I started bringing my '05 Beetle here when I was in college and didn't have much money to throw around. Trevor has always been super nice, honest, and collaborative, never pushing me to get services too soon or in excess. In fact, I have had my beetle for a number of years now and was concerned it might need a new alternator. I contacted a different mechanic (slightly closer to my house) and they quoted me almost $2,000 for a remanufactured one. I called Trevor from German Auto in a panic, worried that I might have to sell my beetle if the alternator was going to be that expensive. Not only did Trevor quote me less than half of the aforementioned amount for a NEW OEM alternator, he also helped me out over the phone, listening to the symptoms my car was having and suggesting other things we could test first, affordably, before deciding to spend the money on the alternator. Found this shop on yelp while looking for a new mechanic to service my 2004 Porsche Cayenne that had recently failed a smog check. Called on Monday and Trevor was friendly and asked me to bring my car in the following day for a diagnostic. The next day Trevor called around noon with a diagnostic and a quote to make the repairs necessary. The turn around was quick as well. The car was ready Thursday by noon. When picking up my car, Dave went over the diagnostic results and the additional repairs he suggested. I gotta admit Dave was thorough in explaining the repairs conducted, recommended I get new tires and even fixed my ashtray that wasn't closing without me even asking him too. Although, my service engine came back on a few hours later. I'll more then likely return to Dave and his team to address any outstanding repairs required due to their professional expertise. Yes a diagnostic is $120 but its less then $350 that you pay at the dealer to get the same diagnostic. read more

I was at wits end on what to do with my 2013 Audi AllRoad 2.0l with some kind of electrical issue. I had taken it to the dealer and one other place and they both were saying my K&N intake and filter were causing the issue. I was getting warning lights on the ESC, TPMS and getting a P0100 Mass Air Flow meter failure. The first two places refused to work on it until I put the OEM air filter box back in. I finally decided to take it Trevor. Lo and behold, after some rigorous troubleshooting, they found the cause to be a broken wire in the cable housing going to the MAF. They fixed it and it is completely back to driving normally again!! If they didn't find it, I wasn't sure what I was going to do - maybe even get rid of it at a huge loss. These guys saved my car and saved me a lot of heartache. I highly recommend if you are having a bizarre issue with your German car, take it to these guys. My rating is based on the logistical aspect of this, my car was never worked on. I had called a few days before to set up an appointment to bring in my car for an oil change and to look at for its 60k service. Trevor had told me to bring in the car between 9 and 10 AM and it would be done late morning or early afternoon. I brought in the car at 0925. The service manager Trevor was a nice guy and was easy to talk to. The problem was when I came back to see the status of my car at 12:30 they had not even worked on it. I sold my x3 for $7500. I got it in 2005 and drove it for 10 years. The "warranty" years were done at LB BMW. The non warranty years was all spent at this shop. They've always treated me right and at the same time for all BMW owners, we all know what we get into owning this cars. After 170k miles on my X3, I couldn't resist buying another BMW. I bought a used BMW coupe. The very next day I brought over to Dave so he can look it over. Dave looked over the car. He looked at the "computer" diagnostics and said everything is ok. Recommended an oil change about 7000 miles from now. That was it. I ask him how much do I owe him and he said, nothing , bring it back at 7000 miles and he will do the oil change. I spoke with this shop about 4 months ago regarding a VW jetta. The guy I spoke to then was very nice and seemed like he wanted the work. Said they'd diagnose it ($49) for me and would be very reasonable with the charges. Then Covid happen, which halted everything. I call back today to schedule an appointment and another guy with an attitude answers and tells me " It will be $240 for them to check out your car". WTF! No one charges that much for a diagnostic check! Don't know if they have new employees or what but that one just lost you some more business. read more

I only take my vehicle here now. They have a fully functional waiting room in case you need to wait around. I was able to bring my laptop in to catch up on work. Great service!!! Trevor and the team do a great job of doing their best to be honest, fix your car, and save you the most money you can. Repairs cost especially when it's body and electrical. I have a Benz ml320 and took the car in for my "machine gunning" locks Along with my broken power window motor. They only use oem parts and will not install the parts you bring. I had a used power window motor and they advised they would have to get their own replacement. But they do a fantastic job of making it work and get back to working order. I would definitely go back and recommend the spot. My front had work done on his Benz which led me here. If you are looking for honest good work. This is the spot to go. read more

I have never written a first review, but these guys really deserve some kudos! When looking for a mechanic I look for several things, namely: honesty, trustworthiness, skill, price and speed. These guys nail it on all five points! I first came to them a few years back with some mysterious electrical issues on my then '91 Jetta that no one else had been able to successfully diagnose or fix. You know the drill, you take your car to someone who either doesn't know what they're doing, or just doesn't care, so instead of taking the time to find out what's really wrong, they just start swapping out parts until they change out the correct one (racking up substantial costs in parts and labor) and not necessarily getting to the root of your problem. This had been my experience up until this point with my Jetta. But not these guys! They are a family-owned business (father and son, Dave & Trevor respectively), they have a lot of practical experience and take a tremendous amount of pride in their work and customer service. Whether you bring them your expensive luxury car or your old beater they will show you the same amount of attention, friendliness and respect. So back to my Jetta, they took the time to get to the root of the problem, and seeing as I was on a tight budget at the time, did everything they could to save me money. They even went as far as repairing some of the parts themselves instead of having to purchase new ones, which would have been unnecessary and expensive. Bottom line, they got me back on the road with a minimal amount of heart-ache and expense. And when it came time for me to sell it, I took it to them to help put its best "tire" forward and the car sold easily. I now drive a more problem-free Toyota Corolla which I also take to them (Even though they specialize in German cars, they have a lot of experience with Toyotas and Hondas as well and have easy access to the manufacturer-recommended parts), and they have given it the 5-Star treatment. As long as these guys are in business (which I hope is a long time), they can count on mine. They have earned my trust an loyalty. I've been through several cars and mechanics over the years and these guys are my hands-down favorite! And now that they are on everyone's Yelp-dar, I look forward to reading about your positive experiences as well. read more

It was great finding this place through yelp. I have a BMW and had some service lights come up, and I knew going to the dealership would cost me an arm, a leg, and a kidney. Well, this place offers great service with no BS. I went in there without an appointment, but Trevor was still able to work on my car. I recommend making an appointment. Usually, I always feel like I'm gonna get screwed going to a mechanic, but these guys seem honest and want to get you on your way. I'm glad I got find a mechanic 5 minutes away from me. Hopefully, I won't see them often, but when I do, I know I'll be taken care of. Best part was when I went to pick up the car, a hotdog vendor was selling LA style hotdogs during lunch, so I got one of those as well. read more

Called in and made an appointment to get a valve cover gasket changed even asked if they would work on a lowered car and they said yes.. Went to my 8:00am appointment and wasn't even open yet so I Waited for about 15mins, finally got to talk to someone got a pricing and all that good stuff then 30mins later of me waiting in the waiting room, the mechanic or whoever it is comes tell me he refuses to work on my car because its too modified like my after market radiator fan. What does the fan have to do with changing my valve cover gasket? Waste of my time driving and waiting just for someone to tell me they wont work on my car. I ended up going to another mechanic downtown Long Beach and he worked on my car and had no problems or difficulties whatsoever doing it. Only good thing I can say about this place is the customer service on the phone, he was really nice. read more

I don't know crap about cars. I know that I bought a BMW because I wanted one and it was nice.... well after 5 years I finally had to get it SMOG Certified... I assumed that since it was a 5 year old BMW I should have no problem........ Not the case. My check engine light came on... Not because the engine had any issues but because the sensor that tells me what the temp is outside wasn't working. That has nothing to do with a SMOG test. Well because of that little item the car wouldn't pass. The dealership wanted $400-$500 to fix it but Trevor at German Auto Parts got it handled for $140 after tax. No complaints from me. The location means they focus on taking care of my car and not on bs stuff in the shop that I don't care about. Trevor and Dave took care of me and were very nice and informative. I am sometimes concerned when I'm dressed for work and driving a somewhat nice car that a service shop might try to squeeze me for more money. But I got none of that from this shop. Trevor is always helpful and will tell you straight-up what needs to be done and what can wait. This helps me budget and plan for car-related expenses and keeps me coming back when it's time to get the work done. I also like that they always show you the parts that were removed/replaced (if any) and will give you an explanation of what was done to the vehicle and why it was needed.
