It is highly recommended that you get a reservation. Once you're seated, you are treated to 13 course meal, which gives you a taste of their menu selection. Once you're done with that meal, you are free to order additional items as you please. The service was amazing, fast, and fairly clean. I absolutely loved the sushi here, which makes me wonder how a restaurant can source the same fish as other sushi, restaurants, but still taste amazing. For $58, this is amazing. I cannot find anything better than this price quality ratio. Highly recommend recommended

I was in town for a quick weekend trip and had seen Tsumo on TikTok, so wanted to give it a try. At $58 for a 13 course omakase, you really can't beat this deal! Every piece of sashimi was so incredibly fresh and melt in your mouth. Even with some fish I typically don't like (I'm looking at you, shrimp), Tsumo just knocked it out of the park. This is a very great date spot, especially if you want to just sit and enjoy yourself for 90 minutes.

If you're looking for a solid omakase dinner with a great price, I'd recommend this place. Everything served was really fresh. My top pieces had to be the hamachi, chu toro, and o toro. We tried the Nihon Sakari Yuzu sake and it paired well with the sushi. A big plus is that the restaurant is spacious so you can enjoy your meal with others without feeling cramped.

The food here was amazing I felt the sushi offered was delicious and high quality. I loved the truffle piece. The restaurant is cute and fitting feels hidden in a cool way. I will say it does feel rushed I think a little more enthusiasm or explanation of the pieces would have been nice. You get what you pay for though and if you just care about the sushi and not the whole experience it is definitely worth it.

Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 4/5 This was my first omakase experience and it was unbelievable. Our chef, Jeremy, was a pure-hearted and focused chef that entertained all of our questions as he crafted each course. All 13 courses were great, with the o toro and ebi being my personal favorites. The service was also attentive, as my water was filled up consistently. A lot of other reviews mention how the pacing was fast, but we had ample time to chat with our chef and eat. However, the room had 20+ people which was a little loud for my liking. I recommend getting a table at tsumo if you want to try omakase without burning down the bank.

Nice spot for a quick and affordable omakase. Still left feeling a wee bit hungry but it was satisfying for sure! We came 15 min before opening and people were already allowed inside waiting, which was nice because I needed to use the restroom. Seating is only for an hour, reservations recommended. We booked the day of but it was completely full during our seating. It's a pretty efficient operation, the chef to customer ratio felt like it was around 1:5. They kept our water glasses full. There are 2 restrooms in the back. You get 13 pieces and the menu changes slightly from time to time. At the end, you can reorder any additional pieces or order items that were not on the omakase menu (à la carte is a bit expensive). Our chef was very friendly and explained each piece, and asked us for our thoughts every now and then. One thing I did not love is the smell of gas / smoke from the blow torch, which was used for quite a few dishes.

I chose this spot because it seems to offer fresh omakase at a decent price. The fish was all so fresh, I loved all the little details added to each piece. My favorite pieces were the O Toro (I got another piece at the end), Sake - salmon with added fried leeks, and the Toro handroll. My husband got the fancy wagyu hotate truffle a la carte which he said was smokey and the scallop was a nice balance to the wagyu. It was a faster omakase than the others, 1 hour but it didn't seem super rushed, just very efficient. Definitely recommend making a reservation! This was the Lunch Omakase $48/pp during November: 11 courses - Madai, Hamachi, Ebi, Ikura, Hotate, Kanpachi, Zuke Akami, O toro, Sake, Unagi, Toro handroll, A la carte $20 Wagyu hotate truffle The interior was cozy and they lit an incense.

Make a reservation. They only allow about 15 people per seating . It is a wonderful sampling I personally like my fish to be on the colder side. I found this fish to be lukewarm. The flavors were very nice. They're simple yet complex. Very nice selection of Sakes No gimmick just delicious fish Usually takes about 50 to 60 minutes to finish .

Tsumo Omakase has jumped up to one of the best omakases I've had in Manhattan. Made a reservation the night before. I loved that Tsumo fits so many people into their space but it doesn't feel cramped or loud at all! $58 for 13 courses. Of the 13 courses we received, I thought 6 were some of the best bites I've ever tried (toro, wagyu, kanpachi). Very buttery, well-balanced, unique flavors. The other 7 were pretty good and still enjoyable. I think the price for this quality and quantity of courses is totally worth it. :) We also ordered their Yuzu Cocktail [5/5] and the matcha beer [5/5] which were great additions to our meal and well-priced. Service was okay-- wasn't the friendliest I've experienced at omakase but they did feel professional.

Great omakase spot for a good price point, especially during lunch time! 13 courses for $58. Not my favorite omakase spot in the city, but definitely a good choice for saving the wallet! Plus the quality of fish is good! My personal favorites were the salmon belly and toro.

Great experience and great value! Made a reservation about 2 weeks prior. Got here 10 minutes before the reservation time. They sat everyone down at their seat. First time having omakase! 13 courses for $58 is such a great deal. It was delicious and the quality was great. I think my favorite were the salmon belly, botan ebi, and scallop!

Such a good deal for omakase ($48 pp for an 11-course lunch)! My partner and I made a lunch reservation about 3 weeks in advance after receiving a recommendation from a friend. It appears that there are around 18 slots available for lunch, as each of the 3 chefs took care of 6 guests. Our chef was very kind & made personalized adjustments after some guests noted that they preferred less wasabi. This was my first time experiencing such specialized bites, with toppings such as caviar and salmon roe. I did find the rice to be on the wetter side (not sure if that's how traditional omakase is), but that would be my main feedback. On top of the food being delicious, the background music was lofi renditions of pop songs. I tried using Shazam, but it was sadly unable to pick up on the titles of the songs. Overall, I would highly recommend Tsumo for a relaxing ambiance to enjoy a reasonably priced omakase experience. I will definitely be recommending this spot to friends!

10/10 AMAZING omakase. Very affordable and tasty. $58 per person which is a steal for 13 pieces. The fish was all very fresh and the ambiance was unbeatable. I wasn't able to get photos of everything, but trust me, everything tasted as good as it looked. The combinations of flavors and textures were impeccable. I loved it so much here and I plan on going again when I visit NYC again. The best bites for me were the O toro, Madai, and Unagi. Amazing! They also give you the cutest little postcards at the end. Make your reservation ASAP and stop by!

To drink, I had a Hot Organic Super Matcha Tea for 4.95. It was alright tea, and I wish teas were included in the price point, as otherwise, this place feels pretty traditional. In terms of food, I only ordered from the seasonal menu, so I'm not sure how the rest of the dishes are, but from what I had, I would go back for a light traditional meal. My appetizer was the Dashimaki Tamago/だし巻まき卵たま, or sweet savory omelet with daikon for $6.98. This came with three pieces along with a little dollop of grated radish. The pieces had a light sweetness to them along with a bit of savoriness. They were juicy and a bit bouncy while maintaining some softness. This was standard and good. My main dish was the $19.98 Beef Tan Tan Udon, or ground sirloin beef, spicy broth, baby bok choy, kikurage mushroom, scallions, and sesame seeds. While I have preferred udon from spots like Raku, the udon had a mild chew to it, and they were still good. The broth had a mix of sweetness and spiciness with a nice depth of flavor. The vegetables inside tasted fresh, and the meat added some richness. This was good as well. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to go here, but the food was good. If you're in the area and looking for no frills Japanese dining in a more comfortable atmosphere at pretty decent Midtown East prices, I would recommend this place.

They have a good happy hour with both drink and food options. We both ordered margaritas, which needed a slight adjustment as they were made too sour, and I also tried some sake, which was a good selection. For food, I ordered the fried chicken, which was very good, crispy, flavorful, and a generous portion, served with tartar sauce ($20). We also shared edamame and a couple of yakitori skewers: the shiitake mushrooms ($6) and pork belly ($8). The mushrooms were quite bland and I did not finish them, but the pork belly looked great and my friend enjoyed it. I'd have to say...the tonkatsu was quite good....not quite as sublime as my favorite tonkatsu place in Tokyo...but still, very, very good.
