I love this place! Shortly after my pet raccoon died, I was devastated. Long months of watching Dr. Phil and General Hospital finally pulled me out of the pit of despair. My ex wife told me to just try something new... Something to get my mind of my lost beloved companion (not her obviously). Inspired, I stumbled upon Gepettos on a toasty summer afternoon. The Tuscan Sausage pizza was wonderful! The crust was not too thin and not too thick, just right! The toppings on this thing makes me blush just thinking about it! :) The olive oil, capers, and lemon juice just rally pops the senses. Then we have the sausage, black olives, and green onions to say whats up to the aforementioned sauce mixture. By now the salivary glands have awoken to announce that maybe, just maybe, FLAVOR TOWN HAS BEEN REACHED. Then, showing up to the party is our boy Provolone. Now, I usually shy away from provolone on my sandwiches. However, with these ingredients I can't help but give in to the sensory experience taking place. 10/10. read more

We stopped there once on our way to Canada. My husband and I still have a running joke about how this was the worst restaurant we'd ever been to and it's still #1 on our list. Between the container of stale who knows how long they've been sitting there breadsticks, frozen & nuked lasagna, tortellini soup that consisted of little more than a reconstituted chicken bullion cube and 3 frozen tortellini, and the frozen sara lee dessert, it was a bounty of really bad food. Can't believe this place is still open. I only hope things have greatly improved. read more

i used to think they were good until i went on my birthday and specifically told the waitress to make sure my drink wasn't strawberry because i was allergic and its a good thing I'm not deathly allergic because it was and so I spent my birthday very sick as well as all my friends who got sick from the food read more

I read the other reviews and it's interesting how diverse everyone's experience was. We were just down the street at one of my Son's high school baseball games and we were in the mood for Italian. When we first drove up it looked like a bar and when we first walked in all we saw was the walk up pizza order. We didn't think we were going to stay but we both had to go to the bathroom so we walked to the back and saw there was a very cute and cozy restaurant. We had a great waitress that was super nice and we love our food. I had the manicotti and my wife had the ravioli (I'm positive it was hand made.) We will go back. read more

I have been enjoying their stuffed pizza for almost 30 years, it is so yummy! I enjoy their thin crust as well, but when I want to splurge and indulge, it's the stuffed pizza that I always choose. It's a family favorite and it is quite filling. I have tried other menu items and they were also good, but the pizza is why I have been going there for so many years. I absolutely love this place; it is the absolute opposite of the tiresomely pretentious Italian bistros that are thankfully past the peak of their trendiness. It is warm, comforting & intimate to come in here; the staff is so friendly, welcoming & helpful I always feel a warm glow upon arriving. My favourite dish is the three-cheese manicotti; I always try to get things you can't easily get anywhere else or make at home. And they have the old-style water tumblerful of breadsticks I remember with fondness from childhood. I brought a friend who was puzzled when I told her about the breadsticks, and on our third glassful, she said, "They're like crack". My husband always orders either a calzone or the lasagna, and he always winds up with a hearty enough portion he takes home lunch the next day. I've never been in the bar, I've never ordered pizza to go from there, so I can't comment on those aspects; but they aren't why I come in. I love good old-fashioned cozy restaurants with ambience; I want to feel like I'm inside a house, not gawking out a window onto a mall sidewalk watching people amble by and stare back. Geppetto's is wonderful for that kind of cozy, low-stress dining experience. read more

The ONLY place we go for pizza in Oregon! yes, its real Chicago taste pizza. Not that deep dish crap most people think people from Chicago eat. ( most people in chi-town dislike deep dish go figure.) The thin crust is our fav , any toppings work since they are all fresh and cooked right. (no undone white cheese here) The salads are fresh and crispy and the artichoke bruschetta appetizer is awesome. The atmosphere is nice. Its been recently updated a bit and is a cozy old school pizza place. Most importantly its clean. You can see whos cooking your food yes, how's about you say "hello" when you come in I betcha they'd say it back! The staff has always been friendly and very attentive for us. We hope they stick around forever and we make the 50 min drive a couple of times a month because its THAT GOOD. Keep up the good work Geppetto's. :) read more

We went to Geppetto's on Valentine's Day and were impressed. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious! The antipasto was worth the price and the calzone was phenomenal! I will definitely go back. Having been to Italy several times, I was impressed with the flavors, not just tomato sauce and salt like many other "Italian" restaurants in town. From the outside I always thought it looked like a bit of a dive with the lottery sign out front with the smokers. However, the inside is really comfortable and quite nice. We will add this to our list of quality restaurants in Salem and plan to take the in-laws here. I already have recommended this place to several of my friends. read more

I wouldn't eat here again. The quality of food just didn't justify the prices. When I eat out I want to eat something I wouldn't be able to create at home and I just didn't get that here. Authentic Italian? I think NOT. The prices on the website and the prices on the receipt don't match at all! We ordered the lasagna lunch, the cannelloni lunch, and a calzone. The first 2 came with a salad, (we chose Caesar), AND they added an $8 service/delivery charge, PLUS the $6 tip we left for the delivery driver. Add all those differences in and we over paid for awful food by $17.75 (that doesn't include the $6 tip we left) They lasagna was supposed to be $7.25, they charged us $12 plus $2 for the salad that was supposed to come WITH it. The cannelloni was supposed to be $9.50, they charged us $11.50 plus another $2 for the salad, also supposed to be included. The calzone was supposed to be $9.50 and they charged us $12.50, then add in the $8 service charge. The bread was NOT focaccia, as advertised, it was so dry, I could have washed dishes with it. You could clearly taste the very low quality sausage they used in the cannelloni, the lasagna was just ok. The Caesar salad dressing was not real deal either, but that comes as no surprise. I have zero doubt I'd blow this restaurant out of the water if they stepped foot in my kitchen. Will never go back or recommend. Truly awful read more

i've been here a handful of times over the years & never left a review. i've been underwhelmed each time. my husband was craving spaghetti so we went for dinner last night. we sat in the bar. pesto bruschetta was descent, although i've made better pesto at home. tortellini soup was bland broth with a few previously-frozen tortellini. dinner salad was iceberg lettuce with one slice of zucchini, a smal scoop of stale-tasting marinated carrots, four seasoned croutons. i asked for a balsalmic vinegarette with my salad & was given a plastic cup of straight balsalmic; no olive oil. had i known the soup was packaged tortellini, i wouldnt have ordered my combo meal with it. it came with a white sauce, but it didnt taste like alfredo; boring, bland, & not a hint of parmesan cheese flavor. my fettuccine had the same sauce, very dry chicken chunks, & mushrooms. my husband got the spaghetti & ravioli combo which came with a meat marinara sauce & a side of three meatballs. the sauce probably came from a jar. the meatballs were descent; they were seasoned & had a good texture. (again, i've made better at home.) dry, lightly-seasoned bread was served with our dinner; i took one bite & used water to help swallow it. (we never got the pretzel-like breadsticks our fellow diners got; maybe bc we ordered the bruschetta.) the portions were average. the service was ok; he was somewhat friendly but we only saw him when he was delivering something to us. he didnt check on us in-between. the drinks were strong. the atmosphere was ok in the bar; they have video poker but the volume was down/off & i never noticed any noise from the machines. the three tables by the VP machines were close together & we had friendly diners near us so we ended up talking. the booths in the bar may provide a little more privacy. the table next to us got pizza & it looked really good; the ate most of it. i wont be back for the pasta but i plan to go just to try the pizza. read more

This restaurant was so disappointing. I ordered the ravioli--the meat sauce was okay, but nothing I couldn't make at home. The raviolis tasted like they came from the grocery store freezer section. My husband ordered a sausage and pasta dish, which was decent, but again, nothing that couldn't be made at home easily and probably better. We also ordered the pesto bruschetta--the pesto tasted store bought and the bread wasn't even toasted. Our waitress was polite, but forgetful and appeared to be acting out scenes from Speed Racer--she was in such a rush that she'd startlingly pop over to our table or whiz buy every five minutes to ask how everything was, which was annoying and interrupted our conversation and meal more than was warranted. But the most offensive part of our meal was the price--$43 for lukewarm, mediocre food and small portion sizes. There was nothing about this meal that seemed authentic or even homemade--everything tasted store bought and from a can or a bag. I could have easily made everything we ordered better in my own home kitchen or gone to Olive Garden and gotten better tasting food for a better price. read more
