Used to love it but got wicked sick there from the clams. The ice cream frappes would be the only thing id go back for. Avoid the clams!

We enjoy coming here. It's cash only and we never have cash so we always have to somewhat plan our trip. They do have an ATM though. We like that we are able to bring the doggo with us. Food and portions have always been good. Usually have to wait 5-10 minutes for our order but what's great takes time! I like that there's the picnic area where people serve you as well. I love this place. It has a great atmosphere with nice outdoor seating. There's a play area for the kids so they can run around when they've finished eating while the adults can have a conversation in peace. The food is excellent. I always end up eating more than I should. read more

Just ordered a lobster roll, for almost $13, I got a plain, not grilled hot roll with about half the roll in lobster meat that was clearly not freshly made. I have had so much better elsewhere for less money and it comes with coleslaw and fries. The clam cakes were very doughy inside, almost the consistency of being under cooked. Not impressed, taking my seafood craving elsewhere. Originally lived on the ocean, hard to compete with that quality so far from the water I guess. read more

Huge disappointment. I remember the days when it was the Redwood and their quality is what I was expecting. Made a trip from Richmond, RI, believe it or not. The clams were the worst I have ever ever had. Waitress warned us the bellies were small..she didnt say non existant. Mostly unappealing batter with some clam strips thrown in. French fries were the frozen variety I am sure. Onion rings were ok not great.. Shrimp was just ok also. Way over priced for what we got. Didnt even eat the $23 clams.. Will never be back. read more

George's has good ice cream (if it's even theirs) and bad fried food. The oil is old and the batter extremely salty (especially for the scallops). Drive closer to the ocean where people know how to prepare seafood and go where it's fresh. Seafood in Mendon is likely not going to be super fresh. Go for the ice cream only! read more

This place is the greatest!! Their food is always amazing and they are not over priced by any means. The most you ever have to wait once you order is 15 mins which is very reasonable. My boyfirend and I try to go at least once a week it's a new tradition we started this year. The clam cakes and clam strips are to die for. Horrible service. They missed an item from my order. I didn't realize until I returned home. I called and they were unapologetic and rude. The food was mediocre at best. The seafood platter included two shrimp, two clams, and a whole lot of haddock. The fries were re-heated, frozen fries, as evidenced by the take-out box. The icing on the cake was a clam shell in a fritter that nearly broke my tooth. Not worth the money, hassle, or indigestion. Stay away from this place! read more

The only reason I did not give this restaurant 5 stars is because this is the first time I have been. My wife and I ate here on Saturday, 9/12. We both ordered whole belly fried clams. I had the roll and she had just the clams. The clams were delicious, the portion sizes were very good and the price was reasonable. Clams are no longer inexpensive and George's is charging prices similar to other places. We also tried the fried mushrooms with a blue cheese dipping sauce. Delicious. None of the fried food was greasy. They are seasonal so I will have to wait until next year to come back. I would highly recommend this restaurant! read more

Love coming here in the summer for fried seafood but I noticed the food is too greasy this year. Prices have gotten higher with portions getting smaller from past years. The staff are very pleasant. They have specials, burgers and ice cream. You can eat at their many tables, eat in your car or bring home. After May they have car hop service in their huge parking lot. read more

Went here this past weekend with visiting family that is nostalgic about this place. They all enjoyed their fried scallops, fish plate, onion rings, fries, etc. I, on the other hand, am not a person who eats fried food. I checked out the menu online before going, so I knew there really wasn't anything for me. I tried the cup of Manhattan clam chowder, and have to say that I was not impressed. There was very little in the soup. I also had the cole slaw, which tasted like cole slaw. It seems very pricey for what each person got. The waitress was friendly and the food came out relatively quickly. Unfortunately, this is not a place I see myself returning, just due to the lack of healthier options. read more

Been coming here since I was a teenager and it was known as The Redwood. Excellent Clam plate and seafood platter, love the Onion Rings. Got to eat outside or in your car but I don't mind cause the food is tasty and good quality. Service is sometimes slow but they let you know how long they anticipate your order will take but most of the time your food is served in a timely fashion. Wait staff is pleasant, overall great place if you want a casual outdoor meal and you want some nostalgia like I do every time I come. Try it you might like it. read more

I've been eating at this restaurant since high school. I love it. The fried clams are one-of-a-kind. The bay scallops are so sweet and tasty. I usually get the seafood platter because I like the variety even though there's no way for one person to eat it all. We've gone here a number of times since 2002. I have to say that the quality has declined, the quantity of seafood dropped and the prices and grease content have increased greatly. $24 for a seafood platter that is two thirds frozen french fries is very steep for a take out place. I can get comparable or lower prices for better food at local full service restaurants. I don't like the haddock they use, tiny pieces. The fried sea scallops and shrimp are ok, but the quantity served has dropped. We stopped going there this past spring and doubt we'll go back. read more

I always look forward to this place opening up for the season. Check out the special board. If fried mushrooms are on it then you need to try these with blue cheese dipping sauce. They are the meatiest tasting fried mushrooms ever. The small order of onion rings is huge. They are thin and battered and can't be beat. Either variety of scallops are a good bet. I frequently get the fish only. It's two good sized pieces of fish. Since this is a seasonal roadside place there is also plenty of ice cream treats to choose from. Walk up to the window and order or you can sit in the car and flash your lights and someone will come out to take your order. There are plenty of picnic tables out front and in back. They do not accept credit/debit cards directly but there is an ATM there. read more

Just left George's Surf N Turf (Sat., July 19 at 6:00 PM check number 0068) with my family after a dreadful experience. After ordering several fried seafood plates, I then ordered some baked haddock, not exactly on the menu. Shouldn't be a problem for this seafood place, right? Wrong. Not only did they completely obliterate the "baked" haddock into chopped little pieces, the female shift manager became indignant when I objected to the size, shape, and visual of the meal. She demanded I return the mashed-up haddock plate before returning my money, and she NEVER APOLOGIZED. Don't visit this disgusting roadside dump if you're ordering anything baked or grilled. They'll screw it up, and then treat you like a thief if you object. Fried only for this filthy and overpriced dive. (PS: The odors coming from the rear of their run-down structure suggest the food prep. and kitchen areas are extremely unclean. Calling Mendon's Health Dept. Monday morning for a "surprise" inspection.) read more
