My girlfriend and I came here for her birthday dinner, and Pappas Bros. delivered. The service was exceptional, and the atmosphere is exactly what you'd want from a classic steakhouse. Dimly lit, elegant, and upscale, but still lively enough that it wasn't overly quiet or stuffy. There was a live pianist playing and full bar service while we waited a few minutes for our table. We started with the Lobster Deviled Eggs, which were solid. For our main course, we split the 22-oz bone-in prime ribeye, cooked medium-rare, and served it with a side of creamed spinach. Both dishes were excellent. The ribeye was cooked perfectly, flavorful, tender, and exactly what you would expect when ordering a steak at this price point. The creamed spinach might be one of the best I've ever had. It was rich yet well-balanced, and the flavor was spot on. It didn't feel overly heavy or too salty. The restaurant did provide us with a complimentary dessert for the birthday celebration. We've both been disappointed before when going into highly-rated restaurants with high expectations, but Pappas Bros. absolutely lived up to the hype. Between the food, service, and atmosphere, this was one of the best steakhouse experiences we've had in Houston.

My husband and I came on Valentine's Day and made a reservation about a week in advance since we figured it'd be busy. When we got there, the staff greeted us and even congratulated us on our anniversary, which was really sweet. Our table was ready right away when we arrived. Within the first few minutes they had brought out the complimentary bread and butter, and let me just say this alone would've made me happy lol. Starter/Drinks: *Strawberry Basil Up Martini - this was strong but refreshing. 7.5/10 *Lychee Martini - amazing 10/10 *Mrs.Robinson - delicious as expected 9/10 *Lobster Deviled Eggs - i, for one, do not like eggs but theseee??!??!! omg I'd sell my left kidney for this! The sweetness of the lobster with the spicy of the bacon is a perfect combination 1000/10 Entree: *12 oz Filet Mignon - ordered these medium rare and they came out perfect! They were so juicy and delicious, it melts in your mouth. ****This would be a 10/10 but I am knocking down a point because it loses all its flavor when reheating it the next day. So 9/10!! *Jumbo Lump Crab Mac and Cheese - this was honestly really good, the mac and cheese was creamy and the crab tastes fresh. You can also order a lobster version of this dish! 10/10 *Mashed Potatoes - its literally a mountain of creamy delicious potatoes. ***Note that this does come with bacon for those who dont eat pork!!!! 10/10 *Baked Potato - my husband said he enjoyed it but he's had better 8.5/10 Dessert: *New York Style Cheesecake - this was the perfect way to end the night. The cheesecake itself is sooooo creamy and the crust on it was delicious, it paired perfectly with the strawberries 10/10 Overall: will come back again to try more menu items 10/10

Recently experienced dinner at Pappas Bros Steak House, second visit. All in all it was a good experience. The servers were knowledgeable and attentive. The ambiance was quiet, dark and intimate. I started with an excellent old fashioned. Then we tried the beefsteak tomato as an appetizer. For dinner, we enjoyed tender filet mignon, creamy au gratin potatoes and tasty broccolini. And for dessert, we topped it off with the pecan pie - which seems to be a cake with pecans on top- it was warm and tasty. Pappas Bros is on my Houston's top steakhouse list. I recommend it.

We were warmly greeted and taken to our table by Catherine. She is lovely. Welcoming, friendly and professional. She wished us a happy anniversary, which was a nice touch. We were celebrating our 32 anniversary. We've lived in Houston area for 20+ years but somehow have not dined at Pappas Steak. We saw Chris Shepherd loves it and decided it was anniversary worthy! The food was outstanding. We are foodies. My favorite places has been Steak 48, Brennen's and maestros. This is by far the best steak I've had. My hubby and I agreed. Amazing. The sides were good, although I do love 48's crème brûlée corn. We had the au gratin potatoes. And crab cakes. We also had few cocktails and wine. All were lovely. Leslie was our server. She was attentive without hovering. I'd ask for her for our next visit because her service could not have been better. She's an asset to PS. Big shoutout to Angel, Carlos and Alberto for keeping our water glasses filled, clearing our table and boxing our food. These 3 gentlemen were professional and very good. Very. The only negative is we were seated in the back room and it had a TV. Baseball game. And 2 other tables were cheering and color-commentating the game. We are Astro fans. But this was our anniversary so it was not romantic. That was a bummer.

I'm not the biggest steak connoisseur so take this review with a grain of salt I suppose Made a reservation for 2 at 6pm on a Saturday and when we arrived we had to wait about 5-10 min for them to prep our table. Not a big deal honestly. Our server Peter was very nice and seemed knowledgeable about the restaurant and the menu. I felt that the service was a good mix of being attentive without being overbearing. We tried the crab cakes to start which were yummy with the accompanying sauce. The filet mignon was cooked well (again idk steak that well but it seemed good to me) with basic seasoning. The haricot vert was also cooked very basically but I love a vegetable with my meal so I enjoyed it a lot. I also tried the lychee martini which I thought was alright but definitely a bit overpriced for what it was. Definitely a special occasion kind of restaurant. The ambiance feels kind of old school (not in a bad way) and the attire is definitely more nicer/business casual

Fantastic Chocolate Marshmallow Mousse for dessert !!!
    Michael C.

I went here just after 5 yesterday evening and I will admit my NY Strip - very rare on a hot plate and Chocolate Marshmallow Mousse were both very delicious, high quality and moist with some nice little chew to them too. The steak was very nicely seasoned, buttery, rich, fatty to the right amount and easy to cut. The dry age aroma was very good and not off in any way. I do think the dessert needed a bit more of that dark ganache fudge pouring down on it like they usually do, but it was still excellent and my favorite dessert here with the midnight cake. The key lime pie is amazing too. The young chef / cook who brought my steak to the table was very welcoming and nice. However, I was not pleased with the bartender / server with the brown hair n glasses that took my order. I never had her serve me, nor seen her here before, considering my last visit was in December. She was not welcoming, friendly or even too professional. She seemed annoyed with a stick up her ass when she came up to serve me. Instead of being more restaurant style hospitable, she immediately asked me if I have a reservation. That's like saying to provide a reason for allowing me to eat in that seat or section of the restaurant. I sit in that same spot right behind the piano whenever I can and it was not reserved. I have been coming here a handful of times a year since the summer of 2019. I know seats that are taken have reserved signs. I also wasn't sitting at a big table taking up much space or anything, so this whole vibe pissed me off before I even ordered. Gee, maybe if I wore a button down shirt and expensive watch, she probably would've dared to ask that. Then, a very easy, possible mistake of bringing the wrong dessert happened, which is no biggie at all and takes just a couple minutes. So normally no problem and wasn't in a rush. Now, when I told her, she just quietly took it back instead of saying a quick - Oh that's right or Oh sorry, be right back, like she's too proud to admit her mistake. I will admit she got the food, drink and dessert out on time, but had no customer service skills. She honestly was lucky to even get a 9 % tip from me when I tip 23 % in restaurants as long as they're nice / welcoming and the service is just passable.

    Dry aged Bone-In Prime Ribeye
    Nhi V.

Classic flavors, a bit pricey. The most memorable dish was the dry aged ribeye. Perfectly cooked, nice crunch, aromatic dry aged flavor. We also got their crab cakes and crab mac and cheese. Good dollop of crab in each dish but nothing life changing. Very classic American flavors, and I would dare say the mac and cheese was a bit bland. For the price, portion was rather small - just enough for two. Dessert menu also contains all the classics: pie, cheesecake, creme brulee. Pecan pie was good portion but very very sweet.

Over the top best steakhouse scene in Houston! The service, food, cocktails, wine, and lounge atmosphere (in the front bar area) ranks high. Live pianist playing classic lounge tunes on a baby grand set the stage, along with super attentive service from Valerie, Sara, and manager Jack. I started w my usual Old Fashioned and transitioned to a Brunello with my meal. The scallop starter was perfect as it has a hint of spice. While the daily chef special sounded amazing, I opted for the Bar Entree Filet, medium rare, and mashed. Another stellar Houston culinary experience for the books.

We took the kids out for a nice dinner after reading reviews indicating Papa Bros. is kid friendly. And they were. The hostess and wait staff made us feel comfortable and welcome, and we saw several other families dining. This is a your typical clubby, dark wood, white tablecloth steakhouse. Pianist is the bar. Huge wine list. Excellent cocktails. Outstanding service but not overbearing or pretentious. The food was excellent as well. We started with the octopus and salads, then steaks and sides. My wagyu was melt in your mouth delicious. My daughter's lamb chops were perfectly cooked and flavorful. My husband said his New York strip was good but he feels like Ruth's Chris is more flavorful - maybe it's all the butter. Two of our children opted for the kids menu filet Mignon which was an amazing deal - 6 oz. Filet with fries for $30. The adults didn't have room for dessert but two kids ordered ice cream, which they enjoyed. We would return.

The steak filet duo with crab bernaise and mushroom was outstanding!! The mountain of onion rings was eye popping. Their house salad was interesting with a pleasant edgy dressing and roots with greens. Since it was our birthdays' dinner, the complimentary birthday treats were extra special. Overall, a lovely evening!!

I've always loved the Pappas chain and regularly visit Pappas Seafood, so for my birthday I decided to finally try Pappas Steakhouse--and it did not disappoint. From the moment you walk in, the entrance is beautiful and sets the tone for an upscale, luxurious dining experience. The service was very attentive from start to finish, making the evening feel special and well taken care of. The steaks were incredibly juicy, tender, and truly melted in my mouth. The sides were very well portioned and perfect for sharing. The octopus was not what I expected--in the best way possible--exquisite, flavorful, and a pleasant surprise. To end the night, the chocolate cake was absolutely delicious and the perfect finish to an amazing birthday dinner.

Pappas Bros. Steakhouse is absolutely worth every bit of the praise it receives. If you are looking for a special occasion destination or simply want a steak prepared exactly how it should be this is it. Dining alone here still felt like a full experience from start to finish and never once felt overlooked or rushed. The service goes above and beyond and truly sets the standard for what hospitality at this level should be. Every interaction was polished attentive and thoughtful and it felt as though genuine care was given to making the meal exceptional. This is the level of service that should be expected in a restaurant of this caliber and here it is executed flawlessly. Each course was fantastic and memorable. The New York strip was cooked perfectly medium rare and packed with deep rich flavor. It was balanced beautifully and delivered exactly what a great steak should. Every selection throughout the meal felt purposeful and well executed. The wine list is as good as it gets and fully deserving of its reputation. The depth and quality of the selection elevate the entire experience and make it easy to find something truly special to accompany the meal. I cannot recommend Pappas Bros. Steakhouse enough. Whether dining alone or with others this is a place that delivers excellence at every level and stands as a benchmark for what a great steakhouse experience should be.

Very well Had such a great experience at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse. The atmosphere was classy and welcoming, the service was attentive, and the food was amazing from start to finish. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly.

1/24/26. This is what we ended up with. They added the second half still no claws/legs.

Are there any Creekstone (halal) steak options at this restaurant? And if so, how far in advance does one need to be requested?

Thank you for reaching out to us. The only Halal item we have available are our lamb chops. It is a Colorado lamb that is sourced from the Midwest. It is available year round on our full menu. We look forwaard to serving you soon.…

Can you share the steaks? They all seem huge!!

There would be no problem sharing your steak. The servers would do anything to accommodate you. If you order the Japanese Wagyu it comes in 2 oz pieces with a 4oz minimum so that would be very easy to share, all sides are family style.

Regarding the food, the Frisée Salad was pretty good, well dressed and flavorful. The chicken sandwich was okay. The batter was crispy and flaky but it had no flavor. It came on a bed of sauce that was flavorful with fresh veggies but it did not go well with the steak. Perhaps chicken would've suited better. The steak itself was dry and quite chewy. For dessert we had the carrot cake tres leches which was decent. The carrot cake flavor was there but the moisture from the cake was not fully spread in the cake. Overall nothing here was bad but with the plethora of restaurants in the Houston area I can't justify recommending or returning.

If you enjoy decadent food, Credence is the spot! The interior is refined but still welcoming and…read morelively with Southern charm. Service was amazing-- we loved our waiter who was a combination of polite, funny, and knowledgeable, and everyone gave us a smile. All the dishes were beautifully presented and flavorful but definitely on the heavier side. - Beet salad (5/5)-- wow, never had a beet salad like this one before! So much flavor with a tanginess from vinegar sweetened by the blueberries and beets. The beets didn't taste very earthy (aka like dirt) compared to most beet salad. This was really well executed :) - Caesar salad (3.5/5)-- Credence's spin on Caesar, which according to my Caesar salad pro diner, didn't really taste like Caesar salad. Also very tangy and tart but the pro still enjoyed it as a salad dish. - Roasted cabbage (4/5)-- big fan of the way they roasted this, perfect tenderness without being cabbage mush! Definitely a heavy dish, especially for a vegetable option, as it was swimming in a butter cream sauce that started to congeal as it cooled off. Would choose this more as an indulgent appetizer rather than a healthy veggie option. I wonder if one could ask for the sauce on the side... - Tuna tostada (3.5/5)-- if you like strong flavors, this one packs a punch. The gochujang aioli beneath the tuna is really concentrated, making it difficult to taste the actual tuna. There's a bit of heat but thankfully I wouldn't say it was spicy. Fun to try. The tostada itself was very dense and almost a bit bread-y versus a crispy chip texture. - Crab fried rice (4/5)-- comes with lobster foam that is mixed table side and a generous amount of crabmeat lumps. The rice actually had a nice texture without being too... grainy / individualized, but it was too salty for me. - Akaushi Wagyu beef (4.5/5)-- loved the texture which was tender but with some chew (was expecting more of a melt-in-the-mouth texture though) and the veggies that it came with. It was heavily salted, too much so for me. Would've been perfect with less salt since there's already a chimichurri sauce with it. - Peanut butter tart (4.5/5)-- peanut butter lovers rejoice! The chocolate filling was rich, thick, and sweet which was complemented nicely with the whipped cream (not sweet at all). The peanut flavor really shined. The crust didn't have much of a taste by itself and was sandy in texture, not sure if on purpose or over-baked and dried out. Either way, the tart looked impressive when it arrived and was delectable-- my favorite bite of the night! Overall a nice experience! Although there was a mess up and the rest of our two salads and crab rice wasn't packed with our other food to take home; I was pretty sad about that since it was quite a bit of food (and $$). I might return for that peanut butter tart, but everything else was too heavy and too salty for me. I'm personally not a huge butter fan, but if you are, definitely make a reservation for a special occasion or date!
