This location has free parking, but it gets difficult to find because of the shared parking lot with other businesses. Inside, its smaller than the newer locations Its casual and family friendly. Our favorites are the usuals: Spicy tuna, seared salmon, tempura, spicy bomb, chicken karaoke and the rice bowls. This location, in particular, has service faster, because they have a robot assisting service! If you are ever here, and haven't seen a robot server, come and check it out. We got our items quick and were able to leave in less than an hour! Overall, this is a family friendly place for those lazy week nights, when you dont feel like cooking. read more

The wait was super fast--we checked in via QR code at 6:31pm and got a "table ready" text just two minutes later at 6:33pm. We were quickly seated and started ordering through the Toast system. Ordering was a little confusing at first since we were ordering as a group but also placing individual orders. We didn't realize that if someone submits their order while others still have items in their cart, it can send everything through and clear the remaining items. My husband ended up resubmitting his order thinking it didn't go through, which resulted in a couple duplicate items. Thankfully, our server was very kind, patient, and helpful. She fixed the duplicates and missing items without any issues, and I really appreciated her help. It sounds like this is a common issue with the system, so hopefully there are some software improvements coming. Overall, the food was good and the service was great despite the tech hiccup. Biggest disappointment. Loved coming here with my kids in the past ( in Kapolei). Joined the wait list through the QR code outside, and got only one update about our wait status (31 minutes later)...as well as watched people leave, so we walked in and there were several empty tables. Hostess said they were dirty and we waited another at least another 5 minutes for them to clean a table. Waited at least another 5 minutes or so to order; expected a server to take it or at least direct us to use the QR code on the table,, but no one even came by. NO customer service the entire time, no checking if we needed anything except when we first sat down and asked us for our drink order before looking at the printed menus on the table ( another reason we were confused regarding ordering / QR code usage). Our food was just ok; nothing special and obviously premade as the sushi came out rather quickly. The only good thing was the robot bringing out two plates, but even that required staff to reset, so not sure why they're even needed. Then to pay the bill/- tried to do that on my phone too, but it said to see my server, and that was another 5 minutes or so wait to get any one of them to our table. Not sure if service would have been better if I was not a haoli here... Just saw my wait list status has me as a no show-- even though we face them our name/ waitlist info when we entered the place ( not calling it a restart this point). Bottom line/- run from this place and save your money-// or better yet, buy the poke at Foodland in the same shopping center ( like we did)-- but eat it at the beach or a park instead. read more

Very pleased with this stop! We stopped here for lunch after the beach. It was busy but no wait at all. They had us order and pay our tab off a QR code and then our food was brought out by a moving robot. They had a nice mix of music playing and the employees were nice. The food quality was 10/10. Though they don't have the conveyor belt sushi anymore since they have renovated, they now have a robot that brings your food to the table. It's cool and we didn't have any issues nor missing orders. The staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming and we got seated pretty fast on a Sunday (dinner time) and after scanning their QR code on their frontdoor. The food was okay, nothing really stood out. I can't remember all the dishes we ordered, and I forgot to take pictures of all of them, but definitely order the Maui Strong Bowl. It's a mini rice bowl with garlic salmon and spicy tuna, and it's part of their Maui Strong Special Menu which is one thing that I really appreciate about Genki Sushi. From their poster, they've donated $85,000 to the Hawaii Community Foundation from August 2023 to July 2024 to support Maui's recovery. Been in Mainland for 12 years, visiting and Genki in Ewa was our spot ad it was right near the house. Ewa Beach is completely different and our Genki Sushi was nothing like the original back in the day. No conveyor belt which was a highlight of visits in the past, replaced with robots which I found cool- but still miss the endless conveyor belt of sushi selections going around & around. Still use the colored plate pricing. Menu is easy to read, and has so much to pick from. The Garlic Chicken was still delicious, which was a favorite. Overall the rest of our selections were okay. Not as good as my memory recalls, but okay. The Staff is what made our walk down memory lane amazing, everyone was friendly & attentive. The young lady who took care of us was patient, actually took our order without the QR Code hassle which for us older folks can be confusing - LOL She saw that I was fascinated by the robots so she had some of our food delivered by them which was awesome. To rate Genki fairly, I'd just like to preface this 4 star rating with a reminder that this is NOT a real sushi bar, nor do they have sushi chefs preparing your dishes. Genki is more of a fast food type of eatery, that will come in clutch for those days you just want to have a "cheaper" meal with variety. My wife and I frequently Genki a few times a year because they are close to home and they really do hit the spot with the many options on their menu. Our go-to items are pretty much the same as what we get in other sushi bars, with a mixture of freshly prepared nigiri and some dishes from the kitchen. Service here can be hit or miss, but thankfully, this location has implemented the QR code ordering (last year or so), unlike before when they were still a location that ran the traditional table service. This Ewa Beach location can get busy at times, and I usually see the servers doing their very best to accommodate all diners and the load of take out. With the new renovations, more families can be seated at a time, so I'm really glad they decided to make that change! From what I recall last night, the restaurant was packed with 4-top tables; it was bright and quite crowded. Definitely back to life after the shut down of their conveyor belt taking up so much space in the tiny restaurant. If you go to Genki, please don't expect a 5 star authentic sushi experience. Just go for a casual meal of yummy food, and (I believe) you'll leave satisfied. Oh ya and don't get freaked out by the new non-human staff LOL! They got these (malfunctioning) robots now.. kinda funny cuz we witnessed these bots delivering food to wrong tables. I think they need to be retrained! First time here since newly renovated! We came perfect timing, empty, & apparently we brought the crowd because soon after we started eating it started to pick up with customers! First of all, if you're a sushi snob, I'm not sure why you'd be entertaining the thought of dining at Genki. Not trying to knock the food there, but I'm just saying. You won't find award winning omakase here, let's start with that. Especially if you're in Ewa. But now that we've cleared the air, let's get into it. The Ewa Genki has an interesting layout. It was built to feature the belt of rotating dishes, but nowadays it isn't in use, so... now it's just not very space efficient. The servers there are, for the most part, a revolving door of younger high school/college students so although you get the enthusiasm, they're still learning the ropes. But you can take the good with the bad on that because for the most part, we've all been there. When it comes to the food, I have to admit, it's always made well and they feature some good one off dishes. My favorite is the kanikama tempura. I always order it with the sauce on the side because sometimes it over powers the taste of the sushi, but as a condiment/side dipper: Quite good. The agadashi tofu, Teri chicken bowl, tamago sushi and karaage chicken are among other family favorites but by all means, if something appeals to you, I implore you to try it. So do I recommend Genki Sushi? Yes, but do know that some plates have more value than others. So as long as you can find the value you're looking for, you'll enjoy yourself as well. Service was at a minimal and poor. Had to get up to ask for refill of tea. Didn't even offer ginger or wasabi. They sit you down give you utensils and water and thats it. They deliver sushi to your table or rely on robot that didn't even move for awhile lol. Food is really good, fresh, nice cut of fish. Newly renovated. No more conveyor belts. New is the Keenon robot that delivers your food to your table. First, you get on waiting list to get seated with a QR code. Then you order food using another QR code. Drinks ordered/delivered from human server. They're still working out the bugs with the new system. The robot delivered someone else's order to our table. Some people in our party requested to order from the human server to make ordering simpler and easier. Menu appears to be pretty much the same as before but with the addition of some bento options. Robot needs some AI to develop aloha spirit. Bottom Line: Can't replace human touch with Apps and Bots. read more

Came here after church yesterday because I had a sushi craving and we haven't gone to Genki in a long time. This hits the spot for now as I want some high end sushi. We ordered sukiyaki, the Maui special bowl, fried sweet potato, the crunchy salmon roll special, hamachi nigiri, unagi roll, and tempura string bean nigiri. I ordered a melon soda but they were sold out. No pictures as I was hungry and thought about it after. Food was small and for the price possibly not worth it. It hit the craving though. We love coming to this Genki location. Is very family friendly and can even accommodate groups of people. Since it is newly renovated, they now have a robot delivering the food. The workers are sweet and were even giving all the kids balloons. The food is always fresh and we like to come here with our kids because they do offer some items that the kids can enjoy like French fries. The prices are very affordable. It's been awhile since I ate at Genki, but on a whim and since we have out of town family here, picked up a platter. Picked up at the Kapolei location and the wait was approximately 15 -20 minutes. Platter was good. Looks like the sushi is smaller in size. I remember when it completely filled the platter, and there was no space. Now...a bit disappointing. They did however give a condiment box that was filled with pickled ginger, wasabi and soy sauce. Quite impressive! Haven't been to this place is several years. Wanted to see how it was after renovation and with their new robot. Probably short staffed, but why did I wait 20 min for 3 small plates. My son wanted tekka maki and kanikama (imitation crab).... I decided to get myself an ikura nigiri as a little snack. Very upsetting to open it up looking like this piece of sh**. I wouldnt have waited 20min for a basic tekka, crab meat, and ikura if I dined in, right?? Pearlridge and other locations never take this long. Terrible. Not sure if this is new, it's new to me for this location but you can now order your food through your phone or a tablet by scanning the QR code. I like this way of ordering, it's easier for the customers and the employees. Something was definitely in the air that made their food 10x more delicious. My teriyaki chicken bowl was the most delicious it ever was! It's been a while eating out dining in restaurant. I love the way they have separators for each bench. That's a Plus because safety always comes first. Genki was never a disappointment to me until today. I noticed that portions for some of the high ended price items were portioned way smaller than before. It was a disappointment. We ordered chicken karaage and ended up with five small pieces. It was a $5 plate which was a total rip off. Then we ordered a $3 plate , a roll which was made very skinny and not the normal size maki sushi rolls we had in the past. The circumference of the roll was a little more than a kappa maki, lol. All other dishes were good. I love their eggplant fry. I was just disappointed at the price to portion size of some popular high ended items. Service was very excellent. We were seated very fast, or we just got lucky. They were fast with the orders, courteous employees and they were always asking how I was doing. Mood: Full Returning: Of course! What you need to know about Genki sushi is that it is straightforward sushi with your standard rolls and options. The rolls come As half rolls which allow for you to try various rolls without over ordering. However, it is helpful to remember this fact when ordering take out so you can plan to get enough food. we got salmon nigiri, a dragon roll, crunchy Ebi roll (shrimp for non locals), California roll, spicy tuna roll, and vegetable tempura. The dragon roll was our favorite, and you can never go wrong with salmon nigiri . We ordered to go and they were fairly quick. Other important notes: the spicy tuna roll tasted a little different than usual, likely due to the National sriracha shortage (until we meet again sriracha! ). They also have bento boxes, party platters for a group of people (or a post break up romantic comedy movie binge night), poke bowls and miso soup of course. The food is as okay to say that was the best thing to say about the place. The servers looked as if they didn't want to be at work. I still tipped them above the normal 15%-20%. One thing that's a big problem for me is the chit chat with the workers using another language. It is unpleasant and unprofessional to do this in any service based industry. If a customer approaches you and speaks another language that is acceptable. However to do so among yourselves is disrespectful. This type of thing is customer service basics 101 and should never be done. Especially if the person can understand you and you think they can't. Talking about other customers and knowing they'll never know because you're saying in another language is UNACCEPTABLE. Be more mindful of your interactions because you may find yourself and your establishment on social media being called out for bad service. read more
