Creme Brulee Matcha Hurricane and a Matcha black sesame ice cream swirl
    Audrey M.

I've been here a couple more times since it first opened a few years ago in which I didn't have the best experience. I would say it has improved a lot since then. I'm not a huge matcha fiend, but I did like the ice cream matcha and sesame swirl as well as the crème brûlée matcha drink/dessert. The wait wasn't long for a Saturday an hour before noon, but that can quickly change because a huge line formed a few minutes after ordering. Unfortunately they only have one digital kiosk and the lines can get long. You can also go to the front to order. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is no seating inside, but there are some tables outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Came around 6 pm on a weekday and it was pretty quiet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered quickly on the self serve kiosk and drink came out quickly too. Not able to adjust the sweetness for the creme brulee matcha so it got kinda sweet. The matcha was creamy and heavy but pretty matcha forward. It's more of a dessert drink so it's kinda a lot lol.

I've seen all the hype for the Creme brûlée matcha and finally came to SJ to try it! Wasn't too busy on a weekday around 6PM. Ordered via the tablet and it was ready quickly. Wasn't able to adjust the sweetness, so some sips were a bit sweet from the creme brûlée but some sips were more bitter and matcha-forward. Decent size for the price. I'm not sure if it quite lives up to my expectations (OMOMO has a similar drink which I enjoy) but it's a good, strong and creamy drink, more of a dessert matcha if you're in the mood for that!

    Classic Honey Matcha Tea ($7.50)

Date: Friday, January 30th, 2026 What: Matcha Delivery Ordered Thru: DoorDash DoubleDash Time Placed: around 4:45pm Arrived: about an hour later Neighborhood Delivered to: Evergreen *Classic Honey Matcha Tea ($7.50) *Service Fee ($1.99) I was ordering dinner and decided to add a matcha to it. (I was too lazy to make one at home myself.) I'm a purist so I adore just straight matcha. That wasn't an option here, so I decided to try the honey one. I figured they are known for matcha and I don't mind a tiny bit of sweetness, so this should be fine. I was wrong. The honey was very overwhelming for me. So much so, it took away from what I love about matcha - the delicate grassy notes, slight bitterness, etc. I ended up adding another scoop or two of matcha I had at home to cut into the sweetness. I think the matcha itself was probably fine, though the honey was too much for me. REVIEW #3974

We went on Friday at 4 pm and it wasn't busy at all so we got our drinks pretty fast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The store was almost empty at this point. The store looked kind of dead and did not have a lot of tables + seatings except the long bench.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There's plenty of parking spaces since it's in a plaza. We got 2 of the creme brulee matcha swirl due to the hype of this drink. The cream was extremely thick and just for my preference, it was too much. The matcha was not as strong to balance the sweetness and decadency of the cream. We ended up letting it melt a bit so we can drink the matcha without having to eat chunks of the cream. If you like your matcha thick, then I recommend this drink! It was just not up my alley unfortunately.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is very spacious but only has benches on the side. There's no inside tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You just order from the kiosks and they call your number. You can taste the quality of the matcha at this place, which is very nice and hard to find. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It gets pretty busy and in a busy location.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Izumi Matcha has been a top option for matcha over the past year. While Izumi was popular over the summer of 2025, recently Izumi has been much emptier. The service is great, and they make your drinks very fast. The taste is very consistent, and they do have a large menu with lots of different items other than matcha. My only downside is the variety of matcha over the recent year. From last year and this year, the menu for matcha has not changed much, and it seems like I get the same taste every time I go. While the first time was enjoyable, after it just gets repetitive. I love Izumi, but I really wish there was a rotation between drinks.

SO SO SO good. My mom and I think about this drink so often. There were chunks of creme brulee which we really liked! It was a good mix of matcha and creaminess / richness. We got the drink pretty fast but it also wasn't too busy!

we got the crème brûlée swirl matcha and the strawberry uzu matcha! for me, the crème brûlée matcha is definitely an acquired taste and i personally did not like it but i know my mom enjoyed it. the strawberry uzu matcha is really refreshing, there's no milk in it. izumi matcha is one of the few places where you can get matcha without dairy so def recommend if you prefer that

I came here on a Saturday afternoon, and the line was to right about the door. It moved pretty quickly, about less than 10 minutes to the kiosk. I love that you can get an extra matcha shot for free here! It took about another 10 minutes for them to finish my drink. Definitely not a bad wait, as I've had to wait for a total of an hour at their peak popularity before. Their strawberry matcha latte is decently good. The matcha is a bit astringent with a bitter note, but the strawberry complimented the flavors well. I honestly wouldn't say this is the best matcha quality I've had. The star here is really their crème brûlée matcha hurricane though--I loved how the matcha slush blended with the creamy crème brûlée! Perfect amount of sweetness as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I think they've removed some of the tables inside since I've lasted been here. It's more of a pick up and go location, instead of sit-down.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking can be a pain sometimes in that plaza, so what I like to do is park in the adjacent lot and walk over.

    Larixsa H.

This was my very first time at this location. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were greeted by this homeless dude near the front of the place. We felt extremely safe knowing that there was a private security (homeless dude), an amenity that other Izumi Matcha locations don't provide.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got my usual, the hibiscus yuzu and the matcha creme brûlée. It was super good! Refreshing for the herbal drink and smooth and not too overly sweet for the matcha drink. Parking sucks so keep that in mind though.

Uniqueness: Authentic matcha drinks served here with great quality & not long lines some times! Wait Time: [x][x][x][x][x] Drink Quality: [x][x][x][x][x] Service: [x][x][x][x][ ] Setting: [x][x][x][x][ ] Cost: [x][x][x][x][ ] Recommendation? Matcha Creme Brûlée is must for the sugar lovers, anything matcha is obviously a great choice here. Coming here several times during peak hours and off hours, Izumi Matcha is a great alternative location to go to vs. their other location in Cupertino when it comes to getting some great quality matcha drinks here. They should have all that they offer compared to their Cupertino location and their creme brûlée matcha swirl is a fan favorite here (definitely recommend it for first timers and those who like their drinks on the sweeter side). I've had their honey matcha and hojicha drinks here before too and you can tell the matcha they use is fresh due to the slight bitterness you sometimes get. Lines can be long at time but if you come at off hours, I've seen instances where it was literally 2 people inside & no wait time at all. Staff are friendly and never had any issue with anyone inside making the drinks relatively quick. I'll recommend Izumi Matcha as one of the few drink spots in this packed plaza to choose from and definitely be back for more.

    Diana N.

You order your matcha from the kiosk. Service is pretty fast tbh. My go to drink is the matcha crème brûlée and I like it personally. However, I've noticed that the brûlée can seem a bit chunky when you're sipping the drink? I've gone to this location and the Cupertino and the Cupertino one is definitely slightly better hence the 4 stars. But you can't go wrong coming here if you don't want to drive to Cupertino for the drinks. It'll still be fine. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I will say, the shop is pretty spacious compared to the Cupertino location.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a bench and table for you to sit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]In Cupertino, you'll mostly wait outside because of how crowded it can get.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, still good!

I ordered a large Thai milk tea with honey boba and double espresso shots, along with an order of popcorn chicken. The total came to nearly $24, which would be easier to accept if the quality matched the price. The Thai milk tea, even at 75% sugar and with added double shots, tasted watered down and lacked the rich tea flavor I expected. The honey boba was equally disappointing, with little to no noticeable honey flavor despite being marketed as such. The popcorn chicken was crispy, but I specifically ordered mild seasoning and received something that was noticeably spicy. If you're sensitive to spice, be aware that their definition of "mild" may differ from yours. What disappointed me just as much as the food was the service. There were three young employees working behind the counter who appeared far more engaged in conversations with each other than interacting with customers. There was no greeting, no welcoming atmosphere, and no effort to explain or recommend items from their menu. For a first-time customer, the experience felt indifferent and uninterested. The gaming kiosk tables are unique and appear to be a major feature of the business. However, I left with the impression that much of what customers are paying for is the gaming setup rather than the quality of the food, drinks, or service. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this location. There are many other boba shops and popcorn chicken spots that offer better flavor, better value, and better customer service at similar or lower prices. Given my visit, the numerous glowing reviews don't reflect the experience I received. I came in expecting a highly rated destination and left wondering if the ratings are based more on the gaming tables than the food and drinks themselves.

Today, I decided to try something different and ordered the Strawberry Milk Tea, substituting oat milk since I can't have whole milk. When my drink was served, it had the consistency of a slushie, and it didn't appear that oat milk had been added because the color never changed. Every other Strawberry Milk Tea I saw being served was a light pink, while mine looked completely different. I politely let the cashier know that I wasn't happy with my drink and asked if it would be possible to have it remade or exchanged. She went to the back to speak with someone, and when she returned, she told me they couldn't replace it. Instead, she offered to make it sweeter and gave me a 25% discount on my next drink. While I appreciated the discount, I was disappointed with how the situation was handled. In my experience, most businesses are willing to remake or replace a drink when it isn't prepared as expected, especially when there may have been an issue with the order. I've always enjoyed coming here, which is why this experience was disappointing. I hope the team will consider handling situations like this differently in the future to maintain the great customer service that keeps customers coming back.

The donuts were made to order, and I still remember the two young employees who worked there. They'd happily let you know it might take a few minutes because they wanted you to experience the product the way it was meant to taste. That kind of pride in what you're serving is rare, and it made a real impression. There's something different about that kind of enthusiasm coming from employees versus an owner. An owner has an obvious stake in selling you on something, but when the people making your food are genuinely excited for you to try it, that energy is contagious. You can't help but feed off of it. Fast forward to this year. My daughter loves coming here since we frequently visit the amazing Chinese restaurant next door (China Delight-highly recommend), so I've brought her a few times. Unfortunately, it's been a different experience. The donuts are always pre-made, and the focus seems to be more on cleaning and closing down than on having a fresh product ready for customers. To be fair, the staff is always friendly and I do appreciate a clean shop , but when I'm choosing between a spotless floor and a donut worth eating, I'd rather have the latter. I'll note that I usually come a bit after dinnertime, so maybe timing plays a role. But after a few visits with the same result, it feels more like a shift in priorities than bad luck. I genuinely hope this place finds its way back to what made it great. The bones are there. The location is great, the staff is kind, and clearly there's a customer base that wants to love this place. In this case, one of these spots is Arisan. Since Matcha has exploded in popularity to my annoyance, (I say this because I was into Matcha before it started trending), I had to try. Once inside, everything looks aesthetically pleasing with seating on either side up against the walls. The layout is clean and non cluttered which I can appreciate from a design standpoint. The menu is clearly displayed on the countertop and it's nice to see that you still have an actual person to take your order. No iPad ordering here. Please keep it that way! I also loved the high ceilings and bright light from the floor to ceiling windows in the front. As you look to the right, you can also see all the Arisan branded products including canvas tote bags and loose leaf tea canisters lining the wall shelves. Nice touch. Now let's get to the good stuff. They specifically told me about one drink that was so unique and refreshing. Which drink was it? **Matcha Cloud Coconut Water $8.95- 100% fresh young coconut water + Matcha cream: This drink was so unique because the coconut water was so distinct and refreshing. The Matcha cream sat on top before slowly trickling down to mix in with the coconut water. I would have never thought to put these 2 flavors together. It was delicious especially on a day where it was 97 degrees here in SJ.

Stopped by to try their matcha because the menu looked intriguing. The interior was adorable, the…read moreservice was friendly, and our drinks came out within about five minutes. The strawberry matcha einspänner was beautifully presented, with strawberry jam at the bottom and a thick layer of strawberry foam on top. Unfortunately, the flavor and texture did not quite live up to the presentation. Even after mixing it thoroughly, the matcha tasted thin and was overpowered by an overly sweet, artificial strawberry flavor. It may be a fun choice for someone looking for a cute, sweet drink to photograph, but serious matcha lovers may find it underwhelming. The honey matcha was an even bigger miss for us. That said, they offer several unique drinks, including pennywort-based options, that I have not seen elsewhere and may be worth trying instead. Overall, the space and presentation were lovely, but the matcha itself fell short of expectations.
