This review is based on take out only... I recently ordered from their website and I loved how easy the site was to navigate. It allows you the option to leave a note for your order as well as select anything you want to add like additional meat or seafood. We haven't ordered in a while and wanted to give it another try. The delivery arrived prior to the expected time and everything was hot and fresh. I ordered the shrimp Florentine with extra shrimp and it was very good! This was the first time my husband & I tried Genaros Pizza. We decided to do takeout and eat at home. I ordered an ex-large cheese pizza, half with meatballs. When my husband got home we opened the box only to discover that the whole pizza contained meatballs. My husband doesn't eat meatballs so he had to pick all of them off each slice. A little gem of a restaurant on short Beach Rd it's well worth parking in the back of the building and walking upfront, now if you enjoy Bacon or Mashed potatoes you have to try there Mashed Potato with Bacon I always order extra bacon (because don't all good pizza include bacon on it) along with cheese pizza and Antipasto salad a little weak it needed a little bit more (green olives-yellow peppers) we ate a table inside very enjoyable, we liked it so much that we made plans to go back with friends the following weekend. read more

Recently ordered a pizza from Genaros. Been wanting to try! Got a medium with cutlet and cherry peppers on it. Pie was good size, sauce good but was a little disappointed how sparse the toppings were especially the chicken cutlet. Some pieces of pizza didn't have cutlet on them or only a tiny piece. It's been a while since I sang the praises of this restaurant. They have some of my favorite pizza in the area so I am here again giving this place 5 stars. Something about their sauce on the pizza it is amazing and we do love it. We always take our pizza to go and eat home so I can't speak about the restaurant experience but all I know is they consistently have really great pizza time and time again. Visiting this area and was in need of dinner to be delivered. Genaros came to the rescue! My meal was delivered to the house well before I expected. It was quite a pleasant surprise. I ordered a shrimp salad. It wasn't the best salad I've ever had... but I mean it's a salad lol. It was still delicious. I don't eat a lot of dairy or meat (other than seafood) so I don't have a ton of options here. However, I would order from here again. read more

Our 2nd try here and to be honest prob our last. Good is just ok, we had several dishes this visit and each one had its own issues. Our server was friendly and helpful and the place was very clean. The seating however is very uncomfortable metal patio chairs? We have ordered pizza from this place in the past also and it was also off the mark. I had one of their signature dishes and it had all the ingredients for a great dish but lacked flavor. Calzone came out with cold sauce? Baked shells were tasty but also Luke warm. Your mileage may vary, but our mileage has ended. We like to support local businesses please give them a try but if you are expecting Italian you may decide it's more kind of Italian. read more

Went because it was ranked among Top 3 in the Shoreline Magazine. One of those pizzas where if it weren't in the New Haven area or NYC it would be the best pizza in the city, but for being in the area I tend to be more critical of pizza. I think I would have almost just preferred a cheese pizza than getting any toppings. For paying $4 a topping I would have expected more toppings than what we got. Seemed like there just wasn't much toppings added, maybe 1 or 2 pieces of pepperoni per slice. Pizza tasted great, but couldn't really taste the toppings. read more

tried a lg calzone and pizza calzone ok taste, but the ricotta was liquid. The large pie was at best a small the pie in size. The crust was 2- 2 1/2 " thick from outer to start of the pizza. Basically a ring of crust with a little sauce & mozz. also very put off about price online menu and p/u cost varies place has potential but in my opinion, not worth it. I would use a little less basil and oregano in the sauce. The sauce for the calzone should be a marinara or a tomato, but not salsa chunky.. smooth is the best. I would like to see this place do well, I would say aside from Dave Portnoy, I consider myself a Pizza Master, it is my favorite and most loved food. I tried Genaro's for the first time tonight and it did not disappoint! I ordered delivery through one of the apps. Two items I chose were not available and the restaurant actually called me and gave me recommendations for substitutes. Usually the restaurant just leaves out the items but not this one. They were so accommodating and pleasant. The customer service was outstanding! And, the pizza was delicious, too! I had a sundae for dessert that was one of the best I've had in a long time. We got take out pizzas from genaro's this week. The staff is friendly and the we didn't had to wait more than 15-20 minutes to get our order. There is a couple of tables inside and the environment is clean. The pizza were well sized and the crust and toppings were ok. Is it the best pizza ever ? Probably not, but the overall impression is good and the price is really good. We live not so far from short beach and we will definitely go back to Genaro's The idea of having this kind of restaurant in this neighborhood is really good and will be a real plus during the beach/summer season BTW There is an extensive menu of pasta and Italian food that we will have to experiment in the next weeks read more

This pizza is awful. I ordered a large pepperoni and it was cut into 8 slices. There were 2 pieces of pepperoni per slice. I ordered a small white with broccoli. They charged $2 for the addition of broccoli. There were tiny flakes of broccoli. Not to mention on a small pizza there was about 2 inches of crust and 3 inches of pizza per slice. We finally got to try pizza here last weekend and we were impressed overall. I had stopped earlier in the day to grab a menu as we were going to get takeout for dinner. The gentleman working seemed very nice and I told him we would be back. Hubby and I decided on two small pizzas (since we obviously don't like the same toppings) - he opted for sausage and spinach and I ordered chicken (with no red sauce). I requested chicken me grilled and not fried. They said about 20 minutes, we picked up the pizza, came home and dove in. My first critique is that my chicken was not grilled as I had requested. Not a HUGE deal but I would have preferred it. Besides that, we really enjoyed the pizza and a small was still plenty large for both of us with lots of leftovers. I am not much of a pizza fan so to me, it was delicious. He likes pizza a lot and he actually said this was in his top 5. Ordered a calzone and steak and cheese grinder. Picked up as we were on way to movies that I prepaid for got a call letting us know they gave wrong sandwich. So we turned around knowing we were gonna miss beginning of movie. I walked in and no apology or anything. Was told we will make your right sandwich now. Told the lady at counter not to bother. First no apology for mistake then you have to make the sandwich. My question is where is the sandwich I ordered if you need to make it? Now I work in the food service also. I make mistakes yes but I apologize for them and then comp what my customer ordered due to fact it was mistake. I also apologize for it. I felt really disrespected by the way this mistake was handled. I hope in future you apologize and try to fix your mistake as for myself I will not be going back. read more
