This is a tough one to review. Why because the order and delivery method were fun and fast but the food was a little like buying from the market. Well kept in the refrigerator. I like my sushi To be prepared while I'm waiting. It wasn't bad just not great which is the reason for the 3 stars. I'm sure the kids will be entertained by the order and delivery by fast train system. It was fun for family and fast delivery however I think I like the sushi bars where you watch the sushi chefs prepare your selections. Staff is very nice and quick to refill your drinks. We did take out on a Wednesday night. It was a busy night so we took our food to go! The karaage chicken was burnt and tasteless, the sauce for the tempura pumpkin was spilled all over the container making it soggy, and the poke bowl was mushed ahi! We called the manager the next day and her response was was "Oh we've had complaints before" when we said we'll never come here again she replied..."oh that's too bad" What horrible customer service!!! We visit this location pretty regularly for a quick bite. The best bang for your buck is the store specials. They change every so often but recently they have upped their game. They offer more "exotic" options but keep in mind the price point. (Quality is not the best) Service is always pretty good/consistent. We very rarely get an order that is missed BUT definitely cross reference the check and what you received. The new cell phone ordering system will charge regardless if you get your food. Sitting is not suitable for big parties that want to site together. They have a booth type set up with bench seating. read more

The wife and I wanted a quick bite to eat after a late lunch. It was 8:15 on a Thursday night. Pulled up and restaurant wasn't too busy. Place was about half full on this night. We walk in and try to check-in.... "Sorry, our wait list is closed for the night." We look around and check out watches. Then double check the posted hours. We were confused. Denied seating a full 45 minutes before posted closing time at a non-busy restaurant. Come on Genki. Workers wanted to go home early? Probably. But you should make it clear that kitchen closes 45 minutes before. 15 minutes I can understand, maybe even 30. But 45? Not cool. read more

Genki sushi was our favorite sushi restaurant, so much so it was in our wedding vows. This was our first time to this new location. Located in Kapolei commons, lots of parking and easy to find. I love that to check in, you need to scan the QR code. Love that you can see the waitlist live on your phone and that you get a text when your table is ready. The wait went by pretty fast because we walked around Marshals while we waited. We are a party of 6 and an infant. So we took up two tables, that was located next to each other. The service was pretty normal. Workers were all friendly and nice. To order food, you scan a QR code on a receipt and order on your phone. The food was pretty good. The portions were really small though for being pretty pricey. One roll was $6 almost $7 for 4 pieces. A two piece gunkan was $5. Would've been a 5 star review. The ending of our dinner is where it goes downhill. We asked one server for the bill & to combine our checks and she did, when we received the bill, we noticed things were there was not supposed to be. We let the closest server know, after awhile she figured out that one of our tables check was combined with ANOTHER tables check, that was next to us. We sorted out what we had and what we didn't have. While doing this, the server let us know that this happens sometimes. Me, coming from food and beverage I totally understand mistakes happens. They separated the wrong check & added the right check. The server was very nice, and was very apologetic. Tbh during the whole ordeal she seemed kind of like she didn't want to deal with the mistake, that she didn't do. Understandable. But this is the part that got me kind of confused. Where was the manager during all of this? Not once did she greet our table, or the other table. We gave the cash to the server, she took it the front register. My husband realized "oh we should've went to the register" so we go and the manager is there making our change. My husband said that the workers and the manager were laughing when we got up there. When we get up there, she started looking at us weird. Maybe because we were asking for the receipt back (but that was because we wanted to see how much to tip, we got it back and realized we needed to give $10 more additional with the $12 change.) that kind of made me upset, during the whole ordeal, no manager to be found, when we do see the manager she gives us funny looks. No apology, nothing. I know mistakes happen but to be treated in this manner was unacceptable. The worker had better customer service than the manager. Came here yesterday for an early dinner. This must be a new location because last time I left my rating of 2-stars, they were on the same side as the now-closed Pier One. We were a party of six people. The COVID rules at this establishment only allow four people max, which is understandable, given a booth normally only seats four people anyway. The thing I didn't understand was having to wait a super long time to get seated. One member of our group had to go back in to remind them that we were waiting outside. We sat three to a table. Adults on one table and the kids were by themselves on another table. The tablets used to order the food was bolted to the table, so my neighbor seated next to me had to reach over in front of my face to tap the sticky screen (kind of gross). I tried to order Chawanmushi (savory egg custard) on the tablet after trying to order it from the waiter as he said I could order it from the menu, but that was incorrect. There was no chawanmushi on the menu! I told another server and she said no, you have to order it from them, it's not on the menu. Food took a while to prep and come out, unlike most Genki establishments, which are way quicker. They did have the electronic little bullet trains that bring your food to the table. The nice new thing is you don't have to push any button, it goes back to the kitchen automatically. I never seem to have much luck at this location, new or old. We visited this genki today around 2pm. The food was great. It came out quickly, was fresh, and delicious. This is one of the better genki locations for food quality. The service is what really needs improvement. How are there 6 workers sitting in the corner chatting when there's barely any tables to service and the food is sent out directly from the back of house? The call button must not work or is ignored and the workers seemed to be avoiding eye contact when we tried to get their attention. Plates and litter wasn't cleared. They seemed inconvenienced when I asked for utensils. To get service, we had to get up and walk to the beverage station the servers were all huddled at chatting for anything. It took forever to get attention for the check, just overall an unpleasant experience where i felt like an inconvenience. Came in for an early dinner on a Saturday at around 5, and the place was already getting filled up. I guess people like to eat dinner early here! Genki is the same chain as Uobei in Japan. It's conveyor belt sushi but instead of old sushi going round and round, you order what you want from an iPad instead, so it's freshly made. Once you put in your order, your plates magically stop in front of you on the belt by where you are sitting. I can't remember everything we ordered, but we ordered quite a few plates. We left stuffed, and the bill was relatively in expensive. Is it the most high quality sushi ever? No. Will it curb your sushi craving? Yes. Will you get a good deal? Yes, again. I didn't make a review of the old location but been there many times. But with the renovations it's way more nicer, bigger and the quality of food also improved if you tell me. It's very convenient ordering via electronically. It removes a lot of the wait time from ordering and trying to catch the server if you missed something or want more. We ordered a lot for only a party of 2 but how can you not with prices not being to bad and the food being really good. We ordered a variety of rolls, bowls and fried items. Really enjoyed their stuffed mushrooms and mussels at this location as well. Location is pretty similar to the newer locations like pearlridge or waikele. The staff are friendly and they are fast to refill our drinks. Overall has a good experience at the newly built Genkis in Kapolei. Definitely a big change with location and food. I seen another review regarding the parking and location. I as well did get confused getting to the location. I'd recommend skipping the first right from the stop light and entering from the second right turn. Genkis should be on your right. read more

First timers and as Sushi lovers we could not wait to give this place a new try! We were so impressed with the safety and the way they serve you. You pick your Sushi from your own iPad at the table and a little train pulls up and delivers it to your table!! Now that was so amazing! Immediately after entering my spicy tuna hand roll, the little train dropped it off within minutes! Than came this ice cold Pre-wrapped roll. The seaweed came in a separate plastic cover for me to open peel and roll on to my roll? Than came our favorite Ahi... My husband and I both ended up spitting it back into our napkins due to so much fat and the texture was super hard to swallow. When we asked the manager why are the sushi rolls so refrigerated cold he said they only sear the warm dishes. We had a total of eight sashimi's on our table. And three of those rolls got spit back out. Perhaps this was our fault assuming we were going to be dealt fresh rolls today but that's not the case at this restaurant. And some places your info is on a college ruled notebook like IHOP (yea you read that too) but here I feel it's the most reasonable secure, depending on the IT department. After checking in with the hostess, you scan the QR code to register. Once registered, you're saved into the system. This is genius. Of course they ask the standard question and take everyone's temperature. I mistakenly answered "No" during the survey. My bad. And ever other booth is secured for social distance. And they clean. I get there are roaches in Hawai'i, but I really don't like seeing one climb out of the kitchen that I'm sitting next to and go under the thing that's bringing out my food. I like the concept of conveyor belt sushi and ordering from ipad. Keeps it simple and my kids can have fun at the same time. However I think this location isnt up to par as far as food quality goes (sushi) and functionality. The staff is young but can blame them they are doing their job. Food is very odd, their take on spicy tuna roll Is just a tuna roll and topped with some time of chili pepper topping. I almost think it is tajin. Manager "Lovessa" was extremely rude. Went to pay and realized an item on our tab never made it to our table. No big deal, so I told her at the register that one of our hotdogs never arrived and if we could please have it to go. She just stares at me and hands me my receipt. I look at the receipt thinking perhaps I wasnt charged for the missing item and there's a misunderstanding. However, after looking the the receipt, it appears I was correct, we're missing something. Again, no big deal (aside from her attitude). I look up at her and say, "I'm sorry, did you hear me earlier? I'm a little confused. We were charged for 2 hot dogs and only got one. Can we please get the second one to go?" She rolls her eyes, says nothing and does something with the touchpad in front of us and hands me a new receipt. The second one is now only charging us for 1 hotdog. I look up at her (now annoyed) and say "No. I want it to go.". She rolls her eyes yet again and hands me another adjusted receipt, says I'll be right back and walks away. When she returns, she puts the box on the counter and as I'm trying to thank her for bringing it she turns her back towards me and walks away. No idea what her issue is, but I am always kind to wait staff, there was absolutely no reason for her to be so rude. 9/20/18 Like hurricane disaster preparedness, we Westside folks have our own little "traffic disaster preparedness" routines. Upon checking the Westside Traffic Alert, I discovered that due to an accident, it was going to be one of those days. I usually have water and snack rations in the car for those kind of days, but with rations depleted, decided to make a detour into Kapolei for a bathroom pit stop and some food. It's super easy to get home past dinnertime, so I figured if I grabbed some finger foods, 1) I'm multi-tasking, 2) I won't take my hangriness out on people and therefore be a better driver, and 3) I won't have to eat dinner so late. Satisfied with my multiple rationales, I set my sights on Genki. I remembered that they offered "Bentos to Go". You get to pick one choice chicken (seafood is extra) 2 types of sushi. You could add poke, but finger foods was just enough for me. With traffic backed up to the exit, an empty bladder and rations replenished, I proceeded to the back of the line...this time armed with a garlic chicken, ume maki and oshinko bento! I also enjoy ordering on the screen versus having to feel rushed ordering from a menu. The poke bowls are good, every sushi role I have gotten is good. The sashimi plates also very good and The garlic chicken is excellent. My personal favorite is the baked mussels, this is a must try if you like mussels! french fries for the little ones are always a hit. Place is very clean Servers to bring drinks very attentive Another plus, you scan the barcode when you get there and add in the number in your party And be on the waiting list.. Then depending on how busy it is you can just walk around and be able to keep track of where you're at in line. You get a text when your table is ready. This is efficient, in the sense you're not waiting around with a bunch of people, you can wait in your car or you can walk around the stores in the area. But always know where your place is in line. The kids enjoyed their kiddie cup and it made for a spill free lunch. In addition to sushi, we ordered chicken, ika, and pumpkin. They were all delicious.
