Gettysburg Battlefield Resort is located South of Gettysburg on Highway 15 and in the Southern part of the the Gettysburg National Military Park. While the resort is mainly a private RV park, this review focuses on the rental cabins. Nearly in the center of the park are about 8 cabins available for rent. The "cabins" are renovated trailers. I stayed for two nights on a motorcycle trip up to Gettysburg and found the location convenient and accommodations excellent. Some of the features included: Direct TV, Gas Grill on porch and a screened in porch. There is a small supply store on the grounds and a nice pool. Overall very happy with my visit to Gettysburg Battlefield Resort - I would come again.

So I've apparently won $1,000 or 21 day stay at this place anybody else have the same thing? Is it legit or do I end the end have to buy something?

We got to the point where we were telling individuals. It was not polite to walk through someone else else's site . A bit of a mixed bag for me at Cunningham Falls…read more.. I was excited to find a listing of parks that supposedly had wheelchair accessible trails. I've never been to Cunningham Falls before and the idea of seeing a waterfall seemed lovely. However, the accessible boardwalk has strips on pretty much everything board which made me feel like I was riding a very angry horse. Each bump shot pain up my spine. I'm writing this a day later and I still hurt, and I think I'm a pretty tough chick... and the view of the falls was mostly blocked and not worth the actual pain. The Falls is more like a small stream of water that splashes down some rocks. It's a soothing noise but I was expecting something more grandiose... I suppose I could blame climate change. Most of the old stream beds are dry. We also checked out the "south beach" which I enjoyed. There's plenty of pavement, and packed gravel. I couldn't get close to the water, but that's okay because it was a sunny day and I prefer to stick to the shade. I was impressed by the fact that every picnic table has a grill nearby. If I lived closer I'd like to think I'd come to the south beach often, hide in the trees near the river, grill something delicious... but I was a several hours long trip from Dundalk, so it's unlikely that I'll return. It was a nice day-trip though. I don't regret going.

However, I felt the prices are high if the main attraction is not available. BTW, They do offer wi-fi but it doesn't really work. My room had a wide range of issues which did hinder my trip and made the high price for my cabin non justifiable. The main office was closed and called back the next day which was not ideal. The events were not always timely for instance the advertised pool party didn't start getting setup until 15 minutes after advertised and it was indeed not a party. Lastly the canteen was inexcusably inefficient for grabbing a meal by the pool. You had to wait in line for 45+ minutes and then were quoted an additional 1+ hour until you would get your food. In all this park has so much potential to be better. But if cabins are not up to par, guests should be contacted in advance or given a remedy.

I stopped by on a warm, sunny October Sunday morning while in the area for the National Apple Harvest Festival (about 30 minutes away), and somehow had the whole place to myself. It was so peaceful--just the sound of leaves rustling in the breeze and the occasional thud of acorns falling from the trees. The walk in is short and easy--basically a flat stroll past a couple of informational signs to reach the boulder outcropping. From there, the fun begins! Hammonds Rocks is about 400 feet long, with massive stone formations to climb, wander, and explore. I spent about 45 minutes hopping from stone to stone, taking photos, and checking out different angles of the formations. Even without climbing, there are plenty of spots to enjoy the view, though the tall trees do block some of it. Still, with the leaves just starting to turn to their fall colors, it was absolutely beautiful. The info signs are worth a pause, too--they really put things into perspective. One noted that when the sediments making up these rocks were deposited, the spot where I was standing was on the shore of a great ocean...530-600 MILLION years ago. Wild. Absolutely mind blowing! As for access: don't panic when Google Maps tells you the next few miles are unpaved. The gravel road is manageable if you take it slow and keep an eye out for some monster ruts. (Speaking from experience: this 40-something woman in her beloved Alfa Romeo made it just fine.) Just don't attempt in winter without knowing what you're getting into--the roads aren't maintained in snow or ice. Overall, Hammonds Rocks is an easy, low-effort, high-reward stop. Whether you're climbing, photographing, or just taking in the history and scenery, it's a great way to spend part of your day in Michaux.

The campground is large and organized into different sections/site types including cabins and glamping tents. There are sites overlooking the lake and ones that are more secluded. Our site was in the 200 block and very level. It took no time at all to get the camper set up for the weekend. Water pressure was good and steady power. WI-FI was also average for a campground. If you enjoy a campfire and plan on staying a few days spring for the "cage" of firewood/weekender. It is a large metal cage of firewood they deliver to your site for only $50. That may seem like a lot, but with single bundles costing between $7-$10 at most places this is a deal. We had a steady campfire going for 3 nights/days and still had wood left.
