This cute little place has been here a long time. I had a couple dates here 20 odd years ago. It really has not changed. It is sweetly decorated, they have nice staff, it is clean, there is a little parking lot and some on street parking. There were no drawbacks or issues. There are even a couple benches to sit down and wait when they are busy. Nice! My kid's dad and I ubered teens to Miyako Con in Keizer ( we live in Portland) and had time to kill so we had a light lunch here, of course we got cake, and we brought my teen a slice to eat at home. We hid it so the friends would not be jealous because we did not buy them any. We had bought them coffees earlier in the day...we are not MEAN exactly...just a little broke after giving our kid anime merch money. So sssh don't tell on us! Our slices of cake ( coconut, raspberry lemonade, chocolate raspberry) were all huge and delicious. My coconut slice was fluffy, moist, and light with creamy light frosting. The other two slices were moist and delicious too. And the pieces were big! Really one piece shared would have worked except that way you only get to try one flavor. My ex said there oughta be a cake flight of six little pieces so you can try a bunch. I said, or bring more people and share :) Next time! Maybe we will even let the friends have some. P.S. I read that bakers in Stayton purchased the Konditorei in 2018 after having baked deserts for them for years. The cakes are not made on site but they are locally baked, not produced in a factory as another yelper mistakenly reviewed. read more

Tried 3 different slices of cake and all were delicious! Will definitely be back. My rating is based only on the cake.

We came here for after dinner dessert and there were not many people yet, so we found a place to sit and enjoy the food. The staff were nice and helpful in explaining the different choices. There is a lot of variety and every thing we had was very good. The lemon bar tasted like a mini lemon meringue pie and the crust was thick and firm. The chocolate cake, the macaroon, and German chocolate cake all very very good! Can't wait to go back and try other treats. read more

I and my wife came here after a downtown dinner for dessert. We had a piece of coconut cake, a piece of cherry cheesecake (vanilla), and a piece of tuxedo cake. All three were outstanding, but the cheesecake was the star of the show. It was fresh baked with quality ingredients and presented beautifully. Don't skip this! The tuxedo cake was a close second and was delicious. The staff was helpful but they were running as fast as they could on a Thursday, 2 hours from close. All in all this was a great place with gorgeous and mouthwatering offerings. Definitely will return to try the other options. read more

I took my daughter out for a birthday cake and snack, I stood in the Please Wait to be Served line for 10 minutes and asked them if I could sit myself and wait. They said yes. We sat there for another 10 minutes and they told me to get to the back of the line and wait after people who had come in after me. I told them that I had been there before and they said to sit myself. I did not think that was very fair. Someone said just stay and I will bring the menu. 7 minutes later I got a menu. My daughter was upset at the service so we left. This has been a 25 year tradition. read more

A great find! I'm glad it is in Salem and not closer to me or else I would be in trouble. The people behind the counter are super friendly and helpful. I am one to be overwhelmed by too many options and and too many options was the case here (but in a good way). There seemed to be a cake to satisfy whatever you are craving. You want chocolate? Barneys! It's chocolate on chocolate on chocolate. Make sure you a cup of milk to wash it down. Yellow cake with chocolate frosting, german chocolate cake, and more. You want fruity? They have fruity! I got a slice of fresh strawberry and was very happy with my choice. The frosting is a whipped frosting that was creamy and sweet. The cake itself was light and fluffy. Neither cakes we had were cloyingly sweet, but I definitely preferred the fresh strawberry. If anyone has ever tried Beaverton Bakery's strawberry champagne cake, I thought it came very close and was very nostalgic for me. I will definitely be back for more cake in the future. They also have other sweet treats cheesecake, brownie bars, cannolis. I'm telling you, something for everyone. read more

For those like me who love a slice of homemade cake, this bakery was a fantastic discovery. They have an awesome variety of cakes, from classic to more innovative flavors, making it very difficult for someone to make a choice! The cake slice portions are huge, so (unfortunately!), you are only able to eat one slice per meal. The bakery also serves breakfast and lunch. I had a slice the champagne raspberry cake and it was very delicate, moist and yummy. In my next visit to Salem, I will definitively go back to Gerry Frank's Konditorei to try other cakes! read more

Another place my son brought us for dessert after dinner. I ordered the Marionberry Cheesecake and my son had the Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake. The slices were really large, and we couldn't finish it. Next day's breakfast :) I would have love to order coffee with it, but I didn't want to be up all night... This place has a lot of different cheesecakes, cakes and pastries. It was so hard to decide on which ones we wanted to try. We'll just need to come back and try more flavors. read more

We really liked this bakery. It reminds me of an old world European bakery to some degree. It's not so much pastries, they have as it is cakes, and they have lots of options! After hemming and hawing, we opted for a variety of things to try - the caramel pecan cheesecake, strawkberry cake, coconut cream cake, and chocolate peanut butter cheesecake. Huge diversity of cake options all available by the slice. Not to mention creative and fun seasonal cakes! In honor of summer, I tried the Raspberry Lemonade cake. SO yummy, a monster slice with a beautifully fresh fruit flavor and light, moist cake body. All cake goes great with a cup of their coffee was well. Everytime my boyfriend & I drive by here, I always tell him "I need to try the cake there"!!! Tonight was a beautiful evening, we live pretty close by, so we walked up there with our neighbor for an evening snack. Let me tell you...EVERYTHING in here looks delicious & the cake slices are huge!!! Deciding on which to pick was really hard..Lol..I decided to get The Blackout cake, which was amazing. It was chocolate cake with a chocolate fudgey icing. It was exactly what I was wanting !! My boyfriend got the Old Fashioned, he must have loved it because his plate was empty fast. This place is too cute. Visiting a smaller town like Salem is fun when you can find locally owned places that have good food and good service. We shared three desserts for our group of five. I liked the coconut cake the most. Overall the cakes are very sweet, but the coconut cake was the least sweet in my opinion. Adorable place to go after dinner or a date. I drive past this place everyday on my way to pick my kid up from daycare and have always wanted to try them out. Then I heard they had some of the best cakes in town so I finally went on a weekend to try them out I got several slices of cake and a giant snickerdoodle cookie and I also ordered lunch which was there french dip. I have got to say the cake was fantastic! Best carrot cake I've ever had! The lemon cake was amazing even after being refrigerated for 4 days the lemon cake was still oh so moist and delicious. The French dip was delicious as well and came with a bunch of really yummy kettle chips, it was big enough to share. 2nd time I came I had the Cobb salad it was soo good! Wow, we hadn't been in here for a few months(gotten desserts to go but not actually sitting down and eating a meal); the food is excellent and CLub sandwich(we split one)plus Chowder, Italian Soda, and dessert to go was an exquisite experience(can you say that w/food). The people are super friendly(they were short one person today and yet we only had to wait a few minutes and they keep coming by and checking and letting us know how many people are finishing up and tables will open....Glad to see it was so busy, too, and if you have't had the desserts, just stand(or sit on bench provided)and stare for awhile....my wife had Tiramasu and I had Raspberry Cheesecake. Small tables are perfect for lunch, watching other people esp through outside windows.....Keep up the great service and food! PS the chips that come w/the meal are great for dipping in soup, too.
