Out favorite gelato spot in the South Bay! I don't think we can ever visit Valley Fair and Eataly without a stop here for gelato. They change their flavors often so it's always fun to try new ones, and they do such a great job of making their flavors taste so fresh and vibrant. I'm always impressed especially by their fruit flavors which taste like the most ripe and fresh versions of them. The recent Peach flavor we tried was like biting into a ripe peach, skin and all. But my favorite will always be one of their mainstay flavors, Stracciatella (sweet milk and chocolate chips) - tastes like fresh creamy milk with thin crunchy chocolate shards. There's usually tables to sit at along the side of further at the back, or also back in the mall area.

Within the Valley Fair mall, there's like 4 ice cream shops to choose from. If you are looking for some traditional classic gelato flavors, this is the place. It's located on the 1st floor of Eataly. They have more than enough variety of flavors to choose from and even have dairy-free, vegan options as well. They do allow you to sample up to 3 flavors. Service was very good - staff were friendly and did not rush you. There's always a line, but it moves relatively fast. They have a cute little fridge by the entrance of the line where you can get ice cream pints and ice cream bars for those who prefer to "skip the line." They have interesting ice cream bar flavors including pistachio covered in salted caramel, pistachio ice cream covered in dark chocolate & pistachio granola and pistachio ice cream with white chocolate. For this visit, we tried the Italian Pistachio gelato and the Caffe Espresso gelato. Both were amazingly strong in their respective flavors and such a pleasure to eat. I would say it's a bit on the sweeter side, but definitely, less sweet than Salt & Straw ice cream. The pistachio used in their gelato are imported from Italy. The texture of the gelato was creamy and thick enough to be close to an ice cream. Highly recommend!! Will return to try out their other flavors.

This place is heaven! No need to say anything else! Everything is yummy form the dessert to the coffee! Today I had the affogato and it did not disappoint!

We finally tried this gelato shop inside Eataly, Westfield Valley Fair Mall, and it was delicious! They have a good selection of flavors. I chose California Blossom, with orange and almond flavors and a hazelnut with chocolate. The California Blossom was light and refreshing while the chocolate hazelnut one was quite rich and delectable. My husband also got the California Blossom and salted caramel. He loved both flavors. You need to buy the medium sized cup to get two flavors. I was taken off guard when asked if I wanted a topping and did not select one, but probably will next time. We will definitely be back to try more flavors!

I really love this gelato place. The gelato is so flavorful and it has a nice fruity flavor. The corazon is one of my new seasonal flavors but the california blossom is so yummy. I really love trying their flavors.

The pistachio gelato is the way to go. They allow up to 3 tastes per person before buying. Here's the run-down: 4.7: California blossom gelato. It's orange with almond extract, with almond slices and bits of candied peel. Oddly fantastic. 4.6: Pistachio or hazelnut gelato: both are very good. Tastes like it was made with real nuts. It is very melty; they do not use fancy emulsifiers. In an Instagram post, the owner says that she uses Pistachios from Bronte and Hazelzuts from Piemonte. Which means they are losing money on every scoop. 4.0: Peach gelato/sorbet: It's very icy like a sorbet. It's pink; it probably included peach skin for color. 3.5: Raspberry gelato. Flavor is not that great. 3.2: Mango sorbet. Flavor is a little artificial. It has the sour off-puting note that mango sometimes has. 3.0: Lemon sorbet: Too sweet. Astringently sour. 3.0: Capricco gelato: Chocolate and hazelnut. Too sweet. Very strong fudge flavor. 3.0: Coconut gelato. It's "young coconut flavor". It has bits of shredded coconut, not as good as marianne's macapuno. 2.5: Taste of fig gelato: Flavor is bad; too generic sweet. 2.5: Taste of strawberry gelato; Not impressive. 2.0: Salted caramel gelato. It's a generic yellow custard base, with not much caramel flavor. 2.0: Coccant amarena: Cherries and chocolate chips. The flavor combo doesn't work.

I'd be craving gelato for quite some time having cut down on desserts for a while! Pistachio gelato is my favorite. Having seen them previously at Valley fair, I'd eyed up both this place and Venchi to get my gelato and was confused, and then Venchi on the day told me they ran out of Pistachio. Well, easy choice! I must say I just found it decent. I have had better pistachio gelato. Maybe I just didn't like its flavor. They were generous with their toppings for sure. Went around closing time so not much crowd here. In fact at the time I didn't see a crowd at Venchi either. Btw, it was tough for me to find this place through Eataly, took me around 15 minutes I suppose and that wasn't ideal. May or may not come back.

I Must Conefess Official Gelato purveyor for six of the nine US Eataly locations, and is the brainchild of an Italian 2nd generation gelato chef, Patrizia Pasqualetti. The Good: *All gelato are made in-house with only quality ingredients, and they have dairy-free and gluten-free options, as well. *Friendly and fast service *Fair pricing for the quality *Housemade waffle cones *Flavors change with the seasons *Their Caffé flavor, made w/ Lavazza Espresso, is the most coffiest flavor that ever coffee'd. Holy smokes! There is no need for a pick-me-up after that bad boy. 0_o *The Hazelnut flavor was really mild testing but has a deep, natural flavor. I also appreciate that their gelato isn't too sweet. *Outdoor and indoor seating, but it's first come, first served basis. The Meh: *Always a line, but it goes pretty fast. The ladies behind the counter hustle and keep things moving at breakneck speed. *Can't get two flavors unless you get the medium size. The Ugly: *Valley Fair is always a shit-show, but that T intersection coming off of Stevens Creek & Santana Row is a complete and utter disaster of traffic engineering. Quite frankly, I'm shocked someone isn't killed there at least once a week. Conclusion: Absolutely amazing gelato. Highly recommended.

Putting in a new pistachio gelato

Came here to try their new milkshakes they started offering - ordered a pistachio milkshake, and while the flavor is exceptional, I found that the woman making my milkshake added way too much milk, making it a pistachio milk instead of a milkshake. I like my milkshakes thicker, almost full ice cream and very cold. If you go here, make sure to tell them you like it thick! It was about $11 after taxes for a milkshake.. pretty expensive if you ask me! You can also sample their other gelato flavors. I'd give the milkshake a 3/5, but their gelato in general is very yummy.

The gelato here is so yummy. I've tried strawberry (non-dairy), tiramisu, panna cotta raspberry (this one was really sweet to me), and hazelnut - it was all tasty. I was surprised at how creamy the strawberry was and how it captured the natural taste of strawberries perfectly. Service is great and I prefer the gelato here to Venchi's gelato, highly recommend stopping by as the lines are shorter and flavors are tastier here. Ambience is casual. Don't remember seeing a bathroom inside but there's plenty of bathrooms in the mall. There are a few tables and seats in the cafe part of Eataly a few feet away.

Dairy-free Mango and Lemon Ginger gelato

After a hearty ramen lunch, we decided to partake with Eataly's gelato. Got really confused why Yelp's business page is labeled "Gelato by Patrizia" whereas the poster states "Il Gelato Di Eataly by Patrizia Pasqualetti". The signage above the shop states, "La Gelateria Artisanal Gelato," so checking in the app and uploading photos was chaotic. Enough jibber jabber and let's review this shop. Decked with the usual gelateria aesthetics (cones, cups & cards), this corner counter is rather odd as the products weren't visible. After sampling a couple of the good stuff, we finalized our choices. My wife and I got the "medio" with two flavors in a cup. We deferred with the optional & delectably displayed toppings that were a dollar each as we wanted to savor the Italian dessert sans mix-ins. I chose the dairy-free and refreshing Lemon & Ginger mixed with Mango. This was my first time with this combo and it was perfect after a greasy lunch. The wife got her usual Pistachio combined with Banana gelato. I'm pretty sure she liked it as she never shared and even finished her dessert way before I was able to consume mine. It was a tad pricey for gelato, but I guess that's to be expected for the location and brand name.

This was a good place near eatItaly of santanaroe. It is located in the prime area of the mall and it offers multiple different items along with gelato really creative and how they serve your gelato. You can get it on a cone cup or croissant or some cookies. They have very limited menu, which makes it very easy to pick what you like. There is a dairy and a dairy free gelato , there are very creative gelato that I saw today one was orange vanilla and almond together in one which was by far the best that I had and there was a pistachio which we loved tasting and there was a milk and fig gelato which was super delicious too. The service was pretty good. We got to try a lot of gelatos before we made our choice and this is cool areas to hang out with your family, friends or a date. Make sure you go climb up that restaurant and get your hands on some nice wine and some Italian food too.

Nocciola & Bacio Gelato Single Scoop
    Julianna P.

Nocciola and Bacio -- hazelnut goodness! The nocciola is plain hazelnut while the bacio has crunchy bits in it from the nut and chocolate bits. It's very nice and creamy and the hazelnut flavor is prominent. Overall quick service. The gelato is on the pricier side. There's other flavors that I sampled, but hazelnut flavors were the most delicious!

The gelato was so creamy that it's almost hard to believe it's vegan/non-dairy. The flavors were also so on point and pleasant, without being too sweet. After trying all of the flavors, we ended up getting two 3-scoop cups: one with 2 scoops Jasmine Oreo, 1 scoop Chai and one with 2 scoops Black Tea, 1 scoop Matcha The Jasmine Oreo is so good! I'm not usually a green milk tea OR oreo person but this flavor could easily convert me. I also highly recommend the Black Tea flavor. If I had to pick between the milk tea ice cream from Dr.ink and this, I'll pick this hands-down! It tastes so much more like milk tea to me, who is a "50% sweet, 50% ice" kinda gal. I highly recommend!! Also, check out their Instagram for info on their next flavors/popup location.

We found Loafy Shark Desserts vegan gelato when we went to the Vegan Donut Cafe in San Jose last…read moreSaturday. Loafy Shark had a pop up there that weekend. We tried the three flavors they had (matcha green tea, matcha green tea with oreo, and jasmine tea with oreo). The matcha green tea base is really good and you taste the matcha green tea. The price is very reasonable too. A cup with 3 small scoops of each flavor for $5. We liked it so much that we went back on Sunday to try the black tea and chai tea flavors. The tea flavors really come through the ice cream. The black tea flavor is subtle though, but I like it. So we ordered a pint of matcha oreo and a pint of black tea on their website on Monday, and just picked them up today! Loafy Shark looks to be a brand new startup. There's not a "store front" yet. The owner said she's testing out new flavors and we can find her pop up locations on Instagram. If you are interested in tea-flavored gelato or just want vegan gelato/ice cream, I highly recommend Loafy Shark!
