It has been a while and things have changed from when we left 14yrs ago. I remember having the sushi rotate continuously and now only when you place your order. The food was fine, just the soup we had was bad and the meat seemed spoiled. Service was good. Ambiance ok.

Tried the take-out chicken karaage bento. The chicken karaage was good and the sushi rolls were good as well. The salad looked better in the picture. I enjoyed the asian-style dressing. Overall, not a bad deal for the price.

We have been anxiously awaiting the re-opening of this location and are so happy the doors are back open here in Kaneohe! Genki is always a go to spot for a quick lunch, and with the reopening and some specials, I was so very pleasantly surprised. There was a seasonal special which included an uni shiso temaki and uni nigiri which I was so surprised to see at a genki! The staff was all very attentive and the manager also came around to check on us throughout our meal. We even got to take home a set of 30th anniversary genki sushi chopsticks. The places was lively and filled with many families just like it has always been in the past.

Only half the restaurant seating was open and there was a wait for seating most likely due to staffing shortage. Everyone at the table can scan the QR code to order items for the table that are delivered on the conveyor belt. Bathrooms are located outside and the code is listed on the wall. Sushi and hot foods were fresh.

Natto nigiri. Like a strip of toothpaste.

The service was okay. Very young kids that were trying their best. No ice in the water, forgetting things...but I don't expect much from teenagers. They seemed to just be green, but pleasant. The problem is their very food quality and extremely undersized portions. Things sure have changed...shucks.

    Missing my corn??

No way to get ahold of the restaurant as ringer on the phone isn't working. The order of chicken karaage was ridiculous - one pc of chicken and smaller pcs that looks like they could probably make another pc of chicken. Then to to add salt to injury they failed to give me the corn Sushi I paid for ‍

Nice, looking corner restaurant, poor non existent customer service!

Having lived in Utah, upon visiting we would visit Genki, when the belt was working & the restaurant was busy, grandkids loved this place as picking out your food was easy, as the belt rotated. After a few years , decided to try Genki for lunch and was disappointed at the poor service. The one person on duty Kwena had no customer service & handed us a QR code & menu's with no explanation as we waited for some kind of response.Another person came on duty& was of no help either. Waited approximately 10 mins total & walked out and went to a eatery couple doors down. Never to go back again, Kaneohe has to many good restaurants to patronize! Never bothered to look @ their reviews, to my 96 year old mother a QR code is useless!

When your kid's stomach is sending out emergency alerts, you're not waiting around for omakase and gold flakes. This spot won't win any Michelin stars, but the rolls fly out faster than your kid's hangry meltdown. You get what you pay for and in this moment, that's peace, rice, and quiet. They can do some work on making the sushi rice better tho.

First I'm the restaurant. Bad idea. Seems like staff is still asleep... at noon...

I don't know why we keep coming here. Ebi fry came out cold. Teriyaki chicken was burnt beyond recognition and chicken wings were questionable. The Sunday crew needs to be retrained or fired. This will be the last time we come to the Kaneohe location. I'm tired of wasting my money.

    Lunch

The popular Kaneohe genki sushi. This place is awesome. Good workers and fast with there service.

This is the real special however it is does not look as full or above the bowl like the photo...and for $6.75z...what a rip off
    Xanna H.

Rip off. $6.75 not even a full bowl. Doesn't look like the photo at all. Be warned. Don't buy sushi parfait. Service was better than the last time though.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the food. The kalua pig was dry, and the laulau lacked flavor, rice was hard like it was sitting in the pot all day. This is a very interesting ice cream/boba spot…read more It's actually a pretty small shop, but there are a few bar stools and bar table (6 in total, I believe). Upon entering, there is a table with an ordering menu that you fill out for the ice cream. There are no cones and no "parlor" for ice cream- only written options. The standard flavors of vanilla, creamy strawberry and chocolate are available as base choices. There were two "special" flavors of the day that was kona mud pie and another unique option. You can check off on the menu PER item how you want your ice cream in regards to toppings, syrups, in a cup or bubble waffle, single scoop or multiple scoops, etc. Hubby ordered a boba tea that you don't need to fill out on the menu sheet. I'm personally not a huge fan of boba, but he enjoyed it. The lime grape boba tea was what he ordered. As for ice cream, we ordered the following combinations: -Red velvet bubble waffle "cone" with kona mud pie ice cream and chocolate syrup - Classic bubble waffle cone with vanilla ice cream, strawberries and rainbow sprinkles - chocolate bubble waffle cone with creamy strawberry, oreo cookie crumbs and chocolate syrup The red velvet and classic bubble waffle were my favorite. The creamy strawberry ice cream was really good but the other flavors were on the sweet side- no additional toppings were necessary- in fact, I think it was overkill (though beautiful in presentation. I would probably come here again with the kids, but these are a little challenging to eat, in all honesty. The bubble waffle as a cone is nice, but not sturdy. The ice cream is nice, though options of flavor are limited. The ordering process is a little tedious when ordering multiple items, but it's understandable in order to get each one right. Cool stop if you're in the area. We walked there from Whole Foods Kailua main road (back) entrance.

There were plenty of other toppings to choose for free and others with a fee. The waffle came out soft and warm and was tasty. It only came with a small piece of Reese's and we didn't taste the condensed milk until we got to the bottom. The portion is big and very sweet so it's perfect for sharing. The place is small but has some seats inside. There was only a couple in front of us and service was quick. I'll have to try the bubble tea next time.

To celebrate Brown's birthday, I searched my Yelp app and found Napoleon's Bakery. Located inside of Zippy's, this bakery is convenient, has free parking, lots of variety, and has friendly service. We chose a Pianomo Roll, a chocolate-filled donut, and a famous Apple Napple. The Pianomo Roll is great for simple palates because it's a soft cake, rolled in butter and granulated sugar! For chocolate lovers, the chocolate-filled donut is just right because the fluffy yeast donut surrounds the rich center to balance it. Rounding out our sugar rush, we got the flakey Apple Napple. The crunchy exterior and fruity filling helped to satisfy our sweet tooths! If you haven't had anything from Napoleon's Bakery, other recommended items are the Long Johns, Chantilly cake, and Dobash cake. If you're celebrating a special occasion, they can write a greeting with icing on the cake! They also have mixes such as cornbread, pancake, and mochiko chicken batter mix so you can enjoy fresh goodness at home or send/bring to friends/family on the mainland.
