Brought car in for new transmission. not even out of warranty, via time, transmission goes out. They say, bring it in again, and try to charge us 13k for a new transmission and cat after only running the codes, they didn't even drive it. I'm a mechanic, and when I tell you this was the most incompetent shop I have ever seen. then After saying the diag would be free the had the audacity to say, the diag would 166.00.... to run codes they didn't even verify through driving the vehicle ( because the brake lights where out they said ). read more

After hearing nothing for hours, I called and was told they "didn't have the correct information" and that I had to call around to figure it out. No one ever contacted me. When I went to pick it up at 3, five hours later, they hadn't even touched the car. Complete waste of time and very poor communication. Unnecessary Repair Cost My son's vehicle would sometimes throw a transmission over temperature warning, so he took it in for an estimate. Over $5,000 for a replacement transmission was quoted. One of the symptoms quoted was burnt fluid. He brought it to my house and I noticed the fluid was red, translucent, and did not smell burnt. My curiosity piqued, I dropped the pan and found no debris beyond normal light metal silt. A bit of online research revealed that this model was prone to solenoid valve failures that create these error codes. It took $500 of parts, and a lot of amateur labor hours, but it's now running like a champ. Shame on you Interstate for being so predatory. I don't see how this could be an honest mistake. A bill of that size is the difference between many people driving or walking! read more

The staff was friendly and courteous. They quickly and properly diagnosed the problem and quoted me a very fair price. I had the good fortune to find these guys on Yelp, we were new to the area still waiting for the house to close, my beautiful wife's truck had stating issues. So we took it the GIT, they had it for a couple days,but couldn't find anything wrong with it. A few days later she broke down on the off ramp in the freezing cold and was towed to GIT. Six hundred bucks for a new alternator. Well anyway, she was ready to go. And I gotta say it was perfect timing. She's a 4x4 and worked well during the Great Texas Freeze. So it's been bittersweet for us, we are grateful for GIT and the guys there for a speedy repair. I also had to get a new starter for my truck A couple weeks later. I called in advance and was politely told they are first come first serve and there was one other person ahead of me. So I drove down and checked in and they came out checked me in and within 30 mins of me checking in my inspection was done and I was on my way. I have had my car serviced here and it's always been beyond my expectations, which are high. So when my 85 yr old friend came to me for help with his 14 yr old car transmission problem, I told him about Brandon and his crew at Geo Interstate. He brought his car there and Brandon + crew diagnosed the problem and he diligently went through the internet universe and finally found the part that was dysfunctional and replaced it to where Art's car is back to normal and running great. You and I know about ALL the tranny places that take advantage of so many because the Tranny is so complex, and to find AGAIN this HONEST establishment for repairing cars and charging only what they need to make a profit for themselves and not BILK you out of corruptive charges, I urge you to go here. Terrible service. Brought my vehicle in for a steering column replacement and ended up needing a $4000 transmission on a vehicle that worked perfectly fine prior to visiting the shop. They did not properly fix my vehicle and refuse to fix it properly. The parts they use were used and worn and done and does not function properly and they will not fix it. They called the cops on me and tried to have me arrested but it didn't work. Then the manager Hector had his store associates who were not involved in the conversation at all post bad reviews on my business about customer service. These folks never even used my service to try and criticize it like they did. Please be aware!!! Especially if you don't have $4000 to piss off!!! read more

I took my vehicle there for an oil change. The work seemed to be done properly, and the price was about the same as other places. But, the appointment had been made earlier, and I was promised that I could get the car back in 90 minutes (I had something to do nearby). It actually took almost 3 hours, nearly twice as long as promised. Would be a 4 star review if I hadn't had to waste more than an extra hour waiting. read more

I have used Georgetown Interstate for oil changes with no problem over the past few years. Always found them friendly and good to deal with. However, on my last visit in July for oil change, I asked if they could help resolve my front window on driver's side. Oh yes, not a problem was the response from Brandon who likes to call everyone brother, no problem. My car has 130,000 miles on it so have a car Shield Policy I paid approximately $852.00 per yr. I've had no previous claims to Car Shield. Bottom line, it took Brandon more than 2 weeks to make contact with Car Shield. On the 3rd week, in a conversation with the Mgr. Hector Tafoya, in absence of Brandon, Hector informed me his "high paid Tch" determined I needed to replace the window controller and the motor, Hector was confident of his High Paid Tech as he called him. The cost to me with Car Shield supposedly paying a portion of the claim, to me it would cost me $750.00 or so. So once Brandon got back from vacation, he was going to call me to setup a service appt. per text message I received. But after waiting another 2 weeks after Brandon's return and with no call from Brandon, I decided to take it to Toyota in Cedar Park who determined, quickly, the problem with the window was simply one (1) missing screw in the window assembly, that's it. Again, just a missing screw in window assembly, so much for your "High Paid Tech" Hector of Georgetown Interstate. So bottom line, Hector and his crew were fixing to screw me for $750 + for a missing window control screw. I will Never return, nor will I ever refer anyone to this business, and I have referred several in the past but no more. read more

My co-worker highly recommended Gtown ITAP and I figured I'd give them a try. Wow and Wow!! I've finally found a shop where i'm comfortable bringing my Mustang. Gene (manager) was very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. I'm a car guy and most service shops annoy the piss out of me cos they barely know anything about cars. Not the case here!! Gene knew about the correct fluids for my Mustang and a few other things most repair shops would be clueless about. Gene knows his cars and how to repair them, that's rare!! I got there about 11 am and Gene had an available tech ready to change out my transmission fluid. He said it would take an hour, so i said I'd just have my coworker pick me up. And, to my surprise Gene offered one of his techs -- who wasn't busy at the time -- drive me back to work!! Granted, I only work a few blocks away and the tech wasn't busy at the time, but no other shop would offer that!! Interstate Trans & Auto is awesome. So this is my THIRD update on this place, and, if possible, they just keep getting better! They know they have a lifer customer in me, and yet they never just "phone it in." They work really hard every time, and I so appreciate their talent and attention and consideration. This time my 2003 Accord key stopped turning in the ignition, had to have the excellent Tip Tow (see my glowing review) haul me into the shop (well, not me, my car, haha). At first they thought it would need a whole new ignition, which i figured. I mean, car is old. And I agreed to the job, even though it's kind of a big job. The car is worth it to me. A couple hours later Bruce called me (hey, Bruce! you're awesome!) to let me know that they figured out how to repair the ignition rather than buy a new one, and I'd only be paying a fraction of the original estimate b/c they wouldn't need to buy the part. Now who does that??? Ethical people who care about their customers, that's who! A biz with integrity who clearly has roots here, and is more interested in people coming back over the years than with trying to make a quick buck. I had already agreed to the bigger job, and yet they found a way to trim my invoice way down AND get my car back to me the same day (we would've had to wait till Monday to get the part if it was a replacement). I can't say enough good things about this place. I absolutely love having an auto repair shop I can count on and trust....every time. Yay and THANK YOU!!!! You most often discover the true nature of people and/or companies when something goes wrong. To that... after having my rear-end differential replaced at Georgetown Interstate Transmission & Auto Repair, a bearing suddenly failed within a few days (manufacture defect, not the shop's mistake) while I was driving during the early morning hours on a Saturday leaving the car inoperable. I called the shop at 3 am assuming they would provide an after-hours message to include towing information; they did. I did not leave a voice mail message but at 7:30 am the next morning (a Sunday) the owner, Jim Bob, called me saying he had a missed call from my number and was concerned. After a brief discussion about the vehicle, for which he was genuinely apologetic. As a result of the bearing failure additional repairs were needed to the vehicle. Not only did Georgetown Interstate Transmission & Auto Repair completely replace/repair the rear-end differential (again) they also bore the cost of the towing charges and the extra repairs needed. None of those extra costs were incurred as a result of their fault, rather, it was simply a part default. However, they took responsibility and that say's a lot about integrity and also, taking care of your customers. I highly recommend Georgetown Interstate Transmission & Auto Repair. read more

These guys are amazing! I had multiple issues with my Traverse, the vehicle was not giving any codes nor was the check engine light coming on. When driving the vehicle it was shaking like I had bad tires but the tires were fine! These guys took the time to ride with me with the computer to identify the issues. They diagnosed the issues, ordered the parts and had it repaired by 5pm the next day! These guys rock! read more

I do not recommend this place for an inspection for license plate renewal as it takes way too long. I got there at 7:15 (1st when opened at 7:30) but inspection completed at 9:42. This is not prompt turnaround as noted on website. Plus Hector was rude to me when I checked in and later when I asked for update. read more

The starter on my 94 Mustang died and they had a new one installed quickly and reasonably priced. Super nice staff and owner. They'll even pick you pick up to get your car when it's done. Great company to work with!! Had an AC vent motor problem with our Lincoln, took it in and Gene was very helpful, give us a quote and started working on the problem right away. Unfortunately, the issue was a lot more complicated and the cost to repair soared to almost 4 time the original estimate. After a day of them trying to figure out if there's a way to do the job at a lower cost, it was impossible due to the location of the bad motor will cost hours and hours of labor to remove. Most mechanic shops will probably punt at this point and try to provide some made up story to keep the job and get some money from the customer (since they already invested several man hours on it). Not these guys... Gene was very honest and straight up, offered to put everything back together and just call it a day. VERY impressed with their business ethics and honesty. They just gained a loyal customer and an advocate. We will definitely tell others to go there if they want an honest mechanic to work on their car!! read more

My family moved here about 3 years ago we have brought al 3 vehicles to Georgetown interstate and up until recently we have been happy customers. I'm not sure if it's cause of it's recent new front desk people or the owners being out of the office more but they're not as friendly or accommodating. I don't feel they are consistent in their work and that's not comforting as a customer. No ownership by the technician in our recent visits, he wouldn't own up to the fact he did our inspection last year. Just a bunch of nonsense. Along with the enviorbment in the Twice I have sat in the office waiting and the front desk man has made comments about being frustrated with customer calls. My husband and I have discussed this and we are searching for a new place to take our vehicles. read more
