Wanted a good Italian meal before heading out from St. Simon's tomorrow and Nazzaro's popped up on the radar. Made reservations and was looking forward to a good meal. Arrived on time and was pretty quickly seated but place is your usual strip mall environment. Probably was ten minutes before anyone stopped by our table. We ordered drinks which came rather quickly along with bread and oil, maybe the best thing I ate tonight, and placed our dinner order. We waited.... and waited.... and after 45 minutes of not even seeing our waitress or even getting our salads, we asked the hostess what was going on. She went and found our waitress who came to the table saying the kitchen said not to bring them out yet. Huh?!? Was another ten minutes before we got the salads, over an hour down just to reach this point. Didn't feel like finding another place to eat, but came close. Meals finally came and presentation was okay, not great, but after over an hour we expected it to look like Gordan Ramsay prepared it. Not so lucky, looked rushed and just plopped on the plates. Chicken Picata was okay, but my Shrimp Provencale was bland. Shrimp tasted like they were frozen shrimp, boiled and served with no seasoning at all. Noodles were also bland, didn't get much down. Size was good, but nothing to write home about and was there for well over 1-1/2 hours. Now as far as the environment, this is definitely a local's hangout. An older crowd but regardless of that, they all knew each other and seemed to not be there to eat but to socialize.... LOUDLY. A non-stop barrage of LOUD chatter made it less than comforting, and I literally mean non-stop. I think we knew the local news about people as much as anyone as there was no volume control on the customers. Couldn't wait to exit and we'll be back to St. Simon's but we won't be back to Nazzaro's.

First time here for my bday and Ms. Robin made it really special for me. The Service was on point including the host and bartender. The food was great from drinks to appetizer to dessert! I highly recommend this place and Ms. Robin as your server! She was extremely sweet! And I'm definitely coming back =)

    "Chicken piccatta"! Nope.

This is the second version of my chicken piccata. My previous three visits have been great. Something major has changed . Manager is still great. Obviously, chef is NOT.

Great Italian on SSI. You could easily be in any good red sauce joint in New Jersey - very fresh, tasty and great service. Enjoy!

    Is Nazzaros closed?

No, It is open all year long.

How difficult would it be to accommodate gluten free & dairy free?

They have gluten free pasta. As for dairy free I suggest ordering something tomato based sauce or fish or steak.

The Havarti grilled cheese sandwich was also a hit. Handhelds were priced $15-20. And the entrees were $20+. Highly recommended this restaurant and bar. The store is a plus to the dine.

We sat at the bar but learned the Tuesday special was a flight of three bartender choice wines 2 oz pours for $15. Evidently the Wine tasting thing was not current. We've seen many restaurants don't update their web site so it's always a gamble when you show up. Not sure if it was an open table thing or the restaurant. Either way we enjoy wine so my wife ordered a red flight and I ordered a $6 happy hour Italian Pinot Noir. The Pinot was fine and decent pour and my wife sampled the flight. One of the wines was a little off and we both thought it may have soured. She mentioned it to the bartender and he shrugged it off and said it wasn't an old bottle. Mentioned it again and no big deal. Might have been nice to at least offer something else. I'd recommend ordering a glass of what you like rather than waste the $15. For dinner I wanted to try the seared pork ribeye but they were out of stock so I settled for the short rib sandwich on ciabatta bread. My wife ordered the beet and goat cheese salad which she enjoyed and thought was fine. The short rib sandwich was tasty enough but the bread was soft like it came out of a plastic bag. I was hoping for a better quality bread which is important for a sandwich. It wasn't something I would order again. Overall it's a really quaint place with isles of olive oil and items to purchase but the experience was a 2.0 and the food average 3.0 at best. I really expected a bit more especially from the look and feel of the place. Not sure I could get around to wanting to go back to try anything else on the menu. Bartender was nice but overall just not a good experience after a long day of work. I feel bad to leave an unsatisfactory score but I upped my 2.0 to 3.0 as ratings are important and it's probably at least a 3.0.

We arrived for an early dinner and we're greeted by the hostess and bartender. Everyone was very welcoming and they offered us seating anywhere in the bar area. Even though we didn't have a reservation, we were offered seating in the dining room. Once we were seated, we ordered wine and the Apple, Pecan, and goat cheese salad (split in two plates). The server brought us both a very nice portion and we thoroughly enjoyed the salad as it was fresh and very tasty. My wife ordered the Shrimp and Grits which they are known for as being notable and I ordered the Seafood Pot Pie. The shrimp and grits were excellent with a heap of blackened shrimp over a flavorful Gouda course grits. The shrimp were cooked just right. The seafood pot pie had the blue crab bisque as the base and loaded with shrimp, white fish, salmon, and small scallops. It was topped with a puffed pastry square. The pot pie was also an excellent dish that I would definitely recommend. Next time I may come back for the crab bisque as an appetizer. This is a very nice place, with great atmosphere, and very friendly service. I would give it a 5.0 and recommend you try it.

The 3-star rating refers to my opinion that they would not be worth $4 each (versus buy one get one free on their Tuesday promotion) and the service was disappointing. While both the barkeep and the waitress were at max capacity to manage a room full of patrons with a plethora of dining and drink orders, I don't remember a single time we were asked to refill our glasses or how we liked our cuisine. It's the little things, after all. The taco's were in the 2-3 bite range, each being carefully made to order. I was particularly fond of the georgia new york strip steak, paired with chimichurri sauce. The corn tortillas were doubled up and toasted just right to not get too soggy. Another hit was the duck confit carnitas with salsa verde. Very approachable portions and the flavors paired well together. If you're looking for happy hour snacks, I'd recommend 3-4 tacos, a little more if you're seeking to fill your stomach.
