The food is amazing. Staff is great but very disorganized. Service is painfully slow. The good news is that the food is worth the wait.

Waited 30 min for waitress walked past us multiple times with no menus or drink orders, never had this type of service.

Georges makes you feel like you're going home for breakfast or dinner. We came through Lubbock and stayed for two days. We were looking for a good place to sit down and eat breakfast. We were glad we found George's. You walk in...they tell you "good morning...just find a seat anywhere". Before you know it you've got a waiter/waitress with a smile in front of you to take your order and someone always walking around to refill your coffee cup....something you don't see much of these days. The food is home cooked, well priced and you will come back the next day, because we did, lol. The atmosphere makes you feel like you are back in your grandma's kitchen listening to all the folks talk about the good ole days. Just a great place to go. I highly recommend this cafe. read more

I almost hate leaving a positive review because I love having a place in Lubbock where we can have a great affordable breakfast and not fight crowds day after a game. But good people and good places and good businesses deserve it. If you're looking for a no-frills home-cooked quality breakfast, this is definitely the place to go. Not the fastest, but sometimes it's nice just to slow down and enjoy the people you're with. And usually when we're in Lubbock for a game, we're visiting our daughter. Andthere's nothing more precious than spending time with your children laughing over a home-cooked meal. Note: i'm lazy so use speech to text for most of my reviews. I have driven by a few times and didn't realize they were open from the looks on the outside. Once you go inside, it's very nice and clean. You can sit it any open table. When we walked in, there was a weird smell. I think it was the smell of cleaner and something else. The staff was very nice and friendly. The decor was eclectic. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it tasted a little sour. It also had a lot of breading. Hopefully I'll try it again another time. read more

Very popular breakfast place on the weekend! Despite having to wait, it was a good experience. Good service, good food, cozy atmosphere. One issue on our recent visit had the women's reaction out of service. The men's restroom was clean and available, but having a notice on the women's door would have saved discomfort and a long wait. read more

We came here during breakfast and they kept coming around filling our coffee. Our cups never fell below half way way. Food: This place has down home favorites: we got the chicken fried steak, the Denver omelette and a side of meaty sausage and biscuits and pancakes. The chicken fried steak was chunky not overly battered and definitely home made. The gravy was home made with a little bit of pepper and not too salty . The eggs are nice and runny, the only downside was the omelette eggs were dried out. The pancakes have a nice little vanilla flair. The biscuits with sausage gravy are moist and oh so smooth. They crumble the sausage on top instead of integrating the two. Lastly those hash browns. I could have had 5 plates of them. They were perfectly crispy and inside still soft. Pairs well with a slather of ketchup Overall: This place is good. It's got the majority of your Texan favorites. It's got all your favorites with all the southern hospitality. When I first moved to Lubbock I asked a friend of mine to take me to where they had a good juicy burger like they made at an old Cafe style restaraunt, like with the bun toasted and the patty made from real.hamburgerger meat not a thin frozen one. Very busy little cafe. Came in Thursday morning for breakfast. I ordered the eqvilant of a Mini grand slam breakfast, but wanted a pancake...so did hubs, no substitutions made, so we ordered a side order of pancakes. Hubs had coffee, I had water, brother in law had chocolate milk and Biscuits were good, although I would like them straight out of the oven and not pan grilled. We were told that our food was being plated, and it wasn't. 20 minutes later we had to go up to the counter and remind them that the biggest table in the restaurant hasn't been served yet. Awful service and cold food. The biscuits and gravy came out cold, and our waitress never came to check on us after the food was brought out. We had to call over another waitress to ask for ours to be sent over. I didn't leave a tip because she was a terrible waitress, and she ended up writing in a tip for herself.
