That the scoops were generous is a huge plus, but make sure to bring some friends to share with! I had their pistachio, matcha, ube, and maple pecan, struggling to even finish a quarter after dinner. We stopped by after dinner nearby, and it was a great way to end the night. I got one scoop of ube and another of maple roasted butter pecan. Both were really good. It was creamy and rich in flavor without being too heavy. Service was good, and even though there was a small line, it moved pretty quickly. Pretty solid spot for quick dessert. Gelato shop right next to the entrance to the San Pedro Square, so tiny that you might miss it! (In fact I did for a while) But don't let the size fool you. I had a scoop of their Belgian Dark Chocolate. Often times, the ice scream shop slap on some fancy sounding name like "Authentic French Vanilla" or "Real Tahiti Coconut" or something like, that just to hit you with a bland, mid experience. But here, the chocolate truly was dark, rich flavor. You can taste the complex coco flavor leading you into chocolate decadence. It's a perfect sweet stop for a night out, or just stop by for some good gelato anytime. Great service too! read more

Tucked in corner of San Pedro Square market, you might walk past this place without noticing but the gelato here is incredible! They offer samples so don't be shy to ask to try a flavor. They have an ube flavor and that alone gives them 5 stars in my book. You can get your gelato in a cup, cone, with a brownie or even on top of a nice hot chocolate chip cookie. They have pints you can purchase and they even have gelato for dogs! The staff is super friendly and this if definitely a hidden gem! read more

I love myself a good sweet treat and the day I stopped by, it was sooo hot! So naturally, the best decision I could make was to stop by here and get myself a gelookie. The guy behind the counter was super patient and nice and I ended up ordering coffee chocolate chip gelato on top of a chocolate chip cookie. DELICIOUS. SCRUMPTIOUS. The cookie was a bit hard, but I like my cookies with a chew and the gelato was great. Super sweet, super satisfying. Excited to see this cute little gelato shop open by the front doors of the food hall in San Pedro Square Market. With a decent selection to choose from, they really prioritized the quality and taste of their products. I was able to sample some flavors and ended up picking the hazelnut chocolate crunch and coffee chocolate chip. Both flavors were really rich and delicious- the strong coffee taste paired well with the chocolate and the tiny bits of crunch in the hazelnut gelato was so satisfying. When you call something "The Gelato Shop", it's got to be the place to get your gelato fix. Well it definitely is in San Pedro Square! It is tucked away in one of the entrances right next to the ParkSJ garage, with the tempting ice cream displayed front and center. I opted for the Sicilian pistachio and cookies and cream to get a taste of the classics in both countries. The pistachio was probably one of the best I have ever had. It wasn't too sweet with a strong pistachio flavor, giving it that perfect balance. The cookies and cream was solid, but took away from the feel of eating a smooth and creamy gelato. However the quality of the gelato itself felt really nice. I will definitely frequent this place as the gelato place whenever I'm in downtown. I'm a huge fan! read more

The flavor was so good and creamy I came back to have it again, but they rotate the flavors, so I did not try any others. I live less than a mile from here and walk to The Gelato Shop more than twice a week...I really wish it were consistent. The bad- Closing hours are not as posted. We've come several times where the shop is cleaned and closed 15 minutes before closing. Most recent example was last night. We made sure to arrive around 8:50p (20 minutes before closing @9:15). San Pedro was very busy for a Tuesday and all the stores were booming and open. Not the Gelato Shop. Lastly, not all scoopers scoop equally, especially if a flavor is running low on a busy night. Was curious about this place after noticing a couple of times as I pass through San Pedro Market, so I decided to give it a shot. There's not much ambiance as it's tucked away in a specific corner of San Pedro Market, so you either see it immediately or potentially gloss over it entirely depending on which entrance you take. The server didn't notice me initially as I was looking at the flavors, but once I finally got around to ordering he seemed friendly. There only appears to be one person working at a time, and they appear to rotate through different people. I decided to try out "Spumoni" as I had never heard of it before, and found out that it's a combination of fudge, cherry and pistachio ice cream. The fudge goes well with the cherry, which had a strong cherry flavor that just barely managed to avoid tasting like medicine, as cherry-flavored things tend to do. The pistachio was much weaker but it was likely because the other flavors were much stronger, but I'm unsure if this is normal for spumoni or not. Either way, it was a good experience, and the server made sure I was getting my money's worth as he had added an additional scoop when the first one wasn't big enough. One scoop totaled to exactly $5.50, which I'd say was probably decent. It's a nice place, and I might consider coming here again to try a different flavor if I'm with a friend. read more

I ordered an affogato. It came with two small scoops of ice cream of your choice topped with a shot of espresso. I went with the vanilla. The gelato was okay, not very creamy compared to other spots like Eataly or Venchi. Espresso was good and paired well with the vanilla. Tasted a lot like the coffee ice cream without the artificial aftertaste you get from some brands. read more

I recently tried the gelato from San Pedro Square and can confirm it was a good experience! I chose lemon and mango sorbet. The first few spoonfuls were bursting with delicious mango and lemon flavors. You can clearly taste both flavors, and they don't clash with each other. I saw people getting ice cream and was curious where they got it so made my way to the marketplace looking for ice cream. I wanted a vegan option because I'm lactose intolerant and they had mango and passion fruit flavors. The passion fruit gelato was oh SO good!! It was perfectly tart and super refreshing. It's not artisanal or local. 3/5: Dark chocolate was good. $5.50 for one scoop, which is not bad. We were walking around after dinner at Farmers Union when the aroma of freshly made waffle cones took over my senses. It's a tiny little spot that has only been there a few months but I'm so glad it is there! As someone who can't have dairy, I needed a place like this in San Pedro Square. My 13 month old was so excited when he saw the options and we decided to go with Passionfruit sorbetto. It was tarte and not too sweet which was perfect for us since I limit this sugar intake. They let you taste flavors and they had a great assortment of classics and exciting flavors. The staff are super friendly and helpful. I didn't try the waffle cones because I was pretty stuffed from dinner but I'm sure they taste as good as they smell. The only downside is the price. A small scoop is $6 plus tip which is pricey if you're buying for multiple people (not my case but I do think about larger families). read more

The gelato here is pretty solid. I usually get the dark chocolate and espresso. There are about a dozen flavors in the case to choose from. You can split your single scoop and make it two flavors for a small charge. It's just a small space at the entrance of the market, but even with a line, the male employee kept the line moving with a good flow. read more

One of the best desserts I've ever had in my life, including all vacations or bakeries or anywhere I've been, right in downtown where I am all the time. This is my third time at Marco Polo and it really hit the spot. The location is in Vietnam Town, on the far right side, next to Pho 90.
