I chose Ghiselani Designer Wedding Cakes for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary because I loved how elegant and detailed Gigi's cakes are on her website. Once Gigi finished with our cake setup, the beauty of it literally took my breath away and I immediately became teary eyed because all the months of planning- phone conversations and text messages with Gigi that went into designing this cake, finally became a reality! I really appreciated how responsive she was with me throughout the design process. I wanted to add on some things to the design a couple weeks prior to the event date and Gigi was very accommodating with that. Her attention to the small details on the cake were beyond spectacular. She surprised us with the center of our teal lilies spray painted in gold! The taste of the cake itself was phenomenal. It was light and very moist and the flavors of each layer was bold and tasted like the real deal. I have been stressing out over finding a cake designer and when I met her at a wedding expo I thought my cake dreams were coming true. She treated me like VIP and had me sold then it all went downhill from there. First things first, we emailed back and forth for some time and she offered to do a cake tasting. I was excited. Just like the TV shows and movies, I was going to do a cake tasting! so we scheduled it on a Sunday afternoon and went to her house which is kinda of weird to run a business from but I guess Maui cake designers rather cut overhead by running it out of their homes. Waited for an hour until she came home from some other event. I should have had alarm bells going off in my head but instead just went with the flow. We entered her home and started the cake tasting. I have to admit it was fun trying different mixtures of frosting and cake but it took forever. We went through so many combinations, I was getting caked out. After all that we were able to choose out design and flavors. She wrote everything down from the different tier flavors to the design so I thought she would be organized & I had nothing to worry about. Then came the off part of charging us $75.00 for the cake tasting. It would've been nice to be informed of that before we drove all the way upcountry and waited for an hour then spending another couple more hours mixing flavors. I know they have to make their money somehow but information is greatly appreciated! So months went by thinking I had an amazing cake lined up for my wedding. As it neared the wedding, I emailed her over and over about the cake and never got a response or emails coming back saying she was "busy". Yeah life is busy but when you have customers, learn how to make time. Emailing is not HARD. So finally, I tried calling her and she would tell me she was at this event, blah, blah. Okay, over that. Then came the horrible part. A week or two before my wedding, i emailed her double checking on my flavors of tiers and made sure she had everything set. NO email so I called her and she forgot what I had! she was driving and had her assistant or partner write down my tier flavors. Stressed out, I totally forgot my design that I wanted because she DID WRITE it down when we cake tasted months ago so I tried to describe it to her and she acted as if she knew what I wanted so I thought everything was fine. I was overwhelmed. Wedding in a couple weeks and dealing with this cake dilemma added more stress than I already was. So the wedding day came and when I walked into my reception, I was disappointed. It was not the cake design I wanted at all. It was not even the right colors that we had mixed when we cake tasted. If a cake could ruin a wedding then that would have doomed me but it was my wedding day and I didn't let that get to me. Overall, the cake tasted amazing but the design was not what I dreamt of. This is BY FAR the BEST cakes i have ever had ever...i honestly love the PISTACHIO with Pistachio cream & Chocolate Gra Manier (i think thats correct spelling)!!! You really know the difference between store bougjt and "made from scratch" whrn it comes to these cakes. Cake tasting was so much fun! She is extremely creative and very personable! She has props to help you design and see the cake you want to build. The cake tasted amazing; especially since there are endless flavors you could mix and match from. The details outside of the cake were exquisite, detailed, and extravagant. The cake itself wasn't very impressive and lacked the awe factor, but the details outside around the cake made up for it. We set aside a fairly large budget for an extravagant cake, but the cake itself only had different colors of butter cream on it. Gigi was great to work with. My husband and I gave her ideas of what we wanted and her creativity took it from there. Overall we were very pleased and happy with our cake. read more

Marie Ghislaine Audant makes the most extraordinary, sensational, stunning cakes! She is also an incredible person & great artist! She is sweet & very professional at the same time. Her generosity was so unbelievable! I sent her a picture of my daughter's dream cake & when we all seen the cake, we couldn't believe how it looked just like the picture! GiGi was the most wonderful woman to work with, she had amazing spirit and energy! She worked with me on my budget to create the wedding cake I wanted, a Hawaiian Tiki theme. She even went out of her way to go around town to find a tiki man and woman wood carving for the topper and texted me pictures of ones she had found! We didn't have the opportunity to taste test since it was a destination wedding, and I was ecstatic about how delicious it was! I had vanilla with butter rum filling. Hands down the best wedding cake tasting and customer service. My husband and I got married in Maui in September. Planning from California was a bit of a headache and hard for me to trust people with this task without actually meeting or tasting the product. Less than 3 weeks prior to the wedding I found Gigi. I emailed her for a quote and she called me back to talk. Our first convo wad 40 mins long. She educated me on cakes, flavors, tastings and design. I was sold. When we arrived in Maui for our tasting, the fee of $30 was a bargain for what we received. At least 2 hours and tastings for 5 people and customer service that I have never received before. She was even gracious enough to attend our wedding. She assisted with the reception set up and desert display. This woman is a class act and the cake was delicious. Wow! Gigi as she likes to be called was as amazing as the wedding cake she made for us. Super professional, knows what she is doing and even drove all the way across Maui to deliver the cake to our reception! The quality of the cake was one of the best we've had. It was a three layer cake; Pina colada, Mocha and lilikoi Yummy! (see the attached photo) Gigi helped us not only with the cake but with the flowers for the cake making sure we were all around happy. She was better than our wedding coordinator and florist as far as being helpful and caring. We highly recommend her for any cake you might need and the price for the quality was on par. I have truly never tasted a better cake in my life. Bar none... and as far as wedding cakes go sometimes they are super pretty but not moist.This was NOT the case here! This cake made you moan with every bite. Everyone at the wedding was talking about how amazing it was. Even the restaurant staff snuck some! After reading the reviews on another wedding site and the Ghiselani (Gigi) Designer Wedding Cakes site, I was excited to go with this baker. I spoke to her two times on the phone previous to the wedding and she was full of statements of how wonderful everything would be with the cake. However, this is a cautionary tale of why I should have insisted on a contract for a wedding cake (which unfortunately I didn't know I should get). I have much of this documented in emails to her company, photos and phone records. So here's what happened: --Cake was supposed to arrive at 9:00 am per the many emails sent. I called at 8:50 am that morning and she told me an employee had a car accident. Really? Then why wouldn't you call your brides and warn them? I'm having a hard time believing it was true. I think it was more likely she wasn't done with my cake. She tried to wheel and deal with me as to how late should could bring my cake. Understandably, I was upset and became more so as she was trying to get the biggest delay possible. Finally, I said, "Are you telling me I'm going to get my cake in the afternoon?!" She replied, "Don't put words into my mouth..." I then insisted the cake come as soon as possible as she was going to make us late getting to our own wedding. She mentioned an hour, then an hour and a half, and finally I agreed to wait until 11:00 am for the cake. No cake at 11:00 am, 11: 30 am, 12:00 pm. I tried to call her after 11:00 am and she wasn't picking up. Then I had a girlfriend call from another cell phone to get a hold of her which she was able to do. And the cake did arrive in the afternoon...almost 12:30. --Talking to her on the phone a few months earlier, she tried to upsell me to a 3rd tier (I told her this was a destination wedding with 30 people, so I asked for a bottom tier of 10"x10" and a top teir of 8"x8"). We had so much cake left over we had to throw half of it away after a week. --She asked for details and example photos of the cake and but didn't honor my repeated email requests for a cake completely covered in scrollwork (like some on her own site). And she didn't pay attention to the photos or to the memo where she wrote "full of piping scrolls work all over". The cake decoration was okay, but not the coverage that I asked for, and not a following the website's slogan "We'll make your dream cake a reality." --The bottom tier frosting was supposed to be Amaretto-flavor, it tasted orangey --The candy pearls were literally as hard as rocks. My young niece pointed out guests were removing them from the frosting. --I sent my condo room # in an email 2 days before the wedding and you have to send her a full address, not to mention that in many emails to her my full hotel name was listed. On the day of, it seems she didn't take note of where we were located because she couldn't find our hotel, and had to call for directions. She also didn't deliver to our door, my husband had to get it from her in the lobby. --Cake was $385, I would have paid double for good service. --I'm not a bridezilla; all my other vendors (hair, photos, musicians, officiant, reception) were amazing! So that's my experience with Ghiselani Designer Wedding Cakes--my hairdresser, friends, husband, emails and phone calls as my witness. If you still want to work with her, have legal recourse and get a contract! read more

I should have known this business was questionable when she asked how much I would be willing to pay. Suggested I might like something from a "common bakery" and totally blew me off. What can I say, Gigi really is fantastic. My husband and I married on Maui on 25th September 2015 on the Kukahiko Estate. Gigi delivered our cake to the estate on the day and so I got to meet her in person. The cake looked amazing and as she described to me the detail about the ingredients and flavours on both tiers her enthusiasm and passion for what she does was clearly evident. I knew before we even tasted the cake that it was going to be something special. We had travelled over from the UK so we didn't have time to do a cake tasting before hand, Gigi was specifically picked by our amazing wedding planner Shane Canada at Bliss Wedding Design. I cannot put into words how amazing our cake tasted, absolutely delicious, everything about it was truly divine. Any cake my husband now has he is always disappointed as he compares it to our wedding cake and says "Nowhere near as nice as Gigi's cake". Marie (Gigi) is a very talented baker and will absolutely make you a beautiful and delicious wedding cake. We went to her house for the tasting (as the other reviewers mention- she has a longer, more involved tasting, which can be really fun if you set aside the time for it! Lots of funny wedding/marriage advice that is actually good, and loves to chat about food and her previous baking competition experience.) The payment you make at the tasting goes to your final invoice for the cake, so it's really not bad at all. I wanted a pretty plainly decorated cake (textured white frosting with some real flowers on the top and side) and while I know she wanted to do more design- she delivered exactly what I asked for. I'm sorry these other ladies had such a hard time communicating with her for their cakes, but that was a few years ago and my experience with her was the exact opposite. She was on time for our meeting, she took wonderful notes, sent several follow up emails making sure she got the flavor/filling combinations correct, and then even emailed me a week before the wedding to triple check the date, time, and location of the wedding. I was wondering if people actually cancelled this close to their wedding, but apparently it's just to assure them that they will have their wedding cake! She's great and her cakes are amazing. We ordered a 2-tier cake for a party of 45 for our 3/6/16 Olowalu Plantation House wedding, and there wasn't any left over. I wish there was because it was so good! Thanks, Gigi! read more
