Very unsatisfied with GEICO's service offering. My 6-month premium had already gone from $568 in November 2018 to $695 in May of 2019. Now it has gone from $695 (May 2019) to $1245 (Nov 2019). I had put a claim in with GEICO in September 2019 and that's how they justified raising my premium so much. When I asked if there is anything I could do, short of leaving GEICO, to reduce the premium? They recommended taking a Defensive Driving course. However, the money I would save for doing that was less than the cost of the course. They also told me that my claim "impacted your rate at renewal. The severity of a claim is one factor that can ultimately raise your rate. However, when we consider rate changes as the result of a claim, we take into account a number of factors apart from just the cost of the claim, including any impact to the risk of future claims. Additionally, we base our insurance rates on a wide range of factors, including motor vehicle reports and claim history." Severity of a claim? My claim was low. My $1000 deductible covered more than half of the repair. The amount GEICO is increasing my premium for 6 months covers GEICO's cost for that claim. Does that mean that my rate will revert to the prior $696 once this has been paid? Their customer told me that I will be at the new $1245 rate for at least 3 years (I bet it will increase during that period). These guys suck! I have not had a claim for the 2 years that I have been on GEICO, nor for the prior 15 I was on Farmers. When I spoke to the 800 number representative, I told her that it feels like I should have paid for the repair myself, instead of making a claim (which ended up raising my rate). She agreed with that. But if that's the case, why do I have insurance (other than that it is legally mandated)? I am very dissatisfied for this price increase and plan to drop GEICO as my insurance provider as soon as I can. read more

Its OST - One Star Tuesday again!!! I switched from State Farm to GEICO in 8/15, because State Farm was cheating me. In addition, GEICO was about half the cost, and supposedly did not have additional charges for insuring multiple cars. I bought a new car last week, and I was told the cost would be $460 for 6 months. There was 3 months remaining for the period, so I expected the cost to be $230/prorated. I got into an accident with a woman who backed into me back in November 19, 2019. I thought it was a done deal given the fact that she backed into me. NO. First she disconnected her phone for a month, so neither her insurance nor mine were able to contact her. Meanwhile, I got my car fixed and paid my $1,000 deductible. After a month, she finally got back to her insurance company, but denied ever hitting me. Since the photos I took were taken after we had moved the cars away from the accident area, Geico says there is no concrete evidence for them to pursue my deductible! What about the fact that some random woman gave me permission to take photos of her driver's license and insurance information?! They just give you the runaround with canned responses. We've now been to the dmv 3 times (@2 hrs/ visit) after geico said they sent the sr-22 filing to the dmv electronically and each time the dmv said they never got it. This firm does not have a clue about customer experience. You get a different person each time you check on a claim and there is no one accountable to the entire process. They have no clue how bad they are because no one sees the process from beginning to end. I don't have Geico insurance but have to deal with them because their insured driver ran a red light and totaled my Tesla. From my experience so far, they low balled the value of the car, underestimated the total cost to resolve the issue and failed to move the vehicle from the expensive towing area. As a result, the total value of the claim exceeds the drivers coverage and Geico wants me to pay for the rental car. This is u believable. My family is almost killed by this driver who ran the red light and now because of their ineptitude, I am being asked to pay for the rental. Thankfully I have the resources to foot the bill but feel upset that I need to pay for something their driver caused. Bottom line, Geico in this case has not acted in good faith and I do not trust their ability to take care of their clients. I don't have Geico insurance and will never entertain them. Comments: Sold one of my cars to a family in need of an nice car. Both of us are insured through Geico with two separate policies. A week after receiving the car, it was rear ended by an uninsured motorist. I did not drop my end of the insurance policy off right away, making us doubly insured on the vehicle. With that being said, you would think geico would take a special interest in handling the issue, not the case. The insurance adjuster Jason should be relieved of his job as he is making the vehicle repair the hardest part of the accident. Jason, who is a direct representation of Geico has lied to us on numerous occasion on the smallest of issues regarding the car during casual conversation with him. What Jason lacks in knowledge of vehicle repair he makes it up with b/s lies. The Geico fully covered insured family member went in this morning to pick up the vehicle to only find the bumper that was replaced and painted was not painted correctly. This adjuster called and with out inspecting the vehicle told the Geico insured family member who has to drive 80 miles, come pick up the vehicle its done. The car wasn't ready for pick up. I actually believe Jason inspected the car, but due to his careless lack of interest in his job, he was hoping that we would accept the poor job done by the body shop. So much for believing that we pay Geico for looking out for our best interest. Considering the problems having had with Jason, who is a direct reflection of geico, I now believe Geico and Jason are out to save a buck at the expense of everyone insured by Geico. AVOID GEICO AT ALL COSTS! When I have to take my vehicle in for repairs after an accident, I expect it to come back working. I was told by the shop manager (after I explained driving out to his shop at 2:30 PM on Friday would be very difficult) I had to pick it up the same day and that it was ready and had been Quality Assured. He explained I would have to discuss details of the pick-up with my adjustor who would be calling me shortly. No one ever called. I never was able to get a hold of ANYONE at Geico not before I tried to pick it up and not when I was picking up my vehicle. When I arrived to pick it up so I didn't get charged money for the rental car per the collision shop owner, I started it up and it rumbled like it was about to explode. I wasted about 5 hours to not have my car fixed properly, and to go through the process of getting a rental again. I had to leave work early - for no reason and will likely have to again once I hear back from where ever my car is now. Also, I am fairly certain the paint doesn't match, but it was hard to tell with all the dust and grime that was all over the car - even on the area where the repair had been done. The shop manager was not helpful. He did not explain anything clearly to me regarding why my Jeep sounded like a jet engine was under the hood. He insisted the issue was maintenance related and then Geico insisted the same. The vehicle drove perfectly fine prior to the accident. I am not even sure why anyone would tell someone to take their car to anyone who isn't at a full blown mechanics shop - like the dealership- where it is now; for its next set of repairs. I was not at fault for this accident. If I as a customer say, "this isn't working right, I can't even drive it...", the owner of the shop shouldn't tell me it's my problem. You should be able to check EVERYTHING out on the vehicle PRIOR to paying any money and being rushed to sign paperwork as a customer. I never would have signed for the vehicle had I had a key to start it, which the shop did. I asked if they started it and they said yes...so you can imagine then I am even more confused. Once I got to the Geico express shop 15 miles from where I live in rush hour traffic on a Friday, I started the car and felt the entire vehicle rumble, shake, vibrate - the steering column was shaking. I am not sure who does the quality assurance at Caliber Collision in Anaheim, but I would never take my vehicle there. The Geico rep onsite - Jose was not helpful. I never felt like I was in good hands. So I have obtained the records of every maintenance visit my vehicle has been to the dealership for since I bought it. It's still under the extended warranty. Then he tells me I may be responsible to pay $150 if the car is taken apart (for the second time) and looked at by "people who are mechanics." I understand that this shop only does body work, but I had indicated to 3 different people that the vehicle vibrated, and shook and was barely drivable once the accident happened. I was told they did an alignment. Obviously - a simple alignment had nothing to do with the problem so why would you call a customer and say their vehicle is ready when clearly it isn't? And then make them sit there for over an hour for no reason? Twice they came to tell me that Enterprise was coming back to get me. After asking about it numerous times, I called Enterprise myself - and they didn't have a call for a pick up at Caliber Collision. They arrived in about 2 minutes once I called myself. I could go on and on about what a nightmare of an experience this was, but I'll never truly capture it in a yelp review. Now, am finding out that my car was towed after I spoke with "supervisor" Mary Martinez and specifically asked her not to have it towed until I could speak with the shop owner. I paid thousands for insurance to have a financed car with 45,000 miles on it come back broken and undrivable. They are even trying to undermine the severity of the issue. Anything to save themselves a buck when the accident is the fault of another driver. You don't make me feel safe as an insurance company at all. This is the first time in 4 years with you I had to make a claim and it's a nightmare. Your processes are quite poor, there is no open communication, and employees assigned to the claim are difficult to reach. Your supervisors didn't even help. As a consumer, I am already in the process of trying looking for a new company to take my business to. There is a reason your premiums are cheaper and it is because your service is. You are holding a driver who you said wasn't at fault to the standards of someone who was. I feel like I am on trial and I am not. Get it together. read more

While customer service over the phone at GEICO was great handling both getting me started with them, and taking care of my cancellation... this retail location next door to CHASE bank in the Albertsons/TJ MAXX plaza off of Harbor was pretty shoddy to say the least. I walk in and you've got one guy munching on granola, while another is texting on his phone.... and then you've got a lady at a desk in the back sitting there, staring blankly at a computer screen. Nobody there really went out of their way to help me or make sure I was taken care of... and definitely no "thank you" or service with a smile (I'm growing tired of thanking businesses for letting me shop with them). They also told me that while their fax number was on their business cards, they don't want faxes coming into their location, unless it was sales-related (and they could bank on you)... not the treatment I expected as a once-loyal client. I see things in businesses daily, where if I conducted business like them, I'd be out of business... Incredible Was with Geico for about 10 years and added our 16-year-old son. Of course he got into a small rear end in his high school parking lot. Geico dropped him. Signed up via internet years ago. Billing comes from San Diego, so this is not a specific review for the Costa Mesa office. I have been accident and ticket free since the day I signed up over a decade ago. Yet, my rates are consistently being increased recently with each bill. First $12, then $25, then $5, etc. Based on my driving record and qualified discounts this should not be happening at that frequency. I can't tell you if Geico is a good car insurance company as I have never (thank God) had the need to use their services. This review does not reflect on any agent, but the company's service, when I needed them. I have had a bundled package for years, including home, auto and umbrella (personal liability). I never had an occasion to make an insurance claim, until recently, when my gas tank was tampered with, leaving a cut-off hose jammed in, at the fill point. This was discovered by me, as I tried to fill the nearly empty tank on Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach. I called the emergency number, using my cell phone, which had about 25% of the battery remaining. I was shuffled between numerous agents...telling me to hold the line, while not being able to get a service provider to me. Their office was located in Georgia and I was told by one person that it was difficult to find someone in California because it was so late and I was probably in the middle of nowhere. It was only 9PM local time and I was not down some country road, as they claimed! Another was trying to contact a supervisor without success. Another was sure a service person could be found, but apparently, all the ones that could be found would not or could not take the assignment, for liability reasons. They wouldn't tow me to a dealership, because the dealership was closed. The list goes on. Each of these GEICO people knew my phone battery was getting lower by the minute. I was told that even if the phone battery died, they would keep working on this until they got me help. I asked if I should find someone. They said I wouldn't be covered, until their efforts had been exhausted. My phone battery died...I waited another hour for someone to show up...then walked home alone. In the morning, I called GEICO. Nothing but excuses. No access to a Manager although a callback was promised. GEICO road service is worthless!!!! I asked for a refund and still have not received it. Their customer service is worthless too. In the meantime I went back to AAA for the Auto Club and am looking for a reliable insurance company. GEICO may have been a little less expensive, but when I relied on their commitment, it was nonexistent. I now doubt that any of their other insurances are reliable. What is the point of making regular payments...and not getting backed up when you need it? My recommendation is to look elsewhere for your insurance needs. Worst insurance ever!!!! The adjuster called to tell me about their determination. She pretty much told me that I'm 80% at fault for the cause of the accident. Okay, so I'm already 75% in the intersection (my light was green) but still have to yield to traffic? I'm not turning I'm going straight!!!! As I was trying to get her to look at my photos, which I clearly labelled, she cuts me off and just told me "well we've already decided you're 80% at fault." What the eff?!!! WORST INSURANCE COMPANY EVER!!!! THEY DONT PAY THEIR INSURERS CLAIMS. My boyfriend and I have had both our cars fully insured by Geico for the past 2 years and have never had to file any claim. Then one of our cars gets side swiped on a major street a couple of months ago and we finally have to use our insurance. We file a claim and they tell us it's okay to take to a shop. Then they send an adjuster to see damage and then another "specialist" to see if the damage indeed matches our story. Keep in mind this process took over 2 weeks and we pay monthly to to include a car rental in our policy, incase anything ever happens to our car, ( like in this situation).They tell us to go ahead and rent a car. Then call us after to tell us that we have to return the rental and take the car out of the shop and cover all the fees until they decide whether they're going accept or deny the claim! Like what?! What do we pay insurance every month for then?! During all this process, they also let us know we have to renew our insurance and charge us $280 to renew. Which we were okay with because we obviously need insurance and we also had no idea they were going to call us and let us know that they decided to deny our claim because the car had 2 types of colors on the damage. What fault do we have that the car had 2 different colors on the damage? How are we able to control what the other car may have looked like?! It was a hit and run! We were already stressed out by seeing our car (which we work hard for) damaged, but we had slight hope and relief that we had full coverage insurance, which we pay for and that they would give us peace of mind and would take care of the problem. Instead they treated us like fraud. So we were left to figure it out on our own. We had to pay for our car to get fixed out of our own pocket and storage fees from the body shop as well. WHATEVER YOU DO, STAY AWAY FROM THIS INSURANCE!!!! They will do whatever it takes to not have to cover your claim! They are scamming people every month out of their money. I had an accident in 2011 with my GTO. The body shop fixed the body work but not anything drivetrain related. Before I deployed I drove the car down the street and immediately brought it to the body shop. They said they would contact Geico, but never did. After coming back from deployment, I contacted Geico. Unable to wait for repairs, I was forced to drive from WI to CA with a bad bearing, leaking yoke seal and unbalanced drive shaft. Now because it has been a year and a half and 3,000 mi Chris Landry said he did not see how the issues were accident related and did not care if I was on deployment. Chris Landry was absolutely disrespectful and refused to listen to my situation. His tone with me suggested that no matter if I brought it to a new shop, he would not approve the repairs, ultimately discouraging me to continue based off my finacial situation. read more

I'm writing this review so people may learn from my awful experience with GEICO. I have been a loyal GEICO customer for years, but after my recent auto accident I have painfully realized that not all auto insurance is the same. If you are with GEICO because they are slightly cheaper, you should be aware of their terrible accident coverage policies. After my vehicle was deemed totaled, my settlement was 20% less than the market value. Here is why: Per policy, GEICO will NOT pay for any body shop storage charges from, "the date of accident to the date your vehicle has been determined a total loss". In many cases storage maybe weeks and GEICO will subtract the storage fees from your settlement!! Also, per policy, if your vehicle is deemed to be a total loss, GEICO will not compensate you for a car warranty when calculating your vehicle valuation. However, if your vehicle is repairable, GEICO will try to use recycled (used) parts as much as possible. In my case, they approved parts that were rusted for the steering components of my vehicle!! If you chose GEICO to save some money, and are involved in an accident (minor or major), I would highly recommend you to hire a lawyer on contingency basis to protect yourself against GEICO's extremely strict and low payout polices. DO NOT let this happen to you: Last month, when I was involved in a major accident, I called GEICO to notify them of the accident. They informed me that I can take it to any body shop (because they have to by law) and that they would cover all the costs. However, as I later learned, if you take it to a body shop of your choice, you are on your own. GEICO took nearly 4 weeks to determine my car was totaled. After that determination, they denied coverage for the most of storage fees and subtracted $3000 from my settlement!! I was in contact with GEICO every 2-3 days doing my duty to expedite the repair. However, never during the process, did the GEICO adjuster explain to me that they had a policy cap for storage charges. Instead, they let the storage charges continue in the thousands of dollars without ever telling me or the body shop they would only pay for 1 week of storage. Moreover, they tried to repair my vehicle with used rusted steering component parts ( I have pictures to prove it!). I highly encourage you to seek free legal counsel if you are involved in an accident. If you do select your own body shop (per your legal right), then get a lawyer on contingency basis (you don't pay anything), to protect yourself against the deceitful practices of GEICO. Because the timing of the repair process is in GEICO's hands, you cannot control the storage fees and they will hold your fully liable for most of these costs and subtract it from your settlement. Based on my conversations with several body shops, the application of their policies are not standardized and are on a "case-by-case" basis per the discretion of the claim manager. Consumers may also file a complaint with the Department of Insurance. read more

I am very disappointed at Geico, because I lost my job at end of August and didn't qualify for unemployment. Due to this, which isn't a fault of mine, I called to speak to a manager and they said there's no manager available, and they want to refer me to a supervisor but I told them I wanted to speak to a manager, so I hang up. And I called again, and was told a manager will get back to me but never happened. So I tried to call again and I got the same answer. After so many tries, I was transferred to a supervisor, I explained my situation that I lost my job and it was before my due date and explained that since I lost my job I had to close my checking account, and told I would like to pay my acct. and it's before the due date. They informed me that I would be charge a bounced fee. And asked why, when bank says they don't charged them a fee. They said that's their rule. I think it was ridiculous and have no mercy or compassion to someone going thru hardship. And finally, a supervisor understand my situation and willing to waive the fee and was told that I would be charged 4.00 for using a credit card and that could not be waived, and have to wait 'till they waived the 20.00 before I pay, and that they would call me, unfortunately, they didn't call me and I called them just before the bill was due and asked them if it went thru yet so I can pay the bill. And they said it's been waive and I wouldn't be charge a late fee and I told them I had just got a job and had a bank account set up for bill pay and they said that the new bill was sent out and I would be charge another 4.00 and I asked why when I haven't received the bill, and bill isn't due till 2 weeks from then when I had already added a new bank acct before I even got my bill. I think it was really ridiculous of what they're doing. Our vehicle was damaged in a rear-end accident for which GEICO has accepted responsibility on behalf of its insured. GEICO refuses to pay a reasonable amount to repair our vehicle. A local bodyshop gave us a detailed estimate for $4100, a fair price to repair a bumper, touch up paint, and replace an entire back hatchback. However, GEICO estimates the repair should cost only $3700 -- but refuses to give us the name of a bodyshop in our area which will actually do the repair for this amount. Therefore, we are left with a hypothetical "estimate" and an offer pay us amount which is less than the reasonable amount of repair. We have no choice but to either pay the difference ourselves our file a small claims complaint, as GEICO refused to pay the damages it owes, i.e., "the reasonable cost of repairing" the vehicle. read more

Geico is the WORST. I had them for years with no problems. Then suddenly the price jumped up by 20 bucks a month even though I've never been in a car accident or had a speeding ticket and 30 years old. But I was ok with that. THEN they demanded I put the payments on automatic payments and I was fine with that. Here's where the problem is, I go over seas for a few months for work and my bank accounts were all frozen due to my identity being stolen. So when I come back, my insurance had lapsed just by 4 days because the payment failed. When I call to get the insurance reinstated, I was told "Well you have to pay the balance you owe first and THEN once that is paid, we will only accept payment for the full 6 months" I was so surprised I asked the woman why and she said "Well since the automatic payment didn't go through, they will only accept full payment" So that's insane since it will be a full $1,400 for 2 cars on the policy. So over 5 years of being a customer means nothing. I've read stories where when you've had them for over 5 years without incidence and know a few people that say this has also happened to them, They try to find ways to cancel your policy to keep all that money they've taken over the years. This needs to be investigated by the BBB quickly ! or even the feds. But with everyone being so corrupt, I doubt anything will ever happen. read more

When I decided to go with Geico I thought they were great but the moment I was in an accident ( not at fault) they were very unhelpful ! If you have a leased vehicle do not get a policy with Geico ! I had my car for two months and they wanted to install after market parts ! I keep all my leased vehicles in great condition especially because I have a contract with Mercedes Benz ! On top of it all they wanted me to pay the difference for needing factory parts ! The staff was professional but it was clear that they are not as knowledgeable once you start asking specific questions. One thing I can say that is positive is their app. Treat your policy holders better and if you don't want to take care of someone who's in a lease then don't offer insurance to leased vehicles . read more

Waiting over 45 minutes on the phone to get a tow truck, and still can not find one in a major town. Waisted money on bs insurance.

GEICO is HORRIBLE for auto insurance. I would give negative infinity stars If i could. Don't sign up for it. It took a Geico adjuster 1 week after the body shop I took my car to, to go out there to approve additional damages the shop found. On top of that, additional damages were found again and my car was already completed but the Geico Adjuster never sent the approval so the shop couldn't release my car. And this is a week after my 30 day car rental policy maxed out so I didn't have a car for the past week. I spoke to the GEICO adjuster today and he said he was going to call the body shop to speak to them so I can get my car today but he never did. I called the shop and was told that they never received a call from my adjuster. And since today is Friday and my car won't be released, I'm not going to get it back until maybe Monday so I'm going to be without a car for the weekend. Totally unacceptable! If the GECIO adjuster had only gone out in a reasonable time to approve the first additional damages that were found, the body shop could've started working on my car sooner and it would've been done a week ago. The cost of the repairs was also about 90% of the value of my car and they didn't total it. GEICO is BAD BAD BAD. Avoid them. read more
