I am very happy now and can smile again Dr Anthony Follico has been my dentist for 12 years. It's always been "straight" up about what I needed and when I needed it. He never tried to upsell me on "sh--" I didn't need or couldn't afford. When he tells you it's time to do something it's gotten pretty serious. I have occasionally used other dentists here at Gentle Dentistry but my strong advice is to insist that he treat and/or examine you. I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

I've been to this office multiple times, and unfortunately each visit has been frustrating. Every appointment has involved waiting over 30 minutes before being called back, and then waiting another 30 minutes or more in the treatment room before being seen by the dentist. My time never seemed to be respected. Another concern was the condition of the dental instruments. The instruments used during my visit did not appear clean. As someone who works in the medical field, they did not use sterile techniques when performing invasive produces. Which made me feel very uncomfortable and raised concerns about the office's attention to cleanliness and infection control. What ultimately convinced me not to return was that I felt pressured into paying for a gingival irrigation procedure that, after seeking another professional opinion, I was told I did not need. That experience made me question whether unnecessary treatments were being recommended. I'm sharing my experience so others know what to expect. I had a horrible experience at Gentle Dental. Before my first appointment, I read the reviews and was surprised by how many people mentioned the front desk staff being rude. Unfortunately, I experienced the same thing today. The patient scheduled before me actually walked out because of how she was treated by the front desk staff. When it became my turn, I ended up doing the same. There was an issue verifying my insurance. Instead of trying to resolve it, I was repeatedly told that it was my responsibility. They insisted I had Medi-Cal, which I do not. They also refused to call my insurance, saying that because their fax machine was working, it was my insurance company's problem if they couldn't get through to the office. After about 15 minutes of going back and forth, they finally called my insurance and learned that my dental coverage doesn't become active until August 1. Rather than simply explaining that, they told me they were "trying to give me the benefit of the doubt" and that I needed to "fix my attitude." At that point, I decided to leave, just like the family before me. I've never walked out of a medical or dental office before, but the way I was treated was completely unprofessional. It's unfortunate because the reviews warning about the front desk staff turned out to be accurate. read more

Office staff is rude. Appointments are not taken on time. The typical wait time is 45 minutes after your appointment. The lab time was delayed. It took 2mos more after the initial 6mos for my teeth to be ready. And that was after numerous calls and appointments. Don't bother going here! read more

The entire front desk of ladies works hand in hand with the dentist to screw people over financially If I could call the police I would but this is a civil matter... after talking to my family.. not only has my father had issues with this same place but even my sister had gone off on this dentist for messing up her tooth.. i would do everything you can to avoid this office. I've already filed a report.. 3 months after a root canal they never sent in the approval for a crown ( which they said they did) and I ended up having to do it myself, after I got the approval they tried to tell me I had to pay for what was covered ( told her to call the insurance company and confirm) she stated "she wouldn't" and "we would not be going forward with the treatment today". After arguing with the front desk. she then changed her story saying I needed something else now when the paper I'm directly looking at said it was covered BY MY INSURANCE WHEN I CALLED. Needless to say I told them id be taking my business some place else cuz this is the second time I've caught them blatently lying to patients. Thankfully, I have dental insurance, so it wasn't overly costly. I had anticipated pain, but Dr. Sadighi's expertise made it entirely discomfort-free. This place is bottom of the barrel trash. They told me I needed to get my wisdom teeth removed and that I had two other unrelated cavities (I've never had a cavity in my life). Then, they told my sister she has FIVE cavities. Immediately following this, they drew up a bill for us quoting the services at $6k+. I left and went to another dentist where they informed me that my wisdom teeth grew in flawlessly and I did not need them removed. Additionally, I had zero cavities and my sister had 2. Moral of the story: This place is attempting to perform unnecessary and damaging procedures on patients in order to make money. Outright evil. read more

I was attempting to become a new patient. They had difficulties verifying my insurance, even though I had everything they needed. They then asked me for the insurance holder's SSN to verify the insurance. I refused to give this sensitive information and cancelled the appointment. As someone who wasn't even seen, I was charged a $25 cancellation fee, even though I was asked to come in an hour and a half early and the waiting room was empty. I refused to take the appointment because I was afraid they would do the cleaning, and then claim that insurance did not go through, and then charge a full amount. If you try to make any appointment and it seems unnecessarily difficult, or you see any red flags raised, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

This dental practice doesn't even deserve a star. My husband had undergone a root canal with Gentle Dental last year and a year later he started having tooth pains. Excruciating pains that he had an emergency visit to gentle dental and all they gave him was a numbing cream. He barely slept that evening due to the pain. The next day, this clinic called him to book another root canal when he just had his a year ago. I advised to decline the appointment and booked us with another dentist for a second opinion. We found in an instant a big infection caused by his last root canal. $5000 later, we're back to getting another root canal and getting another crown. If you want your dental service to be done correctly the first time, this is definitely not the place. read more

This place is trash. My senior citizen father in law went in for a cleaning paid by medical. They had him sign some docs and gave him a deep cleaning without explaining the difference. Then they had him sign paperwork financing it for $1400 because he didn't have the money to pay for what should have been a free service. After 6 months, they admitted overcharging and credited him $1000 after he was already in collections and this became a full time job. Now, he is in collections again. I called to go over this and the staff was complete trash over talking me and fighting with me over common sense items. Seems like the lady does this everyday. Only 1 star because I have to leave at least 1. This place is horrible. Horrible customer service and extremely unethical. I've seen a lot of reviews on here about their ridiculous confirmation process which makes sense now. My husband, myself and my daughter WERE patients there. They have all of my insurance info and contact info, yet when I brought my daughter in today they said her appointment was cancelled because I never responded to their messages. When I asked what number they were using (because I never received any messages) she gave me a number that was not mine. I had to take off of work and take her out of school/cheer practice to come to this appointment that they cancelled because of a mistake they made. No apologies or effort on their part to correct it - this was where the horrible customer service comes in. The office staff was extremely rude as well. Also, they are refusing to do my husbands 6 month cleaning that is covered by our insurance because they are insisting that he needs a $1400 deep cleaning with laser treatment. If we don't agree to that, they won't do the regular check-up/cleaning covered by insurance. Seems like they are doing anything they can to get more money out of people. read more

It saddens me to write this review Especially considering I had once given them five stars But the last three times I've gone into this Costa Mesa location have been a nightmare I chipped a tooth and a brand new hire came in to fix it and did an ok job I thought but within a day I had to come back bc the filling was chipping off in front where my lip touches and the doctor just filed down my tooth so it is now super flat. I was distraught about that but I figured it would be fine Until it started chipping off at the smallest things like talking! So I went in today to get it fixed a second time and the original doctor had been let go So they had a doctor named dr nick look at my tooth and he just filed down my tooth so bad my front teeth are now UNEVEN and he had the nerve to say "well I can file down the other one?" And I was like NO that's MY TOOTH and he said "well you can only tell cause you're staring at it" No, I can tell because you fucked up my tooth. So disappointed. So sad. so upset. Never coming back here. Was told I should feet a veneer if it really bothered me (it's my front top tooth, screw that.) Do not go here!!
