I absolutely love this store. When ever I want to purchase Germack products, I try to wait until I can get here. They have the best prices and the best product selection. First, we are huge fans of their peanut butter. They make it fresh and grind it here. We always get the original, but the honey roasted, and the cinnamon are fantastic. Honestly, we just eat it off a spoon, no bread, crackers, or carbs necessary. I love their wasabi peanuts. They are crunchy with the right amount of spice. I do not always see them here, but when I do I get at least one container. They have some of the best trail mix and nut mixes. I also love how they have the small adorable sizes along with the bigger portions. They come up with such interested flavor combos. They sell these containers on QVC, but I come here to buy them in person. Their sweet and their savory flavors have all been winners. The S'more mix is one of the best. Got some dark chocolate malted milk balls. Yum! While the name implies pistachios, they also have almonds, peanuts, etc. A small store in the Eastern Market area, clean and well laid out. Peanuts by the bag, with your favorite local team's name and logo on the label. I saw Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, MSU and U of M peanuts. Hmm....don't really know what to say. Kind of an uptight place I feel I must say. It's nice, clean, but seems kind of empty and expensive. It's like an art exhibt for nuts and dried fruits, not necessarily a store. Very quiet, you walk around and things are displayed, but just seems like fancy do not touch, do not make noise kind of place. I did get some cashews, but their prices are somewhat high. I asked the girl at the register a question about walnuts, she didn't know the answer. My friend asked her a question about pumpkin seeds, she didn't know the answer. Though a customer next to us did, and explained it to my friend. Plus one door is for tea, coffee, etc, then you have to go outside, and to the next door for nuts, fruits etc.....who thought of that setup? I don't even like pistachios, but I like this company. Why? Well, they've expanded far beyond their pistachio origins. I'm a big lovers of snacks, and I'm a little picky about snack mixes. Classic home-made Chex mix is tasty -- store bought Chex mix just doesn't do it for me. I've tried a variety of Germack's snack mixes, and been fairly impressed. My two favorites, though, aren't totally nut-centric (as you might expect from a pistachio company). I dig both the cajun mix as well as the honey BBQ. Who knew that the red dye was used as a sales gimmick because it covered imperfections on the less-pretty shells so as to appeal to customers! Germack also supplies the peanuts for the Tigers at Comerica Park and they are great. Salted right and roasted to perfection, you have to get them when you go to the ball park! They also make a cherry-berry nut mix that is a great addition to any Michigan-made gift basket you want to make. I purchased my favorie, the sesame sticks. Ever since then, I'd been wanting more. I was at a store who had Germack produts, but didn't have the sesame sticks. So, on a warm, sunny Saturday, I decided to ride out to the Eastern Market and hit Germack's. I like the new store. It's laid out nicely, with signs pointing you to the types of items, helping guide your shopping experience. There was a table of samples, which was nice. There are a lot of products and a great variety of snacks. They really have something for everyone. I was in and out rather quickly, after picking up a couple of bags of sesame sticks. Germack makes some of my all-time favorite snacks. I recently moved to Seattle, but I make sure to keep my apartment stocked with Germack Mix at all times. Every other mix I've tried has also been good, most recently the Motown Mix (which I got at Whole Foods). They also sell some kickass nut butters, dried fruits, chocolates, and tons of other products. The shop itself is small and a little awkward. The music is always on too quiet, and you can't talk without feeling like you're being listened in on by the single employee behind the counter (or maybe that's just me). Whenever I visit the Saturday market at Eastern Market, I always swing by Germacks and pick up a variety of items - my favorites are their Pistachios and Almonds. Pros: + Very good prices (cheaper than Whole Foods and Target) + Tastes amazing + HUGE variety, and for the health nuts (no puns attended) they offer both salted and unsalted flavors + Long local history * Note: I know Red Pistachios are their "thing" but I wouldn't recommend it. my husband has ordered their products from qvc many times with no issues. My son said we should order directly from the company because they get 100% of the profit and thats how we support small business. So we ordered our usual products. The christmas blend looked like to got stuck in the machine , it was all mangled. I called the company and they said they would refund that item. I was told id receive an email which I never received. That night we opened the halloween one , boolicious with pretzels and we noticed a white film on the chocolate pretzels. I emailed the company with no response. So 2 containers in the trash now. We open the other halloween one monster mash with peanut butter cups , The only issue here is the majority of the cashews are broken and the cranberries are small and hard. they are usually plump. I finally message on FB and they ask for photos. Well had they asked in the beginning I would of been happy to but wasnt asked to save the containers so they went in the trash. So 55.00 down the drain. Im so disappointed.If I wanted bits and pieces or dried out cranberries I could go to my neighborhood drug store and spend far far less. Im sad I have to write this review but also disappointed in how they dealt with the situation. read more

Today I sampled the honey roasted peanut butter, and it was delicious. Normally I don't like homemade or freshly made peanut butters, but this was so tasty. It was $3.99 for a good size, and I think it's worth the money. I also got a small box of chocolate covered peanut brittle that was on sale for $2 instead of $3.70. I don't like peanut brittle very much, but this was so good! I might not pay full price, but for fresh treats, it was definitely worth $2. I came here for my morning coffee during a weekend away with my girlfriend . The cashier told me I could have my cappuccino in a mug to enjoy inside . Instead I received it in a paper cup and it wasn't really an enjoyable experience as I hate the taste of paper in my coffee. When I asked the barista about it she told me there was no bus person to wash them so I couldn't have a mug. Her attitude was distasteful and now I don't care to ever return here. My girlfriend ordered an iced cardamom clove and for the ice to be removed. The barista forgot to remove the ice and when she returned it to have the ice removed she added more milk and the drink became less than desirable with the excess milk read more

Holy Pistachios Batman. Germack has moved from across the overpass to occupy a huge storefront where my beloved Rafal Spice used to reside. They have the nut store through one door, and 2 doors down the actual nut store. I got confused for a brief moment when I walked in to the coffee/tea side and saw only one bag of Germack nuts on the shelf. Once I picked up a 5# bag of Deluxe Fancy Nuts no peanuts for my Dad, I began looking at all the pistachio varieties as well. In the nut store they have wonderful baskets all made up of goodies. They have some Sanders candies in there as well, and who could go wrong with those? I picked up some shortbread samples on the tea side, which were excellent. I forgive them for taking over the ghost of Rafal. It's nice to see them in the middle of all the market action. read more

Nuts? Sure we all know the greatest around but coffee too? Yes! A great coffee bar on the north side. Even a regular dark roast black (NO sweetener/cream) was very smooth, very rich.
