Read my update on 4/28/2022 before using Gentry Moving & Storage!! This mirror is over 80 years old and was given to my parents as a wedding present. Both my parents are gone and this mirror is precious to me. I have been waiting five years for the damage to be repaired. They did not wrap it to avoid damage, they forgot to take it off the truck and did another move and did not know it was on there until I called looking for it. Movers didn't finish the job, left the first place they were moving without telling us and didn't move all the things, when they got to the destination my 71 year old mother was berated and verbally assaulted for not being on time after they didn't tell her they had left. I have used Gentry 3 times in the last 2 years. I moved my primary residence in December 2016. In one day, 3 men and 1 truck we did a full house move (pack, move and unpack). We packed all of our stuff except for wall hangings... we just did not know how to protect them. Gentry to the rescue. It was a professional experience at a very reasonable price. Those men worked hard!! Our second experience was a small office move. Again, a top notch experience. The movers were efficient and respectful of our stuff and office spaces. Our third and most recent experience was a piano move. Again a professional experience at a reasonable price. With this much history and experience I would not use anyone else!!! read more

Gentry Moving is the most unethical, dishonest company that I've dealt with in my 30+ years on this earth. My wife and I had a straightforward residential home move. Gentry's movers: * caused significant damage to our house that almost ruined our home sale and cost over $1,300 to repair * openly acknowledged that I was being grossly overcharged for their services. I was being charged hourly and the movers would disappear for long periods and openly admit they like to take their time on nice weather days. * stole a valuable item (worth $200+) * broke several items that were packaged properly * failed to move a significant number of our belongings, causing us to need to make several trips ourselves to finish the move * left dirty fingerprints all over our new house and belongings, causing us to clean up for days after the move When I called Gentry to try and resolve these issues, they remarkably blamed me for not noticing the damage quickly enough (I noticed it they next morning). Gentry even made up a complete lie to try and claim I caused the damage myself. Gentry also disparaged their own movers and claimed they weren't responsible for their poor and unprofessional behavior. When I was getting nowhere with Gentry and told them I'd leave an honest review on Yelp, Gentry ignored me. Then on the next three days, Gentry left themselves THREE fake positive Yelp reviews from newly established Yelp accounts where the only review the account left was for Gentry. Thankfully, these fake reviews have been removed by Yelp. I would not trust a single positive review of this company. I am reporting Gentry to the Rhode Island Attorney General's Office and encourage others who have been taken advantage of by Gentry to do the same. It appears that several others have had items stolen and had their property damaged, with Gentry refusing to take any accountability. read more

Beware! They will bait and switch you. I have moved all over New England and never had a problem until I used this company. They quoted one price and I had to write a check for over a thousand dollars after I arrived at my new home. For example They did not bring packing materials which I had to pay for and they underestimated the time it would take to move from one state to another. The most upsetting part of the move was although I clearly stated I needed them to unpack the boxes and take the packing materials away , they told me when I got to my new home they had to go home as my time was up and they could not finish the job. Gentry Moving was referred to me by a coworker who recently moved from Mansfield to Attleboro, MA. Karen worked hard to find time to fit our move into their schedule (I wanted to move out within two days of my call with her). They made it happen! Karen said they would arrive between 8am and 9am. They arrived promptly at 8am on a Friday (in morning commuter traffic in the city!). I was already impressed. Tony and John were courteous, efficient, and very fast. Gentry Moving has a minimum of 3 hours that they charge and then they charge by each additional hour and one flat fee for travel. Tony and John moved our stuff from our 2 bedroom, third floor apartment to our new home (30 minutes away) within that 3 hour span! Watching them maneuver our big dresser down the spiral staircase with ease astounded me. I will admit, whenever I had to move I always opted for renting a Uhaul and rounding up my friends to help but I am so glad that we decided to enlist the services of Gentry moving. This company is rude, uncooperative, and unprofessional. This business was unable to provide adequate customer service while I was returning to RI from out of state. After requesting retrieval of my belongings on short notice, the staff became hostile, angry, and unwilling to work with my limited schedule. After waiting 4 days after I initially informed the company I needed my belongings, I called again asking to pick up my items. When I arrived, I was met with confrontation immediately. The workers were aggressive, hostile, and unwilling to assist me in loading my belongings into my vehicle from their warehouse unit. This company is not customer friendly. Worst movers I've ever hired. Dumb & Dumber were sent over. An expensive Vase was broken, furniture was dragged across my wool carpeting rather than picked up & moved. Let's see what else, they scuffed & damaged my bureau then tried covering it up, then a beige chair was wrapped and dirty moving blanket do that the chair was completely filthy when they placed it! I was patient & understanding sent in the invoices & comps after Gentry sent out a rep to assess whom was quite shocked & agreeable as well as apologetic 4 week's later no reimbursement & when I contacted them a third time to follow up I was given the run around & still no reimbursement. Definitely recommend Gentry Moving! We just completed a huge 3 day move that required a total of 4 trucks and 8 men. What could have been a nightmare because of weather, timing and other logistics, actually turned out to be a great experience. Never got a chance to do business with these guys. Good thing! After informing them of my intended move, likely sometime in June this year, I took off work early to show a guy my entire house. I then waited 3 days for a quote before sending a reminder email. My reply informed that, not only did they record my email address incorrectly, but that they "had no availability" during my timeframe. I mentioned that I was flexible, but was brushed off with a " we're going to be busy all summer". So why not tell me that right off? Why make me take time off to meet with you? I've been calling Brian Crum at Gentry for years now for our office moving / repair needs - sometimes weekly - and he and his crew have never let me down. They're easy to schedule - usually next-day, and sometimes same day when there's an emergency - and the crew always gets the job done quickly, efficiently, and cheerfully. Very (very!) expensive and they take a long time w/ long breaks. Most of my belongings were scratched or dented. They don't carry or wrap your stuff... they stack it on top of each other and throw it on a dolly. I'm still noticing things that are broken, scratched or dented. At least 8 items. Heed the warnings. We just moved from RI to MA and were extremely happy with Gentry. Obviously we don't move every day and had heard a number of horror stories about moving. Everyone we interacted with at Gentry, from Mike, who did the estimate, the office help and the movers themselves were easy to work with. During the actual move, they kept us informed as to when they would arrive and verified everything we wanted moved before they got started. Patrick, Dan and the rest of the move team were quick, efficient, careful and friendly.Particularly on the unpacking, they worked with us as we fit our existing furniture into the new location. I have nothing but positive things to say about Gentry moving! We moved from a house to duplex and I was really concerned about choosing a moving company! I called a dozen, had several come over to quote and researched online for weeks. I just didnt have that for sure feeling until i spoke with Brian. He assured me that they would be able to handle our heavy and breakable items. I also felt at ease that they have an A+ and no complaints on the Better business beaurou. The day of the move went off without a hitch! Brian sent Tony and Ronnie and let me tell you those two guys are a dynamite team. They had incredible attitudes the whole day even when lugging heavy oak furniture and a large refridgerater up a flight of diaganol narrow stairs. They were very respectful, were extremely efficient with their time and how they packed the truck. They communicated well with eachother every step. We were so impressed with their proffessionalism and skill. They didnt damage anything and were very accomadating with moving more of our home than we intended having them do. I could never in good faith recommend a company that has such disregard for the job they perform. They did not arrive within the agreed upon time. The movers were highly unpleasant and uncooperative. And not only did they damage the apartment and stairwell of the former apartment they damaged furniture in the move as well. After making my appointment Gentry called back a couple days later to verify that all details were correct. 2 days before they called to confirm the move. The guys arrived on time and were extremely polite and professional. They loaded up the truck quickly and efficiently and arrived at the new location right on time. All furniture was wrapped and arrived without a mark on it. They asked where I wanted things and went out of their way to make sure I was pleased with everything. The hourly rate quoted, while higher than some companies, included everything. No hidden charges or fees, like fuel for the truck, etc. My move actually ended up costing me less than I had anticipated. I would use these guys again in a heartbeat. read more

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GENTRY MOVING. At the end of my move to a new apartment, I was told they didn't have the hardware to put my furniture back together and they thought they left it at the house. I drive back 30 minutes to meet them only to find out they did indeed have the hardware in there van, and also a few box's they forgot. I was billed that overtime hour, is this incompetence or just a game they play. When I got back to my apartment, I found the china cabinet was not put back together and the mirror on the master bedroom dresser was still leaning on the wall and no hardware to mount it and my wife had already paid them. I called Brian to let him know his people didn't finish the job but he never returned my phone call but did cash my check. It's obvious all they care about is the money. I had to pay a maintenance person to fix what they charged me for but didn't do. Lousy customer service and bad manners, you get an "F". Ed T. read more
