STAY AWAY! I was always annoyed by their customer service, but they were convenient, and the car was being serviced. But this last experience killed it for me. I heard an odd noise, I went on a drive with the mechanic. He heard it. He said it was a rotor. They replaced the left wheel rotor. I got the car back. The noise was back. They replaced the other rotor. I got the car back. The noise was back. OH, it is the fuel pump making the noise. WHAT! You have to be kidding me. How are you going to make that right? Well, they told me, "The rotors were ready to go anyway." Really, so when you only replaced on rotor, what was that about? That makes no sense. If one rotor was worn down, why would you not check the other one. Anyway, they made some amends, absorbing the labor on the fuel pump. Shame on me, I brought it back in recently for a rough idle. They couldn't identify a problem. Really? 24 hours later, it is barely driving. Stay away. They are incompetent. They have lousy customer service. And they don't own up to their own mistakes. Oh yeah, I had them make a repair to a broken window and had to bring it back when the door wouldn't close right. What was I thinking going back here? read more

Untrustworthy. Shady. Avoid! These are the words to describe these con artists. I used to take my Mercedes here. Yes, the car needed more-than-routine servicing each year; however, each time I brought it in, these guys ALWAYS found something major to "repair" thereby doubling my bill. The straw that broke the camel's back was when they said I basically needed a new engine, and that the car was ready to go kapput any second. This was surprising since the engine seemed fine to me. The choices they gave me were: spend $5,000 on a new engine, which we both agreed was probably not worth it given the car's age; or, they'd be willing to buy the car from me for $1,500. Huh? I said I'd think about it. I took it to another mechanic who confirmed my suspicion. The engine was fine (and continues to run fine). read more

Stay far far away!!!! Gave me a quote for $660 & came away with a bill for $1165. Not only that, 3 days after they "fixed" my car with a new water pump & thermo housing, my car overheated on the side of the road. They said it was because the new water pump applied the proper pressure and thus affected the radiator & reservoir and wanted to charge me $770 for installing new ones. Decided that I wanted to bring my business elsewhere and they then charged me $50 to release my car since they had performed a "diagnosis". Insane!! Brought car to another shop who replaced the reservoir for $150 (radiator was not broke he said) and believes that they had inproperly installed the water pump leaving an air bubble that cracked the reservoir. Incompetent, dishonest and expensive. read more

Don't be fooled by how many years they have been in business. My impression is that the technician is very knowledgeable and talented, however, he is at the mercy of the owners. The gal that is in charge of the office works really hard to pressure the client for more service. 2002 Audi with 25,000 miles taken in for an oil leak. After original estimate was quadrupled ($1000.00 to over $4000.00) to take care of other "known" Audi issues the car still has an oil leak. 1999 Porsche Carrera taken in for "brake wear" light and brake pedal sticking the same time the Audi was taken in for service. Over $4000.00 later the "brake wear" light still comes on intermittently and the brake pedal still lags after released. The Porsche was taken back and GAK says they can't duplicate the problem. My translation : "We must have missed something and will have to repair it at no cost". They have won and worn me down. I took the Porsche back to the dealership where I purchased it to have it repaired correctly. I spent over $8000.00 to learn a hard lesson. Premium auto service at a premium price. They detail your car afterwards, but I stopped going there when I realized that if they detailed my car they would produce a cocker spaniel hairball so big it would probably destroy their vacuum. They do really good work but they are pricey. read more

RIP OFF, took my BMW 528 there for a quick oil change and service, $400. 4 months later car over heated, day one $1,100, then it over heated again, day two $600. But the really great part was that the women who is "helping" me totally yells at you and makes no warranty about whether this is the end of the abuse. From the fact they can't figure out a screwed up water pump tells me that detailing a car is worth as much as the work they do, about $100. Go back to Peter Pan BMW, at least you can check out the new cars while they over charge you which you expect. GO SOMEPLACE WHERE YOU DON'T GET YELLED AT OR SCREWED OVER, this place is not it. read more

You should expect to pay more for expertise and an excellent customer experience, just as you would expect to pay more at Nordstrom than Mervyns. Over the years they have gone above and beyond for me and my family. E.g. Jeanine put in place an Oracle employee discount, she researched where I could get an extended warranty. And last week, I popped in after I had a bad clutch experience. Bogden came out and assured me that it was fine the burnt clutch smell would go away. (He was right). We just picked up our '94 Mercedes SL500 from the shop today and are extremely pleased & relieved to have found German Auto Kraft! Thank you Jeannine, Maria & Staff! After years of taking it to another local mechanic who did not specialize in Mercedes - my husband was told by the owner that the car needed to be taken to a Mercedes dealership for a proper diagnosis & repair of the SRS, brakes, steering & other misc. issues that continued to plague our car. While searching for the local Mercedes dealership phone number online to make an appointment, I found German Auto Kraft in Belmont and decided to check it out as it was close by and the reviews on YELP were positive. My initial call was with Maria, who was very knowledgeable, professional and friendly over the phone. We brought the car in the next day (even though we knew they wouldn't be able to get to it for another day or so). We met with Jeannine, the owner and she walked us through the shop and gave us a brief but detailed overview of the diagnosis and repair process. Once I got the call back with the diagnosis - Jeannine provided me with a detailed list of everything that was wrong with the car. She walked me through each item w/ part & repair cost and helped me prioritize the work that needed to be done. Obviously, we knew it was going to be very costly to repair everything - but we wanted to take care of the safety issues first. I was pretty impressed w/ her honesty in helping me decide what work was a safety concern & what could be done later. She was very easy to talk to and made the decision process very easy. This is the main reason why I would recommend German Auto Kraft over the Mercedes dealership - Honesty and no "run around". Final cost was 3K ... and it could have and probably would have been more, had we taken it to be serviced at the Mercedes dealership. 10 month ago...I've been taking my vehicles here for years - for the major stuff. Recently took may car to another mechanic for an oil change (thought it would be super quick), never-the-less, may car was damaged (mistakes happen). But I was rather distraught. I called and Janine was so helpful, she calmed me down, gave me instruction and options over the phone and really made my horrible day a bit better. May car was fixed before the other mechanic said he could even get the parts necessary! Maria and Janine kept me informed of the progress with my car, and really went the extra mile to help me with the situation. After taking my Audi to Fred's garage for almost 7 years I had to find a new shop after finding out Fred's had closed earlier this year. I gave German Auto Kraft a try since they specialize in german cars and have great reviews. Janine and Maria were great with scheduling and keeping me up to date and the price of the tune up quoted was very reasonable. During the tune-up itself the mechanic discovered a coolant leak which he suggested I get fixed. I had started suspecting I had a coolant leak one month prior to the tune-up but had forgotten to mention it when I dropped it off, and still they were able to find it! Instead of same day turn around, the car was ready the next day (as parts had to be ordered) by 3 pm. The updated quote I was given on the phone was perfectly accurate and when it was time to pay there no unpleasant surprises. I also really appreciated the fact that they took the time to show me the shop, the new parts ordered and the old parts being replaced and were happy to answer any questions. I never felt pressured into doing any unnecessary items and the shop is extremely clean and organized which is always a great sign. They seem to appreciate owners who know and care about their cars and are never patronising in the way they explain the multiple options and implications. Relationships between owners and mechanics always take time to build but this one is off to a good start and I plan on bringing my car here for the forseable future. read more

Jeannine, The problem is that I told you specifically that the mass flow meter needed to be replaced (as mentioned by your mechanic during my second visit), which is a $150 part that needs 10 minutes to replace.... and you decided to replace a bunch of parts that were not required, which is against the law and constitutes FRAUD. All the fault codes were stemming from the faulty mass flow meter and yet AGAIN YOU DISPLAY your ignorance by stating that you fixed 3 pages of fault codes that you addressed. I guess, that is what happens when the shop is run by someone who worked for Mercedes 30 years ago and has NO UNDERSTANDING of how to troubleshoot electronics...... read more

I took my 2003 BMW M3 to German Auto Kraft after I heard multiple loud noises from underneath the car. I also wanted to do a little work on the inside of my car. They realized that my RTAB's (rear trailing arm brushings) were worn out. They even showed me the part after replacing it and I was able to see the visible damage. The part was replaced and finished in a day. They also were able to order me new seats for the entire car, at a great price. I changed the interior from grey to black. Not only can they do routine service and check ups but they can also perform great customizing work. I would recommend this shop to any German car owner. Talk to Jeannine at the front desk. She is very friendly and I was able to reach her immediately over the phone, unlike any dealership. She is pretty good to look at as well, might I add. read more

I bought a beautiful 2005 mercedes E500 with a salvage title for an unbelievable small price. It had strange noises, but I wasn't exactly sure the problem. I took it German Autokraft w/out telling them it had been in an accident or salvage title. They were able to determine the exact problem after I took one of their service engineers for a 2 minute drive around the block. They quoted me a good price, majority of it being in parts, which I checked online. When all said and done my car was in perfect condition for only about $875 bucks. It needed a new hydrolic compressor and supporting misc. parts. I'm sure the dealers wouldn't have been able to determine the problem and/or give me such a great deal. Great service, will refer friends with Benz or BMW. read more

Brought the Mercedes in for repairs. Was not charging. I needed a battery and the water pump was leaking. Spoke with Jeannine and she explained my repairs. They finished the car the next day. I was impressed. They came to my house to pick me up. They showed me my water pump and I could see where it was leaking. Being tax time, this was not the ideal situation to be spending money to fix this car. Jeannine gave me $150.00 off labor as a tax time relief discount. I will not take my Mercedes any other place again. I had a water problem with my CL500 and had the car towed to Autobahn in Belmont, who had always maintained my vehicle, they told me it would cost 17,885.00 to get my car started. They suggested I file a report with my insurance company and total the vehicle. I had driven by German Auto Kraft for many years than had the pleasure of meeting Jeannine and Bogdan in town so I immediately reached out to them for help, they did just that..There estimate to get my car running was 1350.00 I had them repair a few other items and they were diligent, always kept me updated as to the progress and even showed me the parts to my vehicle that were replaced. I came to learn that a couple of filters that were supposed to be replaced during the scheduled maintenance work that Autobahn did, were NEVER replaced. A bit pricey, but I think they're good at what they do. Of course, that's coming from someone who knows little about cars. What irks me about them is their website says they offer alternate transportation and a complimentary car wash, but whenever I schedule an appt to bring my car in and need a temporary car, they tell me I need to rent from the nearby Enterprise. As for the car wash, the standard line I get is "we can't promise a car wash, our guy will get to it if he has time" and almost always, my car is unwashed when I pick it up. read more

I've been borrowing my Dad's '91 300 class Mercedes while I'm in between vehicles, and one the belts started making a weird sound. He has a trusted mechanic in Santa Cruz, but I wasn't about to drive it there from Belmont, so I pulled into German Auto Kraft. Jeannine and Maria at the front desk were extremely helpful, and understood that bringing an old car into a new mechanic can be a nerve wracking situation, and assured me they would take care of my Dad's old girl. They were communicative, got the repair done in less than 48 hours even though they had to order a part, and even saved the parts they took out of the car so my Dad can see how worn out the belt was and that they weren't trying to get him to pay for parts he didn't need. If I owned a Mercedes, I would definitely be a return customer, and am glad to know they are on this side of hill in case my Dad gets in another pickle while he's visiting! read more

I cannot emphasize enough how professional and how honest & reasonable they are in every way! From start to finish!! I've had my E350 repaired by GAK several times and it's been like night and day in terms of the quality of the repairs, the honest and fair pricing along with the outstanding customer service that Jeannine has given me! Maria too! This is a family owned business and has been repairing cars for over 34 years! They treat you as if you are part of their family being so reasonable and honest! This week I am in Southern Ca and I needed some repairs done as my light went on! I took it to a dealership and was basically told I needed to spend 6000 approx. I called Jeannine to ask her advise about whether I needed certain repairs done! Not only did she give me about 30 minutes of her time re recommendations she walked me thru the questions to ask the repair shop in SC. Turns out because of her amazing patience with me I learned a whole bunch and I ended up saving 5500! She emailed me three times to make sure I was asking the right questions and SHE Jeannine saved me over 5500!! I will never go anyplace else! They have my forever loyalty and business always!
