Got the poppers, submarine hoagie, mega fries, chicken tenders, and pepperoni rollup. All were awesome and arrived within 30 minutes of placing the order. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! My wife gets the Sausage Pizza with Extra Cheese and Extra Sausage. I then take her left over sausage and place it on my Cheese Fries, which are well done with extra cheese. (Yes, my wife and I love cheese.) More importantly, they have the cut up sausage that can be difficult to find these days, especially outside of Philadelphia. This place is the best. this little neighborhood joint is totally underrated. it looks like it has been around since the beginning of time, and it probably has - i can only guess, i've only been here two years. george's makes a salty delicious little kalamata olive pie. i get extra olives and extra toasty. not too much sauce, good cheese. deducting 1 star for crust which i could stand thinner and crispier but otherwise george's meets all my criteria: delicious, fast and cheap. add some of victory's golden monkey and a hells kitchen season finale and you have no reason to leave the house for the night. thank you! read more

One of my go-to's in an otherwise overpriced Northern Liberties. I think they make a great, affordable slice and a top-notch cheesesteak. Among one of ?uestlove's favorite steaks in the city, I definitely would get salt, pepper, ketchup on your cheesesteak with provolone (only way it comes unless they offer American too). They take cards which makes things a lot easier as well. Very friendly service and watch out for some interesting characters at night, the people who order from here are some bizarre people...but that's just another night at George's and I wouldn't want it any other way. read more

Ordered through grub hub. My order was supposed to be finished and on its way at 1120. Even though it's less than a mile away it still took 25 minutes to get to my house. No wonder it arrived cold. I opened the box and cheese was only on half of my pizza. I've eaten a lot of bad pizza in my life but never have I received one with cheese only on half. Go to Francos or Primos instead. Unfortunately they closed at 10 and George's was the only one open. read more

Had a code through Grubhub and ordered some late night food... requested a chicken cheesesteak with extra meat and ended up getting steak (read:steakum) instead. Otherwise, the Stromboli I ordered was pretty good. I'd understand if they ran out of chicken or something but in addition to the online order (which I checked after seeing that I received chicken rather than steak to make sure I didn't screw something up), but I didn't receive a phone call and the hand-written order slip (I'm guessing they don't have a printer handy?) has "cheesesteak" written with no mention of "chicken. I get it, everybody makes mistakes. But it's late and of the 5 or 6 options I had to choose from, this was the closest one so I wanted to support a local shop. In the future, I'll go elsewhere in the hopes that they won't screw it up. Edit: The original review was based on my one and only poor experience with the place. Their pizza may be solid. The stromboli was really good... I'd encourage you to read others' experiences before making a decision on whether to check this place out or not. read more

With the bright fluorescent lights making George's stand out on the street, you can only assume that some old out-of-touch Italian guy runs the place. That's what I had hoped for so badly. I had hoped that George's could be my savior. I had hoped for a good honest pie for what good honest pie should cost. No more of this NoLibs fru-fru, bastardized, I'm gonna charge you $3 extra for a different shaped dough, kind of "pizza". Aside from price, unfortunately, my expectations weren't met. I got a large pizza with peppers and onions, just shy of $13 with tax. First off, the "large" pizza was the size of a "small" pizza (I'd say 12"-14" - should have probably gone for the extra large). Although nicely golden on the bottom, the dough was thick and a little chewy for my taste. There was also barely any sauce, which could have really helped cut through the heaviness of the dough and cheese. The peppers and onions were diced, and barely cooked through - it's not my style, but maybe you like it that way. In conclusion, it was alright I guess. Pizza is seldom inedible. I was hungry, and now I'm full. Would I go back? I wouldn't volunteer the idea. I would more likely begrudgingly spend way too much money somewhere else. read more

Placed an order through GrubHub.. took an hour and a half to deliver a grilled cheese, onion rings and mozzarella sticks. ETA was initially 40 minutes. Not only was everything ice cold (none of these items reheat well) but everything was bland and flavorless. The sandwich bread was so soggy I had to throw it out. As a NoLibs resident, I'm always looking for a decent, more traditional pizza place as an alternative to Rustica. I called George's and the counter person hung up on me (probably accidental), so I ordered a pizza and two liter Ginger Ale online. The delivery driver showed up 70 minutes after I placed the order with a room temperature, soggy pizza and a two liter of Orange soda. The staff was rude and unapologetic when I received my food- cold. What am I even paying for again? These people clearly know nothing about customer service, or how to make pizza. I was biking home past George's Pizza last summer and the owner's wife cardoored me during thick traffic. Thankfully I was wearing my helmet and biking safely, though this was enough for George himself to aggressively, loudly, threaten reporting me to the police for damages to his vehicle. Meanwhile, my own bicycle was left destroyed to the point that I was not able to ride it home, my head was freshly foggy from the collision, I'm bleeding from my neck and arms, and had just finished struggling to drag myself and my bike safely onto the sidewalk, with no help from the shop owners. Just having been impacted by a car, I was in no condition to defend myself, or justifiably ask for any financial compensation for my totalled bike and medical expenses. The owners should know by now that they must look before routinely opening their door on Girard Ave to make daily pizza deliveries. It shocks and disgusts me that people can be so cruel to strangers and my sympathy goes out to other bikers who are forced to accept this reality. I've lived a few blocks away from this shop for years and never had a reason to stop in, though now I certainly have a reason to warn all prospective customers away from engaging with these selfish, money hungry creeps. A second later, and I would have been crushed by the car behind me, though somehow a scratch to George's delivery vehicle is more valuable than my life and health. I do not support this establishment or it's management. They are a negative impact on the community and do not benefit their neighbors. Do not give George's Pizza your time or money. read more

I love the pizza, cheese fries, and special steak stromboli from here. The special steak stromboli is honestly the best stromboli I've ever had with its mix of mushroom, pepperoni, steak (obviously), cheese, etc. All together its very yummy and fattening but you don't eat stromboli when you are looking to lose weight. The pizza dough tends to be a little soft which is how I like it. Its not like a hard piece of wood which is what I've gotten in a couple other places. I like the cheese fries to be a little more crispy but they are still good and every person I shared an order with loved the cheese fries. I like that you can order from grubhub and don't have to talk on the phone when you order from here, but they need to add some options on there. They are missing the option to put toppings on the left side and then the right for the pizza and you can't order a pepsi unless you specify it in the 'special instructions'. Other than those technical difficulties I love this place. Also, their chicken quesadillas are delicious. read more
