Mushroom chicken, fried rice and chow fun noodles
Maritess C.

My daughter wanted to eat here. We could have gone to any other locations but this one was hidden in a strip shopping center close to Safeway. As we entered, we were greeted by the nice lady. I decided to get two combos for me and my daughter. I got half and half, fried rice and chow fun noodles with mushroom chicken. She filled up both sides of the compartments. My daughter got the same except she got orange chicken. They give you so much food. The food was delicious and pretty consistent with other locations. The inside was clean and the unlimited fountain drinks were good. They keep it clean as well. Plenty of parking up front and across.

#TakeoutTuesday I was trying to make it a #TempuraTuesday. I went to two Okazuya places in Kaneohe - and both were closed. One restaurant takes a break on Tuesdays and the other may not reopen due to the current state of our Pandemic economy. Therefore, I made this a Happy Takeout Tuesday by selecting Panda Express - especially because they are giving Healthcare Workers 10 percent off until 12-31-20... yay! Thank you! I appreciate the kind gesture! Located at the Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center, near Safeway, Panda Express recently was closed for renovations and just opened back up again when this crisis began. They had to adjust and place a table at the entrance to block customers from coming inside. The cash register and friendly staff take orders right there at the door! It's so convenient and quick! I had parked in a (free) 15 minute stall in front of the restaurant and I'm sure that it took less than 15 minutes to order and receive my meal! My order was Orange Chicken, Beef Broccoli, and Honey Walnut Shrimp. It came with a side - I chose chow min (noodles). There was a complimentary Fortune cookie in my takeout bag - along with a package of utensils and napkin. I really liked everything! It turned out to be a mix of savory, sweet, and tangy - when I was just aiming for chicken, beef, and shrimp! The noodles were pleasantly soft, but not mushy and dry (no gravy), but not crunchy! They helped balance out the flavorful beef and tart chicken. Yum! I want to return and get more menu items! Mahalo for the fun fortune cookie!

Forgot to take a before Pic lol Food was Ono!

It was busy when we got there but we see why, they give large portions and the food was fresh when we arrived. The wait was not long as the Panda Crew had a great system to get the customers in and out efficiently! The ambiance is always good vibes!

Was kind of disappointed with my serving of honey walnut shrimp entree unless their limit is 7 pieces. I ordered the bowl. Please see pic.

Food is usually good... But the fortune cookies are stale every time. Not sure why they're even giving them out still at this point.

They have been at their Kamehameha Highway location for 43 years...must be doing something right. Decor looks straight from the 80's too...dated but nice..."Back to the Future." When I visit a Chinese restaurant I often will get something on special or a duck entrée. Requested Roast Duck with Hoisin sauce for takeaway; I received it in the 10 minutes I was told. It was excellent and a decent portion for $18. Hours are 1000a till 830p daily, except on Mondays - when they are closed. Lots of parking stalls in front...a beauty salon is in the adjacent unit. Aloha Gas is nearby.

We did have a pre-order issue, though. Since I arrived early to make sure everything was set, it was an easy recovery but still disappointing. One pre-order dish was egg fu yong. While the server was reviewing the order with me, she said they didn't have it that day. I told her I wasn't notified when I pre-ordered like I was told "no steamed fish" but I just increased the quantities for the other items and it was seamless for the rest of the guests. She did say but I ordered early enough to get my Peking duck. (If we didn't get that I would have them been pretty annoyed.) Food: Not quite as good as last Christmas but still good. Minute chicken cake noodle - chicken was a bit dry and a little tough. Noodles, gravy, Choi sum was good. Soft gau gee mein (family loves our noodles) was better - very tasty, but the gravy was overflowing and spilling all over. Peking duck - half duck, with buns. Came with the customary plum (hoisin) sauce but no green onions/scallions. Not the same without it but was good. Duck skin was crispy, duck meat wasn't dry. Shrimp chips were stale, though. Walnut shrimp was good. Shrimp was slightly overcooked but not enough to matter. Beef broccoli was very good, but not sure they gave us two orders, seemed small compared to the other dishes which we had upped from 1-1/2 to 2. Overall, it's challenging to get good Chinese food now days so we were all satisfied with the food, good service, and the ease of having the dishes come out timely. Hopefully the next time the food will have gone back up in quality and I can give 4 stars.

I go there once a month to buy food to take to my mom, who lives in a foster care home. It's usually egg flower soup, stuffed tofu with pork, beef chow mein or shrimp fried rice and sometimes a chicken dish. I order online, usually at 9am, for pick-up at 10:30. The staff are nice and friendly, which isn't always the case at a Chinese restaurant. BTW, don't place an online order too early; they might miss it. On a rare occasion, I would add a dinner plate for myself. It's on par with one I get from Golden Duck on King St. I prefer the food at K***** on the other side of Kaneohe but I much prefer the parking at New Mui Kwai. Plus, it's much closer to my home and more convenient when visiting my mom. New Mui Kwai is a solid, old school Chinese restaurant. I'll keep coming back so I suppose that's a recommendation from me. Sorry, no pics ... A picture of a box containing food containers would be boring. :p

I'd skip the siu mai, as it's slightly better than 7-11 and I'd order something else. The highlight was the salt and pepper pork chops! Fried perfectly and seasoned well! Awesome must order! Overall solid local spot that you should support if you're in the area!

It's similar to the old Patti's Chinese Kitchen with your choice of rice, fried rice, chow fun, noodles and all of the usual entrees. I went with noodles, eggplant and tofu and cold ginger chicken. Everything tasted good and the gentleman really packed the plate full! The eggplant and tofu had a slightly sweet taste but it was ok. I like that there wasn't any uncooked eggplant in the mix. The cold ginger chicken was good and I like that the sauce was served in a separate container. I would say it was a good value for the money. The 2 choice plate is $13.00.

They gave so much food that my plate was overflowing. It was around 7pm and I noticed that the sweet & sour spareribs were almost out. However, I saw them bringing out other entrees. I asked if they were going to make more spareribs. The cashier told me 10 minutes, so I waited. I'm so happy I did. The food was so good, especially at a food court. The Singapore noodles had a strong curry flavor and the chow fun had the perfect chew to it. The sweet & sour spareribs were perfect. It wasn't too sweet and it wasn't too sour, just right down the middle. The ginger onion sauce was chefs kiss. I just wish they gave me two containers as one wasn't enough for all that chicken. This place was definitely a great deal and the food was good. I can understand why there's always a line.

Plenty parking in the Temple Valley Shopping Center with Times Supermarket, Times Coffee Shop, McDonald's and more. Plenty food and the plates were full and heavy. The noodles for the Crispy Gay Gee Mein tasted like the noodles you use for saimin. But, dry and firm in texture. I found a clear, long piece that looked like fishing line in my food??!! I should've taken a picture of it. But, I just threw it away as it was underneath the noodles and inside of the take out container. I ate most of it already when I found it. Oh, wells. That usually happens to my friend and not me. I guess, it was my turn and there is always a first time for everything. Lol. Tables had boxes stacked on them, little in the trays. It felt pretty uninviting to be honest. But the man behind the counter was kind and welcomed us in. While not much was in the trays, they did have what we were looking for, so we decided to order. The man behind the counter offered us pieces of the meats hanging in the window and we knew we made the right choice. The crispy pork in the window was amazing! Between the two of us we got fried rice, crispy pork, sweet and sour pork and the broccoli beef. Everything was amazing. I was even super impressed with the fried rice which actually had flavor, and I think was cooked in sesame oil. Then we both got drinks. I got the plantation ice tea and it was so flavorful! My son got boba milk tea and said it's the best he's had on island so far. We will for sure be back!

We ordered the avocado pasta with Florentine and short rib, and it was heavenly. Easily one of the best flavor combinations I've had in a long time. Honestly, 6 out of 5. The portions are massive too, one plate can comfortably feed two people. We also tried the shrimp and the brisket. Both were very good, but the short rib dish completely stole the show. Everything was packed well and ready to go. My only suggestion would be to include more napkins and upgrade the utensils a bit to better match the quality of the food. The cheesecake, unfortunately, left a lot to be desired. Given how incredible the mains were, I had high expectations, but it didn't deliver. 2 out of 5. I'd skip dessert next time. A generous amount of chicken as well. Couldn't leave without getting some dessert, so got a calamansi lime cheesecake and the lychee cheesecake. I wish there was a stronger calamansi flavor to the cheesecake but the lychee one was delicious! Service was quick, you order what you want and they call you when your order is ready, if you want to explore around the area/wait in your car. I waited no more than 10-15 mins. There's no seating inside, so this is a grab and go type of place. Next time, I'll be sure to just call in the order and maybe request for the sauce on the side so my noodles aren't mushy.
