The restaurant is an indoor/outdoor dining location. Also dog friendly. Our service was very good here. I ordered the chicken wings appetizer. Very flavorful and had good heat. It was a good portion and filling.

Great little restaurant near our lodge. Service was awesome! We were there for breakfast, but they're open for lunch and dinner, too. Our food was cooked to perfection and very tasty. I loved the little cup of jam they serve with toast. Definitely recommend.

Me and my wife grabbed breakfast here during our honeymoon in Carmel Valley. Martin was our server and he was wonderful -- super attentive, super kind and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious; we got the Trailside Cafe Breakfast plate and the breakfast sandwich. Both were so good! Highly recommend this spot!

We were in town for a family wedding and needed to grab lunch before checking into our hotel. The reviews for Trailside were pretty good so we gave it a try. Cute little cafe with a rustic cowboy vibe. Plenty of parking and a small patio to enjoy a meal in the gorgeous Carmel Valley sunshine. The inside was super cute and our server was AMAZING!! I sadly can't remember her name but she was super friendly and shared her favorite wine tasting spots near by. Here's what we ordered: GRILLED ARTICHOKE: GET THIS!! It was delicious and plenty for the 5 of us to share as a starter. TRAILSIDE SALAD: basic but fresh FISH AND CHIPS: Huge portions served with thin cut fries. Fish was tender and flaky and fries were plentiful. We kept taking bites off my brother's plate. Lol BLT w/TOTS: My mom and I split this and it was plenty. The bread was so good and the bacon was ... well .. perfect as were the Uber fresh produce. The tots were crisp and yummy. PESTO CHICKEN SANDO: This was the mother of all sandwiches. My daughter ordered this and could only eat half because it was giant. Really good though. Overall this place is a gem both in food and service and I'd absolutely come back. They also have a full bar and Happy Hour specials.

Lovely service. We sat on the patio on the most beautiful day in December. The food was seasoned perfectly and tasted very fresh. Wish this was closer to home for us so we could visit more often!

Just your run-of-the-mill diner staffed by the loveliest locals you'll ever meet. My boyfriend and I stopped here before our wine tour in Carmel Valley, and the Traileside Cafe provided the best hearty food to fuel us for the inebriation that lied ahead. We split the fish and chips and tuna melt which were both good. Albeit, not the best food we've ever had - maybe w notch above Black Bear Diner. But, not bad at all! What made this experience even better was our attentive, amicable waiter.

    Steinbeck Omelette

Nice cozy little spot in Carmel Valley. Beautiful scenery. Very kind and friendly service. Ordered the Steinbeck omelette and it was delicious. Will definitely return.

Clearly the pizookie deal is a hit amongst the South Bay Area because it's always absolutely packed at 10pm. Be prepared for a bit of a wait. They were extremely understaffed on a Tuesday night, and the poor waiters were running around and scrambling. The ambiance is casual and lively. The pizookie is absolutely worth the wait: the ice cream is a great contrast to the warm cookie. It's a huge portion, so one pizookie is the perfect size for two people. Can't wait for my next visit!

We made our reservations online and had no hassle with it. Parking can get very full at peak hours, but they also have valet parking. The interior has a dim sports bar vibe, and there were a couple of TVs playing sport games. I usually get the weekend prime rib special, which is a salad/soup, two sides, prime rib and a pizzokie. It is honestly a lot of food for a fair price. Unfortunately, the food always takes a while to arrive, as service is slow. The waiters also don't come by very often, which makes it hard to get water refills or utensils. The prime rib itself is okay at best. It is definitely not bad by any means but it's also doesn't have that "wow" factor. The asparagus and grilled veggies appetizers weren't that bad, but I felt like the grilled cauliflower was undercooked. I recommend getting the pastas instead. One time I got the Chicken Alfredo, and I was pleasantly surprised by it. One of the trademarks of BJs is their "pizzokie", which is a giant cookie with ice cream on top. It is honestly quite good, as the cookies are baked perfectly and they give a lot of ice cream. It is a heavy dessert though, and I recommend having two people to finish it. Overall, BJs is an allright place if you want to get dinner with a bunch of friends without the hassle of waiting or lack of space. If you're looking for somewhere to eat for a smaller group though, I think there could be better options in the area.

We enjoyed their chicken wings, calamari and fried breaded shrimp appetizers. It was excellent. We could barely enjoy our 3 topping pizza, grilled smoky chicken salad and lemon pepper chicken tenders. I wish we had something like this in SF. We got a lot of food for $10 happy hour entrees. We probably inundated the staff with our party of 30 people but everyone had a good time. Pizzas were good. I thoroughly enjoyed my pepperoni, bacon and mushroom pizza. Someone said the sausage on their pizza didn't taste right. The grilled chicken in the salad had a good smoky flavor. The lemon pepper chicken tenders were a little too shriveled up for me. Maybe the oil they fried them in was old.

I live in San Jose now, so I don't make it over as often, but I've always considered it one of my favorite places for a great burger. In fact, I was just telling a coworker this week how good their burgers were, which is what convinced me to stop in for lunch today. Unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment. I ordered a burger, my wife had the chicken tenders, and we shared an order of cheese fries. The burger arrived completely undercooked. The pictures don't even do it justice--it wasn't just rare, it was raw. After a few bites I realized the meat wasn't even warm in the center. Since they use pre-formed patties, I'd think cooking them consistently would be one of the easier things to get right. By the time I realized how raw it was, I'd already eaten a few bites, and the meal was ruined. We ended up spending about $50 on a lunch that was essentially inedible. It was also 1:00 p.m. on a Saturday, and the restaurant was surprisingly empty. Maybe that's a sign that things have changed, but it's sad to see. As a longtime customer, this wasn't the experience I expected from a place I used to recommend without hesitation.

The side of fry wedges were crispy and had a good seasoning. PUBLIC SAFETY WARNINGS!!! STOLEN WALLET/MONEY! (Could have been by their wait staff!)…read more We went to the restaurant last Friday May 28, 2026. I left my purse on the chair to go talk to some colleagues. When I came back, my purse was gone. The table and chairs were rearranged and dishes were taking away. Later I came to the front desk and asked if someone returned my purse, the manager (Juan?) gave me the purse and said an old man turned it in. I was happy to get it back but when I looked inside my wallet, hundreds of dollars bills were gone! I came back and told the manager and asked if we could review the video footage because it was right under the camera where I sat. He said he didn't have an access to the video and that I had to call the morning manager (aka his boss) named Huber as he would have access to it. I came the next morning before the door opened. Huber arrived and I told him. He said he didn't know how to access it. He said he didn't know how to do it and would call the head office to get the instruction and call me back. He never called me. I then called and came by. He said he was busy. The police asked if he could review the footage to confirm what he saw and then they would come out. Huber constantly made excuses that he was busy even when I came by and there was not many people. When I called again in the afternoon, someone said Huber left due to some emergency. How convenient! Then the whole week went by, no phone calls from them whatsoever... I suspected it was their waiter who cleaned the table and rearranged it so they refused to cooperate to cover their butt because the last time I saw my purse was when everything was cleaned and the table and chairs were re-arranged. The fact that the camera was right there so a quick review could have helped the police to identify the person yet they refused for over a week was strange. Wouldn't they want to help the customer and also help their business by identifying the suspect, especially when the video would totally show it, unless it was their waiter that did it?! Huber showed me an empty wallet sitting in a basket at the front desk. He said see, theres another wallet here, and we have some stuff people turned in the back that no one claimed. I found it strange that many people left empty wallets ot purses here. Please don't come here to eat unless you want to risk your wallets or purses be stolen! And btw, their food also sucks! Dry pizza, overcooked fried chicken, and undercooked meat! It was our first time visit and absolutely last.
