Two new technicians showed up to clean this year. They were not as professional as Jeff, and they were definitely not as punctual. I was quoted a price of $189 on the phone for a 10X20 room and stairs. To their credit, the men called to say that they were running late, and they wouldn't make it until the end of the 11am-1pm window I had been given. Unfortunately I had an appointment in Tacoma at noon and it was too late to reschedule. Fortunately I zipped back to the house and arrived shortly after the technicians. One walked the area and then quoted me $239 + extras which I declined. He said that the area was more like two 15X15 rooms plus a short hallway measuring about 6 feet, thus the price increase. And he said that I'd have to move the furniture, but later told me they moved it for me. There was a couch, a TV on a stand and an end table with a lamp. When they were finished I wrote a check and asked for a receipt. The technician told me the duplicate for my check was my receipt. And then he decided he could give me the paper with the work order on it. My husband called the company to voice his concern over the price discrepancy. He left a message and then the owner or manager called me back. I was told on the phone that the one who made the reservations should be the one at the house. I replied that I was. Since it became evident that I wasn't going to be permitted to state my case that I was quoted $189 and charged $239, I thanked him and ended the call. So although the service was completed, the price was not the same and the person on the phone did not seem to want to listen. read more

Unfortunately this gentleman did a terrible job on our couch. I don't recommend his services at all! He knew coming in that there was a large mark on a couch and he was not even close to getting it removed! Also asked us for towels to wipe up the water. He should bring his own! Carpets were nice and clean. Genesis did a good job with the general cleaning of my carpet, but I paid extra to have the areas where my dog lays cleaned, as you can see where he lays, I guess that's worn-in dirt. Those areas looked good when the carpet was still wet, but as soon as it dried they were back. So I would not pay any extra money for the extas, but I would have them clean my carpets again. They were easy to make an appointment with, friendly, on time, and pretty quick. read more

These guys were super shady. I only wanted to get a full-sized couch cleaned, no carpets. Hell, our apartment is all hardwood floors- we don't even HAVE carpets. So I call and nobody answers. So I start filling out the online appointment scheduler, when they call me back. But the connection is terrible (on THEIR end- I had full signal), so the guy just tells me to finish the online scheduling, and I'll be fine. Saturday rolls around, and my window is set for between 3 and 5 with someone named Jeff. I get a call around 3 from a guy with a different name saying he's coming from pretty far, he'll be about 45 minutes to an hour. I say that's fine. Then he asks me if I can pay him in cash, which I find not only unprofessional, but also a little creepy. I tell him I don't usually carry cash, but I might have 10 or 15 bucks. So he says "Ok, I'll take that and a check." oooooo-kaaaayyy..... 4pm hits. Then 4:15. Then I get another call saying they'll be there in 15 or 20 minutes. Finally, 4:45 rolls around, and I got better shit to do with my day than wait around the house for a company that has already given me a bad impression. So I call the office, and say forget it- this is not going to happen today....and then the doorbell rings. So I figure, FINE- if they're actually HERE, then let's get this nonsense over with so I can get on with my life and never have to deal with them again. Then the guy at my door shows me the invoice his boss printed up, and it lists like 2 carpet areas along with the couch, and bill of something like $200. I chose these guys in the first place because they had the best price listed on their website for a couch- $69. So I try to reason with the guy, and he is apparently completely incompetent. No seriously- we had one of those conversations where I could not possibly think of a clearer way to say my piece, and he's just not getting it, but I don't know what there is not to get! My husband witnessed the whole thing and also thought it was ridiculous. So I call the office, the guy's boss, and he gives me some garbage about how they don't leave the office for less than a hundred bucks- which NOBODY told me- and how the carpets would be taken off my bill. But then he talks to his employee, and my bill ends up at $100. I ask the guy at my door what the extra is all about, and he cannot give me a straight answer. Like he doesn't even know. So finally, I say fuck it. I have had ENOUGH and just want to have a clean couch and no more incompetent people in my house. So then the guy asks me where the sink is. I point him to the kitchen, and proceeds to make a few trips back and forth with his bucket to get hot water to fill his machine with. Did I mention his boots are tracking through my foyer and dining room along the way? Then he asks me if I have an old towel that can put on the ground to help with the mess. But I don't really keep old towels- I live in an apartment and I don't exactly have closet space to spare. So I give him a beach towel I don't use very often. Then he tells me that his boss's son is graduating today, so things are a little haywire. Also something I would have LOVED to have known when I scheduled, so I could have chosen another day...so they could show up with their regular truck, with their regular machine. The one that wouldn't have blown a fuse being plugged into my outlets. The one that would not have required multiple trips to the kitchen sink. Finally, the guy is finished, and he attempts to mop up the mess with my towel, and then hangs it on the rail on the front porch because it is soaked and disgusting. As is my front porch. I write him a check for $100 exactly, unaddressed as requested, and they leave. FINALLY this ordeal is over. My couch is (relatively) clean, which can't be said of my floor, but they are out of my house and I never have to deal with their company again. Until 20 minutes later, when the guy calls me again to say that FYI, the check-cashing place might be calling me to verify that the check is legit. Awesome. Bottom line, pick someone else. Regardless of their advertised pricing, you'll end up paying about the same either way, but with waaaay more professionalism and better customer service. read more

Stay away! My wife and I hired Genesis to do a comprehensive carpet cleaning after moving out of our rental house, and our property manager had to hire another contractor to clean up spots they missed. Instead of offering to come back and finish the job, Jeff Henehan (the worker) lied and told our property manager that the house had been full of furniture. That's an absolute fabrication. On top of that, at the end of the job when I told Jeff I wasn't happy that he was extremely late to the appointment, he got defensive and ended up yelling at me in my own kitchen. Just terrible. EDIT: After writing reviews on a few different sites, I've noticed that Genesis obviously writes fake reviews with 5 stars for themselves. Seriously, check out "Customer Lobby" (47 reviews) and "Home Advisor" (20 reviews). There are currently only 6 reviews for Genesis on Yelp, and I hadn't even heard of those other sites before today. read more

Well, maybe I should have read the reviews before hiring this company. Rather than one star, I'll give it two, since the carpets are actually cleaner than when the guy arrived. Yes, he arrives late, after calling to say he was near my house and on his way. Bottom line is, my carpets should not still be moist 36 hours after they are cleaned. Especially in this warm weather with the windows opened. So I wonder if the tech, who kept proclaiming during the work that he was exhausted from cleaning, really sucked up the dirt, since his machine certainly didn't suck up the rinse solution that is still in our carpets. BTW: This company should supply its own towels to wipe up all the water that gets dripped from the machine and onto the hardwood floor. read more

They came and clean the house carpets with 4 indoor dogs and did a fantastic job of getting up the stains and odors.

They cleaned our carpets on a large rental house last summer. The guy showed up with a one day notice on the last day of the month. i told him how good the house smelt when he was done and i wish i could get some of the deodorizing spray he used from somewhere because we have our GSD in the SUV often. He left me a full spray bottle of it. Very nice, friendly experience with the company. read more

I had Genesis come out and clean my carpets and air ducts last month and wow what a difference! The technician was very friendly & professional! AIRDUCTS- first of all I had no clue you could even do this but with the low price and the fact I have 3 large dogs & 4 cats not to mention my house was built in the 70's, needless to say I was sold and the end result was great, you could tell my air was cleaner and the anti bac spray stuff they put in the vents smelt great! CARPETS- With all my animals plus a 3 year old you can imagine the damage and I regularly clean the carpets with a Bissell to try and keep up but finally it was time for a pro. I did the pet pre treat & the scrub pre treat and the amount of hair balls that came up was astronomical ... after everything was said and done the tech showed me the disgusting he sucked up and I just could not believe it ... the end result was great, the cleaning left the carpets looking brand new, it removed all of the stains and it smelt great! I just got our rental done and I must say this company did an amazing job!!! I literally called at 2 pm for a same day service and at 4:00 pm they were at my door! Our carpet needed a lot of love and that's what it got! I'm not sure what the going rate is for a deep stain cleaning but sheesh it was worth every penny!!! read more

If I could give a zero star I would. I'm a former carpet cleaner myself and I can tell you that Jeff is not one of the good ones. Where do I start....he showed up almost a 1/2 hour late, kept calling me by the wrong name, and it goes down hill from there. Prior to steam cleaning a carpet, a good carpet cleaner will vacuum and pre-treat the traffic lanes (works the pre-treatment in with a nylon rake if he's really good) and spots. Jeff did none of these things. In fact, he only spent a total of 20 minutes cleaning my whole house (six areas)! I went to get some cash at the ATM and when I get back 20 minutes later, he's already pulling his hoses out of the house. I was perplexed. I asked if he was done and he assured me he did a good job. I was so angry that I could hardly speak. We had a name for those guys when I was in the business...."squirters". Take my advise, find someone else to do your carpets. Jim R. read more

Unbelievable! Impressive and Amazing! That is what Genesis Carpet and Upholstery care is! I can not believe how much cat hair they got out of one 11x7 . (3 + cups of wet compacted hair (can you imagine how much this would be if it were dry? It was like my rug was a yard that had been thatched and the thatch was all the cat hair. ! and I have a Dyson. Giving one star so the review shows up. Would give minus stars if we could. Tech was supposed to be at our home around 2:30 pm. When he FINALLY arrives, it's 4:30, and he appears high as a kite or drunk. Eyes glazed over, slurring his speech. We were quoted on the phone $100, and the shady tech says it'll be $200. We ask him to leave, we don't need this from somebody 2 hours late. He mumbles something along the lines of 'can you tell my boss you had a buddy do it so I don't get in trouble?' Um, no.
