First I have to say that I was not able to get my son's hair cut here so I cannot speak to their actual skill set, but my family and I are new to the area so I read fairly decent reviews about this shop so I give it a try on Thursday afternoon. My son and go out to try and get his haircut for his upcoming 8th birthday, so we show up about 4:55, I nod at a few patrons upon entering and my son and I take a seat. I was unaware if they had a reservation system because my wife just told me about this place as she was visiting the Dutch Market one day, so my son and I wait and wait, people come and people go, kids come up to the chair from what I believe is a smaller back waiting room meant for kids, I see several barbers chatting and smiling with the folks in their chairs and calling the next people up from the waiting area when done, but not ONE time, did ANY of the staff even acknowledge us. NOT. ONCE. Not a hello, a hola, a what are you here for? Is this your first time? Did you make a reservation? Who did you make a reservation with? Nothing. So, for 35 minutes my son and I just sat there. The guy running the 1st chair on the right looked at us a few times and we were literally sitting in the 2 waiting chairs to the right of the door within touching distance of him. We were the only two black people in the entire shop so everyone had to of seen us walk in, I mean we stood out in there. So needless to say, at 5:30 I told my son that we should go, so that's that. I don't know what their reservation system is like there, but at a minimum someone could have at least spoken to us once. I'm not saying that it was, but it FELT very discriminatory. read more

I had been needing a haircut since I hadn't cut my hair in over a year. My mom mentioned that she had gotten a haircut here before and that I should try it out. I was skeptical because it is a barbershop, but I was pleasantly surprised! It is a "barbershop," but really it is a unisex salon and all the hairstylists are great! I had the pleasure of getting my haircut with Miriam and I will be going back. You can't beat the price either! So I have been looking for a barbershop that I felt comfortable going to. I have always been nervous about going to barbershops because they are perceived as a "haven for men". I looked on Yelp and saw different reviews. I decided to check it out for myself. When I walked in, I was Greeted by Ms. Lita and she asked me what I needed. I told her I just wanted a simple haircut. She then turned me over to Marvin who is super skilled. He is the only person I let touch my hair, he does an amazing job and he is very personable. This place is HORRIBLE! Do NOT let this woman cut your hair!!! She completely ruined my beard and then STILL charged me for it, telling me that she would do it right "next time." When I frequent barber shops, I always rate them based on the quality of my cut, the customer service/friendliness of the staff, and the cleanliness of the shop. All of these were perfect during my visit here (Thursday around noon). It wasn't too busy, which was great, so I got right into the chair. The barber Luz gave me the exact cut that I wanted and did it to perfection - she shaped me up nicely with a great fade, trimmed my sideburns to the perfect length and width, cut my hair down to exactly where I wanted it, and she sculpted my goatee perfectly. Then she did my eyebrows, which I usually don't get, but my experience here was so great and I was so relaxed with the warm towel that I had her do those too. You all have the privilege of being in the same neighborhood of Lina, a hairdresser that I went to for 7 years before she parted ways with Diego's Hair Salon in downtown DC. Across a 7-year period, Lina never once messed up a haircut. Every single one - some several hundred I got - was perfect. I also sent 4-5 of my friends there who are now also loyal customers. We were devastated to hear that she was leaving DC to go to Germantown, but one man's loss is another man's gain. Go get your haircut here! You will not be disappointed. read more

Tried it out based on a couple recommendations. Great cut at a sane price ! Very happy with the cut Lina gave me. Great attention to detail and successfully gave me a short cut which is extremely hard to do with my hair. My wife's really happy with it as well. Lina also touched up my beard to make it even. I have been looking for a go to barber in my area for about 6 months and this is it. I was in the chair right away and in and out in 25 minutes. I wasn't in a rush and Lina took her time (and it showed). I went midday on a weekday and it wasn't busy. Also kept an eye on the other cuts getting done at the same time for other clients and others seemed happy and looked good when they walked out. It's right next to Outback and looks like a strip mall barbershop on the outside and a standard neighborhood barbershop on the inside. Everyone seems nice. read more

These people did not give neither one of my sons fades and charge 30 a piece. They can't cut, don't waste your time what so ever....

I go once every two weeks, and i am always satisfied with my haircut. The employees are friendly, and very perfectionist with the cuts they give. Betty and katy or my favorite. Germantown Barberhop recently was re-acquired by a new owner because Lim has retired. However, the place looks amazing and clean. I came on a Monday around 3pm and the owner greeted me warmly and I was immediately seen for a men' haircut. She knew exactly what kind of style I wanted and gave me an amazing cut. Very reasonable priced too: around $20ish with a tip. I plan on revisiting! read more

Horrible place to get a haircut first of all a lady cut my hair who didn't speak English I had no shape up after because she didn't know how to even do line ups so I pretty much walked out with a bald head the second she did charge my card correctly because she didn't know how to work the cashier machine so they try to call me up saying I owe them money . The must have been ment to happens I'm so glad she didn't know how to charge my card because that was the worst nightmare haircut I just went home and shaved my fucking head bald so avoid this place as much as possible . I'll second what a few other reviewers have said about Lina. I was her client for over 3 years while she was at Diego's Hair Salon in downtown DC. I moved away for a year, and was surprised to learn when I returned that she was no longer there. A little online sleuthing led me to discover she now runs her own barbershop in Germantown. While unfortunately it's too far for me to make the trip (no car), I'd recommend Lina without reservations. She takes the time to learn your style and get to know you. read more

Lina gave me a haircut and I think I was so lucky she is real professional but in meantime I was waiting for her I checked out other girls job one of them ( the girl on right side I don't know her name) was so lost and when customer said can you fix this part of my hair when she was done with his hair she seemed frustrated and started working with attitude. I started going to Lina for haircuts when she worked at Diego's in DC, which was conveniently located right around the corner from my home. She did a great job, was warm and friendly, and was always on time. Now Lina has her own shop, Germantown Barbershop, which is clean and friendly, just as I would have expected. I do miss walking two minutes to get to the barbershop, but I'm loyal to Lina so am willing to make the forty minute drive to get a great haircut and support her new business. read more

I went in yesterday for a haircut, it was not the simple haircut that most men go in to get so I understand if it takes a little more time than usual, but it was a bit much. We were in there for over 45 minutes, and I've had my hair cut in this style numerous times and the most it's ever taken was 15-20 minutes max. My hair was partially combed and I don't have that much hair for it to take that long. My barber, Tony, was very friendly and apologized for all of the inconvenience which I definitely appreciated, he was a bit chatty though. He also seemed really unsure of himself and kept going back to the same areas to adjust them, which ended up with the top of my hair being shorter than I would've liked but hair grows back so I'm okay, my haircut doesn't look bad at all, just not sure if I would go back is all, the staff was friendly, but sometimes friendly doesn't outweigh the service being offered, and it wasn't up to par read more
