    Raspberry martini and old-fashioned
    Heather M.

I really wanted to like this place, but there were so many mixed reviews. I also love trying local places while visiting Galena. The atmosphere is historic and I agree the restaurant is quiet. The waiter Cam that was training was very nice. Logan was pleasant too. The raspberry martini and old fashioned was just OK. I've had better elsewhere. I kept seeing recommendations for the French onion soup and crab bisque. Both were good. I also kept seeing rave reviews about the scallops. I also found them to be just OK. They were missing a lemon butter sauce or something else else to it. This restaurant also charges a $10 split charge but you get two sides. The wilted spinach was good and the mashed potatoes were decent. The fingerling potatoes were ok. The mixed vegetables with zucchini squash, broccoli were good. The dessert cart looked fantastic, but we passed on that. Overall, for price point did not match the food. Unfortunately, I won't be back. There's just other places in Galena that offer a better value.

The atmosphere is historic; the place almost feels like you're back in time. We sat right by the Lady in Black window where it says an elusive lady in black appears and disappears. There were ghost tours going on, so that was really cool too. Attentive service. The bread was good; the ribs were tender - yet the steak was just average - overall a good place to go.

We loved this restaurant! They were all so kind and helpful and even gave us a complementary dessert for my father's birthday (delicious!). We all enjoyed our meals, but particularly the tortellini and the scallops were absolutely delicious! Plus they have such a range of sides. Other entrees we enjoyed include the stuffed porkchop and burger! Plus fun cocktails like their lady in black martini which is delicious and tied to their haunted history! Would return!

Listening to the piano player after ordering our meal. He's playing "Putting on the Ritz".

Just finished a wonderful meal, celebrating my wife's birthday. The piano man was playing "Anything Goes" and our meal plan was the same. Great service, our waitress took our order. I have to say we had the menu from the DeSoto house so we knew what we were going to order. My photos show our meals. Excellent job on the cooking staff, our meals were perfectly cooked. AND tasted spectacular. The venue, with a great pianist playing old favorites and show tunes, just was perfect. No rush, just quality attention from our waitress and servers. A great meal and time.

Nicely presented salmon tasty but not worth $30 when it is stuffed with only one scallop

My family and I are in Galena again and unlike the last two trips we were able to get in to the restaurant. The restaurant itself has old school charm due to the De Soto hotel that it is a part of. The hotel has amazing charm in this sleepy little ghost town however unfortunately that charm is not able to uplift the mediocre food and poor customer service that sometimes is received at this restaurant. The hostesses were amazing and got us seats right next to a ghost attraction in the restaurant. However unfortunately we had a waiter who clearly could not be happy with his job every time we would say thank you he just walked away and unfortunately I'm very old-school so for me that's a major turn off when I'm at a restaurant. By no means was I asking for them to suck up to us but it would be nice to have basic manners of saying you're welcome or two at a minimum fake it until you make it attitude. The salmon that I ordered was tasty but tasty food is only half of an experience when you're at a restaurant that is charging $30 for a piece of salmon. Understand that when you're coming here it is not a fine dining experience it is more of eating in a theatrical environment that is attempting to mix fine dining with old-school charm. If the prices were more reasonable I would try it again and hope that I don't get the same waiter but unfortunately due to the high cost of food for the low quality that you're getting it's not worth it to me. And a sidenote oddly there were a few gnats they were flying around our table which for me is also pretty gross.

Receipt included as a guide for pricing.

Where do I start? This place earned the 5 stars! Service was excellent and speed of delivery of each course was perfect. I enjoyed the Wisconsin Sweet Bing Old Fashioned drink which was delicious. I also had the Grant's salad and you must try the blue cheese soup! (Even if you don't like blue cheese) I ordered the strip steak with a side of king crab legs. The crab was wonderful, though pricey. The steak was cooked perfectly and was like butter! They also serve the General's bread with an herbed butter which is divine. This restaurant is a bit expensive but worth it! Logan was my waiter and what a nice young man!

I enjoyed my food , and my friends steak so much. I believe I had the ravioli carbonara.

I would recommend making reservations as it was consistently busy. We opted for seats at the bar to avoid an hour wait. This place is tiny, so it would not be ideal for large groups. It would be difficult to accommodate someone who could not navigate stairs (there are both stairs to enter as well as a staircase for most of the dining space). Servers were friendly and helpful, the right amount of attentive. The food came out quickly. They offer light lunch, brunch, breakfast fare, with specials, and baked goods from Lola. A popular special is a homemade pop tart, which has rotating flavors (today was blueberry with lemon frosting). We opted for French Toast, pork belly, and the country skillet. Everything was delicious and portions were generous. All around a great find.

We were not told too bad or wait an hour. We saw staff combining tables, moving chairs and ultimately seating us at an awesome huge high top table in the lobby. Then letting us order from all 3 menus! Bar, restaurant and pizza place. Wow wow wow Loved the pupu platter. Terrific Cobb salad. Pizza was overdone but understandable in light of what the kitchen must have been trying to keep up with. Shared the crazy cinnamon roll dessert thing oh my. The last time coming here we got seats at the bar and there wasn't any waiting. Has a lot of cool memorabilia to look at. There's a bunch of funny signs on the walls. It's about $7 for a basic cocktail. The Fuzzy Navel is one of the classics you can get. It's about $13 for a burger and fries. They have a veggie burger that can substitute. We each got one of these. I got it with the toppings of the Basic Burger. These come with the usual toppings like lettuce, mayonnaise which I left off, onions, pickles, and tomatoes. She got it with the toppings of the Olive Burger. These come with cheddar, lettuce, mayonnaise, olives, onions, Swiss, and tomatoes. For sure it gets busy. It's located on Main at Franklin. Family and I decided to check out galena for the first time and decided to check this place out since the galena brewing company was closed. From the get go, the lady taking our order was in a bit of a rush. My family was with me and we had a couple questions regarding the menu. I felt that our server's response was abrupt and felt like she was brushing us off to get to the next customer. The food was meh. I mean it wasn't terrible but it was pretty basic. The hubby got a cheeseburger, my daughter got the grilled cheese meal, and I got the buffalo wings. The menu said that celery and carrot sticks came with my order but I just got the wings. When I was able to finally flag down our server to inquire about my veggie sticks and dressing, she said "oh we're out of those" and was about to walk off until I quickly asked her what about the ranch? She then quickly pointed to the little square ranch container that was in the middle of the table. I mean maybe offer other things to accommodate for what's missing or at least tell me that off the bat would have been nice. We pretty much just ate our food and was ready to go right after. The name Paradise Bar & Grill is an oxymoron as we did not feel like we were in paradise.
