Lunch special: Meatballs and house salad
Gina S.

Good pizza and food, been going to this local spot since I was a little girl. We have seen 3 change of owners and the food is constantly good. Ao happy for the new owner who has been working there for years and the hospitality, Enjoy a good lunch special, pizza and they have a dinner special with bread, drink, salad or soup, spaghetti and meatball and pizza. Great deal, go hungry!. Lol. Salute!

Genovese's is our families spot. I been coming here since the early 1980's it has a new for last ten or so years it's a small and giving you still amazing pizza!! Before the pizza's couldn't fit thru the door so you turn your box's side way's But now it's wheelchair accessible with a wider door today. The largest pizza is 36 ' inch still the same sauce and topping. Today we stop for lunch and we had the lunch specials The owner is Chef Hugo and owner. Service is excellent Karina has been here forever! She amazing she runs the lunch and dinner inside and out and there's a back patio very cute and the front has tables back before the pandemic you had to wait in line for a table. But let share the love here keep it going here. Karina has know my brother for awhile now and what he like all the menu but no cheese my brother he likes it here cause it close by to his home and he's regular here. It's always clean and very fresh food The owner always comes out to ask you how it going too Air conditions is great here and cool inside too it get hot in the summer afternoons but nights are cool in the patio's. All we love the pizza and food from here

I came in not long after they opened, was sat and ordered straight away. Food came quickly, service was good. I thought my food was fine, I think I'll order a pizza on the next visit. Some room for improvement could be had on their ordering systems through apps. While dining in, I overheard 2 different parties come in with orders on an app and the restaurant reported they had not received them. The waitress and one of the cooks were trying to troubleshoot on their end, but they appeared to be struggling. I personally love the ambiance, it's quaint and simple. I did, however, find a couple spiders in the bathroom .

Veggie pizza

The food was delicious, made with a lot of love. The waitress was very kind and gave great customer service . They have a reward system as well, I already got $10 off the next bill. We will be coming back again soon.

Tuscan salad with chicken

The food 10/10, the service 10/10, the ambience 10/10 !! I ordered the Tuscan Salad with chicken instead of shrimp and a slice of lemoncello cake, it was all magnificent. If you're in the area I suggest stopping by and sitting in the outdoor area, you wont regret it.

Cute patio space, homey and eclectic. Everything is self-serve; dinnerware is in the armoire. The waitress looks busy and overwhelmed. The sandwich looks like a deli sandwich and lacks presentation. The minestrone soup is on the acidic side; a chunk of cheese in the soup is a nice touch for flavor, but again, the presentation... it looks like a piece of floating booger. But of course, the pizzas seem to be their main thing, and they did not disappoint. I asked for thin crust and extra cheese on the margherita and quite enjoyed it. The salad was great, very fulfilling, with 10 pounds of veggies, and the prawns were nicely flavored. Good spot to sit on the patio for a relaxing lunch, like a little oasis away from the city. The urinal in the bathroom is unusually tall, not friendly for my fellow Asians.

Pizza , pepperoni and sausage cheese

Food is delicious . Haven't been here in a few years . Smells and taste are the same . The nostalgia kicked in big time . the owner and staff made us feel welcomed

Waiter Manuel. This…read moreis a review reflected on you, solely. Being kind is the moral of the story, from the beginning you were passive agressive with your comments and tone. Being in a party of 4 girls coming from high tea, we were dressed in elegant dresses, first comment was asking if we were coming from church, followed by eye flutters, short "okay" with an upward inflation to a joke about the day, an impatient comment about hurrying up and trying the wine while we were talking, asked for water when we were out, were left to pour the rest of our wine, didn't ask how the food was all the while was attentive to the table behind us, the cherry on top comment was when we were discussing the bill at the end, he was hovering at the table behind ours, then when we were ready, we asked to split the bill into 2, my portion on mine and the rest on another card, he then said "this isn't like a drive through, we can't do it that way" so I asked him to explain his comment, cause it was passive agressive and rude. After he wasnt able to becuase he wasnt expecting me to call out his rude comment, I had to then break it down and specify what I had ordered, he then sold "okayyyy....so how much, cause we don't itemize?" I had to again express for him to specify how they do it cause he has still yet to explain where his attitude is coming from and explain how they do their check splits, from my understanding it just felt like he wanted to play dumb and make me to the math, one I did he was like "ohh, okay" should have asked for the manager but we paid and left, I hasnt had this experience before being a returning customer, but he needs an attitude adjustment as his attitude was completely out of pocket. Do better Manuel, you alone got your place of work a 1 star. The rest of the staff was kind, facility beautiful and food and wine was good. This restaurant is not reflected in the 1 star.

I know nothing about wine, but if you're a wine snob, I'm sure you'll find great joy in choosing the right wine for you. The highlight of the experience was the staff working there. Emily and Alfredo are so very welcoming and kind. It's probably the best service I've received at a restaurant and I truly cannot overstate just how phenomenal they are. They went the extra mile to make us feel at home. On top of that, even though we've only been there a handful of times over the course of a year, they remembered us and even where we were visiting from. Thank you Emily and Alfredo!

There was also a customer at the bar who was very friendly and showed us pictures of her wine adventures. She even recommended visiting Sonoma or Temecula for future wine tasting trips. This bar is tucked inside Vroman's Bookstore (already one of the most charming and iconic bookstores in the area) so the entire experience feels like stepping into a warm, literary universe. You can browse for a new book, take in the bookstore's atmosphere, and then walk straight into the bar. Honestly, it's the perfect outing. What makes 1894 truly special is how intentionally it celebrates literature. Everything in the bar pays homage to the bookstore. The drink menu is full of clever, book-inspired names. You'll find cocktails like Pride and PearJudice Pride, Fifty Shades of Earl Grey, and other fun literary twists. Every drink feels like a little wink to readers, writers, and book lovers, and it adds such a unique charm to the experience. The vibe is super quaint and warm, dim lighting, and a creative atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours. The wine is on the pricier side ($19-$21 per glass), but the quality delivers. Customer service was excellent. One of the bartenders spent time chatting with us. He pointed out a chalk artwork behind the bar a dramatic portrait he drew himself featuring expressive, literary-style faces, like Edgar Allan Poe, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, etc. It fits perfectly with the creative, bookish aesthetic of the bar. The way we were greeted and shown to our seats, you would have thought we were VIPs. Everyone was so friendly to us, and made us feel extremely welcomed. I truly think that every staff member we walked by from the door to our bar seats said hello and welcomed us to the restaurant. I don't know how to describe the level of service other than it was Masterclass. Special thank you to Wolf, our bartender/server a the upstairs bar. Yes his name is Wolf, and he's just as awesome as his name. So friendly and attentive. As for food, Wolf recommended we try the biscuits and I'm so glad he did because it was not something that I would have ordered had it not been for him. Literally the best biscuits I've ever had in my entire life. There is no other biscuit that comes close. It's exactly as it is described on the menu... flaky and buttery. It's an experience, truly. Even if biscuits were not what you thought you were going to order, just get them anyways. You have to try them. Just do it. GET THE BISCUITS! Other than the biscuits, we got the following: Calamari - some of the best I've had in awhile. Crunchy and crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. Cooked perfectly. Hanger Steak - I didn't specify the doneness but it came rare which was perfect for me. The steak was great, I enjoyed every bite, but the mashed potatoes were EPIC lol. Burger & Fries - The fries in particular were amazing. HUGE portion, very crispy, and well seasoned. As for the burger, I liked the simplicity of it. However, I think it was way over cooked. I personally like my burgers to be a bit more juicy and medium doneness. The Bill - beware of the 4% surcharge. I don't really understand these things. Just price the food how you want to price it rather than adding a 4% surcharge to the final bill. Also, their suggested tip is calculated using the Total including tax rather than the subtotal. So basically you're tipping the tax lol. So aside from the bill and a little underwhelming burger everything else was absolutely incredible.

The meat is tasteless, processed, and worthless. AND it's small! It's covered and salt to cover the complete absence of flavor. No fresh toppings available (I asked) except garlic mayo to cover the flaws. That burger is a prominent, featured choice in a very small selection of entrees from which to choose, and it should be wayyy better than that. Instead it is a complete failure.
