We've used GhilaDoci Bakery twice now. The first time was for my son's birthday. They were very communicative and even asked for pictures to help them understand the cake design we wanted. They made a wonderful dinosaur cake that both looked great and tasted amazing. I also recently bought a cake for my wife's birthday. I let them know that I wanted a "quarantine" themed cake and they told me they knew exactly what to do. A friend told me about this bakery about 4 months ago and I couldn't wait to try it for myself. On my first visit I purchased an assortment of cookies, muffins, scones and fruit bars. I loved all of it!! Each day there is a different selection available so it's the perfect excuse to visit the bakery often. Be sure to try the Lemon Blueberry Scones (my favorite scone) and any and all of the crumble bars!!! I walked in around 10am to this cute store on opening of day 2. I was so surprised that the wait in line was almost out the door! The cashier was working as fast as she could to try to knock down the line but it was like the harder she was working, more people would keep walking in lol. She greeted each and every one of us and kept apologizing for the wait. I honestly didn't mind because it gave me some time to scope out all the options. After awhile I think the cashier realized she wouldn't be able to get us all helped in a decent amount of time so she quickly ran to the back to ask for help. Im going to assume it was the owner/baker who came out to help. It was cute to see the shock on her face at how many people were waiting to be helped. As soon as she came out, between the both of them they started to quickly take care of all of us. As for delicious options. There were so many. Sadly, I wasn't shopping for myself but for end of the year teacher goodies. They had some huge cake slices for $5. When I asked what kind the chocolate cake was she started rattling off a long list of delicious flavors and ingredients. All heard was ganache and cream cheese filling. Sold! I made out like a bandit for 3 slices at $15 some plus tax. The shelves were filled with so many beautiful foods. Nothing was labeled so I don't remember what they had, but it was a huge variety. From the 2 choices of cake slices, cookies, cupcakes, scones, and a couple more. I overheard the owner telling another customer she still had future plans. Possibly an outdoor seating area and working on solidifying the menu. How cute and fun for downtown. I love the idea of an outdoor sitting area. Plus the inside is a little small so additional seating would be a great bonus. I've always thought downtown lacked a bakery. If traveling from one side of town to another and I've passed Sweet Surrender or Sugar Twist, there really isn't much left except for Tastries and Smiths. I know if I really wanted I could've always gotten GhilaDolci from Smitten, but getting the variety of a bakery is a world a difference vs going to a coffee shop when I'm specially looking for a bakery treat. I am very excited for this new opening and another local business to help the to change and build up of downtown. New bakery in town that is a MUST try!!! Soooo....confession, I've probably been to every bakery within a 100 mile range. But this one, OMG. I don't think I've been to a bakery where I've liked ALL the items I've gotten. I loved the PB cookie, oatmeal raisin, lemon scone, lemon lime tart, and raspberry shortbread cookie. Even the little pecan triangle samples were really good. My only complaint is that the tart and the frosting for the scone was OVERLY sweet. While the flavor was outstanding, the sweetness was a bit much. I wish they were open longer as their business hours are pretty limited. Girl, you are killing it! Courtney is so talented and sweet. She was introduced to me by a friend who had her bake for multiple occasions and my boyfriend at the time was so impressed that we hired her for our wedding. She was so easy going and made getting ready for the big day and the big cake a cinch. My venue was on the central coast and they loved her so much that they wanted to put her on their exclusive referral list for their clients. Since then, GhilaDolci has made numerous birthday cakes for my family and I don't see that stopping any time soon. My favorite is her almond cake with fresh berries and mascarpone. Her brick and mortar location recently opened and I've gained about 10 pounds because I have no self control when it comes to her tarts and pecan bars. This bakery was recommended to me by a friend. I emailed the bakery and they were very quick with a response. I showed them a picture of my son's birthday invitation for inspiration. I needed a cake that fed 10-12 people. I only gave them a week notice. I picked up the cake the day of and it was adorable! I came in Thursday after grabbing lunch at Jasmine's. The place is small and there were two people ahead of me and was quickly joined by someone behind me at the counter. A customer asked for lemon tarts. I thought, she must be a regular because I didn't see any in the small case. She was told yes and then I saw the tarts. They look wonderful. Next time! I remember noticing biscotti, lemon tarts, pecan triangles, maple scones, and some chocolate cookie(muffin top)? I asked for a Cannoli cookie, after seeing it on their instagram, two pecan triangles, and a biscotti. I tried a bite of the cannoli cookie and did not like it. I am not a huge chocolate fan, but I think it is the cookie texture itself. It is too underbaked for my taste. The pecan triangles, however, oh wow!!!!! My husband tried one and said, this is really good. Wow! He said it had lots of caramel, much better than a pecan pie. He was already thinking about another piece, but that was mine. It was perfect. Perfect level of sweetness. It was delicious with a cup of coffee. I can't wait to try my biscotti. Also, I see us returning to try other options. Especially, scones. Wow amazing sweets! I bought scones so soft and delicious also a pumpkin muffin in love! Pretty excited of this new local business I wanted to congratulate the owner which was in the back baking and the employee said she's too busy. This bakery has some very high quality goods. The afternoons I have visited this place the selection was limited. I was able to buy carrot cake a few times as well as some fancy cookies. I planned to travel through Bakersfield and so contacted GhilaDolci. I spoke with Emily, who was friendly and agreed to bake 4 individual cookies for me since I didn't need a dozen or a cake. I got the Peanut Butter S'more Cookie, Cannoli Cookie, Sugar Cookie, and Maple Pecan Scone. All of them were delicious. The scone was almost like a biscuit--I mean that in a good way. The only downside is I don't live in Bakersfield. :-( read more

I have been privileged to taste Courtney's goodies from my days of working at Cafe Smitten and I'm so excited she has her own store front now. I had first tasted what would be my wedding cake when she made it as a birthday cake for someone else. When I got engaged, I knew I had to have Courtney make my cake and THAT cake (Chocolate cake with caramel ribbons and peanut butter frosting.) It was the longest 2 year engagement ever waiting for that cake! But it was well worth the wait. So many of our guests came up and told us it was the best cake they've ever had! And I would agree. It was beautiful as and tasty. Not only that, but she came in, delivered quietly, and it was just there waiting for me when it was time for our reception. She didn't bother me (although she wouldn't have been a bother) with details while I was trying to get ready or anything, which helped minimize my stress on our wedding day. We also dont have to save our cake topper for our year anniversary (because let's be honest, that's kind of gross, even if it is tradition) because she includes a small anniversary cake in her price.
