We went mainly to experience the bar with history with some drinks which did meet our expectations. Lovely clean bar and restaurant however, the bartender however was not very friendly (literally never seen a slight smile on her face). She was a somewhat an unapproachable odd character with shaded sunglasses who seemed disgruntled when I asked for a sample of a beer. More than anything, very overpriced!! Our tab came out to $82 for; one shot drink, double shot drink, a beer, and 2 iced teas....whaat..$82 bucks. Not worth it. If you really want to go, only order one drink and bounce. read more

Ambiance was cool - 1800's Victorian vibe. Service was fine and a bit odd of character. The food was not up to expectations as it in no way mirrored the described items on the menu nor anything remotely similar to the pictured items on the website. The fish was not prepared as described on the grill - nothing more to say. The drinks were awful and one was served warm and the other cold. The water served and soda tasted like it was made with unfiltered tap water. I have not been in a situation where I am anticipating a fine dining experience and feel like I went down the rabbit hole as the situation was one thing after the other with the plates served. Then to top it off with a $200 plus change bill and not eat what was ordered, drink - let alone dessert. It was just disappointing and a waste of money. read more

After driving by it multiple times over the past year, we decided we would finally stop in for dinner. And we learned what we were missing this whole time! The food, service, and ambience were amazing! I had the cream of chicken vegetable soup and Casey had the salad. He held back from licking the bleu cheese salad dressing clean from the dish, he said it was so good! The soup was homemade and perfectly spiced. The baked potato was the best baked potato we have ever had. The perfect amount of butter, sour cream, cheese, and toppings! Casey even ate all of his green beans! And you have to save room for the cheesecake! Wow!!!! What a wonderful evening well spent. We will definitely be back! read more

What a delightful surprise. Finley's is a beautifully decorated restaurant with vintage chandeliers and unique accents throughout. My friends and I found this quaint location between Stockton and Manteca on S Airport Way. The owner, Deborah was charming & attentive as our host & server. We had a lovely table next to the patio. It was a bit too cool for patio dining, but the lush foliage was gorgeous & in full spring color. Our food was delicious. It was plated well and came in a timely manner. The price is higher end, but worth it! My ladies and I will return. read more

One car in the parking lot; that should have been a red flag for us. The owner wore dark glasses in the bar. She was foreboding and lacked any friendliness. The first thing I saw was a big flat screen with Fox news on it. There was Trump merch everywhere! When we sat down the waitress explained that only half of the menu was available and after looking at those prices we decided too many red flags and left. Weird vibes all around. read more

My husband and I went to Finley's tonight and had a wonderful experience. The service was great and food exceptional. My husband had the prime rib and I got the salmon. The prime rib was smoked and had house made horseradish sauce. He topped it off with a Belgian Ale. I had salmon on top of the best buttery mashed potatoes. This should easily be a 5 star establishment! Great hospitality, high quality menu with reasonable pricing -- you pay for the quality you're getting! Ambiance is classy, unique and you can tell this place has history in its 30 years or so of existence! The owner is an absolute delight, I really enjoyed this gem I happened to find while passing through the area and will recommend everyone to go treat themselves to a home cooked quality style meal. The hidden gem of Manteca .... Finley's Bar and Grill! After a late day of golf we ended up driving out for dinner for the first time in all the years we have lived in the valley. We were so very welcomed by Debora Finley who is just the most kindest, lovely and classy lady we have seen. Her drinks were on point and her recommendations on our dinner were spot on. We ordered a good'ol plate of steak and potatoes to which our surprise was served to us by the very own chef and owner Mark! Best steak hands down loaded with mushrooms and garlic After dinner we decided to stick around and hear the story of how this place came about and well almost three hours later we left feeling like we were part of their family. Deb and Mark we can't thank you enough for your hospitality and your kindness. We will pay a visit again as this now is most definitely "our" spot. The Philly sandwich was not traditional, ie, not chopped w/cheese. It was slices of beef. The Caesar salad was so-so. The owner Debra was attentive and kind and the entire dining room had this vintage, at home vibe. Came here for the first time with my boyfriend. The food took a while to come but we did not mind. 9 pm came around and they told us that they were closing but no rush. My boyfriend was finishing his beer when 15 minutes later we were told it was time to leave because they were closed. We went to pay and our waitress picks up our dishes and mentions that my boyfriend didn't finish his beer, I told her we kinda got the boot so he didn't get to. The lady who was ringing us up, (I'm assuming she's the owner because she was in a wheelchair wearing sunglasses at 9pm) aggressively stated, "Well you were late to your reservation." Correction, we arrived at 7:22pm for a 7:15pm reservation which wasn't needed because there was no one but one other couple besides us, and it was a weekday. In addition, it took 20 mins for our server to hand us the menus and take our drinks, (she said she was new and apologized for the delay, she was sweet), and even longer for our food, however at that point I decided to be respectful and not respond. The defensive attitude and response was disappointing and shocking to say the least. I'm all about supporting small business but this type of behavior makes it hard to come back. As far as food, vegetables looked like they came out of a frozen bag, and steak was bland. The decor was pleasing and added character. Definitely would have wished for a better experience! read more

I read reviews and we wanted to try somewhere different. It was a mistake. Food was ok. Nothing gave us the "wow" factor. Also no kids menu or kid friendly options. We ordered drinks one being a water. I had to remind the server 3x for water and still never got it. Sodas we got were flat no carbonation. They changed them to a different flavor and those were just flat as well and then they gave us whatever warmed canned soda they had with no cups of ice. It was quiet there was only us there until maybe 15min in and I believe 1-2 others came in. I most likely wouldn't go back I was hoping for a better experience since it's close to home. read more

My family and I went to have lunch at Finley's yesterday for lunch. The website said the restaurant opened at 11:00. We arrived at about 11:15 and walked into the restaurant. There was a woman sitting at the end of the bar. She told me the restaurant did not open until 12:00. I told her that the website said 11:00, to which she replied "we changed it." We felt she was very rude and couldn't care less. We definitely will not be back. read more

It's cute how they think luxury decor can hide the stink of authoritarianism. Apparently, nothing says "freedom" like cheering for the erosion of democracy over a smoked old fashioned. 1st time trying Finley's and we were pleasantly surprised. A very quaint, uniquely decorated place with so much to look at! The landscaping was INCREDIBLE! We ordered the pork tenderloin which came with a baked potato, green beans and salad! All were delicious but the green beans were AMAZING! We also had the French Dip and it was DELICIOUS! The meat was smoked and so tender and the bread was grilled and seasoned! This meal came with fries which were SOOOO GOOD and a small cup of chili! Attentive waitstaff, super cozy ambience, and novel beer selection! We stumbled upon this quaint restaurant as we were exploring our new neighborhood. We meant to try it on St. Patrick's Day (they were having a corned beef special) but felt under the weather, so we ended up trying it on a random Thursday night. It gives off a locals-only vibe but the down-to-earth staff couldn't be more welcoming to us newcomers! We sat in an excellent spot with a view of the garden patio and felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. We ordered the steak special and filet mignon, perfectly cooked still pink in the middle, with their famous loaded potato (THE best!). We were treated with a scoop of spumoni ice cream for dessert, which totally took me back to my childhood! My boyfriend enjoyed a selection of unique European drafts while I sipped on an especially dirty vodka martini (just how I like it!). We highly recommend this hidden gem! read more

I went back a couple days later and had a great dinner. I had a medium rare tomahawk steak, loaded baked potato and broccoli. It was all prepared very well. The steak was cooked just right. It was large enough for 2.5 meals for me. I even gnawed on the bone! The potato was very good, as were the veggies. My friend had the filet mignon. It was large, cooked to her liking and she said she it was very good. The restaurant was pretty quiet, only a couple of other tables, but it was a Thursday night, so it might have just been quiet. It allowed my friend and I to chat comfortable through dinner. We were inside looking out onto the patio, which was very cute. There was a homey, rustic victoriana feeling to the restaurant that carried out onto the patio and even into the restroom. The service was excellent. Debra served us and told us about the history of the property while she kept our glasses full and made sure we had everything we needed. My friend and I both said on the way home that we wished Debra had had more time to sit with us and talk. We both really liked her. I I'm looking forward to have a nice cozy dinner on the patio with more friends. I still would love to see their menu on their website, including the times the kitchen is serving. One caveat: THIS IS A CASH ONLY ESTABLISHMENT. However, they do have an ATM on site. read more

IF YOU DRINK, THEN GO! Fun atmosphere! Honestly, I should have known better than believe the reviews. We are in Central California- which says it all! Sadly, if you want great food? Or even decent food, Finley's is NOT your place. What a waste of $150.00. Took home all of the food then threw it away. A READERS CHOICE MANTECA BULLETIN? Really? The small, thin, 6oz? rib-eye @ $40 with a "loaded potato" and canned green beans was very disappointing and tasteless. No garlic as advertised and the choice not prime cut of meat was well done (asked for MR) over peppered and had a grey hue to it. Their Shrimp Scampi was just boiled shrimp swimming in watery butter "sauce". Again with a dry, tiny baker and canned green beans. When presented and you answer yes to a loaded potato you do not expect to be charged $3 extra for it. Or their morning brew of bitter coffee for $4 (no cream or 1/2 &1/2 to help the sludge) was undrinkable. The owner looked at our full plates when she was asked to pack it up and asked if something was wrong. Thinking where do I begin? Not worth my breath to begin to teach her how to run her establishment. Example: she used her fingers to squeeze the tip of my drink straw to try and figure out what that black spot was. She finally figured to just take the straw away, no less. on my flat, but supposedly carbonated drink. At the end of this uneaten meal I learned they only take cash. There is no signage about that, only taking cash and no info about the charges for the extra on the loaded potatoes. I really wish it had been a wonderful experience and I can only hope that the owner reads this review and takes these observations to heart and undergoes the changes needed (better quality and fresh food product, a chef that understands the art of cooking and better signage! We had come in early for dinner and was guided to a room with 3 tables We were told not to sit on the 4 top because there was a big party the night before and I guess she was hoping another would come in tonight and had to be ready. We were there for 2 hours and only another deuce came. No big party. She clearly is trying to get as much money out of her business (ATM next to my table with a $4 charge for the necessary cash needed) to pay for their bill. read more

What a "find" don't let the detours from roadwork on Airport Way deter you from driving to this historical restaurant bar & grill. We came for the prime rib and rib eye and we weren't disappointed. The owners have run this place for 30yrs+ and treat you like family as soon as you walk in. Honestly , this is a really hidden gem of a place - extremely well kept, great table service and I can easily see small private parties here. Indoor / outdoor seating and beautifully decorated. If I had dark and ominous music to play while writing this review, you would be listening to it right now... You see, there is this odd little hundred year old house that lies just on the edge of Manteca off Airport Blvd. It's a truckers road, and has been for many years, surrounded by orchards, ranches, and the distant sound of freight trains. We came up the walk to the front porch of this classic farm house, and opened the door to a tiny piece of history. The front room is a saloon style bar, with bottles and dark wood the length of the room. We were surprised, as there were no other patrons in the bar, in fact... there were no other patrons at all... We were greeted by an older woman, with long black and grey mixed hair, older style black dress, thick lens glasses, and a gun cradled in her hand... No just kidding...about the gun that is. I had called ahead to make a reservation, but clearly that was not necessary. Our host waived her hand out to motion to us, and said with a low and smoothly slow tone, "you can sit anywhere you like". There were tables in this little bar area, and then more in another room, I will call the 'dining' room, where we decided to sit. The interior is not worn, but definitely in keeping with the original walls, ceiling and siding in appearance. This house is clearly over 100 years old, both inside and out. Once seated, we could see out the dining room windows to the back patio. The garden patio is partially covered, with lots of outdoor dining sets, surrounding a wonderful water fountain in the middle. Had it not been nearly 90 degrees outside today, we would have considered dining outside. Except for one odd observation... there must have been a dozen or two cats lounging around on the patio. Cats of all different sizes and colors and ages. Just hanging out...Like a movie... Our orders were taken, and afterward, with a very brief conversation, our host indicated that she was from Arkansas, and when asked about a b/w picture hung on the wall of three women, she noted that it was her mother, sister and herself in the picture. The mother is clutching a gun...She stepped away without saying more. She arrived in a couple minutes with our Greek salads. These were really nicely done, with lots of artichoke hearts, Kalamata olives, feta, and a very flavorful dressing. The salads are large enough to easily split which is what we did, and they also give you garlic bread for the table. Host went back up to the bar room, and later our food was served by a man who appeared through a nearby doorway. He was the picture of a classic old cowhand, with his worn out western jeans, loose plaid shirt, and the sun worn face and body of man who has worked hard on the ranch, and the ranch has worked hard on him. Two of us had chosen to have steak for dinner. And, these did not disappoint. Filet mignon was like butter, and the rib eye cut as smooth as silk. Both dishes came with fresh veggies, and 'loaded' baked potatoes. I could not have been happier with my rib eye. The seasoning was perfect. Classic meat and potatoes dishes done right. Other dishes were the scampi, and the pork tenderloin 'Greek style'. These two dishes were just ok. Not bad, but clearly not as tasty as the standout steak dishes. We saw two sets of couples walking up to the house while we were dining. Yet, when we left, there was a table for four, with only one of the other people at it... HMMMM what was the fate of the other diners? ? In all honesty, I loved this place. We are always up for an adventure and truly love anything that is not so boring and commonplace. Finley's hit the mark. I hope to make that walk up to the porch for brunch sometime and get to sit out on the patio. For dinner... stick with their steaks. They're excellent. read more

I found this place on accident when I was driving down the small road with my bobtail (semi truck without trailer). This is relevant information because this bar is located near a heavily-traveled truck route. If you're a trucker and bobtailing, then you should check this place out! The food is homemade by the bar's owner. His wife is the bartender and she is a sweet lady. Food is very expensive, which is why this review is short of 5 stars, but I give it 4 stars because of the beautiful decor and delicious food! read more

Husband and I wanted to go out to eat at a local bar and grill so we trekked on over to Manteca to Finleys. We walked in and the waitress (lady owner) seated us and we ordered 2 Jack and cokes. The cocktails came out in the smallest of glasses overflowing with ice, so much so, when we stirred our drinks ice came tumbling out. ($8 each) My husband took two drinks and the glass was empty so he ordered a tall draft beer ($12). We were given the choice of entrees from one menu. It said on the top of the menu that all meals come with baked potato and veggies. She took our order and I ordered the salmon ($33) and he ordered the rib eye ($40) She asked me first "would you like the loaded baked potato?" Of course! (That was her cue to tell me "that will be an extra $3) Then she asked "salad?" Yes please. (That was her cue to tell us "that will be an extra $6") She the asked what kind of dressing and I told her ranch. The salad seemed like it came out of a pre mix salad bag...believe me when I tell you , nothing fancy and certainly not worthy of $6 charge. Repeat with hubby and his order. While we were waiting, we enjoyed the ambiance because the decor was neat and the place is "historical" but when we got our food, the "loaded" baked potato had butter, sour cream and a SPRINKLE (I shit you not!) of bacon bits and few shreds of cheddar cheese. The salmon was good and steak was seasoned well... But then the bill came. Holy shit! We found out the sips that they called a cocktails were $8 each (which I couldn't even fathom given the ratio of ice and liquid) and the tall glass of beer was $12. But what started out to be $33 salmon turned out to be $3 extra for the bacon and cheese sprinkles and a $6 salad that was not disclosed to us is now a $42 salmon meal. What was once $40 steak turned out to be $49 with the upgrades, which we didn't realize were upgrades because that was saved for the bill! What a bust! Sorry, but we are foodies and eat out often. A little disclosure would have went a long way-we weren't expecting to get hosed with the bill. We could have went to the Waterloo or papapovlos or sushi and spent $150 on a very nice meal with more than one cocktail. I guess that explains why the parking lot was empty and no one "fine dining" there except for us. It also explains why we won't be returning. Sorry, but Finley's was a bust and there's nothing worse than feeling like you are being taken advantage and all you wanted was to do was go out for a decent meal and a good drink. (Bar and grill, hello??!!) They should definitely be telling folks "that's going to cost a little bit more-do you still want it?" I'm thankful that my husband takes me out to eat often but feel bad when we get ganked like that. It's just not right. But I guess everyone has to make a living somehow. read more
