This was the first time I had German food. It tasted very delicious and was a good amount of food to keep your belly full. The people were very friendly and even offered us food samples. The place was also very chill with a lovely view. I would definitely return!

Try their CURRYWURST! It's the best, as well as their cold cut sandwiches and brats Ps. They're also in Long Beach @ Bixby park

It was delicious. We used them for a corporate event and gave a reasonable price. Everyone loved it and enjoyed!

Serious German food. Try the liverwurst sandwich, and the smoked cheddar sausage. I wish they moved that truck around more often.

Ridiculously good sausages. You can sample any sausage flavor. Best sourkrout I've ever had.

After dropping our son off at LAX, we searched for a German restaurant on our way home. We found this place in Long Beach and are so happy we did. It's a great corner spot with both lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It was decorated with lots of German artifacts, as well as World Cup items. The workers were very friendly and welcoming. They gave us some great suggestions and we took him up on them. They had a large selection of German beers and I got a Dunkel since it's one of my favorites. My wife got at Helles. For food, we had to get a pretzel, Wiener schnitzel and potato pancakes. All 3 were delicious as were the two beers. It is our new go-to German spot.

Faves: pretzel - probably one of the best i've had since Chalet Edelweiss (LAX) shut down. they'll apparently have the ginormous ones during octoberfest. until then, rasselbock will be my dealer. brussels sprouts and potatoes - although came as sides to the bratwurst, i plan to order a platter of these two sides. the crunch and crisp of both, properly seasoned, the fluffy potato inside, it's been two weeks i'm still thinking about them. these superstars made up for the meh vegan bratwurst. I appreciated the patient servers who only showed up when we needed (i don't like fussy servers checking on us too often. it gets in the way of me eating.)

Absolutely Outstanding -- A Hidden Gem Since 1956…read more If you're looking for authentic German and European food in Southern California, Gazzolo's European Restaurant & Deli is an absolute treasure. The restaurant has been serving customers since 1956, and you can feel the history the moment you walk through the door. The warm wooden booths, European décor, German beer signs, and cozy atmosphere make you feel like you've stepped into a family restaurant in Germany. I ordered the Jägerschnitzel, served with rich mushroom gravy, traditional German potato salad, and sweet red cabbage. Every bite was delicious, and it paired perfectly with a cold Paulaner beer. What impressed me most wasn't just the food--it was the story. Our waitress told us that when one of their employees was 17 years old, the original owner personally taught him how to make their famous sausages. Today, at 81 years old, he's still there making sausage five days a week. That's over six decades of preserving the same recipes and traditions. When I asked what his favorite sausage was, she smiled and said, the veal sausage. That alone guarantees what I'm ordering next visit. In a world full of chain restaurants, places like Gazzolo's are becoming rare. Family-owned, authentic, and built on generations of craftsmanship. If you appreciate homemade food, old-world hospitality, and restaurants with real history, put Gazzolo's at the top of your list. I'll definitely be back. Next time... the veal sausage.

I ordered the Cordon Bleu Schnitzel with Brussels sprouts and spätzle on the side. The schnitzel was easily the highlight of the meal. I don't come across Cordon Bleu very often, so I was excited to try it, and it absolutely delivered. The Brussels sprouts were a great pairing, and while the spätzle was pretty simple with a light buttery flavor, it complemented the richness of the schnitzel well without overpowering it. The service was great throughout the night. Our food took a little longer than expected to come out, but it was a busy Friday night and our server kept us updated the entire time, which I really appreciated. My friend was also celebrating his birthday month and was given a free Beer Boot, which was a really fun touch. The atmosphere was lively and perfect for hanging out with friends. We were there while the NBA Finals were on, which made the restaurant feel even more energetic. One thing I also appreciated was how easy parking was, there was plenty of street parking both in front of the restaurant and across the street. Overall, Wirtshaus has a unique menu that you don't see very often, and I'll definitely be back to try more of it.

I paired it with homemade sauerkraut and homemade Spatzle, which made the meal feel truly authentic and comforting To complete the experience, I had a Paulaner Oktoberfest beer and it paired perfectly with the food The service was friendly, the food was excellent, and I really enjoyed my visit. The only thing I felt was missing was a stronger German atmosphere. Some traditional German music playing in the background would make the experience even more immersive and memorable!!
