I had the steak and eggs for $13.95 and I can't think of another place with this place. I was afraid that the steak would come out dry but it was tender and yummy. There's not a lot of places left like this. So I felt compelled to give my most honest and complete update review for this place in the hope that more people come and support this really dope establishment. First off, go to your local diner. Wherever it is. Entrepreneurship is the spirit and blood I think of big this beautiful place we live in. At its core, I believe it exist in places like your local diner. But I'm gonna get off my soapbox. As long as I've been a patron of this restaurant, it has been the same family running it and that is probably on the higher side of maybe 20 years. This restaurants food is authentic both on the Mexican side as well as the American side. Their flavors are consistent and a great value on the portion side as well. Ok the food: breakfast The pancakes are a must. Just really good. Try them. The omelets are top notch. Bacon, Broccoli and Swiss don't miss. Whichever side you choose whether potato or cottage cheese and a slice of tomato with an English muffin (you're welcome) are solid choices. The Bun N Burger special omelet is also a great choice. Steak chunks, onions, peppers, guacamole and cheese. Yeah, that. I do no peppers and extra onions myself. Delicious. Chilaquiles (the red) with steak and two fried eggs. A big ole plate of buenos días. Machaca is also in the rotation here for me. With extra salsa on the side. Highly enjoyable. Chile verde, fried eggs with rice and beans. Big yes. Side of bacon here is a low key must btw. Breakfast burritos on point too. But that's usually a to go thing for me. Burgers: Their burger special is the best burger deal locally. Go find out. I love their patty melt with their waffle fries on the side. They include a pickle slice too. Classic. The shakes here are a made in the metal cup the old school way and brought to you in the metal cup as well. My favorite way to have them. I could go on but I've said enough. I got the beef burrito, which was really bland, that I had to pour some salsa from the chips and salsa (which was very good, I'll give it that). I also asked for no cheese and found there was cheese inside. To also make matters worse, the burrito itself was very cold. There's a certain charm about old school places like this. I love the old school decor and the old photos of Alhambra on the wall . The food is pretty good. The burgers and breakfast items are really good. I just had the chorizo and eggs recently and that will be my new go to dish here. What's even more amazing are the prices. We ate here for the first time today on July 4th . Such a quaint diner, with a restaurant seating area on the side. We decided to sit at the diner and have a cheeseburger and waffle fries. Let's start with the burger, the burger is huge with lettuce, tomatoes onions and you can either get thousand island dressing, but we chose to get Mayo. It was absolutely delicious way better than In-N-Out Burger no comparison at all. This is our new favorite burger spot, hands-down. The service was absolutely amazing. The order came up very quick. We stopped in for our first time as a party of two this past weekend and even though it wasn't that crowded and we just ordered an omelette and pancakes & eggs we had to wait an hour and 20 minutes for our food to arrive! Literally OVER an hour! Also, the menu is very small and as mentioned it is cash only. Our server was very polite and very nice just everything took forever. Not the sort of place you would want to go to if you are in a rush based on comments from other diners around us. I do like the inside interior, it has a bunch of Americana strewn over the walls and makes it feel like a local country diner. They also have a parking lot in back so is fairly easy to find a space or you can also just do free street parking. Even though the service was extremely slow and it is cash only it is very fairly priced and the food quality is very good. Everything that we ordered came out great it just took forever to come out. For my first visit I chose the Special Omelette and really enjoyed the marinated steak and the guacamole on top. It was a great sized portion and I honestly really liked the everything about it. If it weren't for the service delays, I would've definitely given a four or possibly even five out of five. We decided to stop and have breakfast before heading to appointments and we landed at this old fashion traditional cafe. We were sat on the booth and as I was glancing around, I saw this picture of "1910 Citrus and Badillo St. Covina" The menu picture was so familiar to us but no relation to one of the restaurant in Covina. Our server Alicia was so nice and attentive. The food was cooked to our liking and because of the high prices of eggs, she did say $1.00 extra charge for our breakfast since it does have eggs on our order... no problem. Came here after the Rose Bowl Parade and it was the best first meal of the New Year! We had a party of 8 and we lucked out and waited for maybe 10 minutes for a table since a big group had just left. They seated us at the back and the tables they gave us could've easily fit 12 people. Also, this place is GREAT for kids. We had 4 kids in our party. The wall decor and vintage photos were fun to see, especially the old pics of Alhambra. I got to try the waffle with fresh strawberries, chocolate chip pancakes, Popeyes omelette, and chilaquiles. All were so delicious! Portion sizes were great and prices were amazing! There was a long wait to get our food but as it says on their menu, "Good Food Takes Time to Prepare". So take some playing cards or games and enjoy talking story with some nice company while you dine here. You can see the few cooks behind the counter moving at 100 mph getting the orders in. I love love love old diners, and this one is as old school as they get. They are cash only, so take note. My partner had been meaning to bring me here for a while, and we've been on the search for non-bougied up food in LA. This is the place for it. No frills, not fancy, they have a counter with the fixed stools, and an old timey cash register. The prices are unbeatable. We got huevos rancheros for $9. Single digits! Unheard of in LA in 2024. At 11am on a Saturday, it was relatively quiet. I'm torn between keeping this place my secret go-to diner place, or making sure everyone knows about it. They have two rooms - one with a counter, and just a few booths, and the other one that seems to have more tables (I tried to be inconspicuous and peek in, but then felt awkward). Service was great!
