AWFUL SERVICE -- EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING My family and I dined at Ruth's Chris to celebrate my brother's birthday and the experience was terrible from start to finish, primarily due to our waitress, Michelle. Michelle was not attentive, warm, or polite at any point during our meal. Two of our steaks were cooked incorrectly. When we brought this to her attention, she said she could have them remade, but that we would need to take them to go because it would take a while. That response was shocking. Why would anyone want their freshly remade steak boxed up when they are dining in and paying premium prices? On top of that, Michelle never asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. I had to get up from the table mid-meal to inform the manager that it was my brother's birthday and request a dessert with a candle. To make matters worse, my mom's meal included a complimentary dessert, and Michelle never once asked which dessert she wanted or offered any options. Later, when Michelle came to clear the table and asked if we were ready for the check, we said yes--assuming she would bring the birthday dessert to the table and then the check. Instead, she returned with the check and the birthday dessert in a TO-GO BAG. Completely absurd. In what world does a server package a birthday surprise to go when guests clearly came in to celebrate? It was thoughtless, careless, and ruined what should have been a special moment. Ruth's Chris is known for fine dining and high standards, but this experience did not reflect that at all. Management seriously needs to address Michelle's service. 0/5 stars. Again, the place was nearly empty, so we asked--since there were only four of us and this round booth was very tight--if we could switch to a four-top somewhere farther from the windows and doors because it was freezing. We were told, unequivocally, that they could not move us. They were "full." I realize not everyone is skilled in the art of logic, so let me paint the picture: if we're sitting in a booth meant for five and there are roughly twenty-five empty four-tops, the solution is not complicated. Give us a four-top and put whoever you planned to seat at that four-top into the booth we're relinquishing. It is a zero-sum game. You were not accommodating. You were obstinate and difficult purely for the sake of being obstinate and difficult. Food was fine. Service was OK but the management team was truly weak and weak to the point of define any sense of logic.... Table next to us did order the turkey dinners and had to send them back twice because most of the food was ice cold but maybe that's the way management wanted them to eat it.! Had a lovely birthday dinner out with my husband and folks. This place is very spacious and open. Can be cozy if you get a booth. We shared the porterhouse steak with mushrooms and Brussel sprouts. If you're craving a good steak, this was the way to go! So absolutely delicious. For dessert I had creme brûlée and they brought out a mini cheesecake wishing me a Happy Birthday. Extremely disappointed by this location. Our party ordered appetizers, drinks, meals and desserts. Our appetizer never arrived, only a single soup for one person. The rest of us waited patiently.. but eventually the meal just arrived. We informed the waiter. He told us the kitchen was delayed in making it and asked us if we still wanted it. We were uncertain as the meal was already here. We decided if it was already made they might throw it out, so why not. I kind of expected they might comp the appetizer for the mistake. Nope. No such luck. The $20 was worth the loss of a customer I guess. Given all the food and wine.... with the bill over $400... seems like a poor decision. Mistakes happen. No one was upset or angry, but now I see why people throw tantrums. Apparently it's so the business takes accountability. The waiter overall wasn't good. We still left the standard 20%, not wanting to punish the kitchen (I assume they split tips) . This guy wasn't good. Steak was cooked pretty good. Mine was slightly over temp but I was afraid to send it back for fear I might not get it back from the void. In the end, I don't think I'll come back. Upon arriving, the table was covered in birthday confetti and I received a handwritten card which was a nice touch. We all jumped right into entrees. The stars must have been truly aligned because my dining experience was absolutely flawless! My husband booked a reservation to celebrate my birthday--something low-key but still very fabulous. From the moment we arrived, everything was on point. The hostess greeted us warmly and seated our party of three right away. When I got to the table, it was decorated with confetti and a birthday card displayed in a place card holder--a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the evening. Our servers, Hannah and Alyssa, were truly exceptional. Both were incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, explained everything in detail (even down to the plate temperatures), and made sure we were well taken care of. Thanks to them, I enjoyed not one, but two perfectly made French 75s and got a little extra bread--because it's the little things! The General Manager even insisted that my dessert be on the house, which was such a kind gesture. And let me tell you, my Tuna Mignon was cooked perfectly medium rare--absolutely delicious. This was my first time eating at a Ruth Chris Steakhouse, so I cannot compare it to the other locations. I was a bit disappointed with the atmosphere at the restaurant. I booked reservations for three, approximately 4 weeks ahead of time. We were given a snug booth directly adjacent to the noisy bar. AND it was during their Happy Hour with sports playing on a large screen TV and people socializing. I could barely hear my dining companions. The hostess said she had no other tables available. The waiter was a newbie, having only started 6 days prior. He was pleasant and attentive, with a few hiccups along the way. I am not a steak eater, so my choices were extremely limited, but the others in my party enjoyed their steaks immensely. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast which was very good but not what I was expecting. I ordered a complement of grilled shrimp which was in definite need of improvement, and the chopped salad. It was delicious but the blue cheese was overwhelming. For dessert two had the Creme Brule which was tasty but did not enough crunch to the torched sugar topping. The third in our party had the New York Cheesecake which was nothing to write home about. So, in all, here is the breakdown of my experience: Food: B+/A- Service: A- Atmosphere: C Price: C- (Overpriced soft drinks and generic beer) Total bill for a family of three: $453 Suggestion for improvement: If someone is spending $75 for a steak, he/she shouldn't have to pay $14-$16 for a side of veggies or mashed potatoes. Bar staff is attentive, the area itself is huge, we would return more often to this space if we lived remotely nearby, which we do not. Festive atmosphere at the holiday time. Visited restaurant during their Happy Hour recently. Our party was warmly welcomed by the hostess. Warmly greeted by our server who explained the Happy Hour menu and what drinks were included on the menu. Ordered the cheeseburger from their Happy Hour menu which was cooked to perfection and was reasonably priced at $16. The cocktails were excellent and again reasonably priced. Restaurant layout was laid out nicely with a separate bar area with tables and the restaurant area on the opposite side of a dividing wall. Restaurant lighting was a little low for some of our party but set the right atmosphere. The servers were extremely attentive and professional and offered menu suggestions for some of our undecided members . First time I was there and I'd certainly would recommend the restaurant to friends and will return myself. read more

We got so excited when a Ruths Chris opened closer to our home because we are big fans. I was a little disappointed that the ambiance wasn't in line with that of the Garden City location because there is really nothing else like that location around and it has a very cool vibe. This location felt more mass produced to me. (Which is fine, just wasn't what I was personally hoping for) It is still a beautiful restaurant. Beyond the ambiance, the service was awesome! Our waiter was on point the entire meal. Our food was delicious as always. My filet always comes out on a plate of sizzling butter, and to me that is a dream. Overall the food and experience was exactly what I hoped it would be and we are still very excited to have a location close to home. Went there Sunday at 6 pm for a Friends Birthday . reservation for 11 people. went to the table it was a bench on one side against a wall and the rest chairs, there was no room to walk around bench it was hard for people to get out of the bench side to go to the bathroom,The table next to our was empty but the floor looked like a dumpster with garbadge on the floor. Tonight we went to Ruth's Chris to celebrate our daughter's Sweet 16. We also celebrated her friend who was sweet 16 yesterday. I can't say how impressed we were. We have eaten at many Ruth Chris restaurants before but tonight they truly went out of their way to make it a special celebration. When we got there, the hostess greeted us with Happy Birthday! The table had confetti on it and a hand written birthday card. Happy Birthday was also printed on the menus. The room was comfortable and the decorations made it more fun! The food was amazing. We had 2 calamari appetizers (both were devoured) the girls and I all had petite filet mignons and my husband had a NY strip. Delicious. For sides we had lobster Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Everything was incredible. For dessert we had the chocolate trio and cheesecake. The server was Matthew. He was fantastic. We will absolutely be back! Highly recommend if you want a special night! Disappointed by Unprofessional Management Behavior I've been coming to the Ruth's Chris location at Smith Haven for quite some time now, and I've always loved it. Even in the past when there were minor issues with my food, the staff handled it with grace and professionalism, so I never wrote them off. However, this is the second time I've witnessed something that I can no longer ignore. As someone who used to be a store manager with over 15 employees, I understand firsthand the importance of professionalism and timing when addressing team concerns. That's why I was extremely disappointed to see the restaurant manager, Byron Guardado, coaching an employee on the floor, and worse..... behind the bar in front of customers. This kind of conversation should be handled privately, away from guests and in a respectful manner. Not only was it uncomfortable for me as a customer, but I can only imagine how embarrassed the employee must have felt. Regardless of whether the employee was in the wrong or not, there's a time and place for that kind of discussion and it's not in front of patrons. On a positive note, I did speak with Emil on my way out, and as always, she was incredibly kind and professional. She apologized on behalf of the manager, which I appreciated, but unfortunately it doesn't erase the discomfort I experienced during my visit. I truly hope this is addressed internally, as I really do enjoy this location and want to continue supporting it. But management must set the tone and in this case, the tone was completely off. read more
