Our son's car was in need of a car front panel replacement. It took a.very long time to get the part in, which can happen with the current supply chain issues. But the communication was terrible throughout the process. Even when the part was in, it took a full week to repair after drop-off with little to no communication unless prompted with a call. Then, my wife picked up the car and when she got home we noticed the armrest was broken. Completely snapped it off while in the shop and nobody ever mentioned to us. Our son was days away from moving away so we gave up and will pay for and repair ourselves. Just went to fill out their customer survey and it had 1 Yes/Ni question then said Complete. After finally getting a family car back we found a hair in the paint. Took it back, they told us they would try to fix without having to repaint. Ended up having to get it repainted. We picked it up and found compound all over the car. Little white dots covered the roof inside the door jams, everywhere. They offered us a free cleaning but it looks like they wiped it down with sand paper. There are scratch marks and swirl marks everywhere. After having it repainted twice you'd think it would look new again. Would not recommend. read more

I used them out of convenience. Paint doesn't match, fender flare installed incorrectly twice, the oem quality bumper had rust on it in 3 months. They did swap the bumper with an oem one which was nice but dinged the other side of the bed installing it. The manager Art has horrible customer service skills. He seems to think bad work is normal and does not apologize for it, he told me that's what happens when humans touch something lol. I use the Gerber store in Elmhurst for work vehicles and have been happy with them. Long story short, don't use the Palatine location. They seem to be more concerned with making insurance companies happy than doing quality work. read more

I found this shop after someone hit my car and the insurance suggested this location. I am glad I found them! After a particularly unlucky two years (My car was hit three times in two years) I decided I would never take my car anywhere else for body work. To start, there is June. She coordinates everything at the front desk and is possibly one of the nicest and accomodating people you will ever meet. She understands that the reason she see's you is already a stressful situation and does her best to help you with a stress free repair. The guys who do the estimates are great as well. They are really good about explaining things in laymen terms (great for me because as a city boy, I know NOTHING about cars). The work is quality, they always do a great job and keep you up to date with repair progress. Unless they find more damage while doing the repair, they always have the car back in the time promised. There are probably multiple body shops between my house and Palatine, but I drive the hour from Chicago to get there because my car is the most expensive thing I own and I know the folks at Gerber will take care of my car and take care of me. read more

The NY Yankees should sign Father Winter to a 1-yr. deal, as he hit a piece of gravel dead center into my windshield, embedding its evil into the glass, while then orchestrating the most perfect "crack," which would run from one end of the windshield, to the other. Double checking that indeed, I did not have 'Replace Windshield,' on this week's list of things to do..I found myself in a quandry, as recently just moved to the area, I had no idea of where to find a repair shop. A well-known car wash/gas station was close at hand (i.e. Delta Sonic) at the time of Father Winter's dasteredly deed, so I stopped in to see if they could suggest a local repair shop. They referred me to Cars Collision Center, as to whom they work with in these circumstances. I called Cars the following morning and was pleasantly greeted on the phone. I was provided a quote and was able to schedule an appt. the following morning. They even texted me their address. With having to leave my car with them, I asked if someone would be able to take me back/forth from home, and they were very accomodating to do so (phew!). I was again greeted pleasantly at their office upon dropping off my fav car I've ever owned...upon pickup, they had also washed the interior/exterior, which I was very happy about (salt, 9 degree weather, and car washes do not play well together). When they do, it's great that there are places like Cars Collision to help you get your car repaired and riding smoothly again. I have been involved in two accidents in the past decade, both not my fault, both times the insured drivers were covered by State Farm Insurance, both times in the past 8 months, and both times I brought my car to this place. I learned about Cars Collision through State Farm Insurance, and I chose them as they were nearby my home and I found them to be friendly. When entering the facility you are greeted by a nice woman named June who is very friendly and explains the process for repair and facilitates estimates. June also has a rolodex of resources, such as car rental places and other contacts to help you along during the accident's recovery process. Each time I have had my car repaired, things were not 100%, but to their credit, they have recognized this and taken it upon themselves to repair and remedy until things were completed to satisfaction. For instance, my recent pickup, a repair from being merged into, one of the employees informed me that he wasn't pleased with the results of the repair (it was outsourced to a different location) and would be ordering new parts for the repair and would call to schedule another appointment. It's nice that they take pride in the final results of their work. Car repairs are never a fun project, but these guys do a good job. read more

I had to take my car in after getting rear-ended. They were fast to give me an estimate and schedule an appointment. Once my car was in the shop, I had email updates, and phone calls giving me progress. When more damage was found, and repairs needed to be authorized, they were quick to call and let me know about the additional time. They also sent me email copies of photos of the damage, and the estimates. It was very thorough service, and probably the happiest experience I've had at a body shop, given the circumstances. I'd definitely recommend them for not only their customer service and professionalism, but also their quality of work - my car is brand new again! read more

Thank you for fixing the chip on my windshield. I just wished they charged less for minuscule chips. Mine was barely there but still cost me $100. I have never been to a Cars Collision before, but after I was rear ended by a cab in Chicago, my insurance company recommended that I bring my car here. It seemed fine with me, and the entire staff seemed pretty reputable and nice. They kept me updated on my repair status and it seemed like everything was going to be fine. So why only two stars then? Well, my car was in their shop for repairs for two weeks, due to the fact that I needed an entirely new rear bumper as well as a new alternator and belt. They did the repairs themselves, and the day I went to pick it up, they SWORE that it was running perfectly and everything was fine. I was satisfied, so I handed them the keys to my rental car and drove off. About 3 miles away, I was driving on 53 North, when I noticed that my car was rapidly overheating (which had never happened before), and by the time I was able to pull over, there was smoke pouring from under the engine. I had it towed to a local Firestone and found out that there was another $1,100 in repairs that the body shop had somehow missed, including a new thermostat and a gasket that was leaking coolant. Now, if I didn't even make it 3 miles without the engine smoking, how on Earth did the body shop seem to think that it was running fine? Due to the holiday weekend, I haven't been able to get ahold of Cars Collision (this just happened on Friday), but I am extremely upset that they missed a problem that was apparently quite severe and should never have been overlooked. I'm sure other people have had better experiences than mine, but the way I see it, if you have my car for two weeks and you tell me that it's running great and that you tested everything, I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to break down 15 minutes later. To me, that's either poor workmanship or just laziness/ignorance of these kinds of issues. Regardless of whether or not this has happened to anyone else, I am completely furious at them right now and I will NEVER be going there again. read more

I had a seamless and excellent experience at this shop. I came here after being rear ended by an inattentive driver. I called my insurance company, they gave me Gerber as the option to repair my car and set up the rental for me. I dropped my car off for the estimate, and since I have been rear ended a few times, I decided to just leave the car and let them do the work after the estimate (its a pain, in my opinion, to wait for the estimate and take the car to a variety of places. What's the point when insurance pays for it?). Hertz was there within 20 minutes so I could get my rental. Managing the rental with car repairs can be a pain. You have to be diligent about being ready when your car is ready, and returning the rental immediately. It worked out perfectly for me. I thought the front desk staff at this location was really friendly and helpful. Their job cannot be easy; people are pissy when they are in car accidents. They kept me informed about everything going on with my car along the way. You can also sign up for text alerts, which I found to be helpful. My car was repaired nicely and I have nothing but nice things to say about this location. Also, I was originally going to go to the Arlington Heights location, but this one could get my work done faster. So, if you are trying to chose between locations, you may consider this one first. At the end of the day, they finished my car repair 5 days earlier than expected. It was great. read more

Cars Collision is a great place to have your car repaired should the misfortune of being in an accident befall you. The last time I went there, the body shop manager looked familiar to me. After I left, it dawned on me where I knew him from. He was a customer of a sporting goods retailer where I was a manager, and he was also the body shop manager of a car dealership where I had my '94 Dakota repaired. Anyway, I went back there right after getting my rental car from Enterprise just down the street and renewed the old acquaintanceship. Everyone else in the place was also very cordial, treating me like they really wanted my business. While my current vehicle was in the shop there, I was given occasional up-dates, as to where the job stood at the moment. A lot of other places do not do that. They did a very good job. I have a 2011 Lexus ES 350 I brought in to have both front and rear bumper work done from a minor rear end bump job and a semi mud flap that flew off hitting my Front bumper. I want to say the work was exceptional, but the really great thing was the little plug in the front bumper came out and was lost on two different occasions through no fault of theirs or mine . Both times they replaced it painting and clear coating it free of charge. To me customer service is what will keep me coming back to and referring to Gerber Collision and Glass. I highly recommend Gerber Collision & Glass at the Palatine location. Fortunately, or unfortunately I have used them 3 times in the last year and have been completely satisfied each time. The most recent time, this week, did not disappoint. The repairs were done early, the car looked beautiful and they even buffed out a scratched area. I have used both insurance and self pay and both were easy to use. The staff are qualified, competent and very nice to its customers. I really appreciate the relationship with Enterprise as each time I needed to rent a car. Doesn't get better than this! Just had a great experience with our technician Mark who came to repair a broken window on my car. Customer service technician on the phone was great as well. Make sure you call nice and early, otherwise the phone lines get jammed and you could be on the phone for half an hour at least. Gerber was by far a lower price compared to Safelite and the service was SO much better. Happy that I waited a couple days to stick with this company. read more

Very unprofessional and lazy. I can't verify for everyone at this shop, but from what I experienced I would stand in front of their door to turn people away. I came here because I was told I had to by the insurance company of the person who rear-ended me. At the estimate, Mark seemed great. Quick, professional and polite. I ended up getting the car fixed earlier than originally scheduled because my car was deemed unsafe to drive. However, Mark was out of town to do this. I had to travel out of the state for work that week, therefore, I was very considerate to check in on how my car was proceeding. I was not kept updated during the week of repair. When I called, each day, to check in on the eta - I was given a variety of answers. On Thursday morning, I called the shop and spoke to Alyssa, the front desk gal. She told me my car would not be ready until Tuesday. I confirmed The date and made sure I was able to keep the rental car until Tuesday. Since she said yes, I kept working out of state and made appointments for Friday. 4 hours later, I received a call from the insurance company, claiming that my car was finished that day and I needed to pick up my car within a day or I would be charged. I tried to explain I was told by the shop earlier that day the eta of Tuesday, I was now 5 hours away and could not possibly make it back to pick up the car. After the insurance company went back and forth with me and Alyssa with Gerber- they still refused to give me any lei-way on the rental car. I called Alyssa after the first call with the insurance company to confirm what she told me. Her excuse was that the system did not update. She did not apologize or take any responsibility for her actions with the insurance company. I was forced to take off work on Friday and drive home 5 hours Thursday night at midnight because of their laziness because I had to return the rental. When I did make it to pick up my car, Alyssa still held no responsibility or apologized for her actions. Then I had to ask 4 times for someone to walk me through what they fixed on my vehicle. All she did was pass along my receipt. Then ask vague questions to the back shop. I couldn't believe that their company's procedure was not to have a shop worker or manger walk a customer through their car after it's been worked on. Sorry this is so long but I was completely repulsed by how multiple people in the company acted. read more

About 6 months ago I was involved in my first "major" accident (bigger than a fender bender) --- my poor little Honda Civic ended up getting totaled. Gerber came recommended by my State Farm agent and I had started the process with them as they were close to where my car was towed from the accident and close to my apartment. I feel bad I can't remember the lady's name at the front desk that was helping me but she was so nice and comforting through the process. When I had called to let her know what was going on, she was the first person to stop me and ask me "Are you ok? Were you hurt?" The way she treated me felt like I was working with a family member. There was some delay in the process with some mis-communication with my insurance agent but other than that I think everything went pretty quick - I believe I had my estimated damages in about 4-5 business days from when I called them asking to have it towed there. While I'm hoping I'll never have to visit a repair shop again(!), if I do ever have to - I'll definitely be bringing it here. read more

I've gone to the one in buffalo grove for a long time and they heave always done great work. This time I decided to go a little closer and decided to check out the palatine office. I met with a nice gentleman who was very helpful he took the pictures and wrote up the report. He called me later that week to let me know when it would be done since a part needed to be ordered, and I was curious how they would get the dent out of my trunk door on my 4 runner. He also informed me he is going to a different shop and someone would call with more information when it gets closer to being done. Sure enough a nicer lady called and to my surprise it was ready earlier than we all expected. We went out to look at the work and I couldn't believe it the trunk looked like nothing had ever happened which blew me away since the dent was in an area where there was a slight curve. The bumper looked great. Sadly I'm embarrass hours the rest of it looks because the back end looks exactly like the day I bought it. I highly recommend them. read more

My name is Amy, I had to get a new bumper cover, I am going to explain everything in detail about my first time experience at this establishment. Usually replacing a bumper cover takes about 2 days to complete, but here at Gerber they got this done for me in the matter of 2.5 hours ! Their work is fast and efficient. Prior to the day of the car drop off, they already had my bumper cover painted and everything, so the day when I have to drop it off, all they had to do was simply replace the damaged one with the new one ! Patrick: He is the manager, and might I add a very helpful manager, He genuinely care about your needs and tries with his best ability to meet or exceed them. He is very patient too, I could not tell you how many times I called him to talk about more about my car haha. He is really nice and professional. Jim, June and Dana were wonderful to deal with - friendly, knowledgeable, courteous and professional. My van was in their shop for 5 days, and I received daily repair status updates via text messages. They provided me the estimated completion date at the very beginning, and the repairs were completed exactly on time...almost to the hour! My car was towed there and I couldn't be happier with the quality of work done on my car AND the timeliness! First and foremost, the face of this place is June!! I found Gerber as a suggestion through my insurance company when I was rear ended. I can't speak to price, but I can say that their customer service is awesome. They handled the rental car for me and communicated with me throughout the entire process. After a few hours of work, they called to update me on what had been found and when my car would be ready. I had time constraints as to when I could drop off and pick up my car, and they worked with me on that. More specifically, I wanted to make sure that I could drop off and pick up the car when it was being worked on so that my rental car would be covered fully. They made sure to finish when I could pick up my car so that I wouldn't have to hang on to the rental for a few extra days. I would highly recommend their services! read more
