if I had a designated waiter, of if the host was my designated waiter. This is a Rodízio service restaurant (all-you-can-eat). When you come in, they seat you down, and you can start at the buffet, and when you finish they bring the check to your table. They have salads on the buffet and they bring your rotisserie meat, one skewer at a time. Please note that there is a card on the table that you can flip red or green. Green means that you are ready to be served (meat) and red means stop. 2. Price - We came during lunch, and the price was about $39 a person. Not bad for a Brazilian steakhouse. 3. Ambiance - beautifully decorated with wood columns, ceilings, and flooring. This is a place to impress a date, or a nice family gathering. Dress code is business casual. 4. Food - Not bad. I enjoyed roughly 85% of the meal. Some meats were heavily salted, but other than that it was enjoyable. 5. Cleanliness - Clean dining area, can't complain.
