This sushi place is okay. The restaurant is rarely busy. Always plenty of sitting. The food is good. The quality is ok. The prices are decent. The restaurant is big and fairly clean, could be cleaner. We usually do take it but this time we decide to eat in. Our waitress was great she was friendly. We were her only table (only people eating there) but she might of been new because we had to keep calling her to our table for refills etc. The reason for the 3 starts is when we went the chef whom I think might be the boss or owner was scolding the poor waitress. Apparently she had set napkins and chopsticks on every table and she wasn't supposed do that, it was very uncomfortable to hear their conversation that should of been done in private. Don't bother going here. After reading some of the reviews, I thought I'd take a chance. Big mistake. The sushi is substandard and isn't fresh. The service was okay, but I got a glimpse of the kitchen on my way to the bathroom and almost died. I asked for my check immediately and paid for my order. As I was walking to the door my waiter asked me why I didn't tip. Really rude. I told him to look at the kitchen. A friend and I were talking about dumps to avoid when eating out and he mentioned he took a date here and it was a disaster dinner. We laughed about it. Poor sucker! read more

This is our favorite sushi restaurant in Oxnard after trying more than a handful. Is this wildly authentic Japanese sushi? Absolutely not. Is it still great food with reasonable prices cold drinks and a nice atmosphere for families. 100%. It's different and very fun. Came here for dinner on a Friday at 6 pm. Just in time because after we were seated there was a steady group of people waiting to be seated. So this is a poplar place! Service was pretty good. We ordered our drink and we were brought out complimentary miso soup. The soup was tasty and my margarita refreshing. For starters we had spicy garlic edamame and it was delicious. Love roll was good. It was filling! Baked eel and crab inside. Oxnard roll and Hanaka roll were both good too. My favorite was the crunchy roll. Lightly fried and drizzled with teriyaki sauce. Very good. Lastly we also had an order of shrimp fried rice. I like that the veggies were fresh and crunchy, great for added texture to the rice. Good flavor too. My only complaint is that I had to ask for several items. A serving spoon for the rice, plates for the rice and wasabi. Happy eating, happy yelping. read more

The great reviews are unbelievable. They have to be lying. This is the worst so called sushi I've ever had in my life. When the menu says "soybeans" instead of "edamame" You ALREADY KNOW they don't know what they're doing. The spicy tuna was plain tuna with sriracha splattered all over it. TF? I just tried this place out yesterday having dinner with a friend and I can definitely say I was the only Asian person in there LOL Nothing wrong with that but I think the flavors of the food is more catered to the Hispanic and Latino community :) I ordered the Golden Crunch Roll and my friend ordered the Lakers Roll. Both were baked and had a sauce drizzled over them. I enjoyed my roll which had spicy tuna as well as tried my friend's which had cream cheese. I regret not taking a photo of my roll but that one roll had about 10-12 pieces which left me completely full. My total came out to be $8 which is pretty good for one baked roll but my stomach felt uneasy afterwards from either the food or me just trying to suck in my stomach while hanging out with my skinny friend LOL read more

This isn't the best sushi in Oxnard but it definitely is the most convenient for me. It's right down the street from my job and it's the closest one that taste good. One of my favorite things to order is the baby octopus. I'm not sure what they dip it in but it always taste amazing. They also have a lunch special where you pick 3 sushi rolls from a selection listed and it comes with either miso soup or a salad (which is a pretty large portion). The only drawback is you can't order two of the same rolls which is kind of weird. They will charge you extra for that so they have to be 3 separate rolls. But they do have a special like, come on your birthday with eight or more people and you'll receive a free roll and they also have a $5 drink specials from 9pm-12am. You can catch some dancing and live music Thursdays from 9pm-12am as well. So if your close by and looking for some descent sushi, this is the spot but I'd only recommend it for the lunch specials, otherwise the price doesn't match the quality if it's not a special. My husband and I decided on take out & we decided to do Genmai for the first time. We got a total of 7 rolls for us & our kids. I'm giving them a 4 because as I said I got 7 rolls and they were tasty but again we got 7 rolls and only got 4 packets of soy sauce. My husband did also ask them but did not open the bags to check hoping they threw in enough for our 7 rolls. Good food but next time we will for sure be checking the bags. read more

I hate leaving bad reviews but this place has gone down hill TREMENDOUSLY. I get the service is slow because not everyone wants to work because they get unemployment, that I get. HOWEVER, the quality of the food was horrendous. I ordered the chicken curry which *in gordon Ramsay's voice* was f**king bland!!! That wasn't the worst part though, I came home to give my dogs the food instead & noticed some of the chicken was pink inside..... and the "curry" sauce tasted like sweet tapatío... wish I was lying. I think we found a new favorite Sushi place. I ordered the Hanada, which was a special roll. If you are looking for something with new flavor and crunch, try this one. It has spicy shrimp, which you know I'm not a fan of spicy...but the onion vinegar counteracts very well. The rolls are of generous size and the service was on the ball. For a Friday night there were only 4-5 tables full. But there is plenty of seating outdoors. There was music but it was difficult to hear over a loud pounding (maybe a fan)? I've had bad service before , but never as bad as this place. We waited 30 minutes for our waiter to take our order because she was flirting with guys at the bar and was drinking along with them. When she came back, she played it off and pretended nothing happened. She rushed us to order and soon after went back to flirt and drink. As me and a friend finished, we had to call the waiter over several times for her to give us our bill. It wasn't until after we screeched our chairs that someone came to us with our bill. The food tasted like it had alcohol in it and the "crunchy roll " was completely over cooked. I've never EVER had a really bad experience until today. Something has changed. Been getting takeout every week or two for over two years, now their online menu has dropped all sushi rolls and their wonderful poke bowl. I was able to place an order over the phone, however. For weeks now, when I ask about their online menu missing all their entries under "Sushi", the answer is that their website is under construction. Not as convenient, but the food is still good. One other good side effect is that takeout orders placed over the phone are ready pretty quickly. read more

I love, love this sushi restaurant. I've been coming here for years. Not only do I enjoy coming with friends to enjoy live music and yummy drinks. It's also very family oriented for my son. The ambiance is intimate, fun and casual. If you aren't happy with the food they will gladly accommodate your needs. They have a great variety of selections. One on my all time favs is the Hannakah roll and the 805 roll. Micheladas are bomb and their cucumber margaritas are amazing. Their new manager Andres is very personable, friendly and very sweet. My third & most recent visit was three weeks ago for lunch. The chef served me tuna, salmon, & yellowtail sushi, plus a spicy tuna roll. All were OK, but did little to excite my passion for the fish. While the chef & staff are welcoming, I just haven't found the food exciting enough to add to my list of places to spend my dining dollars. Tried this place last night. Nothing stands out except it was dimly lit which i actually enjoyed. Its a sit wherever you choose type place, some people like that, some people dont so thats just more of an fyi :) but not bad sushi, tasted fresh.
