    A5 Wagyu w. Toro & Foie Gras

The food is amazing. This place is a must visit every time I'm in New York. The chefs are artists and the experience is a testament to them. The staff is friendly and fast, and every piece is amazing.

I love trying new omakase places whenever I'm in nyc and this one has become one of my favorites!! You should definitely make a reservation because they do get filled and harder to get seats if you walk in with a bigger group. They offer a 15 course for $89 which is such a good deal for what you get! Every piece was flavorful and all of the fish melts in your mouth! All of the course were so good it's hard to pick a favorite! The staff were great! The waiter always checked if you needed more water/tea and cleared the plates efficiently. I will definitely be coming back here next time!

Came here for Omakase and it was superb. Came here for the 17 pcs for $98. There were couple of ones that i loved: Oyster, red snapper, king salmon, lean tuna, sea urchin, fatty tuna, and the A5 wagyu w. toro & foie gras. The ambiance was great. lighting was perfect, noise was not loud we were able to have a conversation and share our experiences. Anyways, I'd say Genki Omakase experience is definitely worth it: the experience, the enjoyment, the food tasting, the food flavour, the quietness and exclusiveness of the place, and many more... Will definitely come back again in the future : )

We got the 15 course ? party of 4 ! I WANT TO GATEKEEP SO BAD but they deserve more hype! definitely affordable and for delicious sushi!!! We had made a reservation of 4 on a weekday for the evening. No other customers in the place :) Staff are so friendly! Our sushi chef Kevin I believe made our experience amazing thank you!! will definitely reserve again if near the area

I really wanted to love this omakase spot but it just didn't hit the spot. The workers and chef receives five stars for their friendly service...no complaints there. There were some dishes I just did not enjoy and it wasn't just me who felt that way. I'm not sure if it's because we had an amazing meal the night before at Sushi Blossoms? However, I really did enjoy the last course with the banana. It was different and had my taste buds doing back flips. Also, $85 for 15 course wasn't bad either.

Met up with friends here for lunch on a Sunday for the 15 piece omakase, which costs $89. I enjoyed most of the courses as there was a good variety and interesting flavors. The seafood tasted fresh and high quality. The O'Toro with Caviar was the most memorable because of the spritz of edible glitter. I also really liked the mochi ice cream dessert.

Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Vibe 4/5 If you're looking for an affordable OMAKASE experience in NYC near NYU and SoHo/Noho, this maybe the spot for you. It's definitely shorter than other omakase experience, so if you're looking for that experience, look away. I would say the whole experience is roughly 1 hour which is perfect for a tourist like me with a packed agenda every-time I travel to NYC. I personally thought everything was deliciously made, and since it's not the traditional type of omakase, they do accommodate your dietary restrictions. I don't eat shell fish, so it's definitely a tricky one for omakases, but they were able to give me different cuts of fish (which I really appreciate) Overall I highly recommend this place, and if u have the time next time, I would def come back.

It was about time I tried genki omakase! I am happy to say this place is on my top three contenders for omakase around the city! We arrived for lunch and it wasnt too busy, it was just me and my party dining in so it was quite enjoyable and relaxing. Each piece was curated so perfectly, there were no bad pieces. I even enjoyed the hotate, something I am normally not a fan of. Highlight pieces for me was the black cod, uni (look at the massive piece you get!), otoro. What was really surprising to me was the dessert. I thought we skipped a course straight onto dessert however to my surprise it was unagi with banana! Thinking about this combo made me quite questionable however the sweet, salty and smokiness of the uni went really well with the banana! The chef was personable and I enjoyed our experience here! Highly recc this place to try out!

So omakase could range from $100 to $800. Here's 15 pc $89. Good price to start the omasake tasting journey in nyc. Review on the sushi: Kaki oyster - it's ok, it's better without the soysauce Kanpachi - ok kinda bland , fish is crunchy good texture Ginadara - surprisingly excellent, melt into the mouth Sea bream & striped jack ok, white fish very light taste. (The rice temperature too hot. Chef had threw away rice on his bowl because it got cold so he got new one from rice cooker .... He didn't wait long enough so it's too hot for the sushi) The rice itself could have more flavor. Butter fish - chili on sushi something new, like.."oh" ..... Not spicy but wont be my favorite. Salmon is good Lean tuna - personally not a fan, still good Prawn - i gave my feedback, the soysauce is the problem, too salty and it's better not to put any soysauce, cannot taste the sweetness of the prawn , sad because that supposed to be my favorite. Sea scallop - fresh, good texture but don't like it being cut and topped soysauce (not as sweet as the one come from Japan) Sea urchin - fresh and thanks Jay doubling up the urchin for us. Otoro caviar -otoro itself great, caviar mild , overall i like it , again rice need more flavor A5 wagyu w. Toro and foie gras - instead of shoveling whole piece into the mouth, i tasted foie gras first , it's milky, not strong like those i had in Quebec. Then i ate the whole thing with the toast at the bottom, it was not disappointing I'm glad. Mochi - is just mochi nothing special (Most fish being cut horizontally & vertically 3 to 4 times, the top with soysauce, maybe need more creativity) Overall experience : :: It's our last minute reservation. Great price (remember you eat what you paid for. I'm surprised with the price they included otoro foie gras carviar) we came early and the server brought us water while waiting, kind gesture. (Hot tea is charged separately) Good old 80s romance music , the sushi came fast but we took our time to eat it. Server is attentive. Jay is very friendly(Owner) Sushi will be 3/5. Overall experience ie 4/5. Would return in the future.

Ambiance - super clean, great for dates and celebrations Service - went on a Friday for lunch and had the place all to ourselves, staff was super nice, chef took his time preparing all our pieces Food - all the pieces were super fresh, super generous with their portions, the scallop and uni is to die forrrrrr Can't wait to be back again!

My co-workers and I had a 15 piece omakase dining experience for dinner. It was clean and there were plenty of seats and space in the waiting area. There is a coat rack. Of course we all had our favorites. I thought their unagi eel was unique because it was sweet. It was fused with a banana. I would say a nice dessert at the end. I enjoyed tuna, salmon, uni, toro, scallop, oyster and sea bream. As you can tell I enjoyed many of the sushi pieces here.

First omakase I ever had and it was amazing. The best sushi I ever had hands down. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The service was excellent and we felt really catered to during the experience. The price point is also great and you leave feeling full but not sick (which is the perfect spot to be in). Can't wait to go back!

I went with a Japanese friend, and even my friend said it was delicious. Well, the price is such that it really has to be good. Reservations are a must, and it seems to be reservation-only. Maybe because of that, there were no other customers besides us, so it felt very private. The sushi was truly amazing, and I definitely want to go again. The staff were also very friendly, which was a plus.

Is there anything I can order for kids, 9 years older?

I don't understand the question. Do they not eat fish? If they don't. I would say that they don't

Has anyone who has done omakase here know if there were any nuts in the dishes? Of course, menu/style could change based on chef when we go. Just curious for a potential guest who has nut allergies

You can let them know that you have a nut allergy and they'll accommodate if there's dishes with nuts.

Can you order off the menu or does the Chef determine what is served to every guest daily? Thank you!

They have a limited menu that you can order off of, most of the items are from their predetermined menu (which is very worth it)

How much is the corkage fee for BYOB?

We do free BYOY so far.

Is there corkage fee for BYOB?

    Yes

    How long is each seating?

    60min for each seating

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.
