    The best cheddar popcorn EVER
    Deanna D.

I couldn't wait to stop by here. I love all their products. I like the variety and the seasonal combinations are creative as well. I stock up on the popcorn they sell from Motor City popcorn also. The fancy deluxe mixed nuts is my go to for protein and a nice energy snack. I hope everyone stops by to check them out. Worth the trip.

The nuts are overpriced and nothing special in my opinion. The store has a weird vibe to it and closes too early during the week.

The pastries at Sweet Ride looked irresistable so we stopped there. I got a little bit of sticker shock when they told me how much I owed them for one cupcake and one eclair -- $9 (each was $4.50). We probably would've skipped it if we'd realized how pricy they were. The cupcake was incredibly decadent and delicious (encased in a milk chocolate shell, inside were a layer of whipped cream and layer of chocolate ganache atop a moist and delicious cupcake). The custard in the eclair was overly rich and the dessert itself too chilled to be especially enjoyable. On a future visit, I'd split the decadent cupcake two ways and skip the eclair.

And the food...OMG, the food. The smoked duck breast was spectacular. Truly amazing. The mushroom pizza was delicious, and I honestly couldn't stop eating it. We also had the ricotta, egg, truffle, and kombucha pasta. It was good, just not quite as incredible as everything else. The egg inside was cooked solid, and I think if the yolk had been just a little runny, it would have taken the dish completely over the top. Such a great dinner. Can't wait to come back!

The bacon scone was absolutely outstanding, however you have to ask for butter for this, which is a must, but that was the only thing for a $325 brunch bill for 4 people. The entrees were cold when we received them, and one took so long to get that it was actually comped by the restaurant. The steak and egg benny was okay. The egg was overcooked and only jammy and not runny, and the croissant which had the steak on it was super oily and gross. There is a reason why a biscuit or english muffin is used in this dish, so whoever decided a croissant was a good idea is not smart, or eating the current weekend chef's food. The potato frites super greasy and oily as well as cold. Draining them on a paper towel would have been clutch. We had other entrees that no one finished because of the quality and taste of the food. It would have been helpful if the kitchen staff put the food under a salamander or heat light. If they have one of these, it certainly wasn't working that day in proper order. This is not a place I would ever go to brunch again. Maybe I would try dinner have one of their cheaper dinners as the $34 benny was overpriced and underperforming. I am giving this place three stars rather than one because the service was great unlike the food.

I had dinner with my parents at Alpino last week, and we had a great meal. Alpino is an Alpine (as…read morein of the Alps) restaurant, so you can find nods to Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland, Germany, and France on their menu and on their wine list. When you walk in, you get the Alpine vibes right away - carved wood, wood beams, a fireplace... It's beautiful but very comfortable. My mom is vegan, and Alpino's menu had several veganizable options for her (marked on the menu). She had a veganized chicory salad (bitter greens, golden apple, Comté cheese, pecan, and juniper maple citronette - they removed the cheese) and a veganized rösti (Swiss potato pancake, smoked salmon, crème fraîche, and mustard greens - they removed the smoked salmon and crème fraîche). My stepdad and I shared their carne salada (house-cured wagyu beef, crispy potatoes, rafano, and herbs, which was great. He enjoyed their chicken goulasch (Amich chicken thigh, paprika and tomato gravy, spätzle, and crème fraîche), while I fell in love with their Wienerschnitzel (breaded veal cutlet, morel rahmsauce, and pickled mustard seeds). Sadly, we didn't have room for dessert, because the food overall was great. Since my parents don't drink, I had a designated driver and so was determined to order a lot of their great wine. I had one glass of orange wine from Krasno in Slovenia and then two glasses of Grüner Veltliner from the Franz Etz estate in Austria. Their wine list is part of what makes a meal at Alpino such a treat. On top of great food, great wine, and great ambiance, the service was also great. Our server was Leonardo/Leo, who was attentive, friendly, and very helpful. The wonderful service helped make this a five-star meal for us. If I lived in Detroit, I'd be at Alpino once a month. It was a great meal. Great food, great vibes, great wine, great service. I used the word great a lot in this review, but it was just .... great! I'd love to return.

Located near Michigan & Trumbull in Corktown, it's a great spot for both social gatherings or solo visits. The staff is friendly and efficient. The affogato lives up to the hype. Not only does it satisfy a sweet tooth, it's also a nice pick-me-up. The gelato flight is a great option for sharing. $17 may seem steep, but it's cheaper than ordering multiple individual cups. Of the five flavors I've tried, the pistachio is my favorite. Momento also offers baked goods and sorbet. I've had the lemon and raspberry sorbets, and personally prefer the lemon. While the baked goods are outsourced, the croissant I had was delicious. I've also tried the lemonade. It was too sour for my liking, though I'm hoping it was just an off batch. There are also some savory options, like breakfast sandwiches and paninis, I plan on trying one day. In the few times my family and I have been to Momento, we've always left happy. Gelato isn't especially common in the Metro Detroit area, so having a solid spot like this in one of the city's most happening neighborhoods shouldn't be taken for granted.
