Came here twice with my boo because their drinks slap! The Hojicha latte is not too sweet and very roasted, nutty, and smooth. The matcha crème brûlée swirl drank seemed to be their popular drink because a lot of those were being whipped up when we were waiting for our order. It looks aesthetically pleasing, but damn she thicck. It's like a milkshake and you need a big boba straw to get the liquid through. It was good but my boo said it was sorta a challenge to drink. A spoon is needed to thoroughly mix things together. The 2nd time around we ordered the matcha latte and the Hojicha cheese mousse. The Hojicha was a little stronger in flavor since there was no milk added to it. The cheese mousse was thick. I started drinking it through the sip top but eventually went in with a straw to mix it up. The hint of saltiness from the foam paired pretty well with the tea. My guy got the matcha latte with oat milk and the oat flavor is pretty overpowering. You'd taste the oat and then the matcha. It was okay but my boo finished it with no complaints. The shop is small but there's a long bench and a few tables to sip and chill. You mainly order from the kiosk, but when a long line forms, a human assists with ordering. The drink competition is strong in the plaza that they're in. There's at least 3 other boba shops in the same strip they're in and 2 more across the way. But Izumi stayed pretty busy the times we were there. Parking is kinda limited though because they're in a busy plaza. The last time we came we parked across at Target nearby and walked over. Overall, great Hojicha and matcha. The prices are decent for the area. They'll charge you if you want a cup of ice btw. Service is quick. Ordered the strawberry matcha latte with oatmilk on Sat afternoon around 4pm. Not alot of people inside but they also only have one table with seats and just a long bench along the side. Only thing u can customize is one or two matcha shots( got 1 bc it's later in the day) and ice level and oat milk ($1 extra). So $8.70 for my drink. It came out pretty quickly and looked good. I've been here a couple more times since it first opened a few years ago in which I didn't have the best experience. I would say it has improved a lot since then. I'm not a huge matcha fiend, but I did like the ice cream matcha and sesame swirl as well as the crème brûlée matcha drink/dessert. The wait wasn't long for a Saturday an hour before noon, but that can quickly change because a huge line formed a few minutes after ordering. Wowowow finally got to try Izumi's drinks. Not sure if they need another 5 star review lol, this place is heavily known by matcha lovers and SJ locals. What I had: - Lychee Matcha (double matcha, regular sweet, regular ice) - Yuzu Matcha (double matcha, regular sweet, regular ice). Double matcha was not overly strong or caffeinating to me (love that they do not charge extra for this option btw)- my caff tolerance I'd say is relatively high or above average for sure. Surprisingly, at that matcha level the taste is not overly bitter at all. And the regular sweet is perfect (I normally get 50% sweet at boba shops). Same with the ice level, I think their regular ice level is fine (I normally get less ice at boba shops). The Lychee matcha has great lychee taste, not artificial tasting, it's a great blend of both lychee + matcha. The Yuzu is leaning towards the 'lemonade' profile without being overly citrusy. More refreshing than the lychee matcha, but both are refreshing anyways due to the nature of their flavors! I think I prefer the lychee matcha normally, honestly hard to say which flavor is better! I thoroughly enjoyed both these drinks! Their flavors are blended well with the matcha- not overly sweet in flavor, and matcha is great quality while not overly powerful or bitter.
