Me and a friend came by for a quick bite to eat. We were on a soccer trip and our coach told us to be quick, so we tried to find a nice spot to sit and be quick. We tried a couple spots and too many of them were going to take too long to sit so we ended up at Genshis Grill. Nice spot from the outside and overall fun and vibrant on the inside. We sat down in a timely matter due to the fact that it wasn't very busy at the time. Not too long later our server came by (Abby). She was very nice and attentive the whole time we were there. I got some sort of spicy bowl, and I can't exactly remember the name but it was great. Overall not to spicy but just the right amount and it came out at a good temperature aswell. A really good change for lunch - better than just a sandwich or burger by a long shot! Located in the back end of the Highlands mall, it is a place you have to be intending to go to, there isn't much "drive by" traffic, but is well worth finding. The "buffet" is set up to allow you to fill a bowl (sm, med, lg) with your choice of proteins (beef, pork, chicken, sea food, and I was surprised - BACON!. Then you select spices, oils, everyi thing from ginger to sesame, to Texas BBQ and Lemon Pepper ... as well as other seasonings, then pile on your choice of vegetables ... including expected Asian ingredients like water chestnut, baby carrots, and bean sprouts, but also spinach, cilantro, peppers, carrots, green onions, etc. When you give the chef your bowl, you select what kind of starch (several types of rice or noodles) and also several toppings for texture. If you aren't confident in your ability to create a tasty dish on your own, they have a lot of "recipe cards" that tell you what to select for a specific taste sensation, which you can follow exactly or use as a base guide as you personalize your meal. I decided to be adventurous, and selected seafood (salmon, shrimp and krab) accented with a little bit of bacon ... I chose ginger and garlic as my main seasonings (I am a notorious spice wimp!) and then added pineapple, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, sprouts, onions, and a few other vegetables. Everything on the bar was fresh, and plentiful. Nothing was piled up so high that you wondered how long it had been sitting there! It really was very inviting. I handed the chef my bowl and in just a few minutes was enjoying a very tasty bowl of stir fry! The wait staff were all polite and cheerful, eager to answer questions, and more than willing to help me navigate with my chair. Only "down side" is that the aisles are just a little too close together for comfort in a wheelchair, if there are other patrons sitting in that section. I was originally offered a table in an area that was clearly not being used - which is a common response when I show up in a wheelchair. As usual, I declined. I don't like to be "tucked away" in a corner, even though I recognize it is meant to be helpful. Still, if I had come during a time when they had a lot of customers, I would not have been able to move around to get my meal or go to the restroom without inconveniencing a lot of people. The restroom is "mostly" handicap accessible. They are located off a narrow hall that is used by the kitchen staff, and there is not a lot of lee way for maneuvering a mobility device. Additionally the ladies room door is heavy, and I struggled to open it. Once inside, it was laid out "ok" and the handicap stall is a good size, however the sink area is a little tight and getting out of the restroom is awkward - again because of the heavy door and the tight angle. Those are logistical errors in the building design, so I can't blame the restaurant for those issues. While the restaurant was not crowded (around 1:00, so just after the traditional lunch hour) there were other patrons, from professionals getting lunch to a couple of small groups of friends hanging out together. Overall, I enjoyed the experience. The medium bowl, plus a drink and additional items was very reasonably priced. The restaurant is clean, well stocked, and the staff were polite and helpful. We usually pick out a place to eat after church, today it was genghis grill. Our first time eating here and we were kind of nervous. The person behind the food was named Alejandra I believe or Alex. She was amazing. Not only did she make our experience worth it but she also helped us in every way possible. Our food choices and seasonings along with toppings were to die for. Horrid service, gross food. When we walked in at 1:30 they were less than half full. The waitress ignored and walked by us a half dozen times before coming up and asking us how she could help, in a way as if we were inconveniencing her. She looked at another waitress who looked back at her as she was cleaning a table and said "it's your turn". Our waitress looked at us and said they were out of room. We decided to come on a Saturday night and of course it was busy, but not only did we wait over 20 minutes for even a waitress to come get our drinks but once our food was ready no one brought it to us. He flicked his long hair before taking our order, he seemed almost bothered to have to actually be working. We went to serve ourselves, when we got back, drinks still weren't ready, The place was pretty empty and we were his only table, no excuse for not having 2 drinks brought to table after 5 minutes. I give two stars for good food and a nice waitress. After my fiancé and I sat down we were just talking and laughing with each other. My fiancé looked at me and told me the manager was staring at us. She then came over and asked us if we were waiting on something. I replied with yes our food. Every time her and I made eye contact she gave me a dirty look. I love Genghis Grill! But sometimes it's a hit-or-miss. Usually the times we walk in when it's empty, it's takes a little longer to get our food and when it's busy, we get fast service. The last few times the waiters did take a while to get to us but nothing too crazy. The meat sometimes has a few tongs which I'm sure people use for other meats too so that concerns me. But my food is always tasty and well cooked. The regular bowl is small. Once I get to the end, I have a mountain of veggies falling over. The drinks are just soooo sweet! Like ridiculously sweet. I placed a delivery order from Genghis Grill on May 3 around 2 pm. It arrived sooner than expected but with different food than expected. I contacted the store and spoke to a server who kept putting me on hold, I'm assuming to check with the manager, and offered me a couple of options 1) a credit for a medium bowl in my rewards or 2) Do a re-order of the bowl and come pick it up. I replied that there was $10 in delivery related charges and I would prefer to pick up the food because I was hungry, but only as long as all the $10 in delivery related fees were refunded. She put me on hold and came back and said that she would send an email to corporate with details so the fees could be refunded to my card. I shuffled my schedule around to account for having to pick up the food, get back home and eat it. We gave you guys another chance.....and you blew it again. We showed up at 1130am and you appeared to be fully staffed. I was seated and waiting almost 10 minutes while I watched the waitress talk to the bar keep and host before coming to our table. Then we watch another group walk in, get waited on immediately and jumped ahead of us in line. We waiting another 6 or 7 minutes for anyone to show up to get the line started. We left at this point. Let me just say the host acted like he didn't care from the very beginning. Even when we left nothing was said as we walked out. Judging from the past reviews, management clearly doesn't read Yelp or simply doesn't care. This place is an absolute nightmare waiting to happen. The system is not setup for success, and it wasn't even busy when we went in. Tongs are cross contaminated with all kinds of raw meats, handles messy from laying on the wet meats. You choose any veggies, meat, seafood, seasonings, sauce and choose your starch (rice, noodles or fried rice - my fav) and watch as the chefs grill it all. Tried this place for the first time and yes, it was very overwhelming. The girl that took us to our seat gave each of us a small-ish silver bowl. The guy that waited on us was pretty friendly. He explained the process, took our drink orders and left us. There was some confusion about the function of the silver bowl but after he came back with our drinks, we got our answer (it's for the ingredients!). We went through all the stations, piled on ingredients we wanted in our bowls, and waited for our food to cook. The wait wasn't long and our food was brought to use when it was ready. My bowl was delicious! I love how we can customize our own meal. We decided to give it another try right then and there. My husband and I tried Genghis Grill this past Sunday after finding that Sweet Tomatoes was packed to the gills with church goers and large groups. My husband has been dying to find a good Mongolian bbq and we found it. The prices aren't too bad, you can get udon noodles, white rice, brown rice, fried rice or spiral pasta with your bowl of goodies. I was amazed how good of a server we had, I guess we were kinda odd because everyone was inside and it was quite nice so we sat outside. They have a little outdoor seating area with a few umbrellas. We visited this place looking for good Mongolian grill but were left disappointed. As we walk up to pick out our food, we noticed that the floor near the food area was super sticky. The floor was not sticky anywhere else in the restaurant - just around the food serving line. I had to consciously lift my shoes up off the floor step by step as I was walking the line to pick my food. Perhaps they wanted us to "work out" before we sat down and ate the food so that we would be hungrier and the food would taste better(?) I don't know, but it was kinda gross and we lost some of our appetite. The Regular Bowl seems rather small to be regular. That is where the art of piling on the food comes in. Start the bottom of the bowl with meats as your base, then add the veggies on top. If you want to get almost every food choice offered in your bowl, you can only get a small portion/sampling of each. At the end of the line, you will have all your food piled up like a mountain. There is a small bowl for sauces, and there are a lot to choose from. If you grab a lot of 1 food choice, that will be the main, if not only, thing that you will eat in your bowl. Your eyes will always be bigger than your stomach when going to a place like this. All the meats and veggie containers looked clean, and there didn't seem to be any cross-contamination, as others have noted. But this may be because we went to this place for an early lunch on a Sat. $8.99 for a Regular Bowl seems a bit high for the quality and portion size. Utensils (forks) could use a bit more cleaning in the dishwasher. Service was ok up until we tried to get our server's attention for the bill. That was a task in itself. Our server was quite busy, so we finally got another server's attention who took our bill and payment, and she just took it and put it on the bar counter until our server got around to the bar to pick it up. Didn't really make any sense. I would recommend the all-you-can-eat Chan's Mongolian Grill in North Richland Hills over this place anytime. IT IS TIME FOR INTERVENTION. Bf and I were seated at 6pm. Finished making our bowls (added them to the alarmingly long line), and sat back down by 6:16. My bowl didn't arrive till 6:45pm, at which point I curtly asked the waitress for it to be boxed because I had a flight to catch. My boyfriend's (whose order was placed just after mine, mind you) didn't come till almost 7... In between the arrival of my order and his, however, the table next to ours (all THREE of their bowls) mysteriously received their meals despite having placed their orders significantly after us. I had to remind the server about his food before we received it. In between all this, our server ( a guy, different from the waitress I spoke to about the box) was checking in on us pretty regularly and apologizing and thanking us for our patience... So, cool. But he did say that he was going to try and help out with the grill because he was more experienced than whoever was grilling that day... and the meals still came out 1) super late, 2) almost forgotten (bf's?) Had a great time at this place! We have been looking for a place like this since we moved to TX in 2010 from Chicago. Our last dinner there was at a place (Flat Top Grill) similar to this one. It was our first experience in a place like that and we were blown away. We enjoyed ourself once again. Even though it was Friday night in The Highlands, this place was only half full, and we were able to go right to our table. The staff was very friendly and enthusiastic (which was needed as we tried to navigate and understand what to do). I really like the concept and I generally like the food. This is a build-your-own style arrangement. You select from a large array of meats, vegetables, sauces, flavorings, noddles and toppings. This I enjoy, although I have concocted dishes that I did not like. I figure that's my own fault, since I built it. What I do not like are several other things, the two main items being: Seating - There are only very high tables, like you would find in a bar. I am not a tall person, so hauling myself up into the stools is not pretty or graceful or comfortable. OR, there are banks of seating, one side a room-long bench seat while the other side of the table is a cafe chair. Those are comfortable enough, but so close together that there is not a shred privacy - we might as well all be sitting at a community table. Service - It is variable at best. The servers seem interested in chatting with each other. I saw no indication that they had any interest in actually serving the customers. Acquiring refills, napkins, utensils, etc. required a lot of effort. I don't mind waiting on myself, but why should I have to do that if there are people paid to do so? The poor service has been consistent enough that after about 6 visits, we became weary of putting up with inadequate, shoddy treatment and decided that there are far too many other places available that seem to want our business to bother to return to a place that gives no sign that it does want or need the business. We will leave the servers in peace to chat amongst themselves. read more

Is it me or have the stainless steel bowls gotten smaller? You will have to make sure you strategically place your meats and veggies in the bowl to get everything to the grill line. We visited this Genghis location on Friday to commence my birthday weekend. I was super excited to use my coupon for my free birthday bowl. Our server was very nice and gave us a refresher on how to go through the line. We eagerly piled ingredients into our bowls and then shimmied over to the grill line. There weren't a ton of bowls in front of us, but imagine our frustration when we waited over a half hour for our bowls of food. Our table, the table next to us, the table behind us, and I'm sure plenty of other tables were wondering what on earth had happened to their food. One of our crew is a vegetarian, and she debated getting another bowl. She finally went for it and the second wait was excruciating. She said that after making her bowl she set it down next to the grill and realized there were about ten or so other bowls in front of hers. I'm not even sure what the deal was. There were three "grillers' or "stir-fryers", if you will, back there. We'd arrived at 7 and left after 9. We couldn't believe it. I don't think I've ever waited that long for food at Genghis.
