I'm a connoisseur of fine Mexican food and have been for years. I thought I would try this place. First the salsa was a little off, and I ordered a large queso and was surprised to see the size! It was in a 2 1/2 inch bowl! None of the recipes I tried tasted like authentic TeX-mex cuisine. I will not go there again, there are better Mexican restaurants in this area. read more

Had dinner here yesterday evening with a longtime friend I hadn't seen in forever. It was so great to catch up and get back in touch beyond social media and Tio Gordo's provided the perfect environment for us to do so. I give Tio Gordo's four stars for the excellent service and comfy no frills ambience. Our waitress, Ellie is super sweet and helpful. The nachos and dips were ok but a bit bland for my liking. My friend loved her burger and it looked delicious. She said that's her usual go-to dish. The tres leches cake with strawberries is delicious. So delicious I failed to get a pic. read more

I order the lunch fajitas, it was more the size of a kids meal, a 6 year old kid mind you. They were okay. Nothing special for the 3 oz portion size served. Ordered an ice tea with a side of lemons, they charged for the lemons got a refill when my drink was 1/3 gone. Waitress never came back, I wanted another refill after waiting 20mins some kid cleaned off my table, asked him for the refill. He said to go I said sure. They charged for a refill to go, I could have already drank that tea if the waitress came back, which she NEVER did. But was there at the register to take my money, how convenient. I'll never be back or recommend this place to anybody in the oilfield, I'll share my experience establishment. 1 rating for the hidden fees, bad service and portion size. read more

My husband and I decided to go to this place for dinner for our date night. Upon arriving we were greeted right away from the Staff and everyone was very friendly. Restaurant looked very clean and nice. I ordered a sweet tea (loved their sweet tea!!) and a drink from the bar called a Cinco de Mango and my husband ordered their Bloody Mary. I didn't know what drink to order because the menu didn't describe what the drink was, all it said was the name of the drink so I asked the waitress and she didn't know so she had to bring the bar tender to our table to tell us what the drink was. Although that was very nice of him to come to our table I found it inconvenient. I would've just wanted to see the description of the drink on the menu not just the name of the drink. But all in all the drink I decided to get was very tasty and my husbands Bloody Mary was very good as well. The same issue with the food menu, only the name of the plate but no description, I asked what sides the plate came with since there was no description of what the item was or what it came with (I ordered the steak tampiqueno) and the waitress didn't know. None of the food items had descriptions. It would've been easier to order if we new what some the items were but other than that the food was good. read more

Got in and immediately ordered our food. It is a counter service restaurant. I ordered the flautas and was amazed. I loved the refried. beans and the flautas were very flavorful. Underwhelmed! We live so close to this place so that's why we went but the portions are small and the food is bland! I am all for paying for good food but this is over priced for what you get by far. The Asado and chili verde both have a great sauce and the taste of sauce is good; however, the meat is either not tender or has too much fat and not Enough meat in the burritos. read more
