They didn't even enter that we were seated

Biggest disappointment. Loved coming here with my kids in the past ( in Kapolei). Joined the wait list through the QR code outside, and got only one update about our wait status (31 minutes later)...as well as watched people leave, so we walked in and there were several empty tables. Hostess said they were dirty and we waited another at least another 5 minutes for them to clean a table. Waited at least another 5 minutes or so to order; expected a server to take it or at least direct us to use the QR code on the table,, but no one even came by. NO customer service the entire time, no checking if we needed anything except when we first sat down and asked us for our drink order before looking at the printed menus on the table ( another reason we were confused regarding ordering / QR code usage). Our food was just ok; nothing special and obviously premade as the sushi came out rather quickly. The only good thing was the robot bringing out two plates, but even that required staff to reset, so not sure why they're even needed. Then to pay the bill/- tried to do that on my phone too, but it said to see my server, and that was another 5 minutes or so wait to get any one of them to our table. Not sure if service would have been better if I was not a haoli here... Just saw my wait list status has me as a no show-- even though we face them our name/ waitlist info when we entered the place ( not calling it a restart this point). Bottom line/- run from this place and save your money-// or better yet, buy the poke at Foodland in the same shopping center ( like we did)-- but eat it at the beach or a park instead.

Very pleased with this stop! We stopped here for lunch after the beach. It was busy but no wait at all. They had us order and pay our tab off a QR code and then our food was brought out by a moving robot. They had a nice mix of music playing and the employees were nice. The food quality was 10/10. Everything was priced reasonably. I loved my sushi. I think it's worth a try.

Though they don't have the conveyor belt sushi anymore since they have renovated, they now have a robot that brings your food to the table. It's cool and we didn't have any issues nor missing orders. The staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming and we got seated pretty fast on a Sunday (dinner time) and after scanning their QR code on their frontdoor. The food was okay, nothing really stood out. I can't remember all the dishes we ordered, and I forgot to take pictures of all of them, but definitely order the Maui Strong Bowl. It's a mini rice bowl with garlic salmon and spicy tuna, and it's part of their Maui Strong Special Menu which is one thing that I really appreciate about Genki Sushi. From their poster, they've donated $85,000 to the Hawaii Community Foundation from August 2023 to July 2024 to support Maui's recovery. I'd love to recommend this place, especially knowing they're giving back to the community!

I love that this location I put in a massive order and they had made it in the recommended time for takeout and also didn't mess up the order or have anything missing even when there dine inside was busy I'm sure they will see me soon again keep up the good work

Been in Mainland for 12 years, visiting and Genki in Ewa was our spot ad it was right near the house. Ewa Beach is completely different and our Genki Sushi was nothing like the original back in the day. No conveyor belt which was a highlight of visits in the past, replaced with robots which I found cool- but still miss the endless conveyor belt of sushi selections going around & around. Still use the colored plate pricing. Menu is easy to read, and has so much to pick from. The Garlic Chicken was still delicious, which was a favorite. Overall the rest of our selections were okay. Not as good as my memory recalls, but okay. The Staff is what made our walk down memory lane amazing, everyone was friendly & attentive. The young lady who took care of us was patient, actually took our order without the QR Code hassle which for us older folks can be confusing - LOL She saw that I was fascinated by the robots so she had some of our food delivered by them which was awesome. Wife said creepy, I thought it was pretty cool. She also brought us extra sauce for our chicken without us asking. Food outside of garlic chicken (delicious) was a 3 to 3 1/2, but the Staff took it overall to a 4.

The ever beach location is just something special as far as customer service. They don't have the fancy carousel or anything like that that brings you your food. But it's the people that work there that are awesome! Thank you for taking care of us all these years!

To rate Genki fairly, I'd just like to preface this 4 star rating with a reminder that this is NOT a real sushi bar, nor do they have sushi chefs preparing your dishes. Genki is more of a fast food type of eatery, that will come in clutch for those days you just want to have a "cheaper" meal with variety. My wife and I frequently Genki a few times a year because they are close to home and they really do hit the spot with the many options on their menu. Our go-to items are pretty much the same as what we get in other sushi bars, with a mixture of freshly prepared nigiri and some dishes from the kitchen. Service here can be hit or miss, but thankfully, this location has implemented the QR code ordering (last year or so), unlike before when they were still a location that ran the traditional table service. This Ewa Beach location can get busy at times, and I usually see the servers doing their very best to accommodate all diners and the load of take out. With the new renovations, more families can be seated at a time, so I'm really glad they decided to make that change! From what I recall last night, the restaurant was packed with 4-top tables; it was bright and quite crowded. Definitely back to life after the shut down of their conveyor belt taking up so much space in the tiny restaurant. If you go to Genki, please don't expect a 5 star authentic sushi experience. Just go for a casual meal of yummy food, and (I believe) you'll leave satisfied. Oh ya and don't get freaked out by the new non-human staff LOL! They got these (malfunctioning) robots now.. kinda funny cuz we witnessed these bots delivering food to wrong tables. I think they need to be retrained! Haha it reminds me of "that one coworker" who's actually trying, but they're just a few screws loose!..... Enjoy! :)

First time here since newly renovated! We came perfect timing, empty, & apparently we brought the crowd because soon after we started eating it started to pick up with customers! I prefer their sushi over their Ala Moana location! Everything came out fairly quick! Hot & Fresh, so delicious. Of course hubby & I had to get our favorites, garlic salmon & spicy ahi nigiri! My babies enjoyed their fries and chicken katsu per usual. My one year old was shook there was a robot delivering his bowl of rice lol

I've never understood the logo but it's cute... ish

First of all, if you're a sushi snob, I'm not sure why you'd be entertaining the thought of dining at Genki. Not trying to knock the food there, but I'm just saying. You won't find award winning omakase here, let's start with that. Especially if you're in Ewa. But now that we've cleared the air, let's get into it. The Ewa Genki has an interesting layout. It was built to feature the belt of rotating dishes, but nowadays it isn't in use, so... now it's just not very space efficient. The servers there are, for the most part, a revolving door of younger high school/college students so although you get the enthusiasm, they're still learning the ropes. But you can take the good with the bad on that because for the most part, we've all been there. When it comes to the food, I have to admit, it's always made well and they feature some good one off dishes. My favorite is the kanikama tempura. I always order it with the sauce on the side because sometimes it over powers the taste of the sushi, but as a condiment/side dipper: Quite good. The agadashi tofu, Teri chicken bowl, tamago sushi and karaage chicken are among other family favorites but by all means, if something appeals to you, I implore you to try it. So do I recommend Genki Sushi? Yes, but do know that some plates have more value than others. So as long as you can find the value you're looking for, you'll enjoy yourself as well. And if not... maybe adjust your expectations a touch? lol Hope to see you there

Genki updated their menu and ordering system. I honestly don't like having to order from my phone while dining in, I'd rather a waiter take our order. Also, they no longer have somen salad and soft shell crab! I still like Genki, but only eat here because it's right next to my house.

Newly renovated. No more conveyor belts. New is the Keenon robot that delivers your food to your table. First, you get on waiting list to get seated with a QR code. Then you order food using another QR code. Drinks ordered/delivered from human server. They're still working out the bugs with the new system. The robot delivered someone else's order to our table. Some people in our party requested to order from the human server to make ordering simpler and easier. Menu appears to be pretty much the same as before but with the addition of some bento options. Robot needs some AI to develop aloha spirit. Bottom Line: Can't replace human touch with Apps and Bots.

We were seated in a small private room and it was very comfortable for 8 of us. We had the cucumber salad and Fried corn ribs. It was delicious, it was the first time trying it and we loved it! For our entree's we had NY Style Smash Burgee w/ fries, Washu Beef Udon, and the Chef choice sushi set. Portions were just right and everything tasted good. We didn't order drinks from the bar, we went with the usuals soft drinks which was what we wanted. The amazing thing is that the staff really work as a team, when our main server was busy someone else delivered our orders. We even had the manager come in, check on us refilled our drinks, and talked with us for a bit. Restaurant was busy at that time , so reservations are highly recommended! First, we got the Brussels Sprouts and Truffle Fries. Both were cooked perfectly, which is pretty much the trend of the night. The fries didn't really taste like truffle but they were thin and crispy, which is how we like them. The Brussels Sprouts were really good though, with the maple soy glaze. It was very well-balanced with the flavors and the sauce permeated throughout each bite. I got the Sushi omakase which came with a tuna carpaccio with Calamansi, and that was really good too, very refreshing. Then I got the 9 premium sushi they had for the day, a spicy tuna, and a spicy shrimp hand roll. They were all good, they taste how they're supposed to at their peak quality, and the nigiri were the right size and had a good fish to rice ratio. The hand rolls could've been better. But nothing really stood out. They were all okay. The nori was soft instead of crisp, and I didn't really get any spice. Needless to say, I was still hungry after that. Thankfully we also ordered the pork katsu, the scallops, and the Wafu steak. I didn't get to try the katsu but it was made crispy and my kids liked it enough. The scallop dish had a really yummy sauce, although, I didn't taste much truffle, kind of like the fries. The real standout for that dish was the sautéed Kale. It was delicious! The scallops were cooked really well and the dish was light overall. The Wafu steak came in a sizzling plate but had veggies right under it so it remained a perfect medium rare. Again, those veggies, they were so good, I couldn't get enough. The steak was good too, sweet and buttery, tender, and well balanced, how a proper Wafu steak should be. Overall, the food is good. The vegetables proved to be the most memorable and most delicious. Everything was cooked really well. However, it stopped there. Everything was technically "perfect" but there wasn't really anything I would be dreaming about or craving. I can't fault any of the dishes, not really, but I am not driven to rave about any of them either. I enjoyed the meal overall but it most definitely isn't worth another drive from town for us. I also had a couple of cocktails, which were okay. The Kakigori (we got strawberry and lilikoi) was sweet, refreshing, and a great palate cleanser. All tasty but pretty basic. The atmosphere was much more casual than I envisioned it to be which isn't a bad thing. Service-wise, there was one really eager busy bee server (kudos to him) and others that floated by occasionally to bring a dish or clear plates. Not sure what I was expecting, but maybe since it claimed to be a Michelin Star-type establishment, I guess I figured I shouldn't have to flag the server down every time I needed water. Overall, it was good. For someone from town? I'd likely not go back unless they open a closer location.

We mentioned to the waitstaff that it was our first visit, but unfortunately, we didn't receive much guidance and the initial interaction felt rather abrupt. Ordering is done either through an iPad-style menu or by scanning a QR code on your phone. I appreciated that they offered gluten-free soy sauce, and another staff member was kind enough to answer a few of my questions, but overall, we were pretty much left to figure out the ordering system on our own. Once we ordered, our food arrived very quickly via the conveyor system. The presentation was definitely aesthetically pleasing, but I was surprised by the sushi rice, which was noticeably brown and seemed to be seasoned or marinated with something. The waitress assured me there was no soy sauce in it, but I'm accustomed to traditional nigiri with white sushi rice, so I decided not to eat it. The ambiance is chill and casual, but service from the live staff was on the slower side. As for the sushi itself, the fish was just okay --I've definitely had better. Pricing was reasonable at around $100 for three people, so that was a plus. Overall, this place just wasn't my cup of tea. I'm glad we gave it a try, but I probably won't be rushing back.
