The food was terrible, the ambience was even worse. We made a reservation for 8 PM showed up on time. We were then told that the kitchen was closed and they weren't serving food. We let them know we had a reservation so they ended up seating us in a corner while they broke the restaurant down for the Friday night bar scene. The food was just terrible. Not sure how this place has such good reviews. My boyfriend and I both disliked our food. It was probably the worst dining experience (in terms of food) that we've had. Service was fine, ambiance was ok (not really sure the kind of music they were playing is the best kind to add to ambiance), parking was awful, but that can be forgiven if the food is stellar.. which it absolutely is not. I rarely leave one star reviews, but the food here was awful. My boyfriend had an entree with chicken and spinach on top. It was dreadful. The chicken was ridiculously overcooked and dry, and he regretted ordering it. My stuffed falafel was slightly better, but definitely not good. We went there as a special treat when visiting Long Beach, and regretted having to pay good money to eat some of the worst restaurant food we've had together. Sad. Came by today after ALA (Anime Event/convention) in Long Beach, and thank goodness we happened to catch their happy hour! Got some good pita and dips along with discounted drinks woo. It's not my first rodeo at George's Greek Cafe for sure. But I have to say that each time I come the quality is consistent. I will always enjoy their classic Gyro. This time around I came with friends and we could share sides of course. We wanted to try the SAGANAKI aka the flaming cheese. I love the little festive 1-2-3- OPA (opa?) chant. For me I'm not a big fan of saltier cheeses, but my friend loved it. I think it's a blend with some kind of goat cheese, and the pita with it of course is bomb. Portions here are really generous, and since it was my friends' first times we were treated to some baklavah yum! Amazing service and amazing food as usual. We ordered the Gyro wraps with fries and salad for me and my husband, and for my two toddlers we got: a burger (literally a bun, with a pickle and a patty slapped on it), chicken 'tenders', with fries and rice. Gyros: was alright in taste. Could have been a bit more seasoned, overall a bit boring, something was missing, not sure what exactly. Fries: tasted kind of old? Chicken gyro sandwich with garlic feta fries 8/10 The chicken was cut into thin, long strips. It was pretty good, but the Greek Pico de Gallo was maybe not enough to flavor the sandwich. I added some of the eggplant humus to the sandwich to add some more flavor. The garlic feta fries were garlicy and salty. Flavorful but definitely makes you want to drink more water. Bathroom ?/10 Bathrooms were two stalls. Room is oddly shaped like a trapezoid. Nothing wrong with that, just surprising. Overall It was okay, not bad. Interesting to try! The bf and I were exploring Long Beach yesterday and decided to try out this place for a late lunch/early dinner. The restaurant is actually pretty big with and outdoor patio. We sat outdoor as it was nice outside and it wasn't as loud as inside - I swear I couldn't hear myself when we walked through. The outdoor seating seems like a nice place to eat at when it's dark outside as they do have lights set up above and on the nearby trees. We got the Falafel Gyro with fries and Gyro with salad. I love love Greek food and I found the food here to be pretty average. I've had better for a much cheaper price. The side salad is huge btw and my bf and I ended up sharing it. The experience could've been better honestly. There weren't that many patrons while we were there and we saw about 4+ staff members walking around. However, it was almost impossible to even ask for extra napkins or for the check. I feel like the staff checked on us probably once and that was to ask if they can take our plates away. No one really asks how we were doing or if the food was okay. However, they were very talkative to the other tables. Stellar. Went here several times for breakfast with a group and everyone loved the food. One of the best breakfast burritos I've had. My favorite was the breakfast skillet with pancakes. Everything was cooked to perfection. The skillet is a good sized portion, the potatoes are cooked just right, loads of meat in this skillet with ham, bacon and sausage. Amazing. I really enjoy the food here! In my four days in town I found myself here three times. The gyro sandwich is a solid great tasting go-to with a generous portion of gyro meat and plate full of fries. Salads here also won't leave you wanting more, again generous and delicious. I opted for the Greek Village Salad and I highly recommend it. The noise from the neighboring flamenco dancing is way too loud and super annoying. Their servers were rather nasty and unfriendly. Food was nothing special. Just ordinary. Long waits while the servers disappeared to wait on tables inside. The only smiling face - trying to do the job - was the runner/busboy. The final straw was the 20% tip added to my bill for a party of 6. We were a party of 5. Is that a mistake or were they cheating me? By the way, no mention of a 20% mandatory tip for any size party appeared on the menu. I'll never come back to any of the Georges restaurants again. read more

All the 4+ reviews are either from last when the food was actually good and people never ate Greek food The Chicken Kabob is legit just Costco chicken skewers. Straight scam don't even order this. You're paying 18 dollars for something you can get at Costco for 16 dollars that at least has 18 skewers. And that's not even mentioning the salty ass rice. Lamb chops taste like left overs. I ask for medium rare and it comes in well done. Don't even get me on the pita or hummus. Definitely store-bought and very bland. Nothing is fresh except the beer and wine. Chef (prob not one by the looks of it) is definitely a disgrace to the restaurant, chefs, and Greek food. The dude can't even dice and boil vegetables correctly. Happy hour from 3-7pm everyday is really a great deal. I am not really a fan of Greek food but I know Mediterranean diet is the healthiest for sure. We passed by and decided to come in for some happy hour drinks and snack food before our dinner nearby in about an hour. We sat outside at the window seat connecting to the bar, it was a very cozy and intimate spot for hubby and I on a late Sunday afternoon. The happy hour menu was impressive on both well drinks and food items. We decided on Guinness draft and bottle Corona, also fire feta dip with pita bread. The dip was the best I have ever had, both hubby and I were so surprised. It was spicy, rich and comforting, the warm pita bread was fantastic too! Our bartender was so friendly and attentive, actually all the bartenders were the same warm and welcoming.
