    i used to love this shop because i had a service writer who i had good rapport. i also used to…read morewrench, he re$pected that and the work was done well. then he retired. i tried to build rapport with the next guy. but he was too busy trying to hustle me. i'm pretty certain the service writers work on commissions. every job was "book time". for those that don't know, book time is the standard labor time listed in an industry guide for a specific repair and not necessarily how long it will actually take them to complete the repair. to me book time is how long it would take a novice to fix your car by watching you tube to complete the job and having to dig for the tools along the way or make a few calls to find the right specialty tool. but this being a shop your car would be fixed but your wallet is going to need a tow. i was always quoted a book time. even for a brake job. yeah, a brake job. brake jobs to a mechanic is a like a baker telling you they need all day to make your cake and once you leave they pour it out of a box called betty crocker. anyway, i needed front and rear done. he said the shop was too busy and could only do the front. i picked up the car after the labor time he quoted me. it was sitting on the lot and waiting for me. i paid the ridiculous rate for the front brake job and drove off. 35 minutes later i got a frantic message from the service writer. the mechanic completed both front and rear brakes in the amount of time he quoted for just the front. i had a truck with the optional larger engine (more torque). the engine mount broke. they replaced it. within a week, the new one broke. i took it back. they replaced it. within a week, that one broke. they replaced it. hoping third time is a charm. but i didn't drive the truck for awhile, but when i did about a month later, it broke. i took it back. i was starting to get static about the time that had passed, but i had done my research and stopped him dead in his tracks. he installed the wrong part. the part the truck needed has a heat shield to protect the rubber/polymer bushing from the extreme heat from the exhaust manifold. he kept ordering a part without the heat shield. and to add insult to injury the original receipt showed the markup on his part without the shield was about 150% over retail of the one i found with the shield. i spent way too much of my own time and effort into getting this problem fixed. business should not forget that customer's time and energy also has value and come at a cost. my shop philosophy is: do it right, use the correct parts, install it properly, and charge me fairly. i want you to keep the lights on and stay in business. i want to be a repeat customer. that's a deal i can support. but if you can't do that and you're also trying to do some mineral extraction out of my checking account -- i'm shifting gears, changing lanes, and hitting the road.

Personally, I hate taking my car places because, unfortunately, females get taken advantage of. All their reviews were so great! I called and they were able to get me in the next day. I was able to drop my car off in the morning and pick it up after work. I asked what kind of oil and immediately was told not the cheap stuff for your BMW- I said good, you passed the test and we laughed. They were awesome. I have since taken my car back to replace my battery and get my engine bay cleaned. Battery is easy I know, but my car is special and I didn't want to deal with it. I was met again with exceptional service- going above and beyond! They respond quickly, provide great service and even throw in some jokes! These guys are seriously so kind (and funny). If you need to have work done in your car, take it to them! They gave me a great deal and took such good care of my car! Thank you!

    Very dishonest business. I came in wanting help with a flat tire. Rodrigo said my calipers were…read morerubbing against my rotor and needed an immediate $1.5k fix. I wanted validation of that first. Rodrigo came out to show me and was making up all sorts of stuff like feel the grooves, it needs a replacement. Still not convinced as I wasn't getting a straight answer to how many mm are left with proof, I went under the car and took this picture. There is more than 50% left, about 70% of a full pad. The little low pad warning visual helper notch is still there as well. Are the clerks incentivized to make one time sales over running a honest business? Please make good win-win long term decisions for yourself Big O. I appreciate the tire repair but not the dishonest upsell. I was scared and never experienced this before. Very very unsettling, and I immediately started calling around for help. After contacting several places, including visiting Costco in foster city with no avail, I was told that many locations didn't have the tire size I needed. My vehicle has 18-inch rims...not common to carry. Finding a replacement wasn't as easy as I expected. Thankfully, this shop was extremely helpful. Not only did they have used tire I needed in stock, but they also took the time to walk me through my options and provide recommendations for future tire replacements. The front desk lady was super kind and friendly, very helpful and I appreciated her support. Very refreshing to have a memorable kind interaction. I appreciated her very much during this scary moment. What stood out most was how supportive and helpful everyone was throughout the process. They answered my questions, called me back with updates (their inventory and finding solutions), and genuinely made me feel safe and taken care of during a stressful situation. I felt they CARED. When you're dealing with something that directly impacts your safety on the road...and limited options due to it being 6pm with many local shops closing...that level of customer service means A LOT. I was able to leave with the used tire I needed and return for the future replacement they ordered for me (new, exact, and with warranty for 50k miles). Their team went above and beyond. What spoke most to me was their professionalism, kindness, and willingness to help made all the difference. Go with them. I'm incredibly grateful for their assistance. I was frustrated -- I had just driven 25 miles (about 30 minutes) specifically for this appointment. If a scheduled service can't be honored, customers should be notified before they make the trip. What made it worse was the complete lack of concern or effort to help resolve the situation. I walked out fully intending to call corporate and leave a negative review -- but then something changed. Another employee, Brandon Pascacio, noticed what happened and literally came after me in the parking lot to ask how he could help. I explained that I simply needed the alignment I had scheduled. Brandon asked me to come back inside and assured me they would take care of it. Because of Brandon's professionalism and customer service, Wheel Works ended up earning nearly $1,000 in business from me, including an alignment-for-life package, new tires, and additional repairs. He completely turned the experience around and is the reason this review isn't one star. From my understanding, the employee who initially turned me away was the manager or acting manager. If that's the case, Wheel Works seriously needs to reevaluate who is leading this location. Poor customer service and dismissive attitudes are exactly why businesses lose customers and damage their reputation. Brandon, on the other hand, is the kind of employee who builds loyalty and keeps customers coming back. The only reason this review is four stars instead of one or two is because Brandon stepped in and completely changed the experience. Without him, Wheel Works would have lost both my business and any future recommendations from me. Update: If you're looking for Brandon, he's moved to the San Mateo location on El Camino.
