I took my team out for a nice celebratory dinner last Thursday. I wanted them to experience a nice Brazilian steakhouse and include a nice drive with the decorated Christmas lights. I definitely recommend Gauchos Do Sul in Highland Village for the ambiance and view. I've been to other Brazilian steakhouses and Gauchos seems to be the best one that has a nice salad bar and located on the third floor. You have a nice view overlooking Highland Village. The dinner price is pretty reasonable, which includes the salad bar. We got there early and made it to Happy Hour too. The dinner selection also included lamb chops! The lamb chops were pretty generous in size and cooked perfectly medium rare for me. The service is great too! I highly suggest booking a reservation through Open Table or directly in Gauchos website. You can check out their Happy Hour menu and prices there too. read more

Had Christmas Eve dinner here was wonderful and we had amazing service. Food was delicious and the variety at the salad bar was great. It's about 70 bucks for adults and about 45 for children. The cocktails are really made very well. Especially the mojito and the caipirinha. Great ambiance and scenery. I remember when this place was another restaurant but Gauchos Do sol is much better. My family and I just visited Gauchos for a birthday celebration, we went for dinner. It's about $70 per person, all you can eat! The staff is amazing, super attentive, friendly and respectful! The place is beautifully designed and decorated, it's great for big parties. The different types of meat were incredible! So tasty, each of its own, super tender, we tried beef, lamb, chicken and pork, EVERYTHING was delicious! There was this one special cut of meat that I forgot the name of but it melted in my mouth immediately. Everything I ate tasted delicious, the service was great! I had never been to a restaurant like this before, where you have skewers of meat cut in front of you when you propped your table sign up. As a lover of dim lighting, this place definitely hit the spot. It's a great place for date night and I highly recommend it! Dillon: This place is ludicrously good. Ludicrously expensive as well, but definitely worth it. Make sure to not eat all day before you come, you'll want to be able to eat as much as possible. The steak is all wonderful, make sure you ask for the name of whichever one they give you, because you might not be able to find the same one twice. Try not to fill up on the salad, or the chicken, or the shrimp. The grilled pineapples definitely worth trying for dessert though. I love everything about this restaurant. From the complimentary valet , to the exclusive elevator ride to the restaurant to the ambiance soon as you arrive through the doors. We had a celebration for four and was sat in the corner facing the lighted trees and street. Such a majestic experience. Than we were served drinks while we went to the salad bar. Each of us visited twice... the smoked salmon was chefs kiss. Afterwards was time for the main course which was the unlimited service of cuisines. I literally ate so much they should've rolled me out ! Such a great time.. great host , great drinks and good price for everything we experienced. 10/10 read more

We were able to snag a parking space in the nearby shopping strip, but they do have valet. The day we went, the elevators in front wasn't working so they directed us around to the back elevators. Overall, a great option if you want a all you can eat Brazilian meats- they also have good options in the salad bar that's included in the price (variety of cheeses, bacon, etc and even lobster bisque soup). I tried a bit of all their steak options and everything was flavored nicely. Loved the grilled pineapple with cinnamon coating, oh and there's refills on the Brazilian lemonade- it was delish! After the disappointing meal the other day we had to compensate with something good. We go to Sweet Paris all the time and I've seen this place a lot but never been. Well tonight we bit the bullet and splurged. Although we tried pacing ourselves we couldn't. They have lobster bisque at the salad bar. And a mountain of bacon with something sweet and spicy on it. Enjoyed the plantain chips and banana desert with candied walnuts on it. The cheesy bread is our Achilles heel. And we devoured it despite know that this would hinder our ability to break even on the meat. The grilled shrimp was fresh and crunchy. We had to ask for a few items like the bacon wrapped jalapeño which was awesome. The Parmesan pork was a bit dry. The chicken wings is actually just drum sticks. The beef ribs were dry as were the pork ribs. But the rib eye was tender as was most of the other meats. The Brazilian pork tasted like polska kielbasa. The pineapple has cinnamon on the outside. The place was not crowded on a Saturday night. The service was awesome. They were always checking on us. Right when I was thinking this would be my last piece of meat, I got a sign from god. The server lifted the meat sauce dripping tray/catcher and my flipper (which was underneath it) was gone. I think it was stuck to the bottom of his tray. So yeah time to stop. Parking - I think you can park anywhere in that strip center or even across the street because the signs say parking is for highland village and I think this is part of highland village. Awesome Brazilian Steakhouse. Been to others throughout the region, and hands down, this one is the best. What makes it great is the cuts of meat and their preparation, the management and staff. My family of 3 had dinner here last night. First of all, the restaurant is beautiful. Sits on 2nd floor overlooking Westheimer retail, which is really pretty, especially at night with all the holiday lights up. The restaurant itself is very nicely appointed, very upscale. The service was great. Unfortunately, the food did not match the decor and service. If it was just the food, I would have given the restaurant 3 stars. First the positive. The salad bar is very nice. Lots of items, which all look very fresh, presented in a clean, elegant manner. The salad bar would be 5/5. The meats - 3/5. The first meat we were presented was the ribeye. The first bite was fantastic and we all thought we were in for a treat. That said, my daughter said the meat tasted like it had been seasoned with the "sour cream and onions" you find on potato chips (oddly specific!). After more bites, my wife and I understood exactly what she meant. All the meats seem to have more than just the typical salt you find at a lot of these Brazilian BBQ's. My wife and I would equate the seasoning to what we taste that restaurants that use MSG (we're not saying this restaurant uses MSG, just that the taste reminds us of that seasoning). After a while, it gets harder and harder to have the next bite as the seasoning becomes off-putting. Found this place on a work trip and my oh my, it's a fabulous find!! Excellent food, excellent service. Super clean restaurant and restrooms. Staff is great and attentive. $59.50 gets you all you can eat of meat and veggies. There is the self service veggie bar and all kinds of steak that they bring around. Unbeknownst to me, you cannot take your leftovers with you. I shouldn't have taken so much ... and now I'm full like its Thanksgiving. The self service bar is the "first course" and it's more than just veggies. There is CANDIED BACON on that bar!!! I could have eaten the whole platter. Super yum! Lots of great food choices on the bar as well as what they bring around. I was pleasantly surprised to find that most of the food is naturally gluten free. The bread they bring around, the "cheese bread" is gluten free. Corn bread sticks... gluten free. I could tell the veggies on the bar were gluten free. Some had yum sauce, thickened with corn meal, not wheat flour. I'm in love with the chefs All the steak was flavorful and cooked to perfection. When they bring the steak around, you ask them for how you like it (such as medium or medium rare) and they choose the spot on the steak that most closely matches your request. Oh my goodness I've been wanting to try this place and it did not disappoint! Gauchos Do Sul has been open for roughly a few weeks and it is a wonderful restaurant located on the third story building overlooking Westheimer in Highland Village. A wonderful experience and probably the best takeaway besides the food is the excellent service here. I absolutely love Brazilian steakhouses and this one did not disappoint. Every meat that came by the table was delicious and enjoyed. The pichana was my favorite! They have a good sized salad bar with a whole plate of bacon!! What more could you ask for?? I come here often and usually love the experience and dinner options but the night of 12/29/24, I noticed parmesan chicken wasn't on the floor, so I requested it. I took about 8 minutes and cutting into it I realized there was a piece of hair imbedded into the cheese. Truly disgusted I requested a manager he was just as displeased as I was he immediately grabbed my plate and took a picture of it. Wine selection was not as extensive as our go to place but still a good amount of choices by the glass and bottle. Cheese bread. Very very good. The meats..... suggestion, maybe this is a covid issue. There wasn't a list so we were asked a few times what would you like. "Parmesan Pork?" Oh we have Parmesan chicken but let me see if we can make that for you. That was very nice just shows the service. We declined and just had the chicken which was good. Overall a little inconsistent on the meats. Lacked some seasoning. Chimichurri usually fixes that but it was just a bit bland. No taste of onion garlic pepper or even some that have vinegar. Was it good. Yes. Above A-ok but not quite 5 star. Dessert offerings were standard. No papaya cream or anything Brazilian. There price point is about the same as the others in town. I was not planning to visit Gauchos when we did. I was out and about looking for a place to hit for dinner. Parking is valet and it is free, tips are appreciated. We did not have a rsvp however, got a table right away. We visited on a Friday about 7ish. Walked in and a DJ was playing some nice upbeat music, place was fairly busy and most were dressed nice. You can tell people come there to celebrate something. I was not celebrating just eating. The format is all you can eat, as long as you can continue eating they will keep brining around meat and lots of meat. So if you are not a meat eater don't go! Typical Brazilian steak house format, up green they bring meat down read they bring meat. Yes that is correct they bring meat! The sides that come with the meal are what you should expect, light and low end but they are okay and suffice. We had a couple of beverages to accompany the meal and total including tip was about $260, for two people. So not cheap but the meat was very good and the service was excellent. They charge $50 if you bring in your own birthday cake (surprisingly they did not charge though). They agreed to split checks then later on, they said no splitting checks. For my first time here as it was highly recommended, the place was beautiful. Felt like fine luxury dining. We went in a group of 8 for a party, the whole table except for me got medium rare/rare. I eat medium well. I did feel though i wasnt given as much meat , and had to keep reminding the staff of my meat choice. But everyone had a great time and we still ate a lot, and they gave a complimentary birthday tres leche cake to the birthday haver. Talk about location, it is on the 3rd floor overlooking the Westheimer strip and has a full panoramic view. I suggest that you make reservations and go right before sunset to capture the changing hues of the sky...with a gorgeous restaurant and amazing salad bar, it complemented the delicious variety of meats!! So fun fact I hate steak... yea I know. I made reservations to celebrate my moms ( she loves Brazilian Steakhouses) birthday and boy I'm glad I did! This spot is a true gem. If you're new to Houston, a local, or a tourist check out Gauchos Do Sul. I went on a Thursday at 6:30 and it was not crowded the perfect amount of people. The view was nice as well! The ambience is nice, upscale, but you could always rock a nice pair of jeans and clean sneakers. The wait staff is excellent. They constantly checked on us making sure we had food. They also checked to see if we needed clean plates. I've worked in the restaurant industry while in college and it's no fun so I could only imagine how many dishes they wash a night. The meat was tender and juicy! Nothing was distasteful except maybe the lamb a little too chewy and fresh for my liking. My favorite was the Top Sirloin, grilled Pineapple, Bottom Steak, and the night special I believe it was called. There salad bar had Salad like iceberg wedges to pasta salad. They also had a meat and cheese set up! Get the Brie and Prosciutto! So many options to choose from. The sides they bring out when you start ordering meat. The sides they brought out were rice, mashed potatoes, black beans, etc. the sides weren't too flavorful but I guess that's not the star. Like I said the meat didn't stop coming and all of it was top of the line! The drinks were also pretty good my table all ordered the same thing, the Passion fruit Sangria. The perfect amount of sweet and tangy. Prices of the drinks range from 15-20, I didn't take a look at the wine menu. One thing I'd like to mention the Cake Fee! It cost $50 dollars if your bring an outside cake, they add it to your bill. I guess I don't usually bring cakes for birthdays so I've never heard of this, but apparently it's common. Just a warning! Amazing Brazilian steakhouse!! Gauchos Do Sul might even be better than Fogo or Chauma. I visited the location at the Highland Village, and it had a terrific ambiance. You get a nice view of the streets from the third floor. The interior is also beautifully decorated. The meats here are out of this world! My personal favorite definitely has to be the Texas Kobe Beef. It has just the perfect beef to fat ratio to make each bite divine perfection. The sirloin and ribeye were also top notch quality. Even the salad bar had many unique options, including crispy bacon. Overall, my experience here was fantastic. The service was swift and friendly. I've heard good things about this place & thought to give it a try. Everything went well until after dinner when everyone in my party of 4 felt sick and unwell. I, personally, got food poisoning the next day. The reason I'm rating this 3 stars still, though, is because everything else was still a good experience. We arrived around 6:30pm for our reservation and got sat quickly and greeted. Our table was located right by the large window that overlooked the street and the view was absolutely stunning. The service was great and everyone took care of us very well. It did feel as though the food was constantly circulating to us even after we flipped our cards over to red for a pause, but I can understand they probably just wanted to make sure we were doing okay and not waiting too long for the next round. My friend and I ordered about 4 cocktails: the strawberry basil martini, mango martini, cucumber lime margarita and the violette moon(?) All were very delicious & we thoroughly enjoyed them. My personal favorite was the violette moon and the cucumber lime. We came here to celebrate my mom's 77th birthday last night. There is complimentary valet parking, so that is convenient. The ambiance is nice and the service was really good. As we arrived at 6 pm, it wasn't crowded yet so the service was very attentive. My favorite cuts are the pichanha and the filet, although getting filet to the table took quite a bit of time. It was by far the best in my opinion. They bring out rolls, polante, and mashed potatoes, although I personally did not partake of that. They also have the typical salad bar, which I did not partake of either. The reason for the ding in stars, is that my husband and I never look at our final bill, as we assume it's generally correct and even if one item is wrong, it's generally not worth the hassle of having it corrected. However, we kept wondering after we left why our bill was so high, over $400 for us and my mom. After looking at the receipt, we were charged for 3 creme brûlée cheesecake desserts, when my husband and I shared only one and my mom's dessert was suppose to be included since it was her birthday. We also were charged for 2 bottles of spring water that we did not order (perhaps they were ordered by our party before we arrived, as they were there 20 minutes before us), but the biggest thing is they added 20% gratuity to our bill, and my husband didn't realize it and added another 20%+. The latter is on us, as I know this is customary, and I am not blaming the restaurant for that as the service was very good and worthy of over 40% tip. I do, however, blame them for overcharging me for items I did not order, and as a I mentioned earlier, if it's one item, no biggie, but we are talking about almost $50 extra for items we did not order. With that being said, check your bills before you leave! I know I will in the future, and I do intend to come here again as it was really good. read more

They had one of the best old fashioned I've ever had and they do a Smokey presentation with your drinks that is pretty unique. I will be back. I'm a pescatarian so they were very giving with the shrimp rounds with me. When I had my card on green they made sure my plate was full when I requested. The fresh bar had smoked salmon options and other veggie and seafood options. Expect to reach in your wallet when you come here. We had the party room where we celebrated with a social distance birthday and they had a slideshow being presented while we ate. There was free parking but no valet and not sure if they typically have valet or not but I recommend giving this place a shot. Ok....I'm an avid fan of Fogo de Chao and we normally don't venture out to similar restos when we want good from a Churrascaria. But...we were pleasantly surprised by Gauchos. The quality of the meat was good and it was a wide selection. They even had shrimp and the roasted pineapples! But the best thing about this resto was the service. We felt like we had 10 servers. They were attentive and they went over and beyond to show us that they were glad we decided to visit there resto. The food was delicious, but the service made our visit to Gauchos great!
